Snowshoe Pass

I won a sample of Snowshoe Pass (thank you, Solstice Scents), and it is everything I imagined it would be and more! The fragrance is a gorgeous, delicious, creamy mint. Peppermint ice cream is my favorite flavor--specifically peppermint, not green mint with chocolate chips, just white peppermint, and this reminds me so much of peppermint ice cream. It also makes me think of Junior Mints. While Snowshoe Pass is certainly gourmand, I was very pleasantly surprised at the fact that it also smelled like a bonafide perfume, in every sense of the word. It's not just a linear, one-dimensional novelty scent. There is more going on than one might assume. When I saw aldehydes in the notes, I thought it was genius. I really smell them, and they are what makes Snowshoe Pass so wearable, not completely and totally edible. I could see myself wearing this year-round. I also get a lot of amber in the base, which lends to the creaminess. They certainly did not go nuts with vanilla but added just a touch of it. The mint is actually very discreet. I would not characterize Snowshoe Pass as "fresh", and luckily it also does not smell anything like toothpaste. The blending of mint, as well as the other notes, is so well-done that it is truly a full-bodied fragrance. Everything I have ever sampled from Solstice Scents has been fantastic. I feel they do gourmands beautifully but also some more natural, woody fragrances.

LOVE this. I'm a bit confused by reviewers comparing it to peppermint ice cream. To me, the ozonic notes are absolutely front-and-center. Somewhat reminiscent of the herbal-aquatic-green perfumes popular in the early 2000's, but without the toilet-cake connotations that plague that genre. The rest of the notes sit way in the background to my nose - a bit of airy warmth from the amber and vanilla, the slightest whiff of warm-clean-skin from the musk. These notes become more detectable after several hours of wear, but still stay balanced. This is very much a pleasant perfume scent, rather than evocative of food or outdoor experiences. It does not evolve much on the dry down, but it lasts for hours - a reliable, likable, non-challenging perfume. I'm ordering full-size as a lovely "every-day" scent.

I'm immediately obsessed with this and really bummed that they're sold out of the EDP. I like to be heavy handed with my perfume so an oil isn't ideal. Still, this is such a sweet and creamy peppermint, but a soft peppermint, not spicy like in the description. And also not a super youthful sweetness, just beautiful. I was curious about the "cold wind" note but something about this really does smell like cold air, even though it's a warm and cozy scent. It smells like a winter or fall scent but light enough for year round. My husband loves the scent on me. A new favorite for sure. I just have a tester but will be ordering a full size. Side note- I find this fairly feminine, not unisex... just fyi but gender norms are dumb anyway. :-)

The only way I can think of to describe this perfume is a sweet, heavenly cloud of fluffy, snuggly, cozy, vanilla yumminess! There's a light hint of cool peppermint in the background that, when paired with the amber and musk, gives me the feeling of going for a brisk, snowy walk with the cold kissing at your nose, but you don't mind because you're snuggled up in a thick coat and there's a warm fire and mug of something hot waiting for you at home! It’s frosty walks in the snow during the holidays, cozy woolly scarves, and warm hugs.

Review for the EDP: This is my go-to cold weather perfume. I get a clean white amber, with a hint of warm vanilla balanced with cool peppermint to keep it fresh. Sprayed 2-3 times, it’s discreet and stays close to the wearer (this is preferable for me as I work in close contact with others). Though technically a winter scent, I could see it working all year round due to its clean and fresh profile.

I am basically echoing everyone else because it’s true - cool yet fluffy and cozy scent. I tend to be hesitant with musk but this is done right for me. I love the combination of warmth and coolness, it is very well done. Also, as a side note, it is a “perfume” type of scent — and I mean that in the best way!

This is a cozy fur coat in below freezing weather vanilla -- The warmth of musk and amber with the mint giving a background chill. I could have done with a little more mint, but this is a lovely vanilla. This scent doesn't grow and change much, but it's lasted over 24 hrs

Review based on an EDP sample, recommended by many as a favorite in Solstice Scents Winter Collection. Totally agree with @LittleHoot's review: this is an ozonic, cold white musk wrapped in white amber. Snowshoe Pass is so dense and well-blended, it's difficult to pick out individual notes, especially the vanilla and mint. I don't feel like either of these are main accords, just accents to sweeten and give it that cool, winter vibe. It honestly smells so luxe. The first words out of my mouth were, "Oh wow, that's strong and sharp. Ozonic, maybe a little green? I smell sweet balsam more than mint. This smells like rich people on a ski outing." It IS like being outdoors on a cold winter day: sharp ozone, clean laundry, and the fading scents of ubiquitous holiday sweets. It's definitely better at a distance and over time as the sharper accords lighten up. The late drydown is much more musky and ambery but still crispy clean. It would be good for the daytime, winter to early spring. Interesting blend but feels familiar, almost cozy, and is largely inoffensive. Extremely wearable, very much a "your skin but better" frag on me, sticks pretty close. Surprisingly great longevity. I sprayed it 15hr ago and can still smell it if I put my nose to it. Leans slightly femme but advertized unisex. Well, gender aside, Snowshoe Pass exudes "buoyant, clean, calm and competent." It's very soothing and makes me feel weirdly optimistic and at-ease. It's a perfect balance of warm and cold. This might be a scent I reach for when I don't know what to wear. I don't think you can go wrong with this one. :)

