Witchery

I received a sample size and it was not like I envisioned, but it smells pretty amazing. It's totally masculine leaning. The sweet blackberry scent is not the star here: the moss, mist and greenery are. It truly smells like earth and moss right before it starts to rain. The blackberry only really becomes noticeable an hour or so in when some of those top notes begin to wane. The violet smells floral but in a way that's subtle and green vs powdery/white. I've tried this now a few times since it's been in and has sat a bit, and it still reads masculine. I'm going to have my husband try this for a summer scent for him, I think I'll love it! I rate this a 10/10 but likely not one I will personally wear.

I Love Sorce but I am NOT a gourmond girly. I visited the brick and mortar store early this year and was so excited when Ms.Hayse told me about this one. I knew I had to get my hands in it once it dropped. The smell is an aggressively photorealistic green. Like tearing up ivy stems with your lawnmower after it rains. it had a very subtle floral sweetness from the violet and blackberry but that takes second stage to the oakmoss and misty wet accords going on. As it drys down it becomes more apparent, though. By far one of my favorite sorce fragrances.

I love this so much!! I just discovered how much I like earthy, mossy scents and this one is gorgeous. I just got it today and I am obsessed. Feels like a green, budding forest after a light spring rain. I find it very refreshing. I’m new to collecting so my description may be off but that’s how this smells to me, like being in the forest in the spring after a light rain and everything is starting to bloom but there’s still a damp, old leaves smell (in the best way, not gross at all) of the winter foliage in the air. Sorce is my new obsession.

Might be the greenest scent I’ve ever smelled. Freshly cut flower stems covered in dew drops, on a misty spring morning. I smell the herbs and blackberries, galbanum and damp moss. It’s so refreshing, gentle and perfectly captures the atmosphere of a witchy spring garden. It may not be as dark, or gothic leaning and some would assume by the name or bottle, but it’s really beautiful and interesting Has pretty good sillage and stays intense for a while, I’d love to get a full size, which might be difficult in europe 3

I received a sample of this sometime around September. After my first smell I was HOOKED. I ordered myself the 50ml as a christmas gift. Photorealistic Oakmoss, Dirt and Geosmin. Then the lingering scent of fresh blackberries. The blackberry note isn't very prominent on my skin, but dries down beautifully on clothing. Reminiscent of going berry picking, fresh stems and crushed berries dried to your hands. You're in the forest, frolicking after it has rained and nothing has ever smelled so good!

It does remind me a lot of L'Ombre Dans L'Eau by Diptyque, but it's rounded out better by a blackberry note that to me, comes off as a blackberry wine or berry spirit type smell. It's a little bit more feminine and less sharp than L'Ombre Dans, but still unisex. This is like the misty nighttime, more sultry version of L'Ombre Dans L'Eau. I adore it.

I literally love all the green scents Sorce makes. This one is the most realistic green stem scent I’ve ever come across. It’s like going outside to garden at dawn when the grass is still dewy. There is a slight hint of berry but not in a medicinal way(thank god) it’s definitely a full bottle purchase

This was a blind buy and a total success. It’s the perfect balance of fruity, floral, woody, and mossy. It’s giving eating wild berries on the forest floor after an storm and making flower chain crowns. It’s a little moody, in a totally sophisticated way. Instant signature scent vibes.

I have a sample from the in person store and it's so pretty! Blackberry, moss, stone, greenery. Like sitting next to a blackberry bush on a cool summer morning in the mountains. I'll be going back for a bottle!

