Maraschino

Eeek just got my hands on this and it’s not something I ever expected Sospiro to make but at the same time, I’m so glad they did and you can definitely still tell it’s by them. To me, it’s tart sweet, but a tart that is yes, so sweet that you it conveys a “sickly syrupy” sweetness, but still a tart and not a syrup. The longevity of this is just as great as all their other perfumes, it stays on clothes for days. Everything is blended very well, which I!!! love when it happens because so often a note stands out more than others and so a perfume becomes just “cherry scent”. It’s not the case here, if you want for people to pick up on, or associate your scent directly with cherries, you’re not going to achieve that with this. The fact that you can’t associate it with one note alone (which ironically seems to be what people want quite badly from the reviews) is what makes this perfume NOT cheap smelling at all. I can see how this could be a “gourmand for men”, but I wouldn’t like it on a man. It’s very womanly to me. Not girly, because I also wouldn’t see this as something worn by a girl. This is for someone who knows themselves very well. When you enter a room, it carries a silent power—as if you know something that others don’t, which makes you imperturbably calm.

let's talk cherry! I was sampling Rouge Smoking from BDK and the very first whiff of cherry reminded me of Maraschino, but there were more similarities - both are gourmand, sweet, vanilla'y, powdery, I could pick similar florals... So I sprayed them on two wrists for two days straight just to have a proper side to side comparison. Both are absolutely lovely but I find Maraschino just slightly more interesting hence the review here. First of all, the cherry notes doesn't go away like in Rouge Smoking, but stays blended into the composition throughout. Maraschino's cherry is a bit sour, like a runny sour cherry jam (I am guessing that was the intention), so interesting. While it could be considered gourmand it is not overtly sweet like Rouge Smoking and the drydown of Maraschino actually has something more woody and dry in the base - making it more unisex. I'd say it's a gourmand for men, but also a perfect lovely scent for women as well. Overall the biggest win for me is the lasting impression of cherry, which I have not encountered yet elsewhere, it's normally a top note that is quite fleeting. I feel like it's a bit underrated looking at reviews, definitely a top notch perfume!

I had the chance to smell this scent before it was launched at ScentXPlore in New York, December 2023. Let me tell you, I cannot stand cherry fragrances they all smell like cough syrup/too almond-y to me. But THIS? Is a masterpiece. The combination of the fruity notes in this (strawberry/peach) with that beautiful musk that is so characteristic of sospiro, makes this MOUTH WATERING & HEAD TURNING. No joke, I own & review hundreds of fragrances as a content creator but THIS is the cherry on top (pun intended lol) 🤌🏼 Brava to the perfumer & the whole team behind this scent - they were able to create the perfect Maraschino Cherry scent, without making it overly synthetic, juvenile or cough-syrupy. it is a very photorealistic scent of a Marchino cherry; sourness followed by sweetness of biting into one in a fruity cocktail. I can think of anything this reminds me of, but if you think of the opening in Tom Ford's electric cherry, it has similar qualities although it goes in a very different direction. The addition of Sandalwood and tonkabean makes this scent very well-rounded and complete at the drydown. I rarely give scents 10/10 but this one deserves it. 👏🏼🍒

Maraschino is definitely one of the most unique cherry fragrances I’ve ever smelled! It’s not your typical cherry scent, some cherry fragrances share the “cough syrup" kind of vibe but this is more fruity, sweet with floral touches and a wonderful warm, balsamic and rich base. Opens up very fruity, with a blast of strawberry, apple and peach! Apple and peach give a fresh-sweet and mouthwatering aspect which I absolutely adore! Soon enough a wonderful, sour, tangy & sweet cherry note comes up which is perfectly combined by the almond creating a tender, delicate kind of milky layer. In the mid a rich, floral combination starts showing up, cutting off the sweetness, giving an uplifting, elegant & slightly feminine touch. As it dries down the cherry note is definitely still there, tonka bean with vanilla are combined perfectly, creating a little bit of creamy sweetness. Amber adds warmth & a balsamic touch, while sandalwood & vetiver creates a subtle woody base. Amazing creation by Sospiro !!️ Wonderfully blended, high quality & unique juice! This one is definitely gonna be one of the best releases of the year. Ig fragrancesguru

Many sources attest that the real creator of Maraschino was Bartolomeo Ferrari, when he realised that by using marasca, a cherry with a juicy and slightly sour pulp, including leaf and nut, an exquisite liqueur could be created. A liqueur that became the vaunt of the Venetian Republic, but also of the city of Zadar, appreciated by kings and queens all over Europe. And let's be honest, this fragrance cannot be disliked. It is easy, simple, slightly sweet and with a very pleasant cherry (not sour cherry) undertone, balanced by the bitterness of the almond, by a splendid, creamy floral part, it is undoubtedly mass appealing. It brings me joy, it is playful and fresh, really nice. In my wishlist, too. ‘Boy with Cherries’ painted by Manet.

