Pain Nouveau

It`s amazing, just get past the short wet cornflakes opening. Apart from the fig leaves no one note stands particularly out. Its evocative of ambery bar soap, polished wood, jam, baked goods, black tea, milk and wet green foliage, all enveloped in iso e super. It presents very clean, though not quite fresh. Its difficult to describe, in a good way. All the ingredients makes a very cohesive and undefinable whole. It dries down to something very similar to Moluecule 01, after several hours. I think it`s wearable anywhere and anytime but to the beach and to the gym, given it corresponds to your style and personality.

Beautiful contradiction: Gourmand 2.0 I love this scent. It’s not linear or straight forward but full of contradiction. You need to get over the immediate opening - a bit like soggy Cornflakes or too much mimosa. After that you get lots of pepper and bergamot but with a warm, bread-like undertone. I also get the fig leaf. It’s always accompanied by a woody and warm vanilla base. It’s nothing like anything I smelled before. Not a classical gourmand by any means! Got a decant first, used it every day and then got a full bottle. Love the bottle design also. However, it’s quite pricey and sits close to the skin.

This one is really really nice. I get some vanilla-sweetness that is quite pronounced in the beginning and slowly settles into the soft bready main accord. It's cozy and clean. It's very intimate, no projection at all, which fits the concept. Unfortunately, it doesn't last too long on my skin or my nose gets used to the fragrance too easily. So this one smells sort of "human", people might not notice you wearing any fragrance and just think it's a mix of bodylotion and Sunday Brunch or your natural skin scent.

This fragrance is exactly what I wish L’Eau Papier smelled like. The sesame smell stays present all the way through, although it is not among the ingredients. This brand has absolutely gorgeous scents. If you love Scandinavian minimalism you must try their fragrances. I went ahead and bought it, and the atomizer is fantastic, it sprays such a fine mist! Truly niche quality. The scent is amazing as well.

Wow this scent takes me a on a journey, starts of with a festive bread with a bit of sweetness, then some green notes, then comes the green fig and pepper, woody warmth with milky muskiness. I tried this in a store and loved the scent immediately. At first it’s very bread-forward with like some spice and sweetness, and then over the first hour or two it transforms to be more fig focused, and at hour 3-4 it lands on this very subtle soft but amazing sort of festive bread smell. Like a mix of chai, amber, vanilla and bread. It’s super cool. My ONLY qualm is that it has no silage at all, entirely an intimate scent so I didn’t end up purchasing because you have to be right on someone to smell it at all.

Love this one. The only downside is its performance, I wish it lasted longer and projected a little further. As it is, I happily reapply it throughout the day. The intensity of bread is a bit surprising, but it’s better at the dry down. A beautifully original light comfort scent that sits close to the skin. Warm, understated and quietly captivating, it perfectly captures the spirit of Scandinavian minimalist niche perfumery.

Really interesting fragrance that starts like a 50/50 mix of flour and ground white pepper. Powdery and peppery, then going slightly aromatic and almost with a fougere-like character which doesn't last too long though. It then settles into something both creamy and peppery like a spicy smoothie. I haven't smelled anything like it.

My first impression was like, «oh, it smells like a home goods store», but obviously more balanced and not headache-loud. Bergamot – yes. Something sweetish (I can't detect vanilla) – also yes. A little bit woody. It sits intimate, close to the skin, but I just can’t get rid of the association with the Xenos scent.

Imagine freshly baked multigrain bread cooling on a wooden table. This is Pain Nouveau. The opening is aromatic, slightly green and peppery, with a hint of sweetness and traces of wet cardboard or newspaper. Mimosa, quite prominent, adds a powdery note and the smell of toasted grains on the crust. The reimagined bread accord leans toward the artisan bread category. Settles into a very skin-close scent, smooth and creamy. There is no sugary pastry feel. The vanilla is super light, like an unopened packet of vanillin sugar. Wearing it, I imagine stepping out on a spring morning, grabbing a coffee and a favorite morning treat from the bakery window, and carrying on with the day in quiet happiness. *Just a fragrance enthusiast, nothing more. To me, it opens with a clear bread out of the oven note and right after, green milky fig joins in, but only for a few minutes. I wish that opening lingered longer. After that incredibly delicious start, the mid notes reminded me of suncream. Not in a bad way but definitely suncream and summer skin. That lasted a while, and than settled into a warm, not too sweet, comforting vanilla. This is the first vanilla I’ve ever liked on perfume. I love it! Can’t get enough of it. I have to try it many times though to see how it behaves in different moments on my skin. So far so good!

Yes, this does remind me of Diptyque - L'eau Papier, and I think I am qualified to say it as an owner of L'eau Papier. It's not as smooth and delicate, I think Pain Nouveau is a bit more dense and in your face, but it is still really lovely. If you really like that scent profile that L'eau papier gives, I think you would def love this one.
