Il Padrino

Guys, wait hold on! I need to tell you something! There’s a new release from Sospiro called Il Padrino for 2025, and after seeing a few international reviews, my curiosity got the best of me. I thought to myself, Here we go again another blind buy, and, well, I couldn’t resist. I just had to check it out. And let me tell you I’m so glad I did! The moment I opened the cap and gave it a spray... boom! A burst of amaretto and dark rum hits you right away. You know those high end sweet liqueurs that are rich but never cloying? That’s exactly the vibe. Then bergamot and blackcurrant come in with a Hey, we’re here too! kind of energy lifting that dense sweetness and turning it into something more vibrant and elegant. Imagine sticking your nose into a luxurious cocktail intense, but never sticky or overpowering. As it settles on the skin, that initial explosion mellows into something deeper and warmer. The velvety touch of sandalwood and amber wraps around you, while patchouli adds a subtle depth in the background. It’s like sitting in a dimly lit, wood-accented lounge, sipping a fine drink while being surrounded by rich, comforting aromas. And the drydown? Oh wow. The balsamic, slightly resinous sweetness of vanilla and benzoin kicks in but don’t get me wrong, this isn’t your average sugary department-store sweetness. It’s mature, grounded, and screams signature scent. There’s nothing childish about it; it’s the kind of sweetness that says, “I’ve been through things, I know what I want.” It's gourmet, honestly. To be fair, when I first sprayed it, I was worried it might be too heavy but it evolved beautifully. The woody and resinous notes left this warm, luxurious trail on my skin that I can’t even fully describe. Longevity? Oh, it projects right from the start. In the first 3 - 4 hours, you’ll absolutely turn heads when you walk into a room people will ask what you’re wearing. And I’m sure it lasts even longer, but I just couldn’t wait to share this fresh experience with you. If you’re into sweet but not sugary boozy, warm, and incredibly charismatic scents like I am, then you need to give Il Padrino a shot. But a fair warning: this is not for summer heat it will overwhelm. This is a fall/winter evening fragrance through and through. Think elegant dinners or special nights out. Not office friendly at all it’s way too bold for that. Actually, bold is an understatement; this scent walks into a room and owns it. Vanilla and liquor notes can often go wrong in perfumes, leading to synthetic, sickly messes. But here? The balance is just perfect. It neither overwhelms nor disappears. It's like a dessert crafted by a master chef in Italy every note precisely measured. Thanks to the amber and woods, it lasted a solid 8–10 hours on my skin. And if the weather’s cool and you’re dressed up? I swear, this scent transports you to another level. Sweet, yet unmistakably masculine. Boozy, but never messy refined to perfection. Very few perfumes strike this kind of balance so skillfully. They didn’t name it Il Padrino (The Godfather) for nothing this scent isn’t for just anyone. It carries weight, presence. Think of those charismatic mafia dons in old films that aura. If you like Initio Side Effect, this might feel like a more elegant, suited-up cousin. But don’t get me wrong this is no Side Effect clone. Il Padrino has its own strong identity. I love the boozy character in Kilian’s Black Phantom too, but Il Padrino feels cleaner, more wearable, and less headache inducing. Some fragrances don’t just make you smell good they transform you. You feel like you’ve stepped into a role. Il Padrino is exactly that kind of scent. It gives you that feeling from the first spray. Sospiro, Nathalie Templer, Salah Al Zarooni... hats off to all of you. This perfume is a masterpiece. Seriously, it’s that good.

