Jack and the Devil

This smells exactly like one of those stores that sells little 'country' style trinkets and wreaths every fall that your mid-50s mom and grandma go nuts for. I absolutely love it - this is literally fall in a bottle (or, at least, those stores in the fall which is definitely part of fall). It's VERY spicy on the dry down for me and I am here for it - heavy hits of ginger, cinnamon, cardamom. I smell like fried apples just before they go into a pie filling. My skin doesn't bring out any of the earthy notes and I have to try VERY hard and inhale deeply to get a slight note of moss and patchouli. It definitely smells like a candle and I don't mind that at all (but then I can be quite into atmospherics). The imagery is strong with this one, which is what I want in a fragrance. I am making spicy pies and cutting harvested fruits whilst watching the leaves change to bright orange and red outside. I'm in burnt orange courdory pants and a coordinating thick cream sweater and boots. I'm probably going to go to a carnival where they bob for apples or a pumpkin patch on the weekend...did I mention fall is my favorite season? Anyway, I'm ordering some and will spray it on my pillows at the first sign of leaves changing color. I, actually, don't mind at all smelling like pumpkin spice and country knick-knack stores and my grandma's fall kitchen. Sillage is very good here so make sure you don't mind smelling like a fall spice candle (which I don't). This is like a 9/10 for me - such a nostalgia factor.

I received a sample of this one and initially it was not what I was expecting.TBH I'm not sure what I was expecting. I honestly grew "in-like" with it and dare I say, I feel love developing lol. It totally gives me MAC Velvet Teddy vibes. Not that it smells the same, but if there were a category or genre of scents, these two would be there together. Its a-lot rounder and mellowed then Velvet Teddy, but they both have that tobacco/vanilla yumminess. Idk kinda reminds me of a pumpkin pie with smoke in the background. I see a full bottle purchase in the future. ;-)

Smells like spiced apples in fall with a hint of a walk in a mossy forest - just my kinda fragrance. This is perfect for people who are more on the androgynous side - especially women - who do not like the extra sweet or floral smell of usual perfumes for ladies. If you like deep, forestry smells with spice - this is for you! You do not have to put this a lot or everyday it lasts on your clothes and skin for long!

A very soft smelling perfume. At first smells very much like vanilla, spices and even chocolate somehow. The tobacco and other scents come a bit later. It lasts VERY long, almost ridiculously so. Perfect for both men and women and for evenings out or wearing it in a coffee shop by the day.

I love it. It smells like walking down the sidewalk on a crisp fall day. It has sort of a red hot candy smell to it, mixed with pumpkin spice.

This is a wonderful, earthy perfume with insane lasting power, especially for an indie oil. I put a few drops of the oil on my inner wrists this morning. It is now evening and I am still getting soft wafts of the fragrance, even though I ran errands, went for a long and sweaty walk (warm weather), sunbathed, PLUS all the hand washing I’ve done. I get mainly pumpkin and some sort of dark, earthiness, like the layers of leaves on the forest floor. The pumpkin is very natural smelling. It is not pumpkin pie or pumpkin spice latte. The color palette I picture is dark brown, pumpkin orange, and forest green. This fragrance is extremely unique yet wearable. It feels natural, rounded, soft, and rich. Definitely unusual. I quite like it.

Jack & the Devil just may be my new favorite scent for fall. I've had many home fragrances that contained pumpkin, but this is the first personal fragrance I've tried with it. I sure have been missing out. It's fantastic! Sweet, spicy, and utterly delectable vanilla-pumpkin surrounded by woody patchouli and moss with a hint of tobacco.

I love oak moss, so I decided to sample this one. Glad I did, but it's not for me. The spices overpower the oak moss, and after that initial blast of pumpkin, spices are all I really get. It's just not my style. That being said, I love that Solstice Scents tries unique things with their scents. Even when you see a perfume with notes that look familiar, SS is bound to do something unusual with the combination. Their smoke note is not anyone else's smoke note (if fact they have numerous smoke notes), their marshmallow is far different from anyone else's marshmallow, and their tobacco is a thing all its own. Because of this, it's worth trying scents you think you might not like as well as ones you'd traditionally gravitate towards, cause their take on traditional notes and combinations will surprise you! Keep being weird and wonderful, Solstice Scents!

To me, this perfume spells terrible. Like really really bad. This fragrance has a distinct aroma of autumnal Yankee Candle and cinnamon altoids. Not fun. Very scary. I can't rate the performance because I had to scrub this. Sorry solstice scents, this one is nasty.

This one is hugely popular in the forums, often hailed as a Holy Grail Autumn scent of pumpkin with smoke and tobacco, but wow, it didnt' do that for me. I got a sticky foody pumpkin first on, combined with rank, rotting leaves and dirt, but it rapidly dried from there to be a much more mellow and tolerable leaf mold, loam and warm skin spice scent, almost what a forest witch might smell like. On full dry down, it's a gorgeous green oakmoss, which I adore. That being said, my sister got the coveted pumpkin tobacco smoky walk in the woods version when she tried it, and promptly bought a full bottle. So I'd recommend people take advantage of Solstice Scents' very reasonable Build Your Own Sample Set offer and try this one as a sample. Many people love it, I'm just not one of them. Until dry down,anyway, but I don't want to wait.

Holy F! I love this. It's Halloween-ey but earthy/vegetal like Gunnerson's- which is my fave SS. Pumpkin vanilla latte with the Foxcroft night. I fkin love this! An official day wear gives me a Fall/Halloween pumpkin vibe on top of the Edge of Night blend. I love EoN, so Jack is quite possibly my new favorite SS. And two weeks later, a store restock brought back Jack! I am beyond excited for the EDP of this.

This is like Tobacco Vanille + Pumpkin Spice. Definitely has an autumn vibe, and is a bit earthy. I think it's pretty enjoyable if you like those things, and it's pretty unisex as well. It's not the type of thing I wear all the time, like many from SS, but I can always appreciate the artistry, and also like many from SS, it's excellent at evoking a specific atmosphere and feeling.

Reminds me of the Witches’ Brew scent from Yankee Candle
