The Ghost Wants Birthday Cake

This is one of my favorite scents from Sorce that i've tried so far, and I'm happy she's finally in the database :D The two strongest notes in this fragrance are peach and ginger to my nose. The other notes are well-blended and in my opinion, not super discernible. It smells like you're in the process of making a cake or tea or something, and you just cut up some peaches and ginger and threw it all in a bowl while everything else sits on the side. I've found that peach notes can be tricky in perfumes - sometimes they're too faint and sometimes they feel extremely artificial and syrupy or stale (TF bitter peach is my archnemesis). This is a good balance! It's not too cloying and sweet, but it's definitely present. I actually ordered a sample of A Sign Painted Peaches based on how much I liked the peach note here. I'd wear this throughout summer honestly but I think it'd be best for late summer/early fall :)

I got this in the late spring when the weather had turned warm, and it had that funkyness people describe. Based off sorce's website I think its a combination of the peach and barley. It wasn't bad, but not really what I wanted at the time. I think this works best in cold/milder weather. I have the oil and on my skin it opens very peach and ground spices and cake. If, cake means the dry ingredients in a bowl, with a bit of vanilla. I definitely smell wiffs of salty butter that compliments the peaches well. And the spices get a little softer over time. If you don't like cardamom or woods I don't think you'll like this, as that's mostly what it fades out to for me. The ginger makes the peach fresh while everything else turns it warm, its very unique, has a tang to it. I'm not much of a peach scent person but I like this one. I never really smell vanilla icecream, just vanilla.

I have the oil version, so I can’t speak to how it compares to the EDP. In this one, there is a photorealistic, not-quite-ripe peach. Sour, green, with a stem and leaf still attached. It sits next to a warm, gently spiced crumble topping (spice often tones down on my skin, and this is no exception), and maybe there is some cream in the background, but on me it's far less cake-and-ice-cream than the name might suggest. Instead, it's all about that tart peach, and I love it. The sharpness is glorious, and it layers beautifully with gourmands. It adds the kind of lift you’d get from a lemon and fresh-cut grass combo, but with a fruity twist that’s both mouthwatering and unexpected. It's FUN. I would definitely buy again and I want to get the EDP to compare one day.

Oh my, this smells so comforting and amazing, it feels like a warm hug. This is a spicy peachy cake scent, the cardamom is prominent but not sharp, it’s delicious! It’s not overly sweet so it’s super wearable. Definitely a fall and winter scent, but perhaps can get away with wearing it in the spring because of the peach.

Per Sorce’s website, this perfume contains butter co2 and I can definitely smell butter in this yum. On initial spritz this smells like orange zest, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, clove, buttercream, and bread. It is so impressive and I’d say a hall of fame gourmand.

So so SO good. I normally don’t enjoy peach fragrances but this one I may need in a 50ml. This smells like walking into Teavana in like 2013 and smelling a fancy, blooming peach tea. So unique and I’m obsessed!

A delicious spiced peach cobbler 😋

The opening is warm, jammy, stewed peaches with plenty of brown sugar and butter over vanilla bean ice cream. This is also the loudest stage as far as projection for me, at about an arms length. In the mid it becomes more of a stewed peach upside down cake. As it dries down, the projection becomes more intimate and the peach softens into a thin line of warm peach preserve filling and the cake really shows up. Warm, yellow, and fluffy. Maybe a few candied peaches coated in sugar on top. At this point the vanilla ice cream melts in completely and everything melds together into something warm, soft, buttery, and vanillic with a hint of sugared peach, radiating a couple inches off the skin. I like this shy ghost’s little confectionery. It feels cozy and nostalgic. Sugary and likable but I wouldn’t call it crowd pleasing. There’s something about it a little too bright to be completely in season for fall/winter, but a little too warm and spiced to be truly spring/summer. The oddball quality of being for every season and no season at the same time makes it more lovable to me. Pairs very well with other vanillic/ pastry forward fragrances like Marsté Essence Vanille or Solstice Scents Kitchen. 🍑🥧🫚🍦🍰

The best part of The Ghost Wants Birthday Cake is the dry down. The opening for me smells very artificial and it’s strong, very heavy artificial peach cake and ginger notes on my skin. Had this been more intimate, I think this could have worked for me. I think that ghost on the bottle is so adorable!

Way less sweet than expected. Warm toasty baked peach and spices. Sandalwood is noticable and some vanilla comes through on the dry down. I find this not long lasting with a weak to moderate throw. It's very nice and subtle for being so spiced.

A peach upside down cake soaked in rum. It’s spicy in the best way! This would slay in cold weather, especially around the holidays.

I was really excited for this one but honestly I was very let down. I’m not sure what about this scent my nose doesn’t like, but it doesn’t. The best way I can describe this is it smelled like a Terry’s Chocolate Orange that comes out around the holidays. I get not peach from this at all. I think it’s well done and has depth to it, but it’s simply not for me

this is so unique! not cloying in any way, but the ginger and sandalwood give this fragrance a touch of maturity. absolutely obsessed with the peach note as a non-gourmand person, but i'm not sure i'd catch myself wearing this fragrance as someone who leans towards more of a clean girl scent vibe

This is NOT BLIND BUY safe. I love it, but you have to be into weird funky scents to like this as is true with many of the Sorce scents. It reminds allot me of Snif Naughty Nonna. I don’t get any cake. This is not a heavy gourmand. This is objectively not a peaches & cream scent. It’s spiced peach with ginger & vanilla.

This turns on me real quick! At first I get spiced peach cobbler, I can see cake, sure, why not. I see ginger, but also a hint of star anise. But then it falls flat and it’s like.. salty stale fennel. Where did the sweet, spiced peach go? I can even understand the sheep barnyard funk, it gets real weird with my skin chemistry. I can probably find something similar at my local zoo. Update: figured out what it reminds me of—Sorce She’s a Witch! Flat savory fennel overrides everything else that’s supposed to be there.

I don't like this one. Off the bat, it immediately reminded me of that barnyard like wool mill smell that I would smell a lot while visiting the countryside in Scotland (sheep farms, sheep and horse poo, and wool mills everywhere). It smells like a sheep farm to me with a hint of orange peel. Wearing it longer is not taking that scent memory away so I'm afraid I will have to scrub this one. I'm not really sure what is giving it this lanolin like barnyard essence, possibly the butter and sandalwood mixed with peach?

im gonna be honest and say i didnt even know this was peach until i looked up the notes here. i defs get the peach, but they are baked and soft and ooey gooey like a peach cobbler spiced rum cake. kind of like an adult peach rings hot cider. warm and cozy. can wear for daytime but im currently typing this at 10pm in a freshly cleaned room and made bed with a candle as my only source of light and i feel so cozy! (I have the oil, btw)

I totally get the snif naughty nonna comparison. That one didn’t work for me and neither does this one. It is a combo of sweet peach and spiciness I dislike. It’s in the same category to me as Jany and bitter peach tom ford. Some will definitely like this but it’s not blind buy safe by any means.

I’m not sure where the previous reviewer gets the sheep smell from but all I get is straight up cardamom the entirety of the fragrance. No peach, cake, ginger, or even vanilla. Just cardamom. And I like cardamom, but I don’t want to smell like strong cardamom all day. It is a “no” for me.

Idk if it's just my sample, but this smells like a peach incense. It doesn't smell bad, but I'd rather my house smell like this than smell like this myself lol. Pretty. No cake whatsoever. Just sweet, dusty peach incense. In a good way.
