Ephemera

This is Rory Gilmore in perfume form. This perfume is soooo much lighter and brighter than I expected! Being so autumnal in theme, I expected heavy "yankee candle" vibes. Something thick, something overpowering, something heavy. This is the opposite of yankee candle. Ephemera is wispy, sweet, smooth, and absolutely gorgeous. The pumpkin is almost green, more rind than sticky pulp, and it doesn't overpower the fragrance whatsoever. In fact, I only smell the pumpkin if I really sniff for it. I smell sweet, breezy vanilla and paper, with just a hint of warm sugar, milk, and pumpkin rind, and a smaller pinch of earthiness. I get an earthy "dirt" note from a few other Sorce fragrances, but the dirt here (despite being explicitly listed in the notes) is much subtler than it is in Vampire Husband or The Things Unsaid. The soil note here just enhances the book-vibes of the paper. I could see this being wearable year-round. It gives "Gilmore Girls breezy autumnal morning", but it also just gives "girl who likes to smell pretty and read books". This one is definitely safe to wear to the office, and cozy enough to wear to bed, but interesting enough to be remembered. While not extremely strong or striking, she's absolutely beautiful.

I got a frew sample of Ephemera after ordering from Luckyscent, which is pretty cool considering they've just become available on there for those outside of the US like myself. Although it's not autumn where I live at the moment and while I think it can work for any season, Ephemera seems to be a lovely autumnal fragrance (which seems to have been the perfumer's goal here) that's soft, sweet, powdery and a little papery. It reminds me of a combination of some other fragrances I like, namely London Fog by Brandt for its milkiness, Unknown Pleasures by Kerosene for its brown sugar/caramelish notes and Eau Duelle by Diptyque for its smokey vanilla dry down. The paper note is something I notice shortly after the top notes have settled and to me, it's reminiscent of what might have been someone's old dusty notebook filled with university lecture notes from 10 years ago. I've only ever tried samples of the above perfumes I mentioned earlier and have reflected on which ones to commit to buying a larger size, but with Ephemera now I don't have to. I've since ordered a full bottle after finishing up the sample. What a lovely fragrance to start becoming acquainted with Sorce as a perfume house.

Ephemera is unlike anything else in my collection. We have had quite the relationship. When I first bought her I could barely smell anything. I was disappointed by all the hype. I sprayed and sprayed and I did like what I could smell but it was so faint. I ended selling her. Two weeks later I came across a shirt I had sprayed ephemera on & I could smell her clear as day and she was beautiful!!! So, I got another bottle. Purchased a 30 ml but was able to do a swap for a 50 and I am in love. She's hard to describe. I definitely get that pumpkin flesh and beautiful earthy sweetness. I'm not picking up too much on the dirt note. She is addictive and if I had to compare to the vibe of anything else I would compare to the drydown of iris dragees. Not the same as iris dragees but it does remind me of that essence. If I had to describe it as a texture I would say chewy with a little crunch. Yeah, I know weird but to me it makes sense.

Absolutely love this fragrance, it is definitely my favorite Sorce scent of the ones that I have tried so far. I don't usually like pumpkiny fall scents, but this is very pleasant. It has a nice sweet vanilla base that is complimented nicely by the more earthy and musky notes. It also is surprisingly milky at the beginning, at times it almost smelled like a cup of milky black tea. My girlfriend got more of the paper notes and said she thought it smelled like a museum. I got this as a sample but I will definitely be getting a larger bottle when I get the chance.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL scent. I picked up a sample of this because the notes sounded intriguing, and I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. It's a milder, my-skin-but-better-esque scent, and it's not like anything I've smelled before. It's a cozy, creamy, milky, and sweet vanilla scent that's made unique with the fresh pumpkin note. I used up my whole sample and went for a larger bottle! This is definitely inoffensive enough to be a daily wearer, and yet it's unique and projects enough for me to thoroughly enjoy throughout the day.

I live in UK so it’s quite difficult to find Sorce perfumes. I wasn’t sure if Ephemera is what I need when I was looking at notes. However, I am not disappointed at all. It’s a comfort in a bottle. Sweet, creamy, milky pumpkin scent in a dry down. It gives nostalgic vibes to me. I cannot compare it to anything yet as I haven’t tried everything that is available. I must say, it is the most unusual but comforting scent. I have a few samples of Sorce perfumes and this is my first full bottle, so I’m so happy to have it.

