Vampire Wife

What a lovely fragrance! I love vintagey, floral, powdery fragrances and Vampire Wife definitely sits within that particular perfume genre. The slight fruity, citrus note from the blood orange and star anise make it quite different from other vintage style perfumes I have tried. It's really interesting how they managed to use these notes without this being a fruity fragrance. This reminds me of a slice of cake offered by someone's grandmother from an old family recipe. And when you taste the cake itself, it tastes like the dust, the mothballs, the old perfume owned by said grandma, basically the entire aroma of her house absorbed by the cake itself having been made in said house. I compared Vampire Husband, another fragrance released alongside Vampire Wife, to an old, forlorn vampire's crypt. Vampire Wife is probably what Dita Von Teese's house would probably smell like in 40 years. Dare I say Vampire Wife is blind buy safe if you also like vintage, powdery fragrances like myself (I blind bought this and love it).

If Elena Gilbert was a perfume, she would be this one. This perfume is so special. It's very light, yet also quite rich and decadent. It's powdery, smooth, soft, sweet, with a little zingy spice to keep things interesting. The cake note comes through so delicately, adding a sweetness that lingers beautifully on the skin. It's not heavy at all, even if you spray quite a bit. And it's almost... cold? It's hard to describe, but when I smell this one clinging to fabrics, it smells cold to me. In a good way. Vampire Wife has a similar base to Sorce's Ephemera (which I also adore), but whereas Ephemera is ripe pumpkin rind and paper, Vampire Wife is soft, spiced orange. They're both whimsical, airy, light but still sweet and yummy, with a warm and cozy dry-down. Not quite skin scents but not quite full gourmands either. The notes make them sound entirely different, but just trust me on this one - they're definitely cousins (maybe even sisters). Love love love love loveeeeeeeee.

a long time ago, people described Lolita Lempicka as a beautiful scent with a anise/licorice note. I always imagined LL to smell like this but it didn’t at all. this fragrance, vampire wife, is just beautiful. it definitely reminds me of Ex Idolo Love and Crime except it’s less aggressively citrus. Vampire Wife is a semi-sweet citrus-anise/licorice vanilla that leans more oriental at the start but ends mostly an airy gourmand vanilla. the initial spray is the most interesting with all the notes showing up (orange, anise, tonka, heliotrope) but it dries down to a sweet airy vanilla. I wish it could remain how it begins but overall I still truly love it. it has moderate longevity and projection which is a win these days. Brava Caitlin!

OH MY GOSH I love this scent. Especially the opening on first spray it smells almost like a chocolate orange and I was immediately in love. Once it has dried down it is a very nice spiced powder smell. The star anise was very prominent on my skin. I found myself smelling my wrist constantly while I had this on. While there is certainly a sweet cake element I find it to be much more elegant and complex then some of Sorce's other gourmand scents (nothing wrong with them I just don't personally prefer straight sweet scents). Will definitely be adding this too my list of Sorce scents that I need to get full sizes of.

On the initial spray it's very citrus but as it dries I smell the cake and powder more than anything. It's mainly blood orange the first few minutes, orangey/powdery cake the next few hours, and then fades to a slightly sweet powder by the end. It's definitely eternal on me, I can still smell it over 24 hours later. I loooove sweet gourmand scents so this being primarily cake to me makes it one of my favorite perfumes :) The powder notes are also really nice to me. Overall this is a very nice elegant and sweet perfume with amazing longevity and strength.

The best Sorce perfume I’ve tried, so far I’ve tried about ten. Purchased a travel size and happy with that, they last me a good while. However since it’s a roller ball, only can be smelled if you put your nose to it. Disappointing, but just means I’ll like the atomized version even better if it has good silage. Smelled like a spicy cake, powdered skin nostalgia. Soft and comforting, a little dark. Definitely a fan. Excited to also try the dreams and fairy tales in vanilla and ephemera. Got them as samples, waiting for them.

Vampire Wife is so good. This is such a unique gourmand while still being super wearable. The first thing I noticed was the star anise (I honestly thought licorice at first) which gives it this dark spicy edge beneath all the sweetness. It’s fruity, cakey, warm and somehow still sophisticated instead of smelling like straight dessert. The whole thing gives me elegant Victorian tea party vibes complete with pastries, spice cabinets and velvet curtains. Definitely one of the prettiest gourmands I’ve tried in a while.

