Basso

Basso is the first fragrance I have been able to sample thoroughly over the span of an entire year. I thought I was going to figure out how the fragrance develops throughout the year. Instead, I ended up learning more about the development of myself and my taste than I did about the fragrance! I have a very distinct memory of the first time I tried Basso. It was an instant passionate love affair for me. The perfect kind of citrus in my opinion. It's a very juicy citrus and is thoroughly complemented by a generous amount of vetiver. To me, that is heaven! The citrus elements of the vetiver are highlighted and propped up in the most beautiful way when combined with the grapefruit acidity and tartness. In my personal opinion, I find that juicy Citrus vetiver combination to be one of the most satisfying. It even tops vanilla, caramel, chocolate or any other gourmand duo that happens to tentatively satisfy that particular craving so well. This combination is so satisfying. However, if this is not your cup of tea, I would not recommend this fragrance to you. There is not much more going on. It's not the most complex. Yes, it does have the signature Sospiro dry down and backbone. Very similar to Xerjoff and for obvious reasons. I am sure people would say it's not the best from the house, but I beg to differ. If you are a big fan of woody, fresh citrusy fragrances that are uplifting, refreshing and aromatic without any lavender, this is the perfect fragrance for you!

Based on the vastly differing reviews here, it's interesting seeing how differently Basso apparently reacts to folks' body chemistry, to the point where some people smell completely different notes from others. Me, I fall into the citrus camp. It is all I smell in the opening, such that to my nose, it initially smells similar to Louis Vuitton Afternoon Swim. If you're considering Sospiro Vibrato, I strongly consider you test this one out first. Both are nice citric fragrances, but Vibrato is the more tart sibling of the smoother Basso. Where Vibrato smells more like grapefruit, Basso smells more like orange (despite the identified notes above). Basso is great and exactly the kind of scent profile I'm looking for at the moment -- bright, citric, fresh and strong performing -- in anticipation of the warm seasons ahead. In the mid, Basso takes a more citrus-floral direction. Interestingly, it is at this phase that Basso smells like an amalgamation of Creedy Royal Water and PDM Valaya. You would think that combination would make Basso more feminine-leaning, and yet, it still stays in that unisex pocket. Yet another sophisticated, elegant and powerful Sospiro fragrance that I highly recommend (yes, over Vibrato).

Wow. I like this one more than Isola Blu. More than ANYTHING TDH (not a fan of that line). And, even more than Perseus. Having owned (or at least extensively worn all of them at one point), I believe that this offering from Sospiro is the pinnacle of this DNA. For me, anyway. The THD fanboys might get upset by such an assertion. Such is life. I'm not here to create waves, this is all just my subjective perspective. The depth, layers, and transitions that Basso makes, combined with the earthiness in the deep dry down, simply cannot be matched by others on the market. The opening is fantastic. The mid is lively and masculine. And the dry down is not only very good, but it sticks around longer than its competitors. I like Perseus, but the performance, although good, isn't near this. Interestingly, i can almost get the Dunhill icon deep in there somewhere (I love that fragrance too). Available at reasonable prices on discounters. Not a fan of the fuzzy bottles, but definitely a fan of the house.

Basso is what the munchkins of the Wizard of Oz used to enliven the air and even polish the sparkling green marble columns of the emerald city. Magic shine juice. No strong musks or overpowering ambers here; Basso exudes class, cleanliness, and vitality. Versatile and inoffensive, it expresses personality and can be worn in conservative business settings like the emerald city board room or a casual summer's day exploring the countryside and rolling poppy fields atop a horse of a different color. Vibrant, bright, zesty grapefruit explodes, invites, and lingers until settling into the citrusy character of the new growth of fir tree tips in the spring with an exceedingly gentle backdrop of coniferous resin, and finally maturing into an inoffensive clean soapiness that continues to move and evolve for hours. Summer signature 2024. A delight.

