Prima Donna

My first impression of Prima Donna from smelling it up close on my skin was smoky leather. That smoky leather was so overwhelming and over the top that it was all I could get. No cherry, no mixed fruits, no chocolate, no greens, no sweetness... nada! Frankly, I’m not a fan of very leathery fragrances, so I moved on and didn't care about it. A few months passed, and I decided to give Prima Donna another try at the store and got a sample. When I wore it on my neck, I had a totally different experience: this time, I caught wafts of a beautiful sweet cherry note mixed with amber, resins, a little bit of chocolate and milky undertones, with the smoky leather still there and discernible but not as overpowering. So I’m guessing how you perceive Prima Donna could also depend on the distance you are smelling it from. It’s not mass appealing or a safe blind buy. The longevity and projection are impressive. I did two sprays of this the evening before, and I could still smell it on my skin the next morning. Upon a single spray from my vial, Prima Donna had my husband rushing into the room from across the house, asking me if I had over-sprayed, again. In my opinion, this is a unisex fragrance. However, if you perceive the smoky leather accord to be overpowering, then you might find this fragrance to be masculine-leaning. I find it to be more suited for the fall and winter seasons, but I think you can pull this off on cool spring and summer days as well. Update: This has really grown on me. It's grown, confident, sexy and seductive. Got a full bottle.

I got myself a Sospiro discovery set (the relaunched brand) and I am thoroughly impressed - all 10 samples are interesting, complex, with character. Not all of them my thing but none left me indifferent. This is a boss b*... fragrance. Indeed leather with dry cherry - as if someone spilled cherry liquor on leather and it has soaked through... It's a sharp opening and I guess not for those who dislike distinct leather note, but it is a statement maker. Also mellows out somewhat and other elements of composition start to come though, but the leather and the cherry are quite present for a while. I start feeling some more red fruits and perhaps some white floral, but very subtle in the background, and then warm amber... I do get warm amber and woods in the dry down. Feels appropriate for fall or winter. I picture business meetings and wearing a pantsuit. It is also rather for a mature woman, in her 30th or 40th not for a young girl. Not for everyone, and I note that all the perfums I have sampled are rather polarizing, and I get it. I only do not understand people that talk about "synthetic" or "cheap" cause none of Sospiros are that. You may love them or hate them but you can't can't say they smell cheap or synthetic. I guess you can't call this gentle or subtle or very feminine in a soft kind of way, will probably not gonna be your thing if you look for those qualities. She's a prima donna.

I picked this over a Merchant of Venice scent that I can’t recall the name of, due to its lasting power. It immediately captured my attention when it opened with a strong bitter chocolate note that quickly left its place to a very delicious spicy white floral blend without any overpowering sweetness. The leatheriness was noticeable all throughout the wear from the first spray to when it was time to take a shower. This is the type of perfume you cannot quite decipher the notes of as its so well blended and no single note stands out. It doesn’t try too hard to be anything. It doesn’t scream when you enter a room, nor does it fight for the attention it receives. If I were to describe it as a person, I’d say they're the mysterious and attractive stranger who looks polished, yet sophisticated and grounded. They read poetry but don’t talk about it; they listen intently but never speak out of turn - yet they intimidate you without trying, so you tend to watch your words around them as to not sound stupid. But if you ask them a personal question, they don’t lie or try to manipulate you into preserving their image, they simply give truthful yet diplomatic answers that leave you wondering if they really meant what you understood. It is a complex yet unsuspicious blend with a hint of mischief. 10/10 recommend if you wanna smell rich and authentic.

I have fallen in love head over heels for Prima Donna *•>( ◠‿◠ )<•* This is a soft yet complex fragrance that takes you on a ride where the fruits and the musks are in the background but never too far. The milky notes are also very present but what wows me the most is the leather and the cedar notes! Keep in mind, I struggle with leather-y notes but here, it is very well integrated and it smells absolutely DIVINE ✨✨✨ Prima Donna smells sweet, it is opulent, classy and discrete. It isn’t a bombshell smell that chokes those around you. It is done tastefully and blended perfectly. I think it is quite feminine (though a man can definitely rock it⚡️⚡️). Perfection in terms of: 1. Balance. Each note sings a note of its own without overpowering the other. It’s done really beautifully ✨ 2. Longevity 12+ hours on my skin and on clothes? Days!! Until I wash them, of course (^__^) 3. Unique-ness. I do not own anything like it in my collection. It’s a beautiful composition and though it has notes I am familiar with, this blend is very unique💛 I have to hunt down a full bottle now!! 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛

This scent is very classy, refined and regal. The dark chocolate is def there and dances nicely with the leather and musk all whilst twirling beautifully with the fruit accords. The cedar is there orchestrating the entire performance as well as the resinous amber accords. It is remarkably unique and the every so slightly animalic muskiness makes it mysterious and playful. This is a unisex scent but I think it leans a tiny bit more feminine. It is clean and a bit soapy, if I am being honest. But, I absolutely love that. It has some similarities to a couple of Xerjoff fragrances...like Symphonium and Pikovaya Dama had a love child...but better in my opinion. I got the sample when I purchased Vibrato and loved it so much I purchased the full bottle. Prima Donna isn't like every other scent you smell which all seem to be some variation of some other scent. This one is in a class all it's own. Try it out as it won't be everyone's cup of tea. For me, it is a hard love! It's as unique as they come and I adore that.

