Strings of Light in the Forest

I have finally found my perfect lavender-vanilla! The opening is pure, clear, photorealistic lavender essential oil. I grew up with my mom making her own organic soaps and lotions with essential oils; lavender was one of her favorites so this opening is very nostalgic to me. The vanilla is thick, creamy, and cold- I’ve never smelled such a realistic vanilla ice cream accord. This is eating lavender-honey gelato on a gray day at the beach, snuggled in a favorite sweater. Wearing shimmery lilac eyeshadow to take a walk during a light spring rain; sipping on a thermos of extra sweet London fog, more frothy lavender milk than tea to be honest. A forest fairy, draped in lavender silk flitting through the trees, framed against the golden light of sunset. 🤍💜💖 🧚🏽 9 months with this beauty has me yearning to upgrade my 15ml. There’s a creaminess and sweetness in the base reminiscent of MMIH minus the waffle cone. The dry down heads in the direction of a fluffy lavender marshmallow covered with vanilla powdered sugar. Strong longevity and projection. 🍯☁️🪻🍨🌾🌫️🫖

This is absolutely amazing and I’m surprised I haven’t seen any buzz about it online? To my nose, it is a perfect anywhere/anytime perfume but really fills the role of an uplifting spring/summer scent that isn’t beachy, skin, or overly sweet. I never saw myself as a lavender lover but the pairing with vanilla, beeswax, and vetiver transports me to rolling fields of flowers and that is something I need at the moment. I think my mind makes an association between lavender and sage because, despite sage not being listed, I sort of get a hint of it? Sillage and longevity are great on me—and I love pairing it with my sample of Sorce’s English Major perfume too. This is at the top of my list for a full bottle in the future.

My favorite of the Sorce samples that I've tried. It immediately passed the 'do I keep wanting to sniff my wrist' test. It's a deep, sweet scent and very well-blended, so much so that to my (somewhat new at this) nose, it's hard to discern the notes. Definitely vanilla, but there's something deeper behind it, strongly grounding it. A little herb-y, or incense-y maybe? I didn't get milkshake, but I could believe beeswax. I think it might be a little heavy for daily wear personally, but it's warm and cozy and delightful. I could see myself wearing this in the evenings when I want to stay in and curl up with a book.

This is my summer scent of the year, even though people seem to disagree on it being a summer scent. It just gives chilling among a fairy light-lit forest at night with refreshments and a breeze. The lavender is the most headstrong note in this fragrance--it's quite overpowering and strong at first spray, but balances out over time. You definitely get the beeswax from it, too, but it's not too strong. Once you let it sit on your skin for a bit, you get warm, sweet-smelling, lactonic vanilla (from the milkshake note). I also get the vetiver all the way at the end.

This scent took me on a JOURNEY. At first I was picking up straight lavender. The smell gave “Whole Foods” soap aisle. I admittedly didn’t love this, I don’t want to smell like homemade soap. Then it started to dry down and I started getting the forest notes, the grassy vetiver and almost a pine note. It smells like walking through a forest. Then eventually, the vanilla comes out and it’s so inviting and magical. I started out not liking this at all, to thinking maybe I’ll get a travel size, to ordering a full size in a matter of 2 hours.

Love this so much! I love all things lavender vanilla and Lush Twighlight EDP is pretty much my white whale. I adore and wore Moon Magic all winter and was looking for something a little lighter for warmer weather, in walks this beautiful lady. It is a gourmand lover's sweet dream. The lavender is a strong top note that relaxes into the creamy vanilla ice cream note, as it dries down the beeswax and vetiver become more evident. Also, if you are a fan of BBW lavender vanilla products, this is an easy win.

it took like 3 wears for me to like this, but now i want a full size. initially the lavender is so strong it was almost nauseating, but now that my nose is fully acclimated i love this. it's a very cozy rainy day scent, i wouldn't wear on a hot day. the beeswax is a background player but recognizable - very familiar to me from skiing and glassblowing. the medicinal note that others are smelling comes across to my nose as a tea latte, almost, once it's dried down. the milky scent is very well done. love!

Opens in a dental office. The lavender mixes horribly to create a memory of your first cavity filling. As it dries down beeswax announces itself. Great. Barry B. Benson is your dentist now and he didn’t wash his hands(?). Which is somewhat pleasant. Here comes the vanilla milkshake as a reward for being so patient at the dentist and a feeling of guilt for being mean to Barry. Which brings us a perfume you have to wait 30min after applying to leave the house. Im very fond of it..

Lavender and Vanilla are my two loves, and I adore when they play nicely together. The lavender here is not too herbal, but she's green and bright and almost citrussy. That bright lavender paired with the creamy vanilla milkshake is *chef's kiss* . It's not as sweet as you would expect, the other notes give her a little woodiness, a little airiness, a little grit to keep her from becoming overly sweet and cloying. She's very well balanced and very interesting.