This is like a warm fall day when it’s still too hot, but you’re really excited about fall, so you still wanna do fall things and wear this. It reminds me very much of Moon Magic by this brand, but take out the lavender and cardamom, leave the cookie and then add some whipped cream. I don’t really get the pumpkin, but somehow the vibe stays fall. I really like this. The paper, musk, and cashmeran actually kind of make this a skin scent with something lactonic.

I'm in love with my sample. It' a delicious sugary vanilla with a touch of pumpkin, I also get a faint paper smell if I put my nose close to my skin. I don't get the soil at all and I'm happy about it, I don't think I would've love it as much.

Easily my favorite Sorce perfume! It’s so cozy and warm. I mostly get vanilla, brown sugar, cashmere, and pumpkin. The soil isn’t noticeable, and just adds a slight earthiness (not dirty!) I already have a 50ml but I’m definitely upsizing

right off the bat i pick up on the brown sugar and musk, but i can’t tell if that’s dirt? ink? pumpkin? the notes are hard to distinguish and yet i love it? she’s strangely addictive and i find myself reaching for her all the time.

i ADORE ephemera. smells just like walking through trees in the fall in elementary school halloween party. this scent is so full of nostalgia, it is super sweet, and it is long lasting.

This is my perfect fragrance. I am so addicted to it. It is perfectly cozy and comforting. I can really smell the notebook paper on the dry down. It is wonderful.

this is really pleasant! i was a little disappointed that i could not pick out the pumpkin because that was the note i was most excited to experience. maybe my nose just is not experienced enough yet, but i never really found it. what i did get was this really comforting creaminess that i cannot quite put into words. it feels very unique and unlike anything else i have sampled so far. it smells edible, but not in a dessert kind of way. somehow it smells.. healthier than that? i know that probably makes no sense, but it is more like wholesome comfort than sugary indulgence. it's like a summer day with my family or something. or packing up the garden to prepare for the autumn cold. i'm still not entirely sure how to describe this fragrance, but i do know i enjoyed wearing it. it has a quiet, comforting quality that kept me coming back to smell my wrist.

Like Diptyque Eau Duelle's shy little sister. Has that same spiced-vanilla DNA, but more rounded and creamy and less aromatic spicy. For context though, my bottle of Eau Duelle EDT is veryyyy sawdust aromatic and less vanilla than I expected (from the store bottle, I loved, but my bottle is different). I don't get much pumpkin, just a few whispers randomly, and if I look hard enough for it I do get a little bit of that dry nutty acorn. Mostly that warm vanilla with brown sugar. Definitely for use on a dreary day! Overall, if you like eau duelle edt and wish it was more creamy/warm and less aromatic spicy, you'd really like this. Has some depth to it but still simple and pretty.

My nose might be broken, because contrarily to other reviews, I get a lot of earthy and soil notes in this perfume! After it sits on my skin it becomes more spice forward with more sweetness as well, but I love the initial earthy smell. I will say, though, I first smelled this perfume when I got my sample of Snow Moon Magic, so I might have just thought it was much less sweet in comparison.

I’m on a hunt for a wearable dirt forward fragrance and when i saw this limited release i stupidly blind bought. This is a very pleasant vanilla with maybe a paper note, i’m not getting anything else :(. Even when i slightly smell something more, i NEVER get dirt! This might be good for people who were weary of the dirt note, but for me it’s a big bummer. Still a beautiful scent

Girly vanilla brown sugar at the beginning, slowly becoming more papery and aromatic. It really does kinda remind you of a fall day, dry and papery like leaves. Gourmand but not overwhelmingly so. Unfortunately I didn’t really get any pumpkin or acorn notes but if I were to buy a full size I’d definitely layer it with some. Overall, a very nice vanilla but nothing mind blowing.

Such a beautiful soft scent for the fall and winter. I honestly primarily just smell brown sugar and some vanilla and a hint of fresh pumpkin. The brown sugar note in this one is the same brown note from Cabanilla. Edit: after letting it sit for 3-4 months the pumpkin note has come out and it’s very nice!

to me, the notes that stand out in this the most are brown sugar and paper. if I focus I can really smell the soil otherwise it’s sweet but that paper and cashemeran make it more complex! really nice for fall I just wish there was more pumpkin :/

I mostly smell the vanilla in this perfume and everything else is so subtle to me that it is basically just a vanilla perfume for me. I’ll have to keep testing this one but it hasn’t wowed me.

