Aira

This really turned out well. I really don't like when someone compares one perfume to another in a review, because if I'm not familiar with either, the review is irrelevant to me. But I can't resist now, the urge is too strong, so I guess I'll do the same. 🤦 🤷 I bought it blindly (inspired by Milan Scent on TikTok), just like 90% of my collection. When it arrived and I sprayed it on a paper strip, the first thing that came to mind was - maaan, I already have this at home from some other house... yes, ROJA - Parfum De La Nuit No 3. Once you know it, you can't not see it every time you smell it. However, in my country, we have a saying "when two people do the same thing, it's never really the same." That applies also here, of course. I'm writing this review after testing an overspray of Aira on one hand and an overspray of PDLN 3 on the other hand. I don't know if Nathalie was merely inspired by Roja ́s PDLN 3, wanted to imitate it, or outright copy it, or has never even smelled it in her life (probably very unlikely), but I have to say that however it was, she succeeded. The scent of Aira is a bit earthier and darker, in other words, the scent of PDLN 3 is softer and lighter, but as they dry on my skin, this difference diminishes, making them become much more similar. In any case, they race on the same track and run very closely side by side and in the end, one of them will win - based on your personal preferences - by only a hair's breadth. I don't want to say which of the two being compared is better, as that is completely subjective, I'll just say that I have nothing to criticize about the craftsmanship of Aira, the scent is smooth, without any rough edges and nothing about it bothers me. Excellent work. For those who don't know what PDLN 3 smells like – do you like warm, mysterious amber/woody/warm spicy scents that are not in the "challenging" category? This is it, one of the best options on the market. Or have you always wanted to try or to own the "expensive" perfume PDLN 3, but your financial situation doesn't allow it? Go for this one - the door is open and you'll experience exactly the same thing with it as you would with PDLN 3 and I guarantee that when you wear it, more than 95% of ordinary people (not experts), who have ever smelled PDLN 3 in their lives won't notice any difference. I don't know if 95% is not too little, maybe it's more. Honestly, I can't imagine that anyone among those "ordinary" people would be able to recognize any difference - how the scents dry on my hands, it's hard for me to find any, even though I have them right next to each other under my nose for comparison. Nathalie, wooow, I ́m amazed, hat off and deep bow... 👍😎👍 10/10 Edit: I did a little experiment at home. I had three women smell one of my hands, then the other, and I asked them which scent they liked more. My wife said that they were almost the same, but she preferred this one (she didn't know what it was; it was PDLN 3). My two daughters (aged 14 and 16) thought I was trying to trick them and that I had used the same scent on both hands. They said the scents were identical.

This is good, very good. Reminiscent to one of my favorite fragrances of all time Roja's Parfum De La Nuit No. 3 but not a 1 for 1 by any means. It is of the same family dna and could be considered a great cost effective alternative. I don't find them to be redundant to each other however I may be biased to the scent profile. Theres a freshness in the open, something earthy almost aromatic then it begins to settle into that incense, resinous sensuality of an amber, a little dirtier as the spices are a touch amped up, and its kind of a bit more rugged of a leather but well suited where I think PDLN3 is buttery, suede like and overall smoother. Both have subtle touches of oud which I'd be interested in which region they're using. Aira seems to project more as well where the Roja whispers and seduces. From the opening to a few hours of wearing is where they differ the most but in the dry down they fairly identical. And to the untrained nose everything I just typed is a bunch of nonsense. All my true fragrances nerds out there know how we tend to dissect every single nuance 🤓

I really like this. It starts off subtle but gets stronger. Moderate projection. The amber and the wood kind of fight each other for center stage which is interesting. It’s very smooth. I dont pick up the mint or the animalic quality so much. For me its mostly wood, amber, slight spices.

How dont you vote longevity as eternal?? It has been 18 hours and still I can smell

At first sniff, I wanted to say that Aira is just a little too animalic for me (although, fwiw, it is probably the smoothest animalic fragrance I have smelled), but a few minutes after the immediate opening, Aira takes an herbal, almost minty, profile -- I assume from the patchouli and "oriental notes." That herbalness tampers down the animalic nature of Aira, making what would otherwise have been acrid become pleasantly masculine. The patchouli is strong in the heart, rendering Aira a modern and more sophisticated take on that hippy patchouli burning incense smell of yesterlife. I was neither a hippy nor a pothead in my younger, better days, yet, strangely enough, I don't hate Aira. I didn't want to like it, but so far, it's turning into a 'like' for me.

On skin in the air I detect: rough animalic leather from the labdanum I think medium dose of oriental spices slight incense detectable sweet patchouli in the mids A lot of slightly sweet amber that smell weird in the combustion The smell would be better if it's less sweet imo 8/10 on skin in the air I would test it on cotton clothes and update the review as I suspect this off-putting sweetness would be tamer. Update: Somehow it's even sweeter on cotton clothes! 7/10 on clothes.

This is the only perfume where the dupe made me sell the OG I blind bought it from the initial spray reminded me straight away of PDLN3 it’s like when you compare Vibrato and Tygar that’s the best way I can describe it it’s very dark but sweet at the same time and project and last longer than PDLN IMO maybe PDLN is slightly more refined but the same effect that vibrato has on Tygar Aira also did to PDLN

Definitely get the PDLN 3 comparison but also a little plum japonais vibe as well... Not sure if it is a combination of the oriental notes, patchouli, and amber combined? Very very good and will be doubling up on it for sure. This better not be discontinued EVER!