Blind bought it after hearing so much about Pierre's obsession with it (why do I know so much about this guy?) and am impressed—it lives up to the hype. Comparisons to Hermes are lame. This is smoother, fresher, greener, and more potent. A Bugatti to Hermes's Porsche. Let this beast dry down for thirty minutes and it's a wondrous, fresh woody scent, grapefruit and complex pepper and classy woods, with a hint of celery keeping things zesty and a hair earthy. I own Vibrato, too, and this is every bit as special. The velvety bulbous bottles are exquisite, too, and seem to harken back to an earlier era, while also being faintly reminiscent of sex toys. A safe blind buy, I think. A bit of citrus in a magical woodsy forest, masculine, natural-smelling, handsomely blended into a seamless whole. Pierre, if he's real, has a nose for excellence.

I love this DNA , Terre is Masterpiece for me and yeah this one is up there and to be honest its hard to say that but its better quality. It has thee opening of PDM perseus and then it has the terre Vibe but taking all the good parts from EDT and Parfum , how ? It has the Airynes and pepper from EDT and the Smoothnes and Cleaness of Parfum with a small ( dont be afraid of this ) type of sweetness on the far dry down and all that without losing the earth woody vibe. Much respect to Hermes and Terre , but Sospiro Basso is truly a step forward . Even the Longevity and Projection is like they take the best parts of terre edt and parfum . It has great Projection of edt but keeping the Longevity of pure parfum . The only reason to like Terre more is if u like the note of orange more , and I can see that because some times I miss this also.

This was a very happy accident. I meant to purchase Vibrato but got this instead. But I'm NOT mad! This is an absolutely amazing scent. The citrus stays much longer than a usual fragrance with a citrus top note. It's almost imbedded in the middle layer. It's a clean, yellow grapefruit that is somehow almost soft or has been softened by all the wood base. It's intoxicating! I think I may like this better, dare I say it, than Vibrato! Naw....they are both amazing. It leans masculine. I'm not a sweet gourmand fragrance person and with all of that out there, this is refreshing. Strong and warm enough to be worn in winter yet light and citrusy for summer. The only thing I would caution is daytime use in Summer or maybe lay off a little. Three sprays is enough! And I'm a fan of the over spray. I would rate this a solid 10/10.

Basso is a dark, stronger take on TdH, as many below have pointed out. Thousands of men have grown up making TdH their signature scent, but I don't think it would ring as blasphemy to them if I were to state that this is better. It starts off with that beautiful, fresh grapefruit and almost instantly transitions to a sexy, darker accompaniment characterized by a floral, woody body. The dry down does its best to mix these two together, and succeeds very well. Very happy I found this- this will become my new signature scent. Go easy on the sprays, as with any Sospiro- they are absolutely nuclear in projection and longevity to the point where I dislike Vibrato purely because of how loud it is, and Vibrato is a re-mastered take on one of the most universally liked men's perfumes in Tygar.

Currently I have Sospiro Basso, Montale Red Vetiver in my collection and I used TDH Parfum and EDT around a year in the past. Moreover, I had the chance to try Roja Dove Isola Blu side by side with Basso. If I compare all of them, Isola Blu and Basso are by far the most refined ones with impeccable blend quality. I think Isola Blu a bit more complex with extra facets. Red Vetiver is the harshest one with spike notes and it shows its inferior blend quality mostly in the drydown. This creates the impression that Red Vetiver is a stronger fragrance but not at all. Basso has the best sillage and longevity among them. Long story short, Sospiro Basso has the best value quality proposition here. If you like the DNA, I think it deserves the extra investment. My score: 9.2/10

I tried Vibrato but found it leans a little feminine to me as a man with the powder and florals. So I thought I would try Basso instead and wow it's so much better. It's masculine and longer lasting than Vibrato. It's going on 12 hours + and I'm still clearly getting strong wafts of this fragrance from my neck area where I sprayed it this morning. With the initial spray you will get a similarity with the grapefruit of Vibrato without the ginger. It then turns into this wonderful manly spicy fragrance with a woody/moss bass. The florals are not feminine smelling so there's nothing to worry about there. This works perfect in the heat. It's so refreshing and radiates with great projection. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a beast mode summer fragrance.

This takes the Terre D'Hermes DNA and significantly improves the class of that scent profile. Gone is the dirty orange and the late ISO E Super/Soil/Flint drydown. In other words, gone is the "floor cleaner" smell. Replace the dirty orange with a simulation of grapefruit or a medley of citruses and then replace the Hermes drydown with a floral touch. To me, I think Basso maximizes whatever one can get out of this DNA. And, on a side note, I do like this scent BETTER THAN Vibrato. Vibrato is far more powerful but is also more synthetic (albeit with high quality synthetics) and thus not as pleasing or gentle on the nose as Basso. Yes it is expensive but one way or another in the future, it's on my list to get a full bottle.

