A Light in the Attic

I own both the Oil rollerball version and the EDP. Oil version: Smells like a roasted marshmallow campfire smoke and an autumn forest lingering in the background. This is what I hoped By the fireplace smelled like. EDP: Still the above smell but I'm getting a stronger juniper and suede making it a little less sticky sweet but the dry down ends up smelling just like the oil! I absolutely love both and I can't wait to wear them in the Fall time and for all the spooky Halloween activities!

A quasi-gourmand I don't hate. I'm not big on sweet scents, but I am finding that the sweetness of the maple is tempered somewhat by the smoke and the spiciness of the resin and juniper. It's still sweet, but not in a candy, food kind of way. It is indeed rather evocative of an attic or an old wooden steamer trunk dried and sweetened over time with the patina of many lifetimes. There's a bit of a potpourri sensibility about it too, especially in the opening, but it's not too floral-heavy. It's got the almost rotted-rose sweetness without the floral facet. Feels like faded velvet, dust, dry air, dried plants, and old, old vanilla oil seeped into maple wood. An interesting scent, a little more nuanced than I have generally experienced Sorce scents to be. The thoughtfulness of it was a bit of a pleasant surprise. 7/10.

this perfume smells post apocalyptic in the best way, like it’s been sat in an abandoned house for twenty years as the world falls to shit outside. a light in the attic quite literally smells like being boarded up in an old falling apart building during a fall rain storm with a small candle burning at the centre of the room for some sort of light. it’s a resinous faded vanilla-maple smell, semi dusty and vintage possibly from the suede with a noticeable smokey hit at the beginning. not as sweet as some may think, not as pungent albeit super unique. like sniffing a very old candle almost, really cool to me and reminds me of my favourite game the last of us!

My nose is confused.. There are things that I love about this fragrance. It's mysterious, it's smokey, it's airy. That burnt, smokey vanilla scent is so interesting and lovely. I can pick up a tiny bit of the maple, too, which is fun. But the suede... the suede is just so present. I have a hard time getting past it. It smells like a new purse, in a bitter way. That smokey vanilla side is so addictive, though. I love the smokey vanilla aspect. Which one wins? I don't know, and my nose doesn't either.

This just smells like you live in a house full of cigarette smokers.
