Rio Radiance

Im a lover of tuberose. Not the bubblegum kind, i like the heady and animalic side of tuberose. This however gives neither! It smells like a floral uplifted sunscreen... But does sunscreen smell bad? No! I love the smell of sunscreen. Why should it be a negative? I would understand potential disappointment if you were paying 100+ for a sunscreen fragrance , but this is so cheap and so nice. I lowkey wanna drink it out the bottle. It has the same dna as every other sdj fragrance, which has a sweet (but very obviously synthetic) and edible quality to it. I personally do not enjoy wearing gourmands because i just prefer white florals and powdery fragrances. But this is too good to not like! Ive had this since winter and it only started smelling good to me in hot weather. So no its not a year round fragrance unless you live in a hot climate. And yes this is feminine but i somehow can see a guy wearing this as well. Maybe im biased cuz im a guy but still... theres something universal and unisex about this. About the notes: i do not smell the sand in a literal sense but it does create this ‘laying in the sand’ effect. The coconut milk isnt really milky, it doesnt smell necessarily lactonic or milk like. It smells like coconut.. the tuberose isnt tuberosing in a way id want it to. Its like all of its characteristics were stripped away. It smells like any other white floral, without the indoles and without any hint of green or animalic notes. I think the ylang ylang plays a bigger role in this. Ylang ylang + coconut always smells like sunscreen and it makes this an even more tropical scent. Vanilla is barely noticeable but it compliments the rest of the notes . Amber? Maybe? Its not very warm or heavy smelling. It smells solar but not ambery. Which is good imo Longevity: it stays for SO long on clothes that i was baffled. I can smell it 2 days after spraying on clothes. Spraying it on ur skin can make u go noseblind to it really fast. When i spray it on my wrist, it lasts like 15 minutes. When i spray it on my chest it lasts a good 3-4 hours with okay projection. This is all perfect for body sprays and im still shocked that they sell for so cheap. Just goes to show that expensive doesnt mean better... I prefer most of sdj scents over anything mfk has released 😭😭 This was a pretty long review for a pretty simple perfume, but it deserves it. i think its hard to dislike this one, and blind buying is definitely advised if you know anything about notes. Its for sure the most mature in the collection. It doesnt smell as girly or youthful as the other fragrances. I give it a 10/10 for what it is, but on a scale of how much i enjoy it, i’d give it a 7.5/10

Beachy, warm, sweet, sunny, bright, exotic, floral, creamy, feminine, sensual, uplifting, nostalgic On me this opens beachy, sweet, and warm with tropical and creamy coconut milk, and exotic and warm sand. As it begins to dry down the solar florals come into play with creamy tuberose and tropical ylang ylang. Further into the dry down I get the sweet, creamy, and sensual vanilla and the golden warmth of amber which really helps to enhance the sand accord. Overall I get a lovely beachy/coconut scent with just a touch of a high end sun tan lotion scent. It’s very pretty, transportive, and nostalgic. Rio Radiance evokes the feeling of soaking up the sun on my skin with my toes in warm sand, a coconut drink in my hand, and relaxing on a tropical beach with a gentle ocean breeze that brings whiffs of exotic solar florals. To me this feels feminine, and like it would suit women of pretty much any age. It does have a slightly youthful vibe to it, but nothing that would make it just for tweens, teens, and 20 something’s. I’m 37 and still enjoy wearing this very much. This feels best suited for the warmer weather of late spring and summer, but could also be used anytime during the year if you’re wanting to evoke feelings of warmth, the beach, and summertime. I feel like this works best for more casual occasions, as well as for work, or school. I do see some similarities to other fragrances in this category like Alien Goddess, Replica Beach Walk, and The 7 Virtues Coconut Sun. Even though they’re similar they’re also still different enough that I still have all of them in my collection. I do own both the OG Rio Radiance, as well as the newer 87 version, and at least to my nose I think they smell exactly the same. I’m a big fan of the SDJ line, and I own all of the permanent line fragrances, as well as Coco Cabana, 39, Summer é Amor, Beijos de Sol, and Carioca Crush. While Rio Radiance isn’t in my top 3 favorites (Coco Cabana/39, Summer é Amor, 62) of the line it’s still one that I really enjoy, and no where near my least favorite. Honestly I think it deserves more love than it’s been getting. I do get good performance with Rio Radiance. The longevity is decent, it lasts about 5-7 hours before it might need a touch up. The projection is nice, it radiates out about an arm’s length. For reference, some of my favorite beachy/coconut fragrances include Tom Ford Soleil Blanc, Nest Sunkissed Hibiscus, Yves Rocher Monoi Eau des Vahines, Kilian Sunkissed Goddess, Replica Beach Walk, Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess, JHAG Lust For Sun, JHAG Vanilla Vibes, Bobbi Brown Beach, Kayali Maui in a Bottle, Kayali Maldives in a Bottle, SDJ Coco Cabana, B&BW Coco Paradise

