Rose Volupté

Roses, Roses Galore. Smells as if the roses in my garden were bottled. The complex listing of notes doesn't in and of themselves smell like the notes listed but rather add to the whole in creating a real living rose in nature. And what a rose it is! A deep, dark sultry red rose grown in situ, full-blown at its ripest and most potently lush and sweet stage of scent. Yes, there is a little fruitiness in such a rose which the plum perfectly captures, as does the light application of clove and cinnamon in adding that natural spiciness these dark sultry beauties possess. The amber and sandalwood amps up the photorealism to a rose shrub smothered in full nectarous bloom. Aptly named, as this is voluptuous and just breathtaking! I want a bottle of this. I need a bottle of this. I will have a bottle of this. Oh no, I'm already obsessed!

This is a beautiful rose w/ lots of plum. I own many fruity rose perfumes, but I've never encountered one that uses so much plum. Red Door by Elizabeth Arden has plum and rose but there are so many other notes in that perfume and so much going on that it creates a more overall effect, you can smell notes at times, but it is a very complex scent. This is a jammy rose w/ loads of plum and soft spices and woods. Almost like a rose wine. I am a rose lover and I think this one just shot up to full bottle statis. Delicious, jammy, and rich rose delight.

I have put off writing this review for over a year because I don't have the skills to do it justice. I'm going to keep it simple. Plummy, juicy, lush, sweet, syrupy, ripe, fresh, complex rose. I'm not ordinarily a big rose fan (though there are a few notable exceptions) because honestly so many of them are nice for a few minutes and then I'm bored. This keeps me wanting more for the entire day; it seems very alive and dynamic. I have an overwhelming feeling of smelling something real when I wear this. Really well done.

What I love most about Rose Volupte is the honeyed effect of the plum, cinnamon and cloves to sweeten this ripe red rose. It wears very musky due to the labdanum and ambergris. This is a very fleshy rose perfume. If you miss Sa Majeste la Rose (boy do I ever), Rose Volupte may scratch that itch. Yummiful!

Oh my. The most "overtly ripe" perfume I've ever smelled. This is a deep red plush, plump, silky rose positively dripping with sticky plummy, spiced nectar. Sophisticated? No way. Uninhibited yet innocent. Like young love. Wear this and seduce yourself.

With a hefty dose of fruit, cinnamon, and cloves, this has a vibe like hot spiced apple cider with rum, combined with a deep syrupy rose. It is quite comforting and delicious! Low sillage, a cuddling scent.

147 This is a lovely plummy wine, musky rose. It projects well and is moderate lasting. I love this in warm weather as it brings out its best. 8/10- smells like a real rich rose

Rose Volupte is the first of four samples from SSS that I have tested and worn - the other three await me. I should state at the outset that I love rose notes in perfumes. Even a basic essential rose oil lifts my spirits, but I also crave complex perfumes that combine incense, patchouli, or chypre notes with rose. I think Rose Volupte is an extraordinary rose perfume. On me, it lasted 12+ hours and it is still pleasantly drifting up from my coat collar a day later. It is a strong, rich, fruity, complex rose. I do not get distinct impressions of the other notes, nor do I perceive different, successive stages of notes from opening, middle, to dry down. Instead, all of the notes are blended together in the experience of this perfume, so that Rose Volupte never feels too simple or univocal. At times, I picked up a little more of the sweet fruitness, at others, a little more of the sandalwood, but the overall impression always remained a fresh, multi-faceted rose--like a wonderfully scented antique rose bush with many buds and blooms moving in a summer breeze. I agree with the previous reviewer's comparison of Rose Volupte to SL La Fille de Berlin, although Rose Volupte does not have the peppery but (in my experience) extremely short-lived opening of La Fille and its roses last much longer. I also think Rose Volupte has some of the same depth and longevity as the rose that is at the center of Portrait of a Lady, without the layers of patchouli and incense that encircle and sometimes veil the flower in Ropion's creation.

Mature, strong, old-fashioned, gorgeous rose (with hints of clove, as a real rose may have!). After about 30 minutes other notes come into play - woody and spicy and musky and incense-y. Everything is bright, creamy, rich, and LONG LASTING about this choice rose. The rose I have which bears comparison would be Calligraphy Rose, only that is more incense oriented. If you are looking for a pretty, modern, pink rose look elsewhere. If you want something timeless and bold, consider finding a sample of Rose Volupte before committing. The scent will smell different on everyone, and that is no bad thing. Gorgeous.

Normally I'm not a plum lover, but this one is scrumptious and rich. A big juicy late july plum perfumed with smokey incense and Baltic amber on a bed of dewy peach-colored rose petals generously sprinkled with Mexican cinnamon. This one pulls me back and forth - one moment it's warm and smokey, then the next it feels clean and almost soapy. Regardless, I recommend this one. Like all Sonoma Scent Studio fragrances I've tried, this one doesn't have even a hint of synthetics and feels so authentic and organic.

Beautiful rose backed with bursting-at-the-seams jamminess and floral deliciousness. Not as much plum as I was hoping for, instead, the aldehydes back it up as well as some cedar woodiness and cinn-clove spiciness. It just plays a little too femme for me, if such a thing even exists, and may appeal more to ladies than the gents. I would've loved to see some cumin in the back to funk it up a little, or even a heavier resin presence. All things considered, though, this is quite beautiful...
