Beyond the Veil

To balance out the negative reviews...I love this perfume. Right out the gate, it is a LOVE. People seem to only want to smell like food or dessert these days and dislike florals. To each their own. This is a stunning Iris fragrance. It’s NOT gourmand and wasn’t meant to be. This is an ethereal fairy garden bottled up. She’s purple, she’s opalescent, she’s floral, powdery, creamy and just dreamy and lovely. It’s less sweet and not as powdery as Unicorn Horn by Arcana Wildcraft and in the same vein as Vampire Wife by Sorce. A love for me. Glad I bought the 50ml💜🫶🏼

my childhood home had beautiful purple and brown irises lining our driveway, this smells like that. plus sandalwood and chocolate. i’ve seen this described as a wedding scent and i can definitely see that, it makes me think of a purple fairy themed wedding. my only issue with this is it doesnt really project at all, you have to get super up close to my skin to smell it. regardless of that it is a beautiful scent

Yummy yummy sweet gourmandy floral scent!

A truly lovely, light powdery floral musk. This has a sweet floral quality and then is powdery and a touch of musky. Absolutely no "spunk" smell - literally don't even know how someone would be getting that from this lol. This is light, girly and whimsical. It stays quite close to skin and I think is one you could wear everywhere, for every occasion. I'm toying with the idea of a larger sample. I don't think it will be a full bottle for me just because I tend not to lean into powdery perfumes, but if you love a sweet, vintage, floral, airy perfume I think you'll really enjoy this. Plus the bottle is precious!

if you don’t like iris/powdery notes, this is not the fragrance for you!! but oh my gosh it is so comfy, vintage powdery, slightly sweet goodness! not a gourmand at all, just something super delicate and sensitive (?). i loveee a good powdery scent, but it smells very much like elevated baby powder (kind of like intimissimi no. 1?) so i’ll hold off on buying this for now!

Smells gorgeous! A slightly sweet, powdery iris scent. However, it is very very light. I have to put my nose up to it to smell it even just a couple minutes after spraying. Hopefully it’ll get stronger with time. Definitely feminine leaning.

soooo sweet - i can't distinguish any note besides just sweet/gourmand which i assume is the white chocolate. it feels like a simplified ephemera, at least on my skin, and feels much heavier than i expected. i'm hoping i can get more of the florals and powderiness over time because i love the name and faerie inspiration. has little more projection than a skin scent, but lasts 5+ hours and still going strong like most other sorce edps. glad i was able to sample and did not blind buy this one like i typically do with sorce.

I love Sorce, but I'm not very fond of this perfume. It's very powdery and the powder sticks around into the mid. The drydown is a light vanilla, but not worth all that powderiness IMHO. So, if you enjoy powdery perfumes, you'll probably love this, but it's not for me.

Doused my hand in this perfume trying to smell my sample. Absolutely no smell?? Just the initial alcohol smell then skin.

A very sweet musk scent. A touch of iris. I thought I was going to like this more than I do.

This smelt like a plastic baby doll head with some powder, super faint and disappeared pretty quickly on me. The girl a few comments down said everyone wants to smell like desserts, but I actually love Iris, powder, musks, florals and sandalwood. I love Sorce and usually love their take on fragrances, but this perfume just fell so short of my expectations when it came to reading the notes. I anticipated it being in the same ethereal realm as Dama Bianca or Lilyphea, but it just isn't. It’s so light to point of being non existent. I’m sure ph has something to do with it, but even on paper it was giving me a whole lot of nothing. I wish I smelt what everyone else is raving about, but it’s a no for me. And I’m a sorce stan if you look at my wardrobe so this one hurts.

Starts off powdery, lightly-sweetened iris, but on my skin dries down to a a musky, dusty sandalwood powder with a hint of suede. I couldn't scrub it off of me well enough and that sandalwood kept tormenting me for the rest of the day, peeking through my replacement scent. This is not my first run-in with this particular flavor of sandalwood accord, but I am starting to fear the 1-in-5 chance of it rearing its ugly head. It's also an interesting take that a perfume with a white chocolate note isn't meant to be a gourmand at all.

Okay, I'm really glad other people are getting the uhh....bodily fluids vibe from this because I sprayed it on my arm and was like...holy shit...what is that? I thought I was going crazy. I literally was looking around to see if I was smelling...ANYTHING else but..yeah. I dunno, looking at the notes, i SHOULD love this. But instead it's giving spunk vibes. Like some guy just cracked one off and then wiped it on his clean duvet that smells nice except for...THAT. I really wish I could smell what others are smelling, damn it.

Smells like someone blowing powdered sugar in your face at your grandmas house. Something else in there too...Can't place it but there's a musky undercurrent that's decidedly unpleasant. Like it creeps just beneath the surface but somehow takes over the whole thing ? This is a strange one, sad because it has potential. The only thing I can appreciate about it is that it IS light and airy, but that's where it ends for me.

Not blind buy safe. I’m really sorry but this perfume reminds me a bit of semen 😭

I picked up a sample of this and was immediately impressed. It carries that same smooth iris/orris profile found in English Major, but here it’s softened by noticeable purple florals in the background. Beyond the Veil feels like a departure from Sorce’s usual heavier, sweeter gourmand DNA. Instead, this leans into something lighter with a slightly vintage, powdery elegance. If you enjoy scents like Mizensir Poudre D'or Biename Fleurs d'Été , this will be right up your alley. Though I’ll be 100% honest I did pull back from Sorce for a while. The way they handled customer communication and supply/demand didn’t sit right with me. It felt like intentional scarcity, when in reality they likely should have just been transparent from the beginning about their perfumes and tinctures being made to order vs. the whole game of thrones ordering windows/waitlists. Which BTW, being put on a waitlist for an indie perfume is crazy work. Their quoted 2–4 week turnaround still feels a bit suspect. Anyways, I digress... Sorce just needs to do better for their customers. I’m actually glad Lucky Scent is handling this release and I’ll be grabbing a full bottle once it restocks... I am digging the vintage lean.

This is a dry sandalwoody iris fragrance. I was hoping for more sweetness to come through from the white chocolate but I couldn't perceive that note at all. It's just too dry for me to enjoy. Ephemera does have some sweetness to it that keeps it from being super dry. I like that one a lot more. I don't really get the comparison. The compositions are different enough. A lot of the reminds me section doesn't translate to me.

creamy wisteria and iris melt into white chocolate and musk.. then end up super powdery (in a good way). Maybe like a sexy elderly lady who 70 years prior liked the you flankers.

Sweet and powdery, similar to SDJ 59 and Pink Sugar with more florals. Very dreamy. Not something I’d wear as someone who likes vintage powdery florals, but still lovely.
