The further it gets into the dry down the more of a decadent and heavenly sweet brown sugar scent swirls throughout the amber-y vanilla, gaining a richness as it does. I also get more subtle notes intertwined throughout of fruity and syrupy sweet pear, fresh and soft spicy pink pepper, soft and powdery musk, and something giving just a whisper of a slightly fresh scent (maybe the jungle essence?). This even manages to give off luxe, glam, and classy vibes, while still being cozy, comforting, and versatile I was extremely excited for the launch of Sundays in Rio because I’m a huge SDJ fan (as well as vanilla fan), and was thrilled to discover they were doing a vanilla centered fragrance. This definitely does not disappoint! It’s 100% permanent line worthy, and certainly deserves its own matching body care products! I’m already planning on ordering at least 2 more bottles because this deserves to be worn with regularity! Dare I say it could even be signature fragrance worthy for some! I think this is going to be another crowd pleaser, my boyfriend and our roommate (the only 2 people besides myself who have already smelled it) immediately complimented me on it! This is warm, sweet, sensual, and sexy, and it has a certain rich depth to it, but without being too much. It’s actually a surprisingly easy reach as well as being quite versatile, just like the majority of SDJ fragrances! I highly recommend this for vanilla lovers as well as SDJ fans. I love that it’s not too heavy or cloying even in this 90 degree summer heat. So, I can actually see this working well year round, although it might work best as an evening scent during the spring and summer. I feel like this can work for the majority of occasions from casual to date nights, and for work and/or school. Now, this isn’t some breakthrough scent, or super unique, but that in no way takes a way from its beauty. I can already say that it’s easily in my top 5 SDJ scents along with Summer é Amor, 39, 62, and 40! For some reference, I own all of their permanent line scents, as well as the OG Coco Cabana, the ‘24 LE trio, the ‘25 LE trio, and now this new Sundays in Rio LE mist. I do see some similarities (to a greater or lesser degree) to fragrances such as Kayali Vanilla 28, Kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar, The 7 Virtues Vanilla Woods, JPG La Belle, Phlur Vanilla Skin, VS Vanilla Lace, BBW Wicked Vanilla Woods, BBW Vanilla Romance, BBW Cozy Vanilla Bourbon. None of these are dupes, or even close to being identical, but as I mentioned, I do get at least some similarity that makes me think of them. For further reference, some of my other favorite vanilla fragrances include Kayali Yum Boujee Marshmallow, Kayali The Wedding Silk Santal, Kayali Vanilla 28, Kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar, Kayali Yum Pistachio Gelato, PDM Oriana, The 7 Virtues Vanilla Woods, Burberry Goddess, Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid, Kilian LDBS, Bianco Latte, YSL Black Opium Glitter, D&G The One Desire, D&G Pour Femme Intense, Gold Sugar, Ellis Brooklyn Marshmallows, Phlur Heavy Cream, SDJ Summer é Amor, SDJ 39, SDJ 62, VS Vanilla Lace, BBW Boardwalk Marshmallow Clouds, BBW Beach Nights, BBW Pistachio Glaze, BBW Cotton Candy Clouds I get great performance with Sundays in Rio, especially considering it’s a mist. The longevity is very good, I get about 6-8 hours on my skin. The projection is nice, it radiates out at least an arm’s length from me. I really hope that they make this beauty permanent because it’s such a wonderful fragrance!