I don't get any pumpkin or soil notes with this one on me. I get some brown sugar, old dusty notebook, and peppercorn. Which I like, but it wasn't really what I was expecting.

it's like if soil was sweet lmao. really gorgeous actually, but it barely lasted an hour for me so i can't say it's a love like i want it to be :( overall rating: 🩷🩷🩷💔🖤 3.5/5

Ignoring the notes above, I am going to tell you what I smell. I smell beast mode pina colada, emphasis on the pina. I ordered a decant, but I ordered several at the same time, and I couldn't remember what this was supposed to smell like, which is why I came here today. I get none of what is listed above except for sweetness. So, anyway, if you like the sound of a pina colada fragrance with lots of lasting pineapple, maybe get a sample. It's not for me (too sweet and I don't like coconut, which is definitely also present), but I think this is a great option for fruity tropical fragrance fans.

I am a professional gardener, to my nose I dont get vanilla or caramel or pumpkin at all! On me this is straight forest floor in autumn. Acorns and leaves decaying into soil. Not a huge fan but its fun.

The sweetness overpowered everything else for me. Not completely unpleasant, but kind of reminds me of the scent of a plastic baby dolls head. Powdery and sweet.

I love pumpkin so much that my husband calls me the "gourd lady" due to the sheer quantity purchased in the Fall 😂 Needless to say, I had my hopes up with this one. It smells like cutting into a fresh pumpkin but is completely ruined for me by the "milky musk". I feel like just saying "milky musk" explains what is wrong with it --why does this exist? There's a heavy creaminess ruining the fresh autumn landscape I was dreaming of... It was a no for both me and my husband who are Fall lovers.

Brown sugar, vanilla, pumpkin, milk. That's a lot of sweet heavy hitters all competing for the same space, and if they aren't blended with real precision they're going to collapse into exactly that cloying synthetic blob. Drydown, I get acorn and dirt potpourri.

i wanted to love this so badly. the opening is beautiful, creamy and sugary vanilla with warm and slightly spicy pumpkin. when it dries down on me it transforms into dirty bicycle seat. like synthetic leather in the heat.

This is a sweet caramelized brown sugar perfume. My nose really has to look for the pumpkin and Acorn scent. I get more nuttiness in it when I look for it then I do the pumpkin. The pumpkin in it is such a tiny amount that I wouldn't know it is in this plus it is like a really vegetable pumpkin, so it smells like the knife with the pumpkin juice coating it if someone sliced it a metre away from you and wafted the knife in the air while you were wearing this sweet brown nutty perfume. I can see how people say this is comforting, it might be nice when it is colder but something in this is making me nauseus (might be sweetness and milk). I find it too sickly sweet and simple and even a little artificial? So far, out of the 3 samples i tested whose notes were the safest choice for me (This, English Major and Witchery) I did not like any. It is a shame because I would have liked a bottle of Sorce in my collection 🥲

This is my favorite bedtime scent. It’s sweet but not sticky and light but long lasting. The pumpkin is not like a pumpkin spice latte at all. Instead it’s more like smelling an actual pumpkin mixed with a bit of sweetness from the brown sugar and vanilla. Overall this one is very comforting and warm but not offensive. I could wear it to work at my healthcare job and would likely get no complaints from anyone. This was a fairly recent purchase for me and my bottle already has a small dent. It’s an easy reach.

Veryyyy similiar to English Major. Same tape hubba bubba bubblegum powder smell with a slightly woodier, spicy nuance. Can't detect the soil, acorn, milk or pumpkin notes which are the main distinguishing aspects in comparison to EM. I personally prefer EM because the spices are just something I have smelled in abundance with middle eastern perfumes and even though here, it is the slightest whisper of spice, I prefer the more unique western version of this scent profile.

I think I got a mislabeled sample of This is Not a Love Spell, because to me this smells like a flanker of that; minus the blueberry and violet notes, adding that inky/permanent marker/paper ig note from English Major. The initial spray reminds me a lot of Commodity Gold Expressive, but then it becomes the aforementioned scent that I described. It’s nice! I’m just not sure I got the right perfume.

really beautiful, i wasn't expecting to like this out of all of the samples i ordered but this is a stand out. This would sing in cold weather but i think could be a casual easy reach aswell.

Such a unique scent that would make a great signature. It’s blended so well it smells like walking outside in the autumn.

My unrefined nose is just getting dryer sheet. I don’t smelly any pumpkin, milk, sugar...just very clean and soapy.