Vocal virtuosity, emotional intensity: two indispensable attributes of the prima donna in opera. The most important character, often played by women who have become true pillars not only in the field of music, but also in society. Take Bizet's Carmen: bold, passionate, proud. Attacked by her freedom that she will never give up, preferring death. One of the portrayals I love most of this character is that of Maria Callas, who in my opinion also fully embodies this fragrance. The opening is sensual and strong at the same time: a carnal cherry, accompanied by leathery notes, which softens with milky, slightly gourmand and resinous notes. Also containing the note of sensuality par excellence: lily of the valley. For me it was love at first sight, this dual side of it makes it truly irresistible. It is on my wishlist. Excellent sillage and lasting, perfect for every occasion and season. No painting this time, but ‘l’ Amour est un oiseau rebelle' sung by Callas.

This is such a beautiful scent and what a journey. Opens up with a strong leather but then the cherry comes through and is just beautiful with the leather after a while this fragrance becomes cosy and creamy- I’m no perfume expert but I know quality and this fragrance is it, it has so many layers that after a few hours it smells completely different to when first sprayed, that leather note is so nice, and very smooth. If you can buy this for less than £150 it’s so worth it. This pairs exceptionally well with other cherry fragrances. I have been wearing this fragrance at least once per week since I’ve had it and it is seriously one of the best fragrances I own. As it’s matured it has become more creamy and laconic but totally beast mode lasting an incredible 24 plus hours on clothing. I’m totally in love with Sospiro and have quickly amassed 7 bottles. This perfume has it all, such a sleeper from the brand as it just does not get the hype it deserves.

An absolute pleasure and masterpiece to my nose! This one is so underrated, honestly. Leather but not the dirty, nasty kind. No, this is accompanied by fruits and florals and a subtle chocolate-y note that brings such an unexpected twist! The smokiness is there but it isn’t overwhelming to my nose. I just love this fragrance but of course, I do not recommend blind buying this one, on the contrary. This isn’t mass appealing at all and sampling it is an absolute must ✨

I love this perfume so much , bought a full bottle after sampling . This is going to be my signature scent, is lightly sweet floral in my nose , it smell like herb in the aromatic way .beautiful and long lasting.

Basically, this is a fruitier, lighter and more rounded tame version of Tom Fords Tuscan Leather. If you have ever smelled Tuscan leather (it available at every Sephora). TL is this dirty, ashtray like leather with sweet tone from raspberry. Its excellent but can only be worn in specific situations or moods. Tom Ford agreed and came out with Ombre leather, which toned down that dirty, ashy part of the leather. Instead of a leather jacket in a smoky pool hall, they gave you the leather interior of a Bentley. They also took away the raspberry and pulled back the overall forwardness of the leather. That’s why Ombre leather is so mass appealing and unisex. You can wear it every day. The leather in Prima Donna is somewhere between Ombre Leather and Tuscan leather. It has some of that dirty, bad boy ashtray note you find in Tuscan leather. Its definitely there, but not as strong as you would find in Tuscan Leather. Instead of raspberry, the leather is balanced with the same fruit accord you find in many of the new Sospiros. Opera, Erba Pura Magica, Maraschino ect. Specificly they used the cherry/fruit accord from Sospiro Maraschino (Nice Frag) and added 7/10th of the leather from Tuscan leather. The fruit and leather are perfectly balanced. Its done extremely well. The performance is very good. How much you like this will depend on how much you like Sospiros fruit medley accords. I don’t like fruit bowels in general. Even though I find Sospiros to be very good.

The opening is intensely leather but the dry down balances it out. I wish the chocolate and cherry notes stood out more though. I really disliked this at first but she's growing on me! 7+ hours later and shes just as strong. I'm impressed!

Oh miss Prima Donna- you are a rollercoaster. After putting some of the sample on a popsicle stick- I was able to get some cherry along with the punches of rose and general fruitiness. Then I put some on my wrist- and got mostly rose and leather, once it dries rose and leather take a backseat for cedar and musk to come up. I don't get chocolate at all when trying this. I do like this fragrance due to it's complexity, and the different notes being able to work with each other- but I would never spend almost $300 on a bottle.

I can't believe Prima Donna is rated higher on this site than Bel Canto. PD is leather and that is all I smell is a lot of leather. It seems to overpower everything. I was wearing Bond's Madison Avenue when I tried it, the scents actually layered well together. I think this will go to my BF or l will sell on the FB on one of the resale sites. I bought my bottle on one. I thought I selected Bel Canto and ended up with Prima Donna. Oh well, gotta do my part to keep the economy going. But that don't include keeping a scent that makes me smell like a leather jacket. It's just not my junt. It doesn't stink and it is complex but not my thing and I don't see it growing on me. Definitely do NOT blind buy and be aware is quite uni and while first l thought female leaning 3 hours later l say slightly male. Be careful with this one. Update: sooo, I lived with it the next day. I do smell the cherry and my dude likes it. It is not as bad as l originally opined. However, I will say this Mind Games French Defense does it better. I can see layering the 2 though may be to cut some of the sweetness in French Defense. For the money, this time it's Mind Games FTW.