You've just cleaned your kitchen and went grocery shopping, you set a bag of fresh oranges on the counter and open up a box of vanilla cake mix and open the windows as you begin baking. Thats what this is. Its powdery, smells like cake with fresh oranges nearby, but the smell is not cloying at all. Its a very comfy daytime scent for gourmand lovers, good springtime scent. 8/10

I kind of have no words. It’s beautiful. Transports me back to my birthdays as a child. Smells like a memory in the best way possible. Cake and blood orange are the most prominent notes, and it gets more powdery and spicy as it sits on my skin. Good longevity, lowkey brings a tear to my eye. This is my first purchase from source and it will definitely not be my last!!!!!!

This! I let this sit for about three months and it smells even better!! So rich and darkly beautiful Its very hot where I am so i decided tonight would be a good night to put this on. I am so glad I did! I am blown away at how creamy and not overly sweet. I have GOT to wear this more (so ready for fall)

This one is so yummy. Love a blood orange note and it settles down to a slightly citrusy cake for me. Heads up though this girl is STRONG. I made the mistake of wearing this around people who are very sensitive to scents and I filled up an entire room with it. Definitely will wear again once fall hits.

Well, I think I’m in love! Very pretty soft powdery skin scent with a cake undertone, moss and heliotrope to lighten it up, and a delicate star anise to give it something different. This is NOT blind buy worthy imo so please test it first but I’m in love with it. Will be getting a full bottle ASAP.

Opens with blood orange and red velvet cake. Settles into a powdery vanilla cake with star anise and an airy musk. A gourmand that isn't overpoweringly sweet or dark. This one stays light yet mysterious. I can see a young yet sophisticated woman who is really into fashion wearing this.

I love this one. I’m a sucker for citrus scents and this one smells soooo beautiful. I don’t have much winter/fall perfumes but this one might be my new signature for the colder months. It is spot on with the vampire aesthetic. I’m definitely going to full bottle this one next.

i dont particularly like citrus scents, but i really enjoy this one! the cake and powder notes really make it. the orange starts to fade as you wear it on the skin, but i dont think thats a bad thing. i definitely plan on buying the full size sometime soon.

Unexpectedly my favorite from the brand that I've sampled so far. Dense cake, heavy with blood orange and anise. Surprisingly somewhat seasonless due to the powdery notes/heliotrope/oakmoss/peru balsam underpinnings. Dies down really nicely on skin.

ghostly mandarin cake is right. initially I was expecting something more dark/mossy. still this is a gorgeous orange sweet treat that I find myself indulging in often. sorce you’re something wonderful!

okay, this is an interesting one. i like it! it is very powder-forward, but the blood orange comes through strongly enough that it never falls into the trap of becoming just another powder fragrance. the contrast between the two keeps it feeling fresh and interesting that being said, powder and blood orange are mostly what i am getting from it. i am sure there is more going on, but those notes completely steal the spotlight on my skin there is something to be said for that simplicity though. it feels very distinct without being overly challenging or adventurous. sometimes a fragrance does not need to be complicated to be memorable it is not something i would personally reach for very often, but i can absolutely see the appeal. i have a feeling this is the kind of scent that becomes someone's signature fragrance and stays with them for years. it feels unique enough to stand out, but wearable enough to make people fall in love with it!

Ethereally powdery heliotrope, on a bed of musk. on my skin there is an earthy and almost minty aspect to the star anise. The vampire brushed its teeth with some old-fashioned toothpaste. The orange isn't very strong and it gives an airy lift to the composition. it's kind of clean and aromatic heliotrope somehow. Not mind-blowing, but gentle and lovely. I don't get a literal wedding cake note. This feels much closer to elegant French niche than gourmand. If someone handed me this blind, I'd be looking towards Parfums de Nicolaï long before I'd be looking for wedding cake.

This is outside of my wheelhouse, but I unexpectedly do like it. Powdery sweet with a hint of warm spices. If the blood orange could stick around (which is a physical impossibility, I realize), I'd like this more. It's just that the opening is very fleeting. It settles down to a sweet, spiced, cakey powder. It's nice, but it's ultimately not me so I won't upgrade my sample. ✨ One hour later ✨ I may be already eating my words: I think I do actually really like this. Maybe a small one for me~

i have no idea how this one did it, but it's a powdery, yummy blood orange cake! there is some depth to this one so i'd probably pull her out in colder weather, but i am seriously impressed as someone who doesn't like gourmands!! 15ml of this one for the fall/winter for sure. the heliotrope and skin musk work so well together in tandem with the more gourmand aspects of this one!