***This is off my skin, with my PH levels, my natural scent, my products used, and my body heat. Smelled by my nose, which was developed by my genetics and memories. Memories alone are a primary reason your brain tells you something smells good or bad. So still try it for yourself, and enjoy the journey*** I think a lot of the hate from this comes from people only testing on a strip/clothing, or in the opening. Not everybody, but a lot. This is something that needs skin development to really shine. My testing spray routine. Mind you, this is with a tester; the actual atomizer may vary. I moisturize my arms and neck before applying. I then spray twice under each ear, twice to the back of the neck, and then I spray one elbow ditch once, and the other twice. (to see what I prefer) The Opening: -Started off in a fruit/booze forward scent. The fruit mix definitely comes off between a cherry and fruit punch. Definitely has a synthetic feel, BUT in my opinion, it's only the positive parts of synthetic notes. That may sound odd, but try it out and see if you agree. There is also notes that make the fruit smell very "juicy", which is lovely. - There are other notes present, but not discernible. They basically are enhancing what I have already mentioned, rather than being their own thing. -Definitely a love or hate. I think it's lovely, but understand why some might find it a turn off. Dry down. - Fruit and booze started to calm down in about 30/40 minutes, and evolution slowed down at about the 2/3 hour mark. The rest is what I noted at hour four. -My right arm (one spray) has calmed down a lot. A light fruit/amber mix. A little more nuttines and woods are showing, but overall it has calmed down. On my skin, it's become an intimate scent, slightly sweet and just pleasant. I can't see it offending anyone. (Mind you, I have been wearing jackets, so there is a chance that a bit rubbed off.) -The alcohol is very airy, which lets it combine with the fruit notes. I get the potency of rum(no burn, just doesn't come off as a wine etc), with a bit of a nutty background. -Left arm (two sprays). Now this still has some life in it. The fruits and booze have calmed down, but are still very detectable and probably the main notes. Amber has picked up to compete, and blends very nicely with the rest to add a bit of balance. Woodiness is there under it all, and the patchuli is more like there's some in the room with the other notes, rather than a leaf directly in the mix. Still sweet, still boozy, but not screaming it anymore. Just an excited conversation. - I do get wafts coming from my neck occasionally that match my left arm. I spray it far enough back that it's not constantly hitting me, so this is a good sign. Performance- With the decant sample I received, the difference between one and two sprays is enormous. One is very intimate and airy, and two spray still has some oomph to it. I greatly prefer the two sprays, as it has created a scent bubble of around an arm's length. Longevity- With the two spray routine, I get around a full eight-hour day of having a bit of performance, skin scent between for ten to twelve. Honestly, I may add in a spray or two to my shirt and or jacket to hit my personal preference. I like when people smell me, but do not want to cause headaches or annoyance. I think Sospiro has decent pricing when they hit discounters, which I could recommend around there. For me 9/10 (I really like it and will be keeping a bottle ready to use in my collection)(I have not tried Side Effect or the likes though) My wife 7/10 (Thinks it smells nice, and won't complain when I wear it, but doesn't need it in my collection. Though she usually only rates clean and fresh fragrances higher... BOOORRRRIIINNNNG ha!)

This is my first Sospiro fragrance. I recently blind bought this. I didn't know it was a hyped fragrance on Tik Tok (I don't follow tt). I was just browsing through a fragrance site, and I came across this, I looked up the notes - Blackcurrant, Rum, Amaretto, Vanilla, Amber, what's not to like. I love every single note in this fragrance. I ordered immediately, just based on the notes. Got it at 30% off, during Christmas sale. I was looking for a new boozy, rum fragrance, I tried Van Py Rhum, Jusbox 54, but I didn't like any of those, both were too sweet, caramel, chocolatey, not to my liking. But this one I love, a lot. It has strong amaretto note projecting on my skin, which I love. It is boozy, fruity and sweet, but in a cloying way. It is really very well blended. Right out the box, it's a love at first sniff for me. This is the best blind buy I had this year. It is 100% accurately named, this is exactly what the godfather would smell like. It's rich, It's classy, It's strong, It's loud, but it doesn't have to announce itself, its a quiet presence that lingers.. 10/10 for me so far. That being said, I would say it is not blind buy safe for everyone. You have to like rum, amaretto and boozy scents in order to like this fragrance. If you don't, then this is not for you.