It does remind me of a less fruity and more spiced vanilla version of 40. I’m a big fan of SDJ, and own most of their fragrances. My top 5 are Summer è Amor, 62, 39/Coco Cabana, 40, and Sundays in Rio. I’m also strongly reminded of The 7 Virtues Vanilla Woods (another favorite of mine). I’m somewhat reminded of Donna Karen Cashmere & Vanilla Essence, Cashmere & Palo Santo, VS Bare Sueded Vanilla, Wicked, BBW Wicked Vanilla Woods, Together Weather, and Vanilla Romance, mainly because of the spiced amber-y vanilla. To me, this feels feminine, and like it would suit women of any age. I think this works best during the colder weather of fall and winter because of its warmth and coziness. I think this is most fitting for casual occasions, date nights, and work/school. I get good performance with Sundays in Rio, especially considering it’s a mist. The longevity it moderate to strong as it lasts about 6-8 hours on my skin. The projection is moderate as it radiates out about an arm’s length from me. FULL Review Below!👇🏽 including perfume paring. (never wrote such a long review lol). Firstly, never a Sol de Janeiro body spray went out of stock from the Sephora (Germany) app, let alone in just few days!!! Thankfully, even though i didn’t smell it, the notes spoke my language- divine so i blind bought 2 & I’m so glad!!! Because i now want at least 2 more. Packaging:- The most beautiful bottle I’ve ever seen Sol de Janeiro made! It feels fancy & classy. Deep maroon? With gold accents & white letters, honestly perfectly made. You can still see the product inside, which I like to see how much left. 10/10 Scent Strength:- At first I was underwhelmed with the power, I thought the scent would scream & make its presence bold like the packaging, unfortunately that was not the case. But after spraying some more you can smell it better & of course lasts longer. Good thing is after some time of maceration scent gets stronger but if still have preferred it to be strong from the first mist. Scent Smell:- Vanilla with sexy amber, touch of fruitiness from the pear, a touch of pepper for more elegance. Gorgeous! It is different than their other fruity & vanillas, this is more of perfumey, if you know what I mean. This my friends is a body mist you wear if you want to stand out, a sexy date or night out. Classy & non juvenile. 9/10 if the scent was stronger I’d give it a 100/10. Perfumes that slap together:- 1. Valentino Donna Intense. 2. Mugler Alien Goddess Intense. 3. Mugler Alien Hypersense. 4. Phlur Vanilla Skin. There is more but those are SO GOOD together! I need to test other more to see. Can’t wait for fall to bathe in it. ❤️

My absolute favorite, I bought 8 bottles lmao. Description: it's soft, warm, spicy vanilla. The resinous amber note grounds it and makes the dry down soo cozy. My favorite part is the warm fruity burst at the beginning. On the SDJ website it's listed as pear and I do smell that. But like more pear skin, less pulpy fruit. Sweet, bright, a little herbal, a little musky. It's incredibly unique and not like anything else in the lineup. I think people compare it to 40 because it's "technically" a fruity vanilla but that's ignoring all the nuanced, spicy floral notes that 40 doesn't have. I'd say it's like 30% similar. The dry down is IDENTICAL to Rare Beauty amber vanilla layering balm. Amazing. It also layers beautifully with Cosmic Kylie 2.0 and Phlur Vanilla Skin. I'm heartbroken this is limited edition.

This is my first SDJ, and I must say, it's fabulous. I've tried the others, including 62, and they are not for me. This, however, is a delight. It smells far more mature and that's probably why I like it. At first spray, you get a sweetness that is somehow also fresh. The dry down is more the vanilla talking. Typical body mist longevity, but that is what I wanted for days I'm dressed casually and want only a suggestion of a scent. That said, I am currently on the hunt for a perfume version of this scent profile because I adore it. Also, the packaging on this one is far more attractive than all the others. I get the aesthetic they go for, given the inspiration for the line, but the deep purple and gold is so good.

This is probably my favorite SDJ. I hope they make it permanent instead of limited edition (I bought 3, sorry to my wallet). It reminds me, oddly enough of Ariana Grande Mod Vanilla without the prominent musk note. All the fruity-ness and warmth without the musky, airy quality. Very grounded and slightly earthy, but in a resinous, woody way not a damp, mossy way. I think it is BEAUTIFUL layered with Kylie Cosmic 2.0, probably the pink pepper and amber notes that mesh so beautifully. If I were to compare it to another scent in the line I would say it's closest to Cheriosa 40 but much more amber/vanilla forward than fruit forward. The subtle spice add a refinement I feel like others in the line miss.

I am ngl I was not expecting to like this at all... but when I smelled it in store, I fell in LOVEEE!!! By the notes she's not something I'd like but this is a very nice and fruity scent with that hint of pepper which was actually really well done. Upon spray, I smelled Welch's grape juice oddly but as it dries down I get that pepper more. Definitely was not expecting to like it, but damn is it good. I do not get any vanilla tho for the vanilla girlies to know. Very good for all seasons too!!!! Edit: I ended up returning it, it did not last long enough for the price especially. Great scent, but SDJ needs to up their longevity game.

