Serpentine

I looked this up after buying the floral discovery set and saw three notes I struggle with immensely: fig, cardamom, and honey. I was like, "Well, there's always one perfume in the mix that I'm gonna be iffy on. It's whatever, I'm excited for the others." After making my way through the discovery set, Sorce has, by some miracle of the gods, concocted the most sultry, delectable mixture of three notes that challenge me. Make that four, because it has fig leaf too (allegedly - I'm not really getting any green from this, especially on skin). Honey is probably the one that challenges me the most. Most honey perfumes don't smell like actual honey to my nose, they're more this sort of saccharine, animalic, diabetic piss smell that is hard to escape. Serpentine is the first honey perfume I've ever smelled that evokes ACTUAL honey. Like, golden, sun-warmed, dripping from the comb honey. The fig is sweet, extra ripe, none of that green 'eau de dentist office' thing that it often gives. The cardamom is there but not necessarily spicy, just warming and pleasant. Beautiful on paper, but absolutely scrumptious on skin. I want to eat my arm. The scent bubble is luxurious, sticky and sweet, but very grown woman sweet. No whimsy, just a sort of sinful deliciousness. The name is spot on.

When I smelled this on a test strip in the Sorce store, I appreciated it for its spiced medley but didn't know if it would be as cloyingly sweet as I tend to find Sorce perfumes. I am a certified cardamom lover (possibly my fav note of all time) so I wasn't sure why I didn't love it right away. Nevertheless, I took a sample home with me. It quickly became an obsession. On skin, the candied honey melts into your natural skin musk and gently forms the base for those beautiful spices to bloom. It's incredible. Genuinely a showstopper. I'm almost glad it doesn't have more traction compared to some of Sorce's other scents because I feel as if it could be a signature scent for me. I can see it being worn yearround, and I'm sure it'll be a sensory delight when the weather gets colder. So in love. Bottle on the way.

I got a sample of this, went to the grocery store with a couple small spritz, and immediately got told I smell amazing. Smells like the bottom of a cup of karak chai in the best way possible. A little green and honeyed, I definitely pick up that cedar note which mellows things out. I wish it was a little smoother and vanilla-forward, but definitely achievable with layering. Reads very unisex to me. I'm surprised not everyone reads cardamom instantly, that first spray is straight cardamom to me. Not a club scent. Probably not an office scent. Type of thing I'd wear to the cafe, the grocery store (as aforementioned), a library or bookstore, a hike... A little sexy, warm, sultry, and homey. Like you just made tea and did some gardening.

This was sweeter than I was expecting, so I spent some time getting over my expectations for my oil sample. I wouldn't decribe this as very woody, to me its mostly soft spices and honeyed fig, though I do get the resin and leaf note underneath. Very well blended and I'd say I reach for it most out of the sorce perfumes I've tried. I love fig smells, never tried one that wasn't a little unique, and this follows that trend pretty well. If I wasn't already aware of the notes I wouldn't immediately tag this as fig. Definitely a fruit, but maybe more of a ripe pear. There's a dessert soup my dad used to make for me and it smells almost exactly like that, just more green.

This is unique and strong. It has a lot of distinct notes that all want to spend time in the spotlight. The fig is sweet and fleshy. The cardamom is spicy. The woodsy base has a hint of pine. I feel like this must have been inspired by the way Nest Indigo smells in the first 5 minutes (that punch of jammy fig and cardamom before Indigo fades into a more bergamot tea scent) This is not a safe blind buy, but I would highly recommend ordering a sample just to experience it.

This is unique in my opinion it doesn't smell like anything in my collection and I own quite a few fig fragrances. This is gorgeous, I wouldn't say a safe blind buy, definitely more for the experienced mature nose. This is spicy cardamom that develops into honeyed figs with the slightest bit of vanilla and woods in the background very mysterious smelling without being overbearing. Well done!

opens with fresh and spicy cardamom and then you get that carmelized honey note. The honey has a salted caramel touch to it that I find so lovely, and it's drizzled over juicy, fleshy figs with the leaves still attached. The dry down has a woody touch and depth to it, but it's mostly a sweet and honeyed fig scent. A gorgeous fragrance.

sweet, addictive honeyed figs. on me i'm not getting a ton of the woodier, green notes though. can definitely smell the warm vanilla base. would be perfect for fall. my first fig scent and honestly not sure if i need to try anything else after this!

Sorce does it again. I have been searching for the perfect fig scent for years and this may just be it. It starts with a sweet honey and cardamom bomb and dries down to the perfect creamy yet woody fig.

WHOA, stunned by this one! Spicy cardamom bomb at first and then more of a sweet honey with a low thrum of spice on the dry down. Absolutely love this scent and what Sorce is doing in general.

Disclaimer, I like this one very much ❤️... but Boyfriend: "did you buy a vape again!" 🧐 😂 No i did not, but I did spritz on a little bit of Serpentine. I dont get the vape reference personally, but it is hilarious, and may be important for others to know. It is really beautiful, a hard like- instantly. A little bit more fresh green might have made this a love. To be honest I mostly stayed away from Sorce because they lean gourmand, but Serpentine has enough dark green depth to balance it. Using this in summer, of course. And its totally different on paper than on skin. On paper its a cardamom bomb. I wasnt sure I'd like it... and on skin it still blooms with a very robust cardamom. But the honey fleshes out the base alongside the cedar. Vanilla as a relatively quiet backbone, with almost imperceptible fig leaf- just rounds out the whole thing with a green edge. This'll be phenomenal around Christmastime. Excellent for winter, good in the fall. Great sillage and very good longevity. Quite natural. A very slight feminine edge- but mostly unisex. Good price point. Nice move, Sorce! Way to round out the lineup.

honey, vanilla, woody cardamom! this is such a lovely spiced scent, perfect for a cozy late fall/early winter day. as a fig lover, i wish i got more fruit, but i am so pleasantly surprised by how beautifully each note blends into the next. not FB worthy for me in particular, but i will definitely be keeping this decant in a safe spot for special occasions

Cardamom bun. I do get the greenness from the fig, but mostly cardamom bun. This fragrance smells slightly yeasty to me somehow. It's super wearable, delicate, complex, and smells delicious--this is the fragrance that dragged my mom onto the Sorce train with me. A real crowd pleaser.

I have never smelled a perfume like this! She's crisp and woody at first- the cardamom really comes through, but she settles into something warm and spicy. The honey and fig sit close to the skin as it settles, and create something so cozy. I'm obsessed.

I was afraid this would be too woody, but it's not. The fruity and sweet notes shine through here. I mostly get honey and vanilla. I get the fruit, but can't necessarily discern that it's fig. I like it, but it's not full-bottle worthy for me.

This is a cardamom perfume! First and foremost! Really nice, the sweet fig and honey blends to round out that spicy sharpness. I can't help but think of velvet blankets and candlelight and Christmas time.

Smelled heavily like a lemon cough drop in the opening but mellowed down to be pretty nice

This is a very sweet, balsamic fig scent. It is a dark, syrupy fig- not a green, fresh fig. There are some slight woody undertones as the fragrance develops. I only detect a touch of cardamom. Better for cool/cold weather imo but could probably be worn all seasons. (Also incidentally, in reference to a review below: Belly dancing is primarily a cultural dance in the MidEast and North Africa- not India. So generally not belly dancers dancing amongst shrines to Shiva.)