This is a very soft, well balanced, beach fragrance. You've got the coconut, you've got your soft florals, and you've got a sandy quality. The coconut in this is not toasted, or milky, overly strong, or sickly sweet. It's just a light, airy, fresh coconut. Nothing more, and nothing less. This is nothing that hasn't already been done before. But that doesn't mean it isn't really good for what it is. No fragrance note in this is outdoing the other. It's so easy to wear. It's comforting. It's pretty. And absolutely perfect for summer. I honestly feel like if you like beach based fragrances like Tom Ford -Soleil Blanc, Jennifer aniston - chapter one, Replica - board walk, bath and body works - in the sun, or Jennifer Lopez - Miami Glow, then you will probably enjoy this also . When it comes to wear time, I feel like this is one of the best ones out of the entire line by FAR. On clean, non hydrated skin, I got at least 3 to four hours of wear time. I think that's very good considering I didn't put on a lotion or a body oil before spraying. I can imagine on fully prepped skin, this would wear even longer. If you like a classic beach fragrance/scent profile you really can't go wrong with this.

It’s definitely a blend of Og Olympea and beach walk. This fragrance loves heat and performs and smells best in the summer heat. I love it! I like it better than the other two although beach walk smells best in cooler weather and Olympea is great for heat too but this is better than Olympea imo cuz I love tuberose in the summer in my perfumes. Oh my❤️❤️❤️ it’s 68 degrees outside today- Fahrenheit- and I’ve been cleaning- I put this on last night before bed. Every room I’ve been cleaning in has this beautiful floral fragrance lingering from my body heat emitting this scent- I go outside and the cool air hits my hot body and that gorgeous floral fragrance wafts all around me— this is so beautiful- it’s kind of a soapy floral bit beachy at the same time- this is one of the most beautiful fragrances ever created imo. I thought the fragrance had worn off- I was so wrong! Btw- I’m wearing a wholesalers perfume oil version of this and it’s way better than a soft body mist but it’s the same fragrance just in a strong perfume oil version. So actually this performs better in cooler warm weather- although it is delightful in hot summer heat too- it’s just better in cooler weather imo.

This is the best product your money can buy this summer if you’re looking for an interesting coconut beach scent. The combo of green Tuberose and coconut is nothing short of amazing, especially at its price point. The complexity is astounding for a body spray. It’s the best of the Sol de Janeiro line, in my opinion, although I do wear Brazilian Crush as well. I don't think this should be compared to the longevity of Tom Ford or any other perfume concentrations for multiple reasons, one of which is that this is a body spray, not a perfume, and it's $35 for a huge bottle. If you layer it with the lotion (also about $30) you extend its longevity, but one of the joys of body sprays is using them liberally to refresh throughout the day. It's not something you spray on in the morning and go for the entire day, although it definitely lingers on clothes. Also, this is very green Tuberose accented by coconut. There is no vanilla and no bubble gum-like Tuberose. If you like number 62 Brazilian crush and are only into sweet stuff this is way more floral, only a bit sweet. Just know how you feel about Tuberose before you buy. I love it more than vanilla so I’m 100%.