I think Sorce is amazing, and I've never had a bad scent from them, but only a few really called to me and this is definitely one of them! It smells kind of humid and green, I just love it.

divine!!! this is a fresh, green blackberry. i love it. the mossy notes just contribute to the blackberry to me, blackberry is definitely at the center of this perfume. i love it.

please fix the notes. sorce’s website says the notes are: blackberries, wild violets, galbanum, green stems and thorns, oak moss, benzoin, tree moss, wet stone, mountain mist

I smell like a sexy tomato, and I feel like a forest fairy.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the fragrance notes here are incomplete. The opening to me is an extremely green, very realistic blackberry. Like a very juicy, half bitten, unripe blackberry. I do quite like it myself. The dry down is different: still green, but the resinous benzoin takes over the blackberry note for me. I thought I didn't like it very much, as I have other green fragrances that I like a lot, but once the free sample I received of this began to run out I found myself searching for the scent of this fragrance. I don't expect to get a lot of compliments wearing this, but I wear this for the *vibe*. A great pick for those who want to evoke the feel of walking or hiking through a forest or a mountain during early spring. I find it's also quite evocative of a very specific type of witch. Perhaps a witch who's simply walking through a field harvesting ingredients to make homemade tea. It's picturesque.

The greenness and blackberry are most prominent. I didn't expect to like this so I am surprised I do. It reminds of being in a forest while it is rainy and you can smell the rain on the rocks. This scent reminds me of when I hiked in Yosemite in winter and it suddenly started raining really hard and we got soaked. For me it leans more fall than it does spring. I can't find myself wanting to smell like this scent though. It is not full bottle worthy to me but more pleasant smelling than I expected.

notes aren't right on here! photorealistic green with a hint of florals. very strong, smells exactly like a forest or working with plants. first sniff was more mossy and mountain air like, then dried down more green.

I’ve had this on my wishlist for a while, and unfortunately I was a little disappointed. Not enough that I wouldn’t wear it, but it’s just not what I expected. When I think of blackberry, I think of something more tart, but this is very sweet/jammy. The green is also not what I expected. There’s something powdery about it and it’s only one scent of green. In some perfumes you get different greenery, but this is just one scent that’s consistent through the top, middle, and base notes. Obviously, if you like these scents you’re going to love it—it’s just not for me! I give this a 3/5.

This opens on a very fake a syrupy berry smell but the berry does not last through the dry down. It settles into a very earthy plant smell that is honestly overwhelmingly wet smelling. In almost a pleasant way? Sometimes when wearing it would read more as a nice damp forest floor but then I would just get hit with the smell of like old damp basement. Wet and musty and maybe some mildew in the corner. I really wanted to like this, and I kept trying to convince myself it was more forest than mold but on my skin it really just didn't work

it’s full frontal forest after a raging thunderstorm - like clue’s morel map drank a powerthirst and slapped your face so hard you fell over. insane. not sure if it’s wearable. in love.

Super green! Reminds me a bit of those men’s colognes that you smell in Macy’s. Not sweet at all, it’s very green and mossy.

This was probably my least favourite of the samples I ordered from Sorce. I appreciate what it's going for, but it's just a case of this isn't for me. I thought that because of the blackberry note (not listed here?) I might have a chance of liking this, but it's just way too green, earthy, and heavy. If you like that sort of thing, though, there's a good chance you'll like this. (Please note this is a review for the IPM-based version, as I am Canadian)

On first spray this overwhelming smelled like pickles to me. But as it dried down it turned more into a very vegetation forward green smell, like going to the garden and smelling cucumber leaves, but not the cucumber itself. On the dry down there is a hint of a floral in there as well. Once again not a huge fan of a source scent.

I enjoy green fragrances. This one has a decent opening, but a minute or two in, it becomes too bitter and too earthy. I believe it’s the Oak moss and Moss doing it. It was a decent sample, not full bottle worthy for me.

Overwhelming strong masculine green scent at first spray. I like it better a few hours in, but it's not worth the insanely strong, stomach turning opening.

The website has this in the category “ Green Mossy Fruit”, so I expected it to be green, but where’s the rest? There is no fruit or other notes I detect. It’s very green, sharp and earthy. Not earthy in a good way, but like wet dirt. I don’t detect any berries to cut the sharpness, no cool mountain mist. This one’s definitely not for me.

This sounded extremely up my alley, but was a huge fail for me. Smells like straight up ranch dressing on me. So vegetal, lacking any of that bright blackberry sweetness to balance this out. I've tried a few times to make this work but it is so wretched I will probably toss the tester.