The opening is fruity, spicy, and powdery on me. The dry down smells very reminiscent of Fancy by Jessica Simpson which I used to love! I am happy to add this to my collection and see myself using this as a staple layering scent. Omg I did not have high expectations for this blind buy but I was VERY pleasantly surprised! It is really nice but I cannot believe that there isn't any coconut in it?! It is sweet and a bit sultry but I definitely smell a coconut note, and I love coconut so it's a win for me😄✨️🌴 EDIT: After wearing it for 2 hours the dry down is very similar to Cheirosa 40, which I also own and like. I really liked the way it smelled initially but I am not mad at the dry down

Nice warm vanilla musk. It’s a layering scent and not really worth the price. I got it in a set with 39 cause it seemed like a good deal. Update 12/01/25: Ok, so I really didn’t give this any thought until I tried it this evening and it’s a beautiful powdery vanilla that I like much more than I remember. I take it back about not being worth the price.

I love SIR but it should've been called Cold Day in Rio, because it's perfect on a chilly day. I'm from Ohio, ask me how I know! If you like this, I highly recommend to try Paris Corner Decemer Vanilla or Origen Sahara Mystery Oud, both similar ambery, woody-spiced vanilla that aren't gourmand, but scream VANILLA

I love the '40 spray, so I had an expectation that this one will be similar but they are the same. On my skin I cannot find any difference, neither with the longevity, nor the projection. The bottle is more beautiful but that's it. Absolutely the same body spray as Cheirosa 40.

The moment I smelled it it reminded me a lot of Armani Sí. I compared those two side by side and they have a very similar note composure. I love it, because SDJ is WAY cheaper than Sí and can be used to reapply during the day.

Already got 2 more backups before the prices start to increase due to being discontinued. Sad to see her go, in my opinion she is the best in the whole sol de janeiro line.

It is a dumbed down cosmic 2.0, all of the warmth and none of the fruit. Warm and inviting, the perfect fragrance for a cosy day in the study with a warm mug of tea.

Really love it but the reviews are true, there no longevity!! It does project a lot when you first spray it but its all gone after an hour 😩

They need to make this as an EDP. I looove the scent but yeah, the longevity is very bad 😮💨

An ambery and slightly fruity vanilla with distinct pink pepper. I can see a lot of people really enjoying this fragrance, but I always struggle with pink pepper and it comes off a tad too bitter to my nose for the first hour of wear. Once it fades into the background and the vanilla comes through more, it’s really nice! Has minimal sillage but lasts about 7 hours. I was worried about this blind buy after reading some of the reviews on here, but honestly I’m not mad at it. When first sprayed it smells almost juicy, like fruity and refreshing. Kind of alcohol-y? But not in a bad overpowering way? Very reminiscent of an old hair detangling spray I loved when I was younger lol which personally I enjoy for the nostalgia. It dries down more warm and spicy but still maintains the slight fruity note that I keep catching in the air when I move. I really like it, I also bought 59 but I feel like either I’ve just gone nose blind to this one already or that one has better projection. This one I’m not noticing as much on myself but it’s definitely there.

The combination of vanilla and orris in this smells remarkably like MAC lipstick. Like I'm honestly surprised no one has mentioned it yet. 40 has a similar scent profile, but will only smell "the same" to someone unfamiliar with floral notes. Still, if you have that one, you probably won't want this one, they're very similar. 40 also leaves a weird scent like cigarettes after a while on my skin. That might be an individual body chemistry thing, but Sundays in Rio doesn't do that at all, the whole wear is pleasant start to finish. It doesn't last very long, maybe a couple of hours on clothes. My boyfriend likes it a lot, it's probably his favourite on me right now.

First off, i think the bottle is really cute. I like the normal cherosia packaging more but the illustrations on the bottle and the colour are appealing. The cap being partially see-through kinda ruins the look for me, the white atomizer looks odd but only if you look at it too closely. For the scent i'd say its my third favourite SDJ. It smells faintly wine like, i have a hard time finding the vanilla as listed on the bottle. Its not usually the type of fragrance i would go for but i enjoy it. Overall it smells nice, more mature than my other fragrances.

I'm surprised there isn't a white floral listed in the notes! This one is definitely not juvenile, and I think the bottle color actually matches the vibe it gives. I get absolutely no pepperiness, which I'm super bummed about. It's a bit weird because it feels like a tropical creamy fragrance mixed into something to make it more amber/sandalwoody. These two profiles are battling each other so it's not a true straight-up vanilla/amber. If you like tropical-leaning floral fragrances, but want a night-time spin to this, you will enjoy this.