II Padrino means Godfather, this connects well to the fact that it smells like an italian mobster, in a nice suit, appears well dressed but possesses a masculine energy and a presence that demands your attention. The defining note of this fragrance is amaretto, it’s about as close as you can get to how it actually smells. I enjoy the taste of it, so for me it’s hard to not smell that note. Although it’s what I mainly get, I do smell more fruit and more amber in this fragrance, some spicy cinnamon in the back as well. Very boozy and warm. Performance is great, however, it’s not THAT good. Yeah it’s performs, but I find that on my skin it can get inconsistent. Sometimes it’s lasting me 6 hours, other times i’m getting 2. I wasn’t initially impressed by that. I have yet to try it however from letting it sit after 6 months. I expect it will probably be more consistent. Under 200 bucks, this fragrance provides insane value. Genuinely so worth it for me, it can hold its own against niche fragrances almost double that any day of the week.

i blind bought this and WOW is this straight heaven in a bottle. that amaretto note is very very obvious from the start but it blends so well with the vanilla and balsamic notes. this kinda reminds me of french defense by mind games in the way the cherry scent from the amaretto comes out but more warm and boozy than french defense. i think this is sospiro's best fragrance release ever, vibrato being a close second. but vibrato is in a whole different category, so its hard to compare. edit: now that i own narcotic delight and side effect, i can say that il padrino kinda smells like the lovechild of both. narcotic delight is too cherry forward to compare, and side effect is too leathery to compare. but i feel like if narcotic delight and side effect went on a hot date and made a cute little baby, it would be il padrino. that being said, i prefer il padrino over both initio's.

IL Padrino is addictive! I can't stop smelling it. I would wear this fragrance all year round. It smells fresh and fruity followed by warm, ambery and resinous all at the same time. I believe it leans masculine to my nose. The black currant is a long lasting note with almost cherry vibes from the Amaretto. It's very intoxicating! I find I go nose blind for a little bit because of its strength but my nose eventually picks up on it again and you will get wafts of it throughout the day. When I got a sample of this I could smell this scent strongly on my pillow and clothes for days. Sospiro fragrances is beginning to be one of my favourite houses. It really is a quality brand. I love that their fragrances are mainly all 36% oil too. I look forward to trying more of their range. Basso is a great love of mine too for all year round wear.

I blind bought this based on the reviews here and the notes listed and for the first few weeks I regretted it because I thought it was nice, but not worth the price I paid for my bottle. Then over the next two months it started to grow on me and now I love it. Maybe it's because I got my bottle in July and this fragrance is more suitable for cold weather, but I went from feeling tepid about it to really loving it. The amaretto, rum, amber and blackcurrant are quite prominent to my nose. It's boozy in a fruity, sweet way, not like "someone spilled a drink on this guy". Judging by some of the negative reviews I'd say don't blind buy it, but do test it on your skin and not a strip because it smells very different on skin--better, in my opinion. I also think it would smell amazing on a woman. Scent 8/10, longevity 9/10, sillage 9/10.

This brand’s production method is quite confusing. We can speak of two production methods. One has the production code written in the exact center of the round label at the bottom of the bottle, where it says 'Italian Luxury Perfume.' The other has batch codes starting with DBE engraved at the bottom of the bottle, and it only says 'Made in France.' The batch codes starting with DBE have a very harsh, boozy opening. When I asked the brand about this, they said they had no information, but this is not true because on the company's own website, I received images from authorized sellers that show these two different types of batch code labeling.

Hoşuma gittiği için tam boy aldım, fiyatı yüksek ama muadil bir koku bulamıyorum. Side effect ile alakası yok kağıt üstünde benzemeleri koku aleminde pek bir şey ifade etmiyor. Kokunun açılışı çok sert ilk 10 dakikada beni 1-2 kere hapşurtuyor sanırım içindeki bir şeye alerjim var ama sonrasında bu durum oluşmuyor. Lüks bir koku dediğim gibi pek muadili yok benim çok hoşuma gidiyor sıcak havalar için ağır kaçar sonbahar kış aylarında haftada 1-2 gün elim gitti... Puanım 8/10

I don't know if the creative director at the house was responsible for naming this fragrance, or if it was the perfumers. To name it "The Godfather" invokes a bold level of confidence in its creation to market it this way. And they have the right to be confident in this, because they know what they have here. It's as mass appealing as a fragrance can be that is geared toward fall/winter. It's fun, sweet, easy going, kind of light and bright, but rich at the same time. You won't have to be preferential to its profile to recognize that it is perfect at what it does. Get your nose on this!