I have been on a search to find cherry fragrances that are furthest from the TF Lost Cherry and its similar alternatives. I have found another (the other one is Dare). On first spray, I get a pretty, fruity, bright, sweet cherry. I will be back to update after a full day's wear. Edit. I have tested it for 3 days and sadly this cannot be called a cherry fragrance. That sweet bright cherry in the opening lasts for 10-15 minutes and the dry down does not resemble cherry at all. I get all of Vanilla, Almond and Amber which are favorites of mine so I am not mad at it. I just wished that cherry lasted.

Slightly more strawberry than cherry, but the fruity opening is delicious. Florals come out like 15-30 minutes in, and then it has a warm vanilla dry down. The almond note is prominent throughout. I personally love this fragrance because it doesn’t smell like any of the cherry/strawberry fragrances I have (La Capitale, Bodacious, Jump Up and Kiss Me Hedonistic) and like with most Sospiro’s the performance is amazing. I would give it a 9/10. If you don’t like berries, almonds or florals you won’t like it but if you like any of those notes I would sample before taking these reviews as gospel

Adoro! One of the best cherry perfumes available. The cherry has a fresh, watery/ozonic quality and it combines effortlessly with the musk and vanilla. After spraying it creates an elegant sweet "bubble" around you, and holds in the fabric or skin for many hours (up to days on fabric). The bottle is also very beautiful. Even though it comes with high price tag, is totally worth it!

I had a guy over who was wearing this, and I could literally smell the fragrance faintly in my room for the next two days. It was so good I had to ask him what it was so I could buy it for myself like i wasnt even thinking about him it was just like this scent is so good i need it. obssessed

Cherry and more cherry, some jasmine, some airy musk. It is ok. It is nice but nothing extraordinary, it feels synthetic but not as much as montale's for example. I would layer it with a rose scent. I will use my decant but no full bottle for now.

Sospiro are becoming one of my favourite fragrance houses. I am particularly fussy with a cherry fragrance note and this one is done perfectly. You get an instant burst of fruity goodness with a dreamy dry down. 10/10 for me

10/10 if you like cherry go ahead bro this scent give me some lost cherry vibes but a more fresher version

I'm with all those who think the opening is amazing! It's sweet & juicy but slightly sharp. Then it gets a little powdery with more Florals coing through. The base notes are not coming through on me yet, which I hope will become more prominant. I don't really care much for Jasmine forward scents, and it ALMOST tips too strong in here. I'm not familiar with distinguising Heliotrope, Mimosa or Orris so really can't speak on that. From what I have learned though, my guess is Orris is contributing the powdery note. This is a pretty, very "perfumey" scent with good projection, but idk if this my style. Will update on longevity and dry down. A little over an hour in, the scent is softening but still very detectable while fading. The base notes, while not as strong as I would like, are a little more noticeable: light Musk, Sandalwood, Tonka and some Amber. This is a very pretty scent, and while not extraordinary, it is a pleasant scent that doesn't illicit any negative characteristics for me. I could see myself wearing this occasionally, but not often enough for a full bottle at the current cost.

So overall, I like this fragrance. It's the sweet cherry top notes with the strawberry and almond that set it off. But they are definitely artificial. It almost smells.lioe.a.feuitt cherry juice. But the almond mellows the sweetness so it's not too That sweet.to me after that the orris, mimosa , jasmine , vanilla and amber come out the most . The issue is that the cherry disappears after a minute . Then it's really just strawberry and almond at the top. I don't know about anyone else but I kind of get a chapstick waxy texture from it . I absolutely love cherry notes but it's hard finding good ones especially for me trying to get something that is unisex or easy to layer . This leans more towards the feminine side but can definitely be unisex. Performance is not very good. It projects for maybe 45 minutes and sticks to the skin for maybe 4 hours . It's too expensive for what it is. I am hoping this hits discounters for cheap because I do like it . But I'm positive a dupe will be out that is stronger Scent- 8.0 Complexity - 7.0 Quality - 8.0 Performance - 4.0 Bottle - 9.0 ( fancy)