A strong blast of blood orange then immediately it starts turning into a spiced cake scent. I don’t smell licorice and I hate licorice so don’t let the anise note scare you! If you like smell of spiced cake and citrus gourmands, you’ll love this one! Can be worn just about anywhere because it’s not super in your face except for the initial spray.

such a delicious, musky, blood orange cake. it's mostly quite sweet, and like most cakes, only lightly spiced for flavor. it's comforting, like something's still left warm in the oven. if you like citrus gourmands, this is definitely for you.

A beautiful citrus cakey powdery scent. It’s so wonderful for the fall and winter but also spring. I imagine myself wearing this for holiday gatherings. I’m not a fan of anise but I don’t really smell it here which is great for me!

Oranges, vanilla, and baby powder. If you like powdery scents, this is the one. I was a little disappointed the other notes seem to get lost in the main three. But it is a nice scent, and I would for sure wear.

smells like orange cake, or instead of a lemon tart—an orange tart. yummy! not super gourmand, there’s still something a bit light about it. getting a faint bit of black licorice though too

Strong powdery cake smell with very slight florals. For some reason reminds me a lot of a retirement home birthday party.

A straight-up rococo scent :) Like orange vanilla cake and baby powder. Even though there's an anise feel that gives the scent a touch of whimsigoth vibe, overall it's a very uplifting and cheerful fragrance. I liked the tolu balsam that gives the darkness in the base. Wherever this note shows up, it takes that perfume one step further. I couldn't really pick up the mossy texture though. I think what gives the vampiric feel here is the blood orange part. Im writing this with no hate to sorce, I absolutely love them as a brand, and she makes high quality perfumes that dont dry down cheap smelling. That being said, this perfume is un-wearable to me sadly. Idk how everyone is saying this is a gourmand, I think they are saying that just because the perfume is sweet. Sweet dosnt always equal gourmand. This perfume is EXTREMELY oakmoss and Peru balsm heavy. If youre senetstive to either this is NOT safe to blind buy, and I dont think youd like this at all. I kept hearing that this was a citrus gourmand and that it dries down powdery or like a baby powder scent. Another description I dont know how people are smelling this as, but I understand all noses are different. This is a very heavy oakmoss scent that dries down a little bit sweeter but its really not powdery, its very heavy and borderline masculine. It has a very VERY antique male cologne quality to it. I washed my hands because I was starting to feel a little sick wearing it and it got just pure masculine. I think washing my hands removed whatever sugar notes were keeping it sweeter and what was left was like my old russian uncles 50 year old cologne. It was so bad I had to spray another perfume on top to just make it bearable. I have to say before I washed my hands it wasnt like the worst thing in the world, just heavy and cloying. But its 100% what id imagine a photorealistic mossy dirt grave year to smell like with like a slice of cake next to a grave. Its cool and amazingly done for the premise of wanting a perfume that tells a story, but for me personally its unwearable. Im going to attempt to try it again in a few days maybe the cold of it traveling affected the scent. If you like that viral nosferatu perfume youll probably like this. I would HIGHLY recommend ordering a sample online before buying a bottle.

a dark aesthetic themed gourmand?! i wanted to like this so bad :( unfortunately all i can really smell is powder, like cosmetic powder. it smells so makeup-y to me and i can't pick up the gourmand notes in it at all.

initially I get that comparison to Love & Crime, but that quickly dissipates on the skin. First I'm transported to childhood in Florida, some strange combo of sun lotion with a Perkins-esque breakfast, where they have the glass counter at the front full of pies, which pretty soon dissipates into salted-vanilla-beach scent. for me, whenever I get a "beachy" smell in a perfume, I can't un-smell it, and I grow to dislike it. same thing happened to me with Bianco Latte. not that these smell similar at all. but ultimately I turned on Vampire Wife the same way I did BL. this is just my personal feeling of course. it's a very interesting perfume.

A beautiful and delicious scent that I do NOT want on my body. I like a good gourmand but it has to be something that doesn’t blast like a room spray around me. The blood orange cake smell is fun for sure - but this is a candle or a novelty body spray for pre-teens, not a well made fragrance for grownups. I’ve tried very very hard to like Sorce. I do see the appeal. But after sampling about a dozen of their offerings I’m throwing in the towel. Everything smells thick and suffocating - and would be better suited for a candle.

Initially I loved this on paper, smells like sweettarts candy. However on clothing and skin it is far too powdery for me. I don't mind a powdery perfume, but this one leans into grandma territory unfortunately. I don't get cake. Just very powdery sweettarts. Someone might love this, but not me!