Basso is Vibratos older, bigger and wiser brother. It has more depth. Not a slight on Vibrato, its worth having both, each serves a purpose. Vibrato is more versatile, Basso is more unique. Similartys end with them being grapefruit forward. Hot weather wearer. Performance is fantastic, longevity is 8 hours plus. I have the OG Italian version, there is a recent French made batch that has a less alcohol content, so somethings changed. It really is a Summer powerhouse. Its strong. I get a full spectrum of grapefruit/citrus, floral, moss/earthy and woods. Worth noting i couldn't wear this in winter. Didn't like it. Hot, night weather it shines. Masculine stand out scent. A comparison to TDH but it's much more than that. 9.1

People comparing this to Vibrato... I'm curious....where are buying your bottle? I bought direct from Sospiro and my bottle smells nothing like Vibrato but is very similar to the TdH DNA. Its very good, lasts and projects....but probably redundant to own both. I don't know if people are aware...but there are many fakes being sold on tiktok shop, Amazon resellers and ebay. Be sure that you only buy from reputable resellers. The fakes are getting more difficult to distinguish. Basso.....lasts...projects....and smells like a high quality TdH. I think people should include where they purchased there bottle along with their review. I'm sure we'll see certain trends with where purchased and certain types of reviews.

I saw this while browsing the site for vibrato and when I read its similarity to tdh, I added it to my list as a tdh lover and went and tried it at the first opportunity. I don't know if the comments are an influence but I definitely get similar vibes to tdh and I really like it. I haven't tried its performance yet, I will get a small sample and try it, if it is as rated, I will buy it right away. If I am outdoors in the summer, my indispensable will be hacıvat, if I will be in a more closed environment like an office or home, my indispensable will be basso.

@SmellMyTaste83, on the contrary, Isola Blu (2022) is a rebranding of (and slight retouch of) Oligarch (2016) which came out 6 years before Basso (2022). Basso is a typical “clone with a twist” frag where the twist is it’s more synthetic smelling and removes the aromatic florals in the heart that makes Isola Blu/Oligarch much more layered and nuanced (they become much more similar in the far dry down). Christian Provenzano’s career is largely based off this type of rip-off perfumery.

I’m not keen on “unisex” scents or grapefruit notes as I usually find it screechy. Basso is very smooth. The notes come together extremely well, without any one note overpowering the rest. The grapefruit in this is really pleasant and enjoyable. There’s a slight sweetness making this unisex. I love sweet scents and this has just enough sweetness in it that I’d definitely enjoy wearing this. I think my partner would love it too. This is one I may have to add to the collection.

Sospiro Basso is a beautifully crafted fragrance that impresses with its impeccable quality and blend. While it may not be the most unique scent on the market, the magic lies in how masterfully the notes are combined. It has some similarities with Terre D’hermes but not much. TDH is a polarizing scent, SV is appealing. TDH has a dirty side, SV is bright. TDH is suitable for casual and formal occasions, SV is screaming “I am a formal occasion fragrance”, classy, elegant. SV is a beast, incredible longevity and sillage, room filler. TDH has moderate longevity and sillage. I have both TDH and SV, imo if you have a large collection, having both is not redundant.

Way too many comments about Terre D Hermes when Roja Isola Blu is the closest to Basso in comparison. Comparisons aside, Basso is an excellent versatile signature scent. Grapefruit dries down into a vetiver spicy base that gives the citrus depth. There is also green notes in this that makes it unique from your typical bright citrus fragrance. Very well rounded, masculine scent with sex appeal

After trying this and isola blu in store I went for basso, there's a more natural earthy vetiver that's really smooth in here that elevates the whole fragrance whereas isola blu felt a bit more unisex and floral, both are great, but as a guy I'd personally go for this one, performance has been great as well, getting 7-8 hours on my skin, one of my top pics for spring and summer for sure

OMG I was very close to buy isola blu from roja after i tested it wich is cost almost double the price of basso with only 50ml with little bit less longevity compared to basso wow I'm glad I didn't, this one is almost identical 98% and 100ml but I give it to roja for the very pure high quality if u want that go with roja but basso still high quality too, wich is good enough for me.

