This is lovely. The opening is very vibrant and has one of the best ginger accords I’ve ever smelt in a fragrance. It’s not too much, it’s just right. The opening is more fresh than I expected. The ginger settles quickly and the fragrance becomes a sweet, spicy and aromatic composition with smooth amber in the back. It’s a great balance of fresh & cosy. The opening & mid are the best parts, but the drydown isn’t bad by any means. It eventually becomes this sweet, wood & honey fragrance. It’s not too sweet and it’s not a pile of timber. It’s very well balanced. At times this reminds me of fresh laundry, but not in a gross synthetic kind of way. This is like doing your laundry with high-end, luxurious, natural soaps. This has designer qualities in a sense that it comes across as something that would be very ‘mass appealing’. That being said, it smells nothing quite like anything that I have smelt before. It’s also a little quirky. This would be perfect to wear in an array of situations, or just to enjoy around your home. As far as performance is concerned; the first hour projects moderately, then from hours 2-3 the original scent bubble gradually becomes smaller and smaller. I can still detect it off of my skin hours later, but you would need to be standing close to me to get a whiff. This being said, I’m not a believer that every scent needs to fill a room for 48 hours. I appreciate that the drydown is quite subtle, as I don’t think I would enjoy it as much if it had nuclear levels of projection. 9/10 - well done, Son Venïn 👍

At the beginning I loved it. Very unique. Warm, sweet cedar which reminded me of country homes with cedar walls, but dressed up for a modern women. Closer to 6 mos or a year after I started using the fragrance, the scent became too sweet with an overwhelming smell of apples. A few friends asked me skeptically, why do you smell like apples? LOL I wouldn’t buy it again. Perhaps the oxidation over time impacted my experience but I wore it daily, so I’m not sure what I could have done about that

Candied apples wrapped in spices. Not very sweet, though. Smells like the back of an old, disused and musty spicecabinet. Lingers on the edge of my awareness, suddenly swooping in to remind me it’s still around. Has some of the same atmosphere as Creed Royal Oud. Birchwood and Iso E Super. I might quite fancy this as my go-to as we enter fall. Good longevity. Bizarrely it pairs really well with Tom Ford Costa Azurra Aqua that I was wearing before testing 0905.

Son Venïn 09-05. A very elegant spicy fragrance with a masculine vibe. It's a bit aromatic in the top notes with ginger and dry lavender. The drydown is amazing, with leather, amber, cedar and dry woods. It has some similarities with the original Commes des Garcons edp and Diptyque eau Lente, but 09-05 is more elegant, and not so sharp. Works well both daytime and evening. Best for the colder months. Quite unique! 8/10

If there existed Wooden bees, who produced wooden honey, this is what that honey would smell like. It starts off with a bit of spice, and some sappy sweetness. Then it quickly transforms into a woody, resinous scent with a sweet almost honey like note in the base. Very pleasant smell, I'm really starting to take a liking to this scent. Perfect for fall and winter.