Leather & resin...very basic. I do not get much else. Did not work for me. I'll try layering.

Really masculine and not getting much cherry

oh my god this is one of the biggest sleepers from sospiro. it changes in its lifespan in a way that tells u that it's almost confused on what kind of fragrance it's supposed to be, but now it's taking u on the journey to help discover what it truly is. i absolutely LOOOOVE THIS ONE, the opening is heavy on the cherry. not in the super sweet, candy-esque cherry like lost cherry, think more like the cherry from wet cherry liquor (i miss that one, why tf did i ever sell it). i've never been too accepting for cherry scents but this one is done great. the leather comes out almost immediately with the cherry, and after the opening blast like the first 10 mins, this becomes primarily dominant on the leather. that plays a ton with the other fruity notes in the background, i get a slight strawberry vibe too? im not sure about that one but that's not the point, because then this leans into the gourmand territory when the chocolate comes in to play. this is a similar chocolate accord that's used in resala, it sweetens up a dark composition in the same way and is a super yummy scent. super nice! for sure not mass appealing leather tho, the leather is similar to the ombre leather parfum category. i love it tbh!

Total “Señora de las lomas” perfume. Very demanding, beautiful, snooty and classist. Huge lavish house in lomas del pedregal, attended by 8 domestic employees who are terrified of her. She smokes nice skinny cigarettes during breakfast in her garden whilst reading the news paper. Smokes during brunch at a high tea French cafe in Masaryk whilst hardcore gossiping with her friends. And smokes during dinner at a new/old contempo Italian joint in zona Roma. Travels abroad 4 times a year because 8 times was too exhausting. She burns all of her used Chanel, fendi, Loewe bags and clothing she no longer wants because “antes muerta a que una naca use mis cosas”. Rude but fabulous. Smokey, boozy and slightly powdery; very classy. Only one dab and it lasts all day. Unisex but this is how I perceived it on me.

The name of this fragrance is unfortunate -- it almost forces its customer base to be devoid of males because what guy would want to own a cologne called "prima donna"? It's not even feminine-leaning -- Prima Donna is a leather fragrance, with the opening and mid consisting of what really amounts to a new car smell (new leather, new vinyl/plastic). I do get the fruity-floral notes, but they serve to soften the leather, not to stand out on their own. I absolutely love Sospiro and it is quickly becoming my favorite/signature fragrance house, but this particular one has me scratching my head. It's not off-putting by any means, but you need to know what you're getting out of it.

Stunning! Immediately went into my favourites. Leather is prominent here so if you don’t like leather just skip this one tbh. That said, the leather is very smooth and dry here. It’s almost reminiscent of old things, that is, a library, old books, old seats in a theatre. There’s a dustiness here. That is tempered down slightly by a lovely non medicinal cherry note, alongside some hints of soft white lilies and a bittersweet chocolate note. I can see why it’s fit for a prima donna. It’s nostalgic, layered, slightly unexpected. It plays with tenderness and with power, and it does it just so beautifully.

Ylang, & Chocolate.. This is like tropical Asian style floral with huge doses of humid, touch of milk, and all you can eat buffet of chocolates. It has humid jasmines, wet musky green leaves, dewy lily of the valley that i can barely detect, and big chunky dosage of wet ylang. the chocolate is hazy but you KNOW that it is there with warm yet cold milk touch. It is quite interesting to have this decent blend after a long disastrous releases although it is way too expensive for such blend. Nice.

Smoky, stinky leather note that I’m not into. I regret spraying this on me. If you like smoky, stinky leather then here ya go, this one’s for you. Unfortunately it also projects and lasts and even though I’ve sprayed stuff over it, this one prevails and projects over all the other ones I actually love. Go figure.

If I didn’t know there was chocolate in this I wouldn’t have had any idea...knowing it’s a note I still can’t pick it up lol. Getting leather and florals with a hint of I guess cherry since I see it listed. The leather here isn’t very smooth or suede-like. It’s too raw for my liking.

I am in love with this one! I blind-bought it after a review of the Sospiro discovery set by the Niche Fragrance Collector. Truly amazing!!! Prima Donna one is for a really confident woman, not everyone can pull this off, but if it is your style... then it is the perfect match!

This is a forever favorite together with La Capitale.This is not for the Bianco Latte or Kayali girls! Dark, Seductive, Confident, as the name suggest a Prima Donna.

This instantly makes me think of a dark purple, or dark blue velvet gown dress, evil queen, rich old woman, maleficent, something like that

MFK grand soir or mancera red tobacco but then someone added leather & florals into it like rose/jasmine