Blind bought this and Vibrato after seeing Demi’s review. 100% blind buy worthy. I see the resemblance to TDH, but this is way smoother and has a more beautiful opening. The parts of TDH that can put someone off do not exist here - the entire experience is just exquisite. Longevity and Sillage are both strong for a fresh fragrance. Would recommend to any man and give 5/5!

Completely agree with the reviewer below, Basso really can’t be compared to Tdh. They may smell slightly similar however Basso is much higher quality. Tdh a harsh, off putting abrasiveness to it. Basso is a great scent for spring/summer. It’s a fresh, clean, citrus and cedar scent. Perfectly unisex! I love it for myself but will be buying it for the hubby.

Well, first, i don't find resemblance with any of TDH, for now. Second, TDH is more gentlemanly scent than this one, this one is more playful and youthful than TDH. And Basso is more classier, this scent radiates with elegance, simplicity, energy, and is not only for the older crowd. Also, like Vibrato, to me, this one is a mass pleasing scent. Excellent!

Am I the only one getting the vibes of dark dark chocolate at the very beginning? Not sure, what ingredients give this emotion but it haunts me every time (which works great for me). Can agree with TDH comparison but SB seems to be more gentle and subtle. TDH seems more rough and straightforward while SB wears great in the office, IMHO.

Based on the notes I was expecting it to smell more like a masculine cologne, but I think that anyone could pull this scent off. The dry down is phenomenal, the grapefruit is really nice not too overpowering at all. It lasts super long too, I work outdoors in the sun and it performs beautifully for the entire day. YAYYY BASSO :D

Terre D Hermes on steroids... literally. Every aspect of said fragrance is improved, more smooth; the interplay of citrus, woody and earthy elements is amazing. Performance is excellent; very strong for the first few hours, after which it becomes more toned down (but still quite strong) Highly recommend!

Niche version of Terre de Hermes Parfum. Really nice. Has some hints of Terre de Hermes EDT too. Very inoffensive and office safe. It makes a big cloud around you. I love it. I would highly recommend getting it at a discounted price. It is definitely a good addition to any collection.

Terre d‘hermes Votes must be trolling. This is NOT like TdH. I hate TdH and absolutely love this. Crisp, fresh, has depth and very smooth. Smells very close to isola blu with a much better price/value proposition. My search for an Isola Blu Alternative has come to an end.

I’m not sure whether the new batches are weak or not, but the one I have doesn’t project strongly and doesn’t last long. Both projection and longevity are moderate. The scent itself is nice and I like it, but the performance should be better considering the price.

Definitely getting the TDH vibes that everybody mentions. I like TDH and if I had to compare it with Basso, I’d say Basso is more crisp and fresh. It’s a safe blind buy if you’re thinking of adding this to your collection. Get it at a discounted price if you can.

Wonderful, exquisite fragrance, like a gentle stroke of watercolor. Very, very, very similar to Roja Dove's 'Isola Blu.' Unfortunately, the fragrance quickly fades away. Its longevity, its staying power is very short, and that makes me very sad.

I rarely comment on fragrances but this is an exception. An absolute masterpiece. Yes, it has similarities to TdH but don't compare them. It's like if you would compare a very high-end quality wine to a "cheap" wine from a convenience store.

This is a love for me. Yes, it has the dna of Terre D’Hermes, but it takes that profile and upscales it. Basso was overshadowed by Vibrato, but this one is classier and more gentleman-like. Good performance, and projects very nicely.

A very nice fresh scent. A safe blind buy. Opening is a little harsh and a synthetic cleaner scent but within a few minutes it becomes a citrusy delight. Great silage and projection. A fragrance that makes you proud to be wearing.

By far my best blind buy to date. What a banger. I love Isola Blu but the price is criminal. This one scratches that itch for a much lower price, with outstanding quality and performance. Do yourself a favor and get this.

Terre , Isola blu and Basso are the best DNA for classy elegant man. U cant go wrong what ever u choose, personally I like all of them . I find my self keep changing opinion of what I like more ....

One of my absolute favorite light perfumes. It smells elegant, fresh and masculine. It resembles Terre D' Hermes, but a niche version. The performance is very good.

