Funfair

This one is an oddball, but likable. It opens as a creamy, almond-like scent and closes as a beach-like scent—not suntan lotion, mind you, but the smell of the actual beach, ozone, sand, saltwater, etc. I like it. It is very sweet in the beginning, but that goes completely away! Sweet to salty? It is in vogue now.....

Funfair is a experience in a bottle. Days spent at a carnival near the sea with the woody tones, sweet memories of the food midway where the smells all blended together. Its a fun ride into nostalgia that makes hearts warm to the simple pleasures in life growing up.

Sampled from indiescents.com This opened with a buttery, popcorn note that disappeared immediately. After that it became unpleasant - I had a hard time deciding what the notes were (the smell made me gag a bit), but I think it was the metallic and sea salt notes. I hate water/sea notes but was hoping they would disappear within the gourmand notes. They did not. As for the gourmand, I didn't get any cinnamon, caramel, or vanilla. Extremely disappointed in this one.

Hmm.. not really....... Sugar and pistachio with doses of cinnamon. Too much nuts is going on in here and it's not quite balanced. I had sort of high hope for this one, but i guess it's not what i thought it is. I'll be sampling it again and will see how it will go. Edit (16th Aug 2017) Oh my i got a disgusting note, i believe it's a metallic, saliva, sea salt, and seashells blended with pistachio, and few nuts! i just can't tolerate with it at the moment.

This is definitely not a blind buy. I ended up with a sample from indie scents and gave myself a generous spray. It open up to salty Burt butter popcorn on Coney Island on me. It was big and annoying. It couldn’t make it passed that washed it off. But it’s still there!

Sugar and spice and all things nice; that's what they say women are made of; and even though I can't possibly vouch for all women having inside knowledge, I can certainly vouch for Funfair. And the secret that makes this gourmand/Oriental (would that be gourmental ?!)so wearable is the spice. It keeps it sweet but not cloying as I find many of the kind to be. But, first things first. On application the sweet notes and Cinnamon burst free and delicious. I kept thinking that I knew this smell as it had a nutty character in its sweetness; and then I remembered that it smelt just like some homemade delicacies we eat in Greece made of sesame, sweet meats, Cinnamon, raisins and occasionally pastry. This phase lasts long and soon is paired with caramel and vanilla the latter adding a sensational smoothness to the composition. Fruit, wood and florals though not strong they provide a necessary platform for the main players to perform and add depth and variety preventing the sweet elements to monopolise the whole mix and also adding depth. I found Funfair very soothing with a sweetness that is appealing but not cavity inducing. Excellent blending of notes and quality ingredients provide here very good sillage and longevity especially on cloth. If you love gourmands this is an unmissable especially on cold weather as its sweetness and warmth radiates such comfort. Simply beautiful!