What a beautiful way to do vanilla! 😍 First off, this is completely unisex. The vanilla is the star of the show, but lends space for the musk + amber and mint to help add depth and freshen the scent. Another reviewer mentioned the duality as it’s cozy and warm, but also cool and fresh, and I think it’s perfectly captured in this scent. This was a successful blind buy for me and I’m really happy to have it in my collection. My juice has a nice whiskey brown to it, and it’s very clear that the scent has had time to age and become even stronger than it probably already was. While it’s not a powerhouse of a scent, it does have a good longevity, stands well in cooler climates, and I feel it would be even nice to wear once it’s warmer. I’m thankful to not be getting the kids toothpaste vibe that someone else mentioned. I just get a beautiful ambery, vanilla with a touch of mint. Snowshoe Pass is my second from this house and I will say I’m very impressed with the quality of Solstice Scents. If you can still find this one around, give it a try. Take a break from the sugary sweet candy vanillas we smell all the time. 😂 Edit: I sold it 😊

(Sampling the oil, not the EDP...) In the vial and at first application, it smelled remarkably like BPAL Morocco, that milky-sweet rice-pudding type of scent. But as Snowshoe Pass settles, it does move into a chillier variety of sweet, the vanilla ice cream scent I’ve liked in SS's White Fox. This one makes me think of Easter candy collected on a chilly, dewy lawn. There’s also something that reminds me of SS's Manor; that variety of ambient old-house sweetness, but subtler than in Manor. I get only the tiniest breath of mint; I wouldn’t call this a minty scent on the whole, at least not on me. It’s just enough to give it a cool-temperature feeling. So far I’d say it’s a lovely middle ground between Manor and White Fox, both of which are excellent, so it’s no surprise I’m really liking the atmosphere of this one too! As it wears: good longevity. Hangs around and smells good. A cozy, pleasant, outdoorsy, cool vanilla.

I have been wanting to test Snowshoe Pass for *ages*! I finally got my hands on a sample vial (oil) and tried it today. In the beginning, the mint is prominent, and actually has some projection. The mint sticks around for a little less than an hour. Then... pepper? I swear, I smell black pepper! Maybe a pinch of nutmeg, too - it's weird! I don't know what (synthetic) musk is used for this fragrance, but it's coming across like a cozy black pepper scent. Edit: I think the amber is responsible here, but this morning my arm still smelled like white chocolate. Wow.

One of my favorites from Solstice Scents. The white amber combined with musk and vanilla and creamy peppermint is so evocative of a snowy winters night. Absolutely gorgeous! I received a sample with one of my orders and immediately ordered the 60ml EDP.

A chilly, minty and vanilla fragrance. Distinctly wintry but not in a “Christmas candle” kind of way. The musk seems to balance it out so it doesn’t lean too heavy in the “cloyingly sweet” direction.

My second favorite from this house, after snowmint mallow. With Snowshoe Pass, the mint is a bit less prominent, but still provides the 'chill' effect. A lovely, creamy mint fragrance.

The opening is full on vanilla-mint bubblegum. I think the slight hint of blonde woods adds to the chewy/waxy texture that makes this scent so spot-on. That's just not really what I want to smell like, especially from a fragrance called, SNOWSHOE PASS. As an Alaskan I might be a bit too hard on this fragrance but it smells more like children's toothpaste than a winter day spent outside. The woods do become stronger in the long dry down but it retains the impression of bubble gum just gradually getting less sweet (like gum in real life). Review of official PERFUME EXTRAIT rollerball purchased directly from SolsticeScents.com I wonder if the perfume spray would have a more interesting fragrance profile.

What a lovely paradox this perfume is. As you put it on you are met with a smooth, sweet blending of the musk and vanilla, then wait, is that the tickle of mint in the background? A great mixture of warm and cold.

This is a stunning combination that somehow manages to be cozy, but just a bit cool. The white musk lends and airiness and touch of freshness which keeps the vanilla and mint from straying into foodie territory.

I love Snowshoe, but this isn't for that scent...please please, add Guardian! People including myself ate in total love with this one and it deserves an entry, mods! Thank you!

This is a lovely winter gourmand. It smells very similar to eggnog in my opinion. I love it.
