Midnight Marquee

This is the first solstice scent perfume I purchased in a FS oil. I can't afford the EDP, but I kind of wish I would have. The throw and sillage on the oil is pretty bad, I'd say two hours before it fades. At this rate, I'll be done with it in a few months. But that's because this scent is INCREDIBLE. It wasn't my favorite at first, but like with most of these other commenters, it grew on me over time. It IS sickly sweet, and it IS odd and cloying—the combination of notes almost combines to form an artificial cherry—but in the sexiest, ooziest, raunchiest way humanly possible. Despite buying this in summer thinking it wouldn't match the vibe, I was surprised that I didn't find it too heavy for this heat wave of a New York summer! If anything, the languid heat of the leather and gasoline makes the scent even sexier and more powerful. All three of the main notes (gas, leather and patchouli) are blended so well together. As it fades, I'm only left with the barest hint of a vanilla. Please give this one a try, it's really something else! You will feel very sexy in it, as previously stated!

oh my, i'm just now getting into fragrances and so i got a couple of samples from solstice scents (apologies if i'm not super experienced on analyzing perfumes!) i had a similar experience to many other reviewers here where i had an initial confusion, if not slight repulsion from the scent on application. i got an oil sampler and it comes out VERY sweet at the very outset, but i have been addictively wanting to come back to this as it settles into this sweet, leathery, automotive-based aroma with vanilla in and out of them. this is definitely for people who want a unique perfume. there's a review down here that mentions david lynch and laura palmer and i wholeheartedly agree. it is sweet, dark, slightly sinister, nostalgic, and sexy--the epitome of lynch's americana. i can't decide if i want to order a 5ml oil roller or EDP next-- the oil doesn't have much sillage and lies more intimately on the skin, but maybe it's better that way.

A very sickly-sweet scent. It smells like very earthly-sweet leather and gasoline, almost florally-sweet. I remember not being able to wear this at first and kind of detesting it because it made me want to puke when smelling it on myself, but I’ve recently revisited it and find it very pleasurable, and INCREDIBLY(!!!) unique. I actually put this scent away under my sink about a year ago, but recently happened to smell an area on my carpet where I spilled it. I couldn’t remember what scent it was I was smelling at first but it infatuated me. I dug around my room for an hour looking for it, and it was time well spent because I wear this almost daily now. I’ve never smelled anything like it. If anyone here is a fan of David Lynch you will 100% love this. It’s sweet in a Laura Palmer way, but dark in a leather jacket and biker way, and it’s almost gut-wrenching smelling those two worlds together.

A new SS favorite. I’ve had a sample for about a year now. I tried it immediately and liked it out of the bottle. But it did not seem to work on my skin. Maybe I decided too soon because the opening is intense. I recently retried it and have been wearing it all week and have a full roller ball on the way. The opening is crazy strong so don’t judge too soon. It is fuel/gasoline so it can be off putting. But once it settles it’s so amazing and unique. I really don’t detect any individual note except for the gasoline. Maybe patchouli? Maybe soil? I thought I smelled popcorn but it’s not listed as a note? Kinda does have that movie theater smell. I think it’s the musks in this that I really like. It is very dark and mysterious yet approachable and definitely unique.

I received a sample of Midnight Marquee from a destash, and if I am being honest, I would have NEVER picked this out on my own. The notes are 100% not my thing. But, oh my goodness, am I ever glad this came across my path! Simply put, it is phenomenal. It opens with leather - a tire store smell (similar to Bvlgari Black), but I also quickly get the gasoline, tobacco, fallen leaves, and a mild dirt scent. Vanilla weaves its way through all of these notes, too, turning the whole blend into an incredibly sexy composition. I agree with a previous poster who said it smells expensive. It totally reads as a high end niche perfume. Highly recommend this one, even if you think the notes are not you.

Great one. I could have sworn there was some vetiver in there, maybe just the outcome of interaction between the notes. Now the leather is the suede type and to me it is not dominating the composition at all. Despite the heavy-looking notes, I'd say this is a mid-weight composition and a bit on the drier side. Leaning slightly towards masculine but women should not have any problems wearing this either. Overall very well blended.

really perfectly captures each note listed! the end result is more of a cool experience rather than something i actually want to wear, but impressive nevertheless. it's very distinctly a chilly autumn day with gasoline, soil, leather, tobacco, and dried leaves. if you want something to evoke that, this is perfect. longevity could be better though. overall rating: 🩷🩷🩷💔🖤 3.5/5

Sweet and creamy (literal cream... thick double cream cloying on your tongue) at first bite, but then it's all grimy old biker leathers and dusty old patchouli. Atmospheric and dark, but not as bright and shocking as the gasoline note might have you expect. Wear this the next time you're spending an afternoon alone with a noir novel, and set the scene for yourself.

wearing this today - cannot believe how awesome this one is! It smells expensive, exquisite, elegant. I strongly believe that if people smelled this, they would guess it was something high end, like £150 and above. While the leather stands out most to me, I would not say this smelled like leather goods, more like inky leather.

Gasoline, dirt, suede, and crisp mountain air. Very well blended perfume.

I got this mixed up with Maine Moon which has some sweeter notes, and this one is not for me! Smells heavily of leather and gasoline. I detect some slight sweetness (vanilla?) which kept me from otherwise really despising this scent. It's well blended and a good unisex, masc leaning scent for fall/winter. Just not a scent for me personally!

In theory I should love this. I love dark, heavy scents with a lot of ingredients that happen to be dark in color. (For example, I love solstice scents' Private Eye, which isn't listed on this site.) However, this isn't for me, and it's the gasoline that does it. Instead of Midnight Marquee, this could be named Foxcroft Bike Week. It smells like a motorcycle rally, so if you own a Harley, this would be perfect for you. It's heavy on the leather and the gasoline and makes me think of 1950s greasers working in the local garage. As usual, it's definitely atmospheric and wonderfully unique, but I can't wear it because I know myself well enough to know the gas would give me a headache. I washed it off after half an hour. I wanted to see how it would develop, but I couldn't. If you love heavy, strong, and bold, go for it! Just be careful rocking it in an office setting since others may be sensitive to it. For me, I'll stick with the beautiful Black Leather, Red Lace and Maine Moon for my leather fix.

Midnight Marquee makes me think of a noir-esque episode of your favorite contemporary television series (remember when they did that with Pretty Little Liars? P.S. are you a PLL fan? Let’s chat!) It’s as if a black and white filter has been draped over what might otherwise be a creamy, sarsaparilla-y vanilla musk, lending it an air of melodrama and intrigue. The gasoline and leather ride in, circling, bold, intimidating, at first, but then settle down and combine with the sweet, earthy tobacco and moss to create a gorgeously atmospheric, full-bodied femme fatale of a scent.

This one smells exactly like the notes above but not in the best way. I will say it smells as good as a Replica perfume, if they made dark scented fragrances. The soil and gasoline is strong on a base of sweet tart candies. It gives me a headache, but I can see others enjoying it. It’s kind of cutsie, and very indie. I probably would have liked it a lot more in my teens/early twenties.

Gasoline, leather and patchouli, all at once? I want it! I need a sample! I've always wanted to be able to taste the scent of gasoline in a fragrance. If MM lives up to the expectations, what could I wish for more than a bouquet of vanilla, benzene, tobacco and patchouli? It would be my go-to!
