Mountain Vanilla

the imagery this fragrance evokes is nothing short of captivating. a mountainside swathed in vegetation—the sun begins its crawl upward from its horizon blanket, leaden stone donning its gentle yellow light. dewdrops decorate the earth before you, alive with fresh, wet greenery; you breathe in deep the cool air of spring morning in Appalachia. initially, i wasn't a fan of Mountain Vanilla. my partner was the one to introduce me to it. i found it to be way too powerful, and honestly, offensive. however, after truly immersing myself in it, taking in each note and absorbing the bigger picture they paint, i can say with absolute certainty that it's now one of my all-time favorites. SS captured a dewy morning on a mountain, liquified it, and put it in a bottle. i am blown away. the performance is incredible. long wear, and projects enough to be a bit of a head turner. for the first 1-2 hours on skin, it's primarily clover, dew, coumarin—once this settles, a delectable blend of vanilla, lavender, and musk underneath makes itself known. i'll be adding this to my personal collection as soon as i can. ♡

Such an odd scent ....and I like it. Mountain Vanilla has a mentholated green grass quality combined with meadow flowers, and underneath all that is vanilla. So many unusual notes in this blend, and at the same time it’s very natural wearing. I really appreciate that I’ve never smelled anything like it. I’m on the “top of a mountain in the Alps” feeling. A well executed, fun perfume with good performance.

For hours to me this smells like nothing but nystatin oral solution (for those who had the luck of never getting thrush, it's a bitter antifungal medication). Then hours later it morphs into the first vanilla scent I not only appreciate but really really love. I don't know what's weirder, the fact that this smells 100% like something it's not 'supposed to' (at first), or the fact that it changes over an uncanny amount of time (scents usually go through all the 'phases' within the first 15-30min or so). I hate vanilla scents. I would actually get a full bottle of this and endure the nystatin hours just to smell the way it smells afterwards. It's that good.

It's like drinking iced vanilla green tea while eating the freshest mixed herb salad greens. I don't get any of the offputting notes in other reviews, thankfully. I almost didn't try this one due to the multiple reviews of a banana like scent (I hate bananas), but again, thankfully, I don't detect it on my skin! I love solstice scents because they are so place-based and can really stir my memories and creativity. This scent actually takes me back to a summer I spent exploring the Swiss Alps; faint notes of grasses, herbs, and wildflowers under the brilliant summer sun, brief wafts of warm vanilla from a bakery between hikes. It's light and lovely.

Super green almost a little piney? Smells like going for a hike in the early summer. I think the vanilla mellows it out a little but I actually dont register it in and of itself so much but as to how it may be acting on the other notes. Reminds me of the parks in Tennessee to be specific. I like it quite a bit but unfortunately doesnt last on my skin but a minute- or fifteen really

This is the indie version of Aura by Mugler. They both have that medicinal, green, herbal vanilla. It’s both strange and pleasant, to my nose. So far, I’m not convinced there’s anything from solstice scents that I don’t like.

This is such a cozy, airy, sunny, green take on vanilla. This smells like lying on a checkerboard blanket, having a picnic on a warm sunny day in a field of clover.

Green, herbal vanilla that is reminiscent somehow of being in a green forest. I wouldn't categorize it first as sweet as it it more medicinal than anything else in my opinion. I'm not a fan of green scents but this isn't strange to my nose, there's something very familiar about it that I haven't quite figured out. It's pretty nice but not my type of scent, definitely a warmer weather, day time scent.

Interesting, very very green to the point where vanilla is barely there for me. Someone else said green banana, which I can see, but perfumey. It’s like unpeeling a very unripe banana, you get that really fresh scent of a banana that’s sure to be hard and dry af but with the tiniest hint of vanilla playdough in the back. I don’t know, I’ll try again in spring but I don’t think this is for me.

I'm very impressed with Solstice Scents and have enjoyed sampling several of their fragrances. Unfortunately, Mountain Vanilla is one that I just don't like. I usually like aromatic green scents, which this is, and I usually like vanilla scents, which this is, but there is something about the combination of these notes that I find rather unpleasant. This one missed the mark for me.

I don't know why I keep trying things from Solstice Scents, they all smell like candles to me. Not good. 4/10

Silk vine looms large in Mountain Vanilla, possibly larger than the vanilla. I recognized this fragrance right away as a primarily woody scent with a prominent and very specific green milky note. I identified this silk vine note in Providence Perfume's sandalwood focused and 100% natural Vientiane. Since these two fragrances are not exactly dupes but maybe close siblings, I'm led to believe that Solstice uses high percentages of naturals as well. Mountain Vanilla is not what I would reach for if I was looking for a vanilla (natural or otherwise) but I do very much enjoy it for a unique approach to exploring wood's many sensual facets, and also as a more affordable alternative to Vientiane. Green, silky and sensual like sandalwood and rice steam, creamy in a unique savory aromatic way, this one is worth a sniff. Thanks to the lovely member who sent me a sample to test.

Described as “...a coumarin-heavy scent with vanilla and light green elements,” Mountain Vanilla is...not the vanilla that I thought it was going to be! I guess that’s what I get for not reading the full description until just now. Coumarin, if you are wondering, is described as smelling of new-mown hay–and there is definitely a warm, sweetly herbaceous aspect to this fragrance. Don’t be put off by the opening notes, which smelled aggressively chemical to my nose for a few moments; it’s a stinging tang that burns off quickly before those grassy vanilla notes and subtle green nuances materialize. I don’t think I’ve ever smelled anything quite like it; it really does evoke imagery of an Appalachian meadow brimming with sweet clover and dew-dappled ferns and the soft musk of a Bambi or two.

this scent is bizarre. i can't tell if i like it or not. the opening is like smelling a farm, there's a hay smell but it's also green and almost animalic? the vanilla is much more subtle than the green notes. i don't really get banana. i get a farm in the alps during the spring. very interesting imagery.

Smells like a green banana to me, which shouldn't really surprise me. Green and grassy notes for the unripe sharpness, then coumarin and vanilla for the fruity banana aspects.

This smells like mold... so much mold. Like a molded heap of apple cores thrown atop a heap of compost soil and drizzled with vanilla and tonka.