To me this is not screaming medicinal. It is like sitting on a cloud of ambrette and getting whiffs of honey from the beeswax. The lavender is not too overwhelming which I was worried about. Heavy amounts of lavender tend to give me a headache. There is something to me that is so nostalgic about this scent, like watching mom put on her makeup to get ready for work in the morning.. just one of my absolute favorites from sorce!!

Lovely! Delicious and soothing. Creamy vanilla custard and lavender. You know those creamy London Fog tea perfumes? Like Brandt London Fog or 4160 Tuesdays Hammersmith Tea and Biscuits- both smell like Earl Grey tea (bergamot) and rich vanilla cream and a bit of cookies... Well this Sorce scent is the same thing BUT swap out the bergamot for lavender. Yum! Fans of scents like Lush Sleepy or Twilight would probably enjoy this.

This has to sit for me. I kept coming back to it. I love it now. At first the sweetness just wasn't there. It was mostly herbal lavender and some other earthy scent. Now that creaminess really comes through. 4.5/5 for me.Its just super nice. Not too floral or sweet or earthy. A great everyday scent that's likely not inoffensive to really most people.

Very beautiful scent! This smells like a group of fireflies having a movie night inside of a forest at midnight. Very buttery-like but also has a calming note to it, like taking a walk during a coldish night. Probably the lavender note? Nonetheless I’m obsessed with this and love wearing this at night.

My favorite Sorce scent is finally in Fragrantica. :) This is an unsung hero within Sorce's offerings. It's sweet, warm, enveloping. An artisanal lavender milkshake being drunk in a dark space, lit by 100% pure beeswax pillar candles.

beautiful, realistic lavender that doesn’t lean too medicinal. truly like being surrounded by lavender plants in july and sniffing someone’s homemade vanilla milkshake. works so well for me on migraine days too 10/10 <3

Loove, love, loooooveeeee this perfume!! It smells like walking thru a fresh lavendar field while wearing a light vanilla perfume and the breeze blows by and you get a whiff of both. Smells elegant and ethereal.

This is my favorite Sorce scent. It’s warm vanilla beeswax (the beeswax makes it less intense than straight honey scents) with lavender. Match Made in Heaven has the hype, but this one has my heart.

A love letter in scent- lush, syrupy vanilla wrapped in lavender light, resting on a tender bed of vetiver. Soothing, sensual—possibly the ultimate bedtime perfume.

Such a lovely cozy scent. It smells like you're in a log cabin having a sweet honey drink. Perfect for when the weather turns cold.

This is one of my favorite vanillas and I don’t know why it doesn’t get more love (but also my favorite Sorce perfumes aren’t selling out rn so maybe I’m glad it doesn’t?). As someone who loves vanilla but doesn’t really want to smell like a dessert and often finds woody or “alternative” vanillas (for example Bo, The Architects Club, Green Vanille, Deep Dark Vanilla) not vanilla enough, I don’t find many vanillas that I love. This one is very vanilla forward and has a sweet and creamy kind of vanilla with some aromatic lavender. It definitely has a similarity to Moon Magic, but without the chai spice and with a subtler lavender. The beeswax note is prominent and adds a twist of something a little odd and interesting that takes it out of gourmand territory. There’s also a hint of something almost coniferous that peeks out from behind. I can see this being a nice winter fragrance but the notes also really evoke the atmosphere of camping in the summer. It also has decent strength and longevity - not the strongest fragrance I’ve tried but as someone who feels my skin “eats” perfume and finds most perfumes seem to disappear within an hour (or only be noticeable if I stick my nose in my wrist), this one lingers and I can smell it in the air around me for at least 3 hours (still testing so could be longer). I’ve noticed this with some other Sorce perfumes as well, like English Major - kudos to Sorce for being a reasonably priced indie brand that is outperforming designer and niche perfumes that cost twice as much.

The lavender is strong in the beginning. It punches you in the gut. But then after twenty minutes or so, this sweet this soft comforting waft of gorgeous honeyed vanilla peaks out with the most perfect amount of beeswax and well-blended vetiver. I've never smelled anything with honey that didn't immediately feel medicinal but this is it. This is it. The downsides however besides the blast of lavender you have to wait through to get to the dry down is the sillage and longevity are abhorrent! The scent clings to your scent so closely you have to press your nose into it to smell and then it only lasts 2-3 hours. A shame! Take out the lavender and make this stronger and I'd be a slave to this! Edit: I am very much now enjoying how well-blended the lavender is in this with the rest of the composition. I think I am just picky with my lavenders. (For reference, the only other frag I've enjoyed with lavender is Gentle Reminder by Snif). Ahhhh, I'll probably need a full bottle of this despite how Sorce's website update is makes me want to ignore the brand completely... Sigh. I'm forking cash over, aren't I?

