Gunnerson's Pumpkin Patch

I love earthy, mossy smells for winter, and this is perfect for a chilly hike. On me, it opens with a blast of hay, lavender, and realistic pumpkin. After about 10 minutes, the pumpkin recedes a bit and I get more of the soil and vine notes, though the hay and lavender are still quite noticeable on me. The result is that it smells very much like harvesting my garden in the fall! (Yes, I do grow pumpkins and lavender, and I use straw as mulch!) Despite how realistic it smells, it still works well as a perfume because of that lavender note and the moss, which is a real love-it-or-hate-it note. This one has amazing longevity and more silage than many SSs. I use it with the glace, which makes it even better. Perfect for making me feel like I'm out in a field when I'm stuck in my office. This smell like Midwest late autumn, and I love it.

This one is interesting. It’s kind of like you dropped a pumpkin bar in the dirt with fallen leaves and vines, slight bit of moss. It’s not straight up pumpkin. More like pumpkin spice. It does all kind of work together nonetheless. I’m enjoying it.

I got the perfume oil of this, so it sits very close to the skin. On me, it smells earthy, hay-y and mushroomy with a hint of menthol.

Not what you'd expect given the notes. To my nose it's almost a buttery gourmand. Very warm and sweet, with caramel and tonka overshadowing the other listed notes. Smells like you're eating pumpkin pie in a grass field. Smells good, but unless you're into smelling like a picnic I wouldn't say it's very wearable

One of maybe 10 of all Solstice scents that smells shockingly simple on me. I can only smell sweet curry.

I’m not sure how to talk about this scent without sounding incredibly morbid, so I have to preface what I am going to say here by telling you that I mean it in the best possible way: Gunnerson’s Pumpkin Patch smells like digging up the corpse of your grandmother in late autumn and sharing a slice of warm pumpkin pie with her. Okay. Well. Maybe not digging up her corpse, that’s a bit extreme. Perhaps picnicking at your granny’s grave? That sounds a little nicer, right? So for starters...although I don’t recall in my lifetime that my grandma often wore Estee Lauder’s Youth Dew– that iconic vintage elixir and rich, balsamic, aldehydic, powerhouse of a perfume– I do have memories of all her jewelry carrying the phantom of its bouquet, and that’s what I smell first in Gunnerson’s Pumpkin Patch: the gauzy, gossamer ghost of its resinous amber/patchouli grandeur. Next, in anticipation of my visit, I have made a pie with the requisite can of Libby’s orange puree, sweetened it with swirls of caramel, and bedecked its glossy surface with fiery-bright maple leaves; I have carried it, still cooling in its aluminum pie pan, through the rusted cemetery gates, late autumn vegetation at my feet, the sun deeply hidden in a sky heavy with clouds. I meet no one along the path to her gravestone, and as the bittersweet spectre of her signature scent mingles with the chilled afternoon air and the buttery steam rising from the crimped pie crust, I kneel, and with quiet reverence, carefully carve two slices.

Pumpkin spice (I did initially get punched in the nose with a mentholy pumpkin curry but it dissappears within a minute) with dank soil (mushroom, moss and vine/sap) in the background. I thought I wasn't going to like this when I initially smelt it from the bottle/1st minute on my skin but it isn't as bad as I first thought because the 'gross' earthy notes saved this from being a commercial Pumpkin spice Halloween candle and those 'gross' earthy notes are my favourite. It will probably only be one that I wear during Ocotober as it does come across as Halloween-y but that is totally ok because I will probably burn through my other bottles so quickly so it is nice to know i will always have one that will last a little longer 🤣

The soil note is incredibly strong for the first hour of wearing, at least on me. It’s my least favorite part of this scent. About an hour in, it blends a lot better, giving a strong base note to the herbs and spices. I don’t know that I ever smell anything distinctly “pumpkin” but I am smelling something very green. Picking up a little on the vine and probably the falling leaves. Not getting any blatant caramel, or even sweet, just a tempering and blending of the soil note. I love Solstice Scents and this scent is incredibly true to the notes. Not something I will get a full bottle of because I don’t particularly care for the strong soil note. Try Wilcox’s for something similarly herby but not as earthy.

At first, all I smelled was a big wave of warm cinnamon stick, but it quickly opened up to reveal notes of soil, grass, wood, and leaves. A really nice, warm fragrance with a great earthy base and an edge of spice.