This is a nice, grown up-ish fruity bomb. Like a lot of reviews have already mentioned, it's not as cherry-centric as you would think based on the name. It's more like a fruity cocktail with a canned maraschino cherry on top. I get a lot of the strawberry and peach (which is unfortunate for me because i dont like peach generally in fragrances). I only get a hint of florals in this (definitely fruit centered) and in the dry down it makes for a sweet, fruity transparent musk (i.e. not sharp or heavy like in erba pura). I like this but it is somewhat synthetic, despite this is does smell undoubtedly "good". It's sweet but not overly sweet. It's a nice easy, pick-me-up fragrance that isn't overly juvenile. It also performs really well. Not the most complex but I do enjoy it and it's one of the few niche fragrances that I did not blind buy, so purchased it after acquiring a sample knowing full well how it would smell on my skin. No regrets. The deep dry down is my favourite, mellows out to this vanillac, smooth/fluffy fruity musk.

I bought this one considering the notes and the perfumer Christian Provenzano. Smell good but in my opinion is very similar or a dupe of Bodacious from Boadicea de Victorious ( which I also own). Both has similar notes and also Provenzano as the nose. Maraschino has more prominent the apple and peach. Is soft with less longevity and sillage. Is very different from other cherry fragrances. I like and a must for cherry lovers. Bodacious is a beast, a masterpiece. More dense, intense and complete, a little spicy with a great projection. Both smells divine!!!

Great scent over all very fruity and sweet smells exactly like maraschino cherries in the best way with some powder and wood in the back ground definitely a bit more feminine leaning but I would say if you’re confident anyone can pull it off I would say it’s great for a daytime scent spring or fall but I do think you could get away with it at night getting from discounters I think it’s worth it I wouldn’t pay full price thought

Maraschino is like a delicious cherry pie! The opening is so juicy and sweet with the cherries, strawberries, and peach. It dries down to this warm, powdery vanilla with a hint of almond. It's definitely feminine but not overly girly. Perfect for daytime wear.

Cherry is here but strawberry dominates. Not maraschino, though--open a jar and sniff the difference. The fruitiness, which is relatively good and not synthetic, fades far too quickly. There is a phase that does remind me also of cherry chapstick.

At first, I do not like this at all because of the powder note but throughout the day, you get that lavender note. I probably won’t purchase because I’m not a fan of powder scents.

I really enjoyed this one. It’s a cherry but the strawberry shines which i absolutely love. Definitely can see this being a full bottle.

This is one of the better cherry fragrance is out there you guys should try it. Especially for the price you can’t beat this.

I would have to agree with Orbco97 that this is not the cherry-dominant fragrance that most reviews are hyping it up to be. It does have a very sweet, bright cherry note in the opening but it quickly dries down to a very powdery, almond dominant fragrance. The cherry stays throughout the wear but it's very faint, I get a lot more peach and strawberry than cherry after the first hour, and it's again, very sweet, powdery and floral. If you expect a dark, juicy cherry that stays all the way into the dry down, this is not the fragrance for you. If you want something similar to Lost Cherry or Cherry Ambition, this is nothing like it. It's very bright and fruity in the opening, but very floral and powdery in the mid and dry down. Definitely leans feminine. Right now, performance is average. I'm aware this a new release and might need to let it sit for a few months, but it's not as strong as other Sospiro fragrances. It sits very close to the skin and doesn't project much. Please sample this before you you buy it. It's extremely expensive for what it is and as much as it is a pretty unique fragrance, I'm not sure it deserves all the hype it's getting right now.

Some of these reviews are very accurate. The cherry isnt fresh, real fruit cherry. Its more like a you purchased a cherry/strawberry popsicle and it melted on your arm and you smell it. As mentioned, its syrupy sweet with no fruit tartness. The apple and almond are way in the back. Right when you think it might get cloying, the flowers come in and the strawberry and cherry chill a bit. It can be best described as a very nice balanced fruity Jasmine. I really enjoyed the mid. It has good performance with average projection but good sillage and longevity. Its like the cherry/strawberry version of Kirke by Tiziana Terenzi. Im luke warm on it. I dont hate it. I find it feminine.

Maraschino is a very strange fragrance.. It started off amazing with a nice candied cherry fragrance. It was almost similar to a red jellybean. However, this quickly vanished and left a strange sent behind. I thought of it as if it were a mother wearing Tom Ford’s electric cherry, while holding a baby whose diaper was full. on the dry down, I just smell a faint cherry with some floral and sandalwood notes.

That’s a heavy powdery scent with spicy and slightly cyanidic almondy cherry with somewhat medicinal (metallic) facet. It also has a powerful fruity floral accords (mostly jasmine and some very synthetic fruits). It’s okay, but not a big fan.

