this is the all rounder version of altair, like with night on the nile it seems it’s like a flanker of althair, much more airy, green, but the core dna is very much there, it’s wearable all year round and i think it actually makes it better than althair i believe in the summer those fresher notes will appear more whilst in winter you will experience that same althair dna 8.5/10

Aquatic greenish althair. Does not smell the same. Brighter, fresher, aquatic. The two fragrances are not terribly similar, but there are overlaps. It grows on you. Alot.

I prefer this over the sickening Althair. This is smooth and airy. Way more tolerable with the sweetness and airier. I definitely enjoy this”recipe” way more! 🤍💯

this smells like le male le parfum but not as loud

The company markets their fragrances as original creations but this a dupe of Parfums de Marly Althair. Althair is a light airy vanilla and this fragrance is even lighter than that. It is a very beautiful scent but it's not a powerhouse performer. I received it about a week ago. I'll let it macerate and update my review in a few months

This fragrance is amazing, you get some hints of green and fresh notes, but up front you get a sweet mint and very light caramel. Just flat out stunning. If you like this fragrance, you’ll really like Mirabile by V Canto... they’re extremely similar

Supposedly a unisex perfume but to me this one leans more masculine. However, I’d definitely wear it. Very clean and woody. It’s blended so well that you really can’t pinpoint the individual citrus and floral notes.

With Cairo Nights, the theme shifts toward something more atmospheric, drawing inspiration from the energy and warmth of Egypt’s capital after dark, where the air is filled with a blend of spice, sweetness, and lingering heat. On paper, the composition reflects that setting, pairing bright citrus and florals with a rich gourmand base of caramel, vanilla, tonka, and amber, suggesting something that balances vibrancy with depth and indulgence with warmth. It sets the expectation for a fragrance that feels both lively and enveloping, capturing the contrast between movement and stillness that defines a city like Cairo at night. Let’s step into the night and see how this desert-lit composition unfolds once it meets the skin. Opening: The opening is sweet, spicy, and floral. The primary notes I get are caramel, vanilla, amber, and lily-of-the-valley, with the caramel and vanilla leading. The caramel starts the fragrance off with a rich, almost sticky sweetness that feels indulgent and firmly gourmand in nature, immediately setting a dense and inviting tone. The vanilla joins it at the top, reinforcing that sweetness but introducing a smoother, creamier texture that rounds everything out. Underneath, the amber works in tandem with the vanilla and tonka to create a warm, glowing, cinnamon-like spiciness that gives the opening a noticeable heat, even without a clearly defined spice note listed. Dry Down: The dry down is still sweet, spicy, and floral. The primary notes I get are caramel, vanilla, amber, and lily-of-the-valley, with the caramel and vanilla continuing to lead the composition. The overall structure remains very similar to the opening, making this a fairly linear fragrance with that same Althair-adjacent DNA carrying through. The caramel and vanilla maintain their rich, indulgent sweetness, while the amber continues to provide that warm, glowing, slightly spicy undertone that defines the core of the scent. The main shift comes from the lily-of-the-valley, which becomes a bit more noticeable in the earlier stages of the dry down, adding a fresh, airy floral contrast that slightly lifts the composition. As time goes on, around the seven to eight hour mark, those florals begin to fade out entirely, leaving behind a smoother, more focused base that leans fully into that familiar sweet, spicy vanilla profile. The result is a dry down that starts with a touch of added freshness before settling into a more direct expression of that core Althair DNA. Performance: The initial projection within the first hour is very strong and capable of filling a room, making an immediate and commanding presence. Sillage follows closely with a dense, heavy scent trail that carries the sweetness and warmth of the composition with ease. After about three to four hours, the projection begins to settle to around five to six feet, while the scent trail softens slightly but remains clearly noticeable. As it continues to wear, around the seven to eight hour mark, the projection draws in further to about three to four feet, and the scent trail becomes lighter but still present enough to be picked up in your wake. It eventually transitions into a skin scent around the nine to ten hour mark, maintaining a soft, sweet warmth up close. Overall, this delivers solid performance with a steady, gradual taper that fits well with its bold, gourmand profile. When to Wear: Cairo Nights fits best in the fall and winter, where its warmth and sweetness feel most appropriate and balanced by cooler air. It works comfortably in both daytime and evening settings, thanks in part to the subtle lift from the florals, which give it just enough brightness to avoid feeling overly heavy early on. It shines particularly well in more personal or social settings like date nights, where its sweetness and presence can come across as inviting and attention-grabbing. It can also work casually as a cozy, easy reach when you want something warm and comforting. That said, it does not quite align with more formal environments, and its strength and sweetness make it a poor fit for office wear. While it has a bit more flexibility than Althair due to that added freshness, it still occupies a very similar space in terms of overall wearability. Blind Buy: Cairo Nights is not a safe blind buy. It is a bold, sweet, and very present fragrance that leans heavily into that dense, gourmand profile, much like Althair. For those who already enjoy that style, especially fans of Althair, this will likely feel familiar and appealing. However, the addition of lily-of-the-valley introduces a more noticeable floral element than what you get from the orange blossom in Althair, which may not resonate with everyone. Because of its strength, sweetness, and slight shift in balance, this is something that should be tested on skin first to ensure it aligns with your personal taste. Final Verdict: Cairo Nights, at its core, feels like Sphinx Fragrances’ interpretation of Althair. The resemblance is immediate and unmistakable, with the same sweet, spicy vanilla DNA driving the entire experience. The added floral freshness does provide a small point of differentiation, but not enough to fully separate it from the comparison. That is not inherently a negative, as Althair is widely loved and known to perform well in social settings, but it does make it difficult for Cairo Nights to stand on its own. Performance is solid, but it does not clearly surpass either Althair or it's clone Liquid Brun, and when factoring in pricing, it ends up sitting in an awkward middle ground. For someone without those fragrances, it could still be a worthwhile option, but in my case, already owning both, there is little reason to reach for this instead. It smells very good, there is no denying that, but it struggles to carve out a distinct identity in a space that is already well occupied, and for that reason, it does not earn a place in my collection. My first impressions for you: it's been just under 1 hour since I sprayed it. Right from the start, I felt a mix of Le Male Le Parfum and Althair. After a few minutes, Le Male Le Parfum dissipated, leaving a combination of Azzaro The Most Wanted Parfum and Althair. I really liked! It reminds me of two perfumes that I really appreciate, and I believe it's worth the price. It's very nice and easy to use. I live in a hot region, and I think you can use it any night!

It seems, too often, people are comparing vanilla forward musky amber scents get compared to Althair and it’s really misleading. Those herbal citrus notes that sit at the first sniff steer this perfume on an entirely different path than Althair. This is nowhere as smooth and cozy as Althair - more like its gym bro cousin
