Prima Donna

My first impression of Prima Donna from smelling it up close on my skin was smoky leather. That smoky leather was so overwhelming and over the top that it was all I could get. No cherry, no mixed fruits, no chocolate, no greens, no sweetness... nada! Frankly, I’m not a fan of very leathery fragrances, so I moved on and didn't care about it. A few months passed, and I decided to give Prima Donna another try at the store and got a sample. When I wore it on my neck, I had a totally different experience: this time, I caught wafts of a beautiful sweet cherry note mixed with amber, resins, a little bit of chocolate and milky undertones, with the smoky leather still there and discernible but not as overpowering. So I’m guessing how you perceive Prima Donna could also depend on the distance you are smelling it from. It’s not mass appealing or a safe blind buy. The longevity and projection are impressive. I did two sprays of this the evening before, and I could still smell it on my skin the next morning. Upon a single spray from my vial, Prima Donna had my husband rushing into the room from across the house, asking me if I had over-sprayed, again. In my opinion, this is a unisex fragrance. However, if you perceive the smoky leather accord to be overpowering, then you might find this fragrance to be masculine-leaning. I find it to be more suited for the fall and winter seasons, but I think you can pull this off on cool spring and summer days as well. Update: This has really grown on me. It's grown, confident, sexy and seductive. Got a full bottle.

I got myself a Sospiro discovery set (the relaunched brand) and I am thoroughly impressed - all 10 samples are interesting, complex, with character. Not all of them my thing but none left me indifferent. This is a boss b*... fragrance. Indeed leather with dry cherry - as if someone spilled cherry liquor on leather and it has soaked through... It's a sharp opening and I guess not for those who dislike distinct leather note, but it is a statement maker. Also mellows out somewhat and other elements of composition start to come though, but the leather and the cherry are quite present for a while. I start feeling some more red fruits and perhaps some white floral, but very subtle in the background, and then warm amber... I do get warm amber and woods in the dry down. Feels appropriate for fall or winter. I picture business meetings and wearing a pantsuit. It is also rather for a mature woman, in her 30th or 40th not for a young girl. Not for everyone, and I note that all the perfums I have sampled are rather polarizing, and I get it. I only do not understand people that talk about "synthetic" or "cheap" cause none of Sospiros are that. You may love them or hate them but you can't can't say they smell cheap or synthetic. I guess you can't call this gentle or subtle or very feminine in a soft kind of way, will probably not gonna be your thing if you look for those qualities. She's a prima donna.

I picked this over a Merchant of Venice scent that I can’t recall the name of, due to its lasting power. It immediately captured my attention when it opened with a strong bitter chocolate note that quickly left its place to a very delicious spicy white floral blend without any overpowering sweetness. The leatheriness was noticeable all throughout the wear from the first spray to when it was time to take a shower. This is the type of perfume you cannot quite decipher the notes of as its so well blended and no single note stands out. It doesn’t try too hard to be anything. It doesn’t scream when you enter a room, nor does it fight for the attention it receives. If I were to describe it as a person, I’d say they're the mysterious and attractive stranger who looks polished, yet sophisticated and grounded. They read poetry but don’t talk about it; they listen intently but never speak out of turn - yet they intimidate you without trying, so you tend to watch your words around them as to not sound stupid. But if you ask them a personal question, they don’t lie or try to manipulate you into preserving their image, they simply give truthful yet diplomatic answers that leave you wondering if they really meant what you understood. It is a complex yet unsuspicious blend with a hint of mischief. 10/10 recommend if you wanna smell rich and authentic.

I have fallen in love head over heels for Prima Donna *•>( ◠‿◠ )<•* This is a soft yet complex fragrance that takes you on a ride where the fruits and the musks are in the background but never too far. The milky notes are also very present but what wows me the most is the leather and the cedar notes! Keep in mind, I struggle with leather-y notes but here, it is very well integrated and it smells absolutely DIVINE ✨✨✨ Prima Donna smells sweet, it is opulent, classy and discrete. It isn’t a bombshell smell that chokes those around you. It is done tastefully and blended perfectly. I think it is quite feminine (though a man can definitely rock it⚡️⚡️). Perfection in terms of: 1. Balance. Each note sings a note of its own without overpowering the other. It’s done really beautifully ✨ 2. Longevity 12+ hours on my skin and on clothes? Days!! Until I wash them, of course (^__^) 3. Unique-ness. I do not own anything like it in my collection. It’s a beautiful composition and though it has notes I am familiar with, this blend is very unique💛 I have to hunt down a full bottle now!! 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛

This scent is very classy, refined and regal. The dark chocolate is def there and dances nicely with the leather and musk all whilst twirling beautifully with the fruit accords. The cedar is there orchestrating the entire performance as well as the resinous amber accords. It is remarkably unique and the every so slightly animalic muskiness makes it mysterious and playful. This is a unisex scent but I think it leans a tiny bit more feminine. It is clean and a bit soapy, if I am being honest. But, I absolutely love that. It has some similarities to a couple of Xerjoff fragrances...like Symphonium and Pikovaya Dama had a love child...but better in my opinion. I got the sample when I purchased Vibrato and loved it so much I purchased the full bottle. Prima Donna isn't like every other scent you smell which all seem to be some variation of some other scent. This one is in a class all it's own. Try it out as it won't be everyone's cup of tea. For me, it is a hard love! It's as unique as they come and I adore that.