This is a cherry bomb pop. Sweet, bit of tang, and very immature smelling. Not a fan.

If you’re one of those few people who likes the smell of wet towels, this is for u!

My first foray into this house. I hate to say it but I am not impressed with Marachino. Maybe it’s because I wore the beautiful (and my favorite cherry) Duchessa yesterday and also recently emptied my sample of Cherry Punk. Those two hit what my personal cherry appetite requires. TBH I don’t actually get much cherry from this scent. I get a lot of powdery florals and ambery musk with some muddled fruit at the top. And unfortunately it leans on the synthetic side. It also smells a bit dated to my nose. I am confused as to why name a perfume after such a specific fruit and then basically bury that note. Maybe it’s just me ... oh one last note imho if you want powder and cherry I still think Rouge Smoking does that the best. (EDIT: I came back to say I actively dislike this after a full wear...)

I really tried to like this fragrance, but it's a pass for me. It's just ok. Is it different from many other cherry fragrances on the market? Definitely! But for me, not in a good way. I can smell the cherries, but they sit on top of a synthetic, sharp base, which I don’t enjoy that much. It overpowers the rest of the notes. Jasmine, heliotrope, vanilla, sandalwood? I don’t get any of those. So far, the beautiful lavender Traviata is the winner in the red Sospiro collection. I have high hopes for Dolce Sonata, though I’ll approach it with caution.

I stand by my original review of this scent... Don’t enjoy it at all. It’s a weird powder floral that smells very old-fashioned... This is coming from someone who loves powder in my perfume. It just smells like such a jumble and I also hate the fact that if someone’s looking for a cherry scent, this is totally not it. The primary fruit scent I get is orange. Such a misleading name.( FYI: trying my sample again because I hate to dismiss something after one wear. I wasn’t wrong here for me personally.)

Ick. Fruity, powdery, warm, a little spicy. Stale, old, headache-inducing. Imagine a five hour long opera, not a good one, performed in the middle of the day by amateurs and the only people in the audience are 4 senior citizens. That’s what this smells like. Or a date in the evening with someone very weird and unpleasant.

I received a free sample of this recently... so its basically cherry chapstick + nice shampoo = very overpriced generic synthetic cherry. The cherry scent doesn't last and the dry down is near on identical to Aventus for Her. It does last a long time, I'll give it that at least. I won't be purchasing a full bottle.

Such a letdown. There are maraschino cherries.. yes. But the whole fruity vibe is completely overpowered by the synthetic ambery musky smell. Its the same note as a bunch of cheap arab scents and a bunch of creations by montale. Instant headache.

The opening was very delightful, smelled like sour and juicy berries, mostly cherry. After few minutes the scent turned into musky grandma florals. There is nothing "Maraschino" about this fragrance.

Smelled it in the store. Its synthetic, plasticky, harsh and not really pleasant in the opening. I get strawberry more than cherry. I don't think it is worth the price.

Out of all the cherry 🍒 fragrances I tried thus far, this is my least favourite. Very bright, synthetic and almost soapy 🧼

Just got my sample in the mail. One spray and it's very strong, this is no wimpy fragrance. I agree with the others that this is not your typical cherry fragrance. This is a fruity cocktail/floral. The cherry is definitely there, but so are other sweet fruits. In the beginning I get a blast of sweet fruits. Probably peach and strawberry the most. It's hard to find the cherry at first. The fragrance changes though and the cherry comes out quickly while the other fruits recede into the background. There is definitely some almond but this is not a heavy almond fragrance like so many others. This is a fruity floral. Very sweet very yummy. The cherry is a bit sour, I was getting a sort of sour candy vibe, maybe a smarties or pez vibe. Sweet, a little tangy, a little powdery. This is the most unique cherry fragrance I've tried, and I appreciate that it went in the fruity direction and not the boozy or almondy or cough syrup direction that many cherry fragrances go toward. I think this is going to be a big hit, and I'm looking forward to the other red bottle releases from Sospiro coming out this year!

Maraschino Overall: 6/10 Projection: 6/10 Longevity: 6/10 Sillage: 6/10 Comments: Maraschino is a good reminder that in the pursuit to become everything one will become nothing. All the right Sospiro ingredients are in this perfume. However, it has too many of them. It suffers from being a cacophony of notes as opposed to a beautiful arrangement. I enjoy the cherries. I enjoy the apple. I enjoy the almonds. I enjoy the strawberries. I enjoy the vanilla. I enjoy the musk. I enjoy-.. At some point, someone needed to intervene and say "Is this perfume supposed to be a cherry-forward Maraschino experience or a fruit basket?". It's hard to not judge this fragrance within that context. I went out looking for a high-powered cherry perfume that would have great longevity like some of Sospiro's other perfumes, but unfortunately the cherry note has to compete against too many other notes in this fragrance.

