Lisbon Blues

Now, this one is the worse of them all. This one has something in common with "Secretion magnifique" when it first sprayed on, and majorly like 90% similar to "Mercury" by Nu_be (now rename brand "One Of Those") with that sourness saliva like essence. It is quite chaos, it swings between animalic, to powdery, to citrucy. The notes mentioned above are all shown quite clear but in a very poor blending, it's just too much of everything. I really had high hopes for this collection as it said it has the beach kind of tan smelling etc but it doesn't as it's more sweaty and doesn't have that specific element that could hold it up and make it stood for itself... Anyway, i'm giving this another shot soon and let's see. Edit (16th Aug 2017) Sea salt metallic, too much animalic like a salt dried on bodies, sort of skunk, or maybe dirty body. I personally just hate salt on body specially sea salt when on beach. Really reminds me of "secretion magnifique" & "mercury".

I tried this fragrance twice, six months apart, on paper and both times I was appalled. I kept an open mind but really could not stomach the metallic note in it, which reminds me of Secretions Magnifiques.

Love, pure love! First I would like to thank Sven for his kind generosity. I never had a perfume from his brand before so I was curious, as for Miguel, well, the world, the Pope and recently the Dalai Lama know that we have similar tastes. So I was very intrigued and Lisbon Blues attracted my attention being the moody sort myself. I have never been to Lisbon but, due to personal circumstances I became acquainted with the Fado genre however I wanted to disengage myself from preconceptions and test the scent for its own value. And it didn't disappoint. On application the animalic notes together with aldehydes and the freshness from citrus burst free in a cloud of sparkly intoxication, almost bubbly, like a glass of champagne. The aldehydes here are superbly matched adding a fizzy aspect, light almost fluffy. Styrax to my nose resembles soft, dewy, smooth leather, I detected incense as well, smoky and spices. From then on the top notes, though they remain present, soften so as to allow the florals and woods to shine with just enough sweetness from the resins. And it continues to bloom in a heady well blended spicy unity that I found impossible to separate wrist from nose. Lisbon Blues to me stays true to its title. The sparkling city of Lisbon which opens up with its liveliness, sparkle and vibe and softens at dusk to let you in on its secrets, erotic, smoky, smouldering, yet smooth, velvety like the voice of Ana Moura, going straight to your heart, alluding to hidden desires, moments lost and regrets. There is an undeniable retro vibe going throughout this scent, with elements from classic vintages(many discontinued) worked carefully with quality ingredients in a modern, wearable way. Totally unisex with very good village and excellent longevity as it managed to stay on my skin 4+ hours, something that only my Arabic oils have achieved. This is a juice that deserves top place in anyone's wardrobe, especially those who appreciate strong, memorable classics. I hope this is the beginning for both Sven and Miguel of a further and equally successful collaboration. Bravo!

I am not a sophisticated nose, but my nose knows what it likes! Of the three (luscious) fragrances Fragrantica's own Miguel Matos collaborated on with Sven, Lisbon Blues is my favorite. Each one is wonderful! Funfair is Fun(buttery eats and sea salt tangy air!)and Suntan Glam (AKA Dirty Monoi) a suntan lovers dream come true. For favorite, my initial leaning toward Suntan Glam gave way, however, when I realized how delightfully Woody and unique a scent Lisbon Blues truly is. As is typical with me, I don't smell the exact note pyramid. My skin EATS animalics rather than projecting them, so it came as a bit of a surprise to see so much castoreum and civet listed! My volume of animalic scent would probably kill on first sniff - it would have to be THAT strong to come across as such on my skin. No complaints; this is beautiful whatever the notes. Memorable woody, resinous goodness is totally unisex - never leaning towards so pretty a scent a man would not find it inviting but easily wearable for a niche loving woman. Usually I can't wear pink pepper. And sure enough, the little pink fellow DID go a bit sour on me. (I know, because I tested it on a fellow enthusiast's skin and we both agreed it was more balanced and warm on her, lucky girl!) But once I got past that stage, Lisbon Blues lost the soured note and gave way to dry, smoked wood alongside comforting galbanum and cardamom. The best part? You are in for a DIVINE dry down! Cozy, cuddly amber, musk, and tonka are what I smell, which probably translates to the amber, cashmeran, and vanilla listed here. Lingering softly for hours.... Uniqueness, Strength, and Longevity = Excellent. Five Stars, Miguel!

Smooth, sophisticated, jazzy scent! Like Etta James songs, it has a worldly moodiness that smells like liquid soul. This has the feeling of a drop-dead gorgeous diva giving come hither looks in a popular piano bar. Instead of intimidating, she's approachable, which adds a "comfort scent" vibe to the glamour of its cosmopolitan air. To see what it felt like to me, I wore this for a day before reading about the notes and reviews. It kind of smells like those sensual 50's lipsticks when they were new. Rich, animalic, and creamy. Think Rita Hayworth wearing cheetah print and seamed stockings. Just opened potency, created to smell like luxurious pleasure. Good sillage and longevity.