This is my newest addition to my Sospiro collection of which I now have 5. All of them are exceptional and Il Padrino is no exception, more of a fall and winter scent but cosy enough to wear anytime (except hot weather) in my opinion. I love boozy fragrances and this one is as good as Angels share for scent profile-I’m not saying it is the same as Angels share it’s not, but like Angels share it’s a boozy cool evening fragrance. Il padrino projects like crazy with a 12 hour plus longevity. It’s unisex but leans a little more masculine this fragrance is worth the hype it receives.

Just wow. Such an amazing fragrance. It opens with a very realistic blackcurrant note. Then the amaretto and rum kick in. They blend into a warm rum and amaretto accord mixed with juicy blackcurrant and slightly chocolatey patchouli, like a rich cocktail. Every spray makes me say wow. The performance is amazing. It lasts on me for about 12 hours, then turns into a skin scent but still lingers for another day if I don’t wash it. On clothes it lasts for weeks. People notice it as soon as you enter a room and it fills the air smoothly, even without any wind.

Coming from a designer nose starting to get into neiche. This opens with a deep fruity cherry like boozy bomb. 30-40 min in the sweet fruit dies down and a nutty rum note with a deep slightly sweet vanilla base comes out. First wear i felt confident as hell. Its a confidence boosting scent that makes you feel like the man. I prefer this boozy scent profile over the gourmondy ones like angel share. This is more masculine and mysterious. Beast mode performance. Will be my winter/fall going out and date night signature.

I blind bought this and I have to say I wasnt impressed at first. There was something irritating about the opening. However, the drydown turned out to be fantastic. Its definitely something unique with that amaretto note. One thing I dont really like about it is that it has like a milion ingredients in its production. To me it has a hint of Argos' Triumph of Bacchus. Projection is beastly : Sitting and typing at the computer its constantly hitting my nose for hours now. There is something addicting about it for sure.

First sniff? Instant love. No warm-up period, no getting-to-know-you phase—just straight-up “hello, I’m boozy, bold, and I pay rent here.” 😂 That boozy opening (think warm cognac vibes) hits immediately, and it’s backed by a smooth vanilla-amber warmth that makes it feel expensive in a slightly dangerous way. What I love most is how it stays smooth while still being loud. Overall: love at first sniff and emotionally attached now. Its not a foo foo girlie fragrance but as a female i pull it off and love it.

Smells like Side effect with less tobacco and oud and more of a smooth boozy coffee/berry accord. I didn't like it at first but with time its becoming one of my favorites oat. its very hard to understand because of how well it is blended so it is fun to keep smelling and find subtle nuances. Lowkey don't want to wear it bc I don't think people would get it. Absolute work of art tysm McNasty for pmo to ts. Definitely pick up a sample at least (I don't think you would make much use out of a full bottle)

This is the very first review I’m leaving on here & I’ve been using this website for a long time now, while owning MANY fragrances. IL Padrino is nothing short of AMAZING. Very few fragrances have really wowed me from initial smell. French Defense & G of Fire are the only two I can think of outside of this. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the opening, I love this. I read the notes & had a strong feeling I’d really like it but I did not expect to be this star stuck. Truly a masterpiece

Thankfully i don’t get erba pura vibe by any chance, its amazing for me and lasting over 13 hours and very good silage , for me the scent is bozzy blackcurrant and ameretto/cherry and rum /little fresh bergamot, the drydown is like another perfume nothing like the opening i got only Amber and vanilla and little woods. I got a sample 3 month ago and i always sniff it everyday and i love it more and more so finally i got a good deal on it i got a 85-90ml bottle for 110$ so i bought it

Fruity, Rich, Classy. From the first spray, it comes across as fruity and deep, with a smooth, slightly sweet undertone which is well balanced and refined, adding richness rather than turning sugary. It lasts around 10h and projects nicely. On my very first wear, I received multiple compliments, and that says a lot, considering that my co-workers already know me as the fragrance guy. For a niche fragrance, I would say this is a perfect combination of unique and mass-appealing.

I know perfumes are subjective but reviews really do need to be objective. Il Padrino was love at first sniff for me, I'm by no means an expert but I found this so good, I bought a back up bottle. I do have around 80 bottles of niche and around 20 designer perfumes which I'll be de-cluttering in 2026 but this is my second favourite out of my 2025 purchases. Top spot goes to Ambre Unit Esprit which is amazingly good, a bit expensive, yes but it sings to me. I also have the OG.