slightly creamy sweet vanilla lavender all wrapped up in dreamy forest filled with fragrant trees. the most unique note is the beeswax, which makes the scent smell strange to me sometimes ever since i got a lot more nose-blind to it, kinda like sour breath..? puts me off a bit lol. besides that, the perfume is pretty gentle and does smell beautiful. i bought it to pair with sleepy lotion by lush, but at least to me they smell too different

creamy, soft, fairly strong and powdery. not my personal favorite - there's something almost medicinal, herbal about it, under the vanilla-lavender. i was also personally expecting a bit more green/earthy from the name, which is my fault... the coquette girlies would love this. reminds me of those fancy drinks you'd get at a local coffee shop while curling up with a book.

I gave this another try and I ended up liking it! It’s quite medicinal and herbal at first but the dry down is like a yummy vanilla milkshake with beeswax and lavender. I imagine myself eating ice cream on a hot summer night in a forest with fireflies flying around me. You can wear this all season but I think this is best during spring and summer.

I wore this today to work. Everyone could pickup that milkshake, ice cream parlor vibe. This is a wonderful creamy lavender milkshake with a bit of powdery honey. Overall, it’s definitely a different take on a sweeter lavender. It projected well, and I got quite a few compliments! Love this, and yes there is an herbal quality to it, which I like!

Oh, this will last all day and then some! A little goes a long way. It’s such a pleasant smell reminiscent of a fairy village at night. At first, it’s a heavy vetiver and amber scent, but it dries down to a vanilla/beeswax blend with the faintest hint of lavender. As a non-lavender lover, this is still such a nice perfume.

fizzy lavender and beeswax creamer!! there's some very very soft vanilla with the vetiver note coming off a little incense & amber-y in the background (which I really like!!). but sometimes lavender can lean stinky to me if it's too sweet 😔 so I can't wear this as often as I want. BUT this is still really lovely and dreamy and the longevity is great!!!

as a non-gourmand girl, this one was surprisingly really nice! sweet lavender vanilla dreams, i can envision this being a perfect nighttime fragrance <3 herbal and sweet!

as someone who really likes Sorce, this one did not hit the mark for me at all. in fact, i feel the urge to scrub it off. it's way too animallic and cloying. i don't get any lavender vanilla or milkshake notes. the more i smell it the more nauseous i feel, eugh

for me, it just smells like.... sweet burts bees lip balm? perhaps it just doesn't suit my skin chemistry, but it smells incredibly waxy and has little floral notes (no clue there was lavender in this)

Creamy, comforting, cozy. Those are the first words that drift into my mind while wearing this scent. It’s soft in the way a half-remembered dream is soft: warm around the edges, but just out of reach. This fragrance makes me want to hold someone close, or be held myself. There’s something deeply tender about it, like the scent of a hug you never want to let go of. Though it wouldn’t feel out of place in any season, I imagine wearing it on a crisp autumn day or during the gentle rains of spring. It feels like the embodiment of a gentle soul or that moment when you open your front door after a long, hard day and know, finally, you can rest.

This was such a pleasant surprise! I panic bought a 15 mL when Sorce opened their shop back up. I don’t typically like lavender in fragrance and this does have a strong lavender on initial spray. As it dries down, the vanilla milkshake and honey pull through and add such a cozy feel to the fragrance. I’d been disappointed with other samples having fleeting lasting power but this lasted 8+ hours on my skin. It’s definitely worth at least sampling.

At first, the lavender hits you hard, but it’s the dry down that really tests your patience. What you’re left with is a strong, sweet, waxy vanilla. It’s not terrible, but that waxy note? It’s giving background character in ‘House of Wax’ vibes. If you know, you know.

Gosh, I was really looking forward to smelling this one, but on me, it smells exactly like a spilled vanilla milkshake left to sit. Syrupy, almost cloyingly sweet. I don’t smell anything but that, no lavender, beeswax, or wood to speak of.

Smells of lavender in the beginning. Dries down so beautifully. Though I do not smell the milkshake note, I do smell the sweet vanilla. I tend to relate scents to songs and this one reminds me of it had to be you by Frank Sinatra ♡

Warm sweet woody vanilla, a hint of labdanum, but overall it’s just so sweet. I don’t get milkshake per se, and lavender is missing completely. It’s mostly a sweet woody vanilla gourmand with a hint of cloy in the under carraige.

Smells like when you eat a walnut ice cream and you smell the stick that it was on. Its nice!

This is a soft vanilla lavender. Comforting and cozy, for any season.