Forget about Lost Cherry, and all its rivals. This is not your typical Cherry fragrance! Love at first sniff! Bright maraschino cherry opening, mixed with syrupy fruit cocktail. Almond gives it creaminess and amplifies the cherry. The Heliotrope, Jasmine, Rose and Mimosa mixture plays in the background,it’s subtle ,giving the uplifting floral note that just lingers. The dry down is sweet, but not sticky or cloyingly sweet, thanks to Vanilla, Tonka, and Patchouli. The Amber and Sandalwood, gives it the warmth, oudy touch to it, mostly present in the initial and dry down. Ah and Vetiver and musk envelopes all of these into a very beautiful silage that’s so addicting and lasts for a long time. Very beautiful all around! A masterclass in perfumery! Sir Christian Provinzano deserves his flowers!!! 🌺

I am glad I was patiently waiting to sample it first and didn’t blind buy it. I love cherry perfumes, Bodacious and Lost Cherry my favorites and I hope will never be discontinued. I have a recent addition to my collection - Narcotic Delight too...As soon as I see cherry in the notes I need to get my nose on it:) Maraschino, unfortunately, a big disappointment to me, I don’t get much cherries - more strawberry, which I love too..but it does smell completely artificial and sorry..cheap. Lacks depth and fades quickly to some sort of generic smelI. I absolutely understand that every fragrance is not supposed to be complex and deep, the price tag though doesn’t match the scent and performance to me.

Smelled this at scentxplore , all I remember is that it’s mouthwatering. I didn’t get to experience it on skin tho but I have a feeling it’s not a cherry dominant fragrance for the entire wear. It’s sweet and fruity. The cherry is a juicy ripe cherry (NON medicinal) , a bit powdered but in the best way possible . When I smelled it from the bottle it smelled very cherry like. Almost like cherry chapstick but complex. I have sampled the entire range from sospiro, not sure where they get their notes/oils from but it’s the most refined, CLEAR notes I’ve smelled in perfumery. I’m telling u... their fruity fragrances tho are NEXT LEVEL. You can almost taste it. Well done. This is gonna be a hit.

'Maraschino' was one I had high hopes for. Alas, it's not up to the usual Sospiro standards, IMHO. For me, it opened up like the smell of opening a cherry Kool-Aid packet. Tart, fruity & dry, hanging in the air for a moment. In about fifteen minutes, it was gone, to be replaced by pretty florals. Powdery, light & dry. Then in an hour, the base opened up to a very generic vanilla, tonka, amber, vetiver & musk. I don't know what I was expecting, but from the House of Sospiro & Christian Provenzano, I was expecting better. Don't blind buy this at $325. Get a 2ml spray sample, please. There are way better cherries out there.

Well it’s definitely not that cough syrup kind of cherry but for me the musk in here ruins it. It’s the same kind of musk that’s in Erba pura, kirke, etc. I can’t stand that type of musk but looking past that part I think this is still a nice cherry centered fragrance, although it’s not just cherry to me, I get a lot of peach too. I just can’t get passed the musk, it’s very strong in here and overtakes the fragrance on me so it’s a pass. Performance and projection are both good, I had to wash it off to get rid of it and it lingers on clothes for a long time.

It's like eating fruit ice in the summer, it melts and runs down your hands. There's no toilet nearby, and you walk around with sticky hands and can't wait to finally wash off this cloying syrup. Why is it worth so much money? Yes, the longevity and sillage are great, I agree. But I can easily imagine such a perfume in the Oriflame or Faberlic line for 20-30 EUR. I can't imagine it on a man (this is said by a fan of jasmine and violet). The sample goes to waste

After an initial blast of maraschino cherry, I'm disappointed to report that at least to my nose, the dry down is dominated by the other fruit notes - predominantly apple, but also peach and strawberry. The cherry note does not stick around. It's fresh and fruity, not overly sweet, but not at all what I was hoping for, based on the name.

Opening is divine!! Gorgeous punchy realistic cherry opening my only complaint is the opening doesnt last as long as I would like, the dry down on my skin is similar to erba pura, sospiro is a great house, looking forward to trying more in the brand, Provenzano is a really amazing perfumer

A foul, funky, floral, and synthetic as hell smelling version of a cherry scent. I love cherry scents and was hoping this would be another to add to the list for me. This is pushing into Versace Red Jeans territory of cheap, synthetic, and foul smelling.