This is pretty yum! A very fruity vanilla. Not much like 40 at all contrary to what others say, but they mix well together. I like this scent. One of my favourite things about this fragrance is that it works well in most seasons, because it is both warm and sweet, but also fruity and light. I don’t think it’s a gourmand vanilla, but more just a fruity vanilla. I would recommend to try before you purchase, as it might not be to everyone’s taste 💗💗

I just sprayed this 2 hrs ago. It smells so familiar. I had to respray just to see if I could jog my memory. I'll edit review once I can place the exact dupe. It's good for all seasons really except Spring ( It's's a little heavy). I keep sniffing my arm and the dupe is right there. Ok so after a few days of not wearing, sprayed it on before I got into bed. The smell again so familiar. Then bam it hit me, just like Relax by Lollia.

This is Cheirosa 40's sexier older sister. Vanillic, sweet, but replace the fruity sweetness of the plum with some darker notes, amber and pink pepper. I like it, although I am not the biggest fan of pepper of any kind. This is still very pleasant. I originally bought it because I loved the bottle design, thankfully it smells nice too.

My first impression is it’s a nice warm vanilla. Then I noticed I had accidentally sprayed some on my sleeve when I sprayed my wrists & there it smelled more like a spicy artificial plastic. Weird it smells like that on my clothing but it smells delicious on my skin.

It has the same vanilla notes as in 40, but put a Middle Eastern twist on this. The Pink pepper gives it a very huge rose and oud forward profile. It’s very smooth and well blended.

I agree with a couple of other reviewers, to me it smells like a mix of 76 and 40. Also reminds me of 7 virtues vanilla woods, which I don't love, but I love this.

A warm vanilla that would work great in birth cold weather or mild summer nights. Not long lasting. Purchased for an easy reach while on vacation.

A vanilla, spicy, ambery perfume is not something that I would associate personally with Rio, so I don’t see the connection between the notes and the name, Sundays in Rio. It’s not necessarily a celebratory scent either, so I struggle to find any association between Rio, Sundays or a tropical location and an ambery vanilla. The scent puts me in a mood of somewhere colder and a typical day to day scent, nothing particularly festive. Enough about that, how about the scent.... Very boring, light, unremarkable, your typical warm, vanilla with a pinch of pepper and amber. It’s a body spray, so I should be more forgiving when it comes to performance, if it wouldn’t disappear almost instantly of the skin. It’s cheap and smells cheap! Ultimately, not for me and rather dull! Buy the older Rio de Janeiro, the newer ones are bad!

I wanted to love this since I have liked so many SDJ scents but this just fell flat. One of the things I liked the most about other SDJ mists are they have staying power and you can smell them without needing to be right on top of the skin. This smells great for the first 5-10 minutes then fades quickly to a very mild scent that I can barely smell on myself so I sprayed my daughter and tested if it fades quickly or if I just go nose blind and it isn’t my nose it just fades. I have found that does layer nice with Libre and Michael Kors Gorgeous!

It's very odd. At the first spray it smells to me very much like alcohol, like a chemical alcohol. After maybe 5-10 minutes it turnes to an ordinary but cosy vanilla (with some hints of amber, yes). I also agree with one of the previous review, that it smellls like a hair spray. I'd love to use it sometimes, but I can't stand the oppening. I'll probably give it to someone

Was expecting more of a cozy, smooth vanilla, but it opens quite fruity. Not the same exact scent, but definitely the same fragrance profile as number 40. The vanilla definitely comes out a lot more in the dry down, and I think this would be really good for layering, not bad, but I just found it quite boring, to be honest. I think a lot of people will like it though.

Not the tropical fruit blast I expected — instead this leans warm and cozy. The pink pepper adds a pretty sparkle against smooth amber and vanilla, with musk keeping it soft and close to the skin. It’s easygoing, wearable every day, and for the price (especially as a limited edition) it’s a nice surprise. Not loud, but a comforting spicy-vanilla vibe.

Love!!! But it's so fleeting. It's a really warm amber vanilla and the pink pepper adds a hint of bright spice, similar to ginger. It's not overly spicy or super gourmand. It would probably layer well with a lot of fragrances. I think it would make a good date night scent, too

People are right about body mists in plastic packaging carrying a plasticky note sometimes. I understand they’re in plastic so you can toss them in your bag w/o stress, but...💔 I’ll have to move this into a glass bottle and see how I feel about it then.

Underwhelming. Very light .... honestly couldn't smell anything at first. This is a fleeting, watery skin mist at best. Unless you enjoy collecting SDJ body sprays in general (regardless of how they actually smell/perform) .... then save your money.

Reminds me a lot of Curve, but with a much smaller longevity + sillage. Definitely not my vibe but I gave it to my mom given the reminiscence of Curve, and that's her signature scent.
