Erba Gold

It's definitely an upgrade to the standard Erba Pura, they're not lying with the 'Gold' moniker here. Certainly not; it opens up with a magnificent mango. Yes, magnificent. 'Fruity notes' as listed always scares me,, it could be anything, fruit salad, the expected fruit punch, or something involving cherry or peaches or stranger tropical fruits like guava? This goes down the mango path. It's full on mango with shades of the juices of sweetish citrus (mandarins) and lemons giving it a lot of pop. I pitted this against Kemi Blending's Luna; yep, there's a reason they made this - this one is the safer one! And it blows away the Kemi imo. It has none of that pot-pourri theme that is so prominent in the Kemi, that I disliked so much. This is orthodox fruity and I love it. Mango then mellows even further and then a sumptuous vanillic amber starts to take over after 3 hours. I would have liked a bit more complexity but after the sheer disappointment of testing the Kemi and a few other scent for my summer rotation crown, I am not complaining on this one! For me, the best Xerjoff by far, tied with their other gem, Dolce Amalfi (edit, August 2022) - after testing a bunch of Citric (mandarin/lemon) scents for the summer from quite rare collections (only exclusive to Fortnum Mason and Harrods) I can definitely say Erba Gold simply goes from strength to strength in Outcompeting them. It's bold, strong yet 'easy' to wear (do test always though!) and has no annoying 'floral' aspect or base so the Fruits and sweetness can shine. Instead you're rewarded with a glorious amber that only serves to make this scent one of the most sensual among all fruity scents too. My rating: 9/10

Hijacking top comment to kindly ask fragrantica staff to add Xerjoff's Erba Gold. Different bottle, selfridges exclusive. I own both Sospiro's and Xerjoffs and I'd like to display that in my profile. (Once it's added, I will either delete my comment or revise to an actual opinion of the fragrance)

Yep - Sezyvex is right. I'm quite the Sospiro fan/defender. Lots of scents in ridiculous bottles that I do like. Not this one. Erba Pura is a giant amongst (synthetic) fruit bombs. This is just a rehash but lighter and in a yellow bottle. Relies on suckers like me who bought it because....... hang on - why did I buy it? Maybe I like the colour yellow or wanted something that wouldn't look out of place in my urine sample collection. Either way - AVOID.