If you like TDH, you will love this. A niche version of TDH dna. Masculine, office safe, and addictive scent profile. Incredibly underrated compared to vibrato

I blind bought this based on Demi's reviews. Here is my take: Day 1: This is a dupe of TDH, and a much more expensive one at that. Yes there are differences, in that some of the more pronounced elements of TDH are not here so it is smoother, but on the other hand everything else is so amped up that it can be a bit overwhelming. I'm thinking this needs to macerate. Day 3: Ok so there are some subtle changes going on here. It has macerated a little bit and now I am starting to get some hints of green/black tea, which combined with the dirty orange nature is giving me some Earl grey tea vibes. On the finish I am getting a candy shop note. To the uninitiated, it is a TDH dupe, but after a couple of days it is showing a slightly different nature. At the moment I am thinking that it could do with a slightly musky and smoky undertone which would compliment the opening notes better and make it more masculine. Day 8: Yes this has morphed. And I think I know what they were aiming at: This is a combination between Terre D’Hermes and Baccarat Rouge, with the more prominent/harsh notes of each toned down. Its interesting, I wouldn’t naturally unite these two scents but they have managed to make the citrus opening of TDH flow quite nicely into the candy floss and sweet notes of BR. Is it the amazing manly wealthy guy fragrance that Demi says it is? I don't know, but I guess its more important that a lady like Demi finds it alluring (my wife has not commented on it yet, lets see if she does). Does it smell “wealthy”? Well its more like they have taken two “wealthy guy” fragrances and combined them, it works quite well. But is it a world beating fragrance and is it worth its VERY hefty price tag? No, sorry I don’t think it is. I think if it had a slight hint of boozy Amber or Musk then it might be more interesting. Try before you buy. You might love it, you might be a bit disappointed.

Ok so this is a "better version" of Terre de Hermes, but is it 250 euros better??? I put a Basso sample spray on my left arm and Terre de Hermes EDT on my right arm and went about my day. Initial opening, they are practically identical. If you were to walk down the street with Basso on, everyone who knows fragrances would think you are wearing TDH. It is TDH, who are we kidding here. In the drydown is where things start to go in different directions. Basso is smoother and more well-rounded, with a creamier sandalwood note coming forward. TDH is starting to fall off into its aroma-chemicals, and a metallic and screechy accord is coming out. Both would still be easily confused with each other. These differences are only noticeable really diving into your arm and sniffing to compare and contrast. If you are a really TDH die-hard and the idea of a far longer lasting and mega projecting version of TDH is your cup of tea, then go ahead and spend the extra 250 euros on this bottle vs the original. But everyone is going think you just over-sprayed TDH lmao.

This is very interesting one for me for multiple reasons. My first Sospiro. I get it during trip in south Italy this year and for 2 weeks i used only this frag every day. I really like it and always it will remind me this chill atmosphere. Some strangers in café or in shops complimented me. When am smelling Basso from the bottle (without spraying) i can smell a bit strange vetiver note. But in the air and also on the skin, its very smooth and vetiver is minimalistic. Very nice blend of citruses and flowers. It has a bit candy vibe for me, bot not very sweet. I think it is sexy, smooth, very nice and very italian. Longevity 5 hours on me. I like to overspray it on clothes to get longer time with it. But I think it is not ideal scent for very very hot days. I dont like Sospiro bottles with this carpet cover :D - dust magnet. My rating - 7,5 / 10. After i get this, i smelled sample of Il Padrino and i think Il Padrino is way better.

Comparison between Isola Blu and Basso... TdH does not belong in this discussion, sorry guys ;) Basso is much woodier, dryer, spicier than Isola Blu. I've seen people using the term "photorealistic" for the opening of Isola Blu, and I have to agree. Basso certainly lacks some of the natural zing, and is heavier on what I assume to be vetiver. Performance goes to Basso of course, but not by as much as you would think. Isola Blu really pumps off the skin for 2 or 3 hours. It's drydown just become a little more basic aromatic, while Basso retains a woody/sour tinge for a while longer. For me, Isola Blu belongs in a real collectors arsenal. I could see Basso being an upgrade to someone's signature scent year round... but not exactly a summery fragrance IMO.