Verdant greenery with a blackberry note that adds a slight natural sweetness on dry down. Not really similiar to my other greens which are richer, mossier, and more dark. This is kind of a bright/light green. The blackberry note isn't a main star, more of a supporting actor to give dimension to the green. I had it in my mind that this was going to smell like a romanticised version of the Belladonna plant so I could smell like a witch who works with freshly picked poisonous plants and I feel that it is perfect for that. It smells like freshly snapped sappy green stems and a slightly sour/touch sweet deadly black juice squeezed from the berries centre. It doesn't have any sugary/vanilla/syupy or resiny/woody components which is what I tend to prefer (and I can't smell the 'stone' accord either) but the pro to that is that this is a nice one to wear in hot weather where as some of my other greens (like coven) are better for cold. Get's better throughout wear too as it becomes less 'astringent' green and settled more into the berry juice on a bed of green.

Another reviewer said this scent is “aggressively green” and I would agree. It bites you back. In the best possible way. If you need a green note scratched in your brain that is so green that you never thought it would be scratched...this is your scent. I mowed my lawn and stuck my nose in the clippings and this perfume’s opening is greener than that. The greenest misty, oak moss forest. The wet stone note is unique. I get a hint of blackberry on opening, but more like blackberry leaves or stem. Not so much the fruit. The alcohol spray version may be more fruity, but the oil version is more dense and wet and green. It fades over time to a slightly warmer, softer green. BEAUTIFUL. 10/10 for uniqueness and longevity.

I’m not too crazy about galbanum and green notes in general but Witchery is very nice. It’s very sophisticated, refreshing, and ‘industrial' chic. Oddly enough, it also evokes the feeling of being in a hazy forest; I love this contrast between sleek and whimsical. I don’t find it too masculine like other people are saying. Here’s the thing, I think a lot of people who follow Sorce religiously are gourmand fans, so I can see why people have negative things to say about this one. I particularly love the note of wet stone, I find it so innovative and uplifting. A great selection from a house that mostly focuses on gourmands.

Unlike any perfume that I own! This scent from Sorce is definitely not a safe blind buy. Veryyyy photorealistic as others have said. However I very much love it. This scent is so grounding for me. It reminds me of the Appalachian forests in the summer time after a storm has just gone through-when you can smell the rocks mixed with the damp greenery. The humidity. I find this scent leans more masculine on me but it’s definitely a unisex scent. I might layer it with a sweet, berry scent.

Got a sample in my recent Sorce order and it is superb. Firstly, the notes listed here are wrong. The notes listed on their website is Blackberries, wild violets, galbanum, green stems and thorns, oak moss, benzoin, tree moss, wet stone, mountain mist. It's intoxicating and so interesting, it truly reminds me of witches conjuring up spells in a misty forest. It smells a lot like Coven by Andrea Maack, but wayyy more wearable. I will definitely be getting a full-size bottle of this.

This is very green and pretty. I do like it however, it vanished in my skin in about 2 hours after spraying. The longevity wasn't there. I did not detect any of the berry notes that others are describing. This feels like a more wearable version of Coven if that felt too in your face with the Galbanum. It's more mossy- wet notes.

Smells Exactly like when I was eight years old at the park and I wasn't paying attention while walking next to the swing set and got my white ass catapulted across the playground by the kid on the swing (at least six feet) and ended up with a mouth full of mulch

witchery is like taking a walk around your favorite lake surrounded by tons of green plants. this is a humid, damp, kinda cold, green scent. a little sharp in the beginning but the dry down is so worth it! now i'm curious to smell the oil based version...

I’m still deciding between like and love. The witch lives in a green oak moss filled forest and picks and eats blackberries. No it’s more like she is sucking on blackberry hard candy.

I so agree with the review below. The opening of this is awful. Like cough syrup. The dry down is better but that opening is garbage.

Wow this is nice. Kinda reminds me of a more unisex version of Amethyst from Lalique. But more intense and green
