After about four to five hours, the projection remains impressive, still reaching out at least six feet, with the scent trail maintaining much of its original density and presence. As it progresses into the seven to eight hour range, the projection settles slightly to around five to six feet, while the scent trail softens but remains clearly noticeable. The fragrance continues to perform steadily until around the ten to twelve hour mark, where it transitions into a skin scent. Overall, this delivers exceptional performance with strong longevity and a consistent presence throughout its wear. When to Wear: Chocolate Citronique fits best in fall and winter, where its richness and density feel most appropriate and balanced by cooler temperatures. It works well in both daytime and evening settings, though it naturally leans more toward moments where its indulgent character can be appreciated. Blind Buy: Chocolate Citronique is not a safe blind buy. This is a fragrance that fully commits to its gourmand identity, and not everyone will be comfortable wearing something that smells so distinctly like a dessert. While there are other strong examples in this space, such as Chocolate Greedy with its darker cocoa profile, or Symphonium which layers chocolate with oud and spice, this fragrance takes a different approach. It leans fully into a milk chocolate and vanilla identity, creating something that feels smooth, rich, and completely immersive from start to finish. There is no attempt to pull away from that gourmand core, and that commitment is what makes it so compelling. The performance further reinforces its appeal, delivering strong longevity and projection that allow the scent to fully develop over time. For me, this is exactly what I would want from a chocolate-focused fragrance, and while it may not be for everyone, it is one that I can genuinely see earning a place in my collection when the time is right. This smells great. Similar to Xerjoff Symphonium, Alexandria Fragrance Cacao Dreams, Hermetica Sandalsun, and Montale Chocolate Greedy. Starts off smelling like Symphonium. However the chocolate/orange (think Terry’s Chocolate Orange) opening is very short lived. Within a few minutes it transitions to a tootsy roll scent (with a creamy hazelnut note dominating). It’s linear after that. If you like gourmands this is a safe buy. Performance is good and sillage sits close to the skin.

Usually I don't like chocolate fragrances. Not chocolate heavy, but as a supporting not I can do it. This one surprised me. At first spray, I was pretty sure I didn't like it. Too chocolatey, too artificial...but then the orange and vanilla started shining through. I had to double check the notes because there's something white floral about it to my nose. I could almost swear there was jasmine in it, but there isn't. I really like this. ❤️

This reminds me of a tootsie roll and I adore it! The longevity of this is much better than what I’m reading in these reviews, but I also applied it right after a shower onto a layer of Vaseline, so that might be helping. 4 hours so far and still just as strong as when I first applied it.

This is a gourmand lover's dream. I received a sample of this fragrance and immediately ordered a full bottle. It's complexity makes this stand out over other chocolate fragrances. If you don't like overly sweet or baked good perfumes than stay away but this is a live for me.

I wore this to work the other day and every one of my coworkers asked what I was wearing and where they could find it. Diffinitely reccomend to gourmand lovers.

This is good, nice gourmand - biscuits, cocoa powder, milky cheese and chocolate - orange candy (the chewy type), hazelnut. More or less in such order. It has nothing off putting about it (unlike Symphonium, which is a horrendous "chocolate orange" scent from Xerjoff...), juost a lovely gourmant scent which all notes identifiable. It does indeed remind me of Chocolate Greedy by Montale, mostly because of buscuit aspect and the fact that chocolate is not overpowering, but this one has more clear orange note and is clearly blended into the this chocolate orange fudge candy or biscuit. However, the performance of this one is the weakest aspect, but it might be refreshing to enjoy such well blended scent without it being too much in your face.

I received a sample of this from the company when I purchased a full bottle of another fragrance. Listen, chocolate lovers. This fragrance is for you. First spray is a blast of sweet chocolate. It smells just like hot cocoa with a splash of orange extract. It's sweet and creamy. The cocoa stands out more than the nutty or citrus notes.

This is one of the weakest performing fragrances that I've ever put my nose on. Definitely not even close to an Extrait (I think Sphinx frags are all extraits). If I could smell this for longer than 5 minutes, I'd really enjoy it bc it DOES smell good for all of 5 minutes. 😕

It smells just like those chocolate orange treats! It’s a unique gourmand scent, not overtly sweet and the cacao and citrus notes really jump out at you. I just wish it had more projection.

This is a nice enough fragrance, don't get me wrong. I love many of Sphinx's other offerings and I feel as though this one is simply okay. The opening, reminiscent of Terry’s Chocolate Orange, only hangs around for a short while. Then, it transitions into a very familiar, powdery chocolate. Chocolate Greedy and Choco Musk come to mind. I've smelled this same sort of Nesquik chocolate powder fragrance so, so many times before, and at much cheaper price points. Lasting power wasn't as great as some of Sphinx's other offerings. For reference, I received a sample of Mangolicious Hibistorm and this one in my order of Creme de Pistache. I have 80% left of my Mangolicious sample, despite wearing it several times already, while I've blown through the entire 2ml of Chocolate Citronique very quickly because over spraying it was the best way to get it to really perform well on my skin. I get Choco Musk oil for under $5, which gives me a fix for this sort of very linear and dare I say generic powdered chocolate scent. The orange in this really gives it a flair of uniqueness, I'll give it that, but it is so short lived. You will smell delicious if you wear this, because this is a delicious chocolate fragrance, but what I'm trying to say is that it's not unique enough to warrant the higher price tag. There are some really great chocolate cheapies and lower priced options that are of a similar vein. Once the orange dissipates and all you're left with is chocolate, it loses its uniqueness and just becomes another chocolate scent on dry down.

To start off, I am a chocolate perfume lover. I have several chocolate fragrances in my collection that all have a unique quality. With this fragrance, the first note I get when sprayed is orange. A very strong orange with chocolate in the background. I would not call this a chocolate focused fragrance due to the intensity of the orange. When I saw that it was going to have citrus in it I expected it to be similar to Chocolate Greedy, but it is not. It is in it's own lane with that orange being a very dominant note. This smells like one of those chocolate orange candies that is in the shape of an orange, and is a mix of orange liquor and chocolate. With this, once the fragrance starts to dry down the orange calms down, and the chocolate come forward, but still giving a fair balance of both notes. For me it is not a love at 1st sniff, but more of a get to know you over time. I have tried 2 other fragrances from this brand, and both smelled like they were more of a candle scent than a perfume. This borders in between, having that candle scent vibe and also being wearable. I am going to let this fragrance sit for awhile to see if the other notes such as the base notes come forward more. Overall, this is the 1st fragrance I purchased from Sphinx that I will be wearing. The other 2 for me were complete let downs. So I am happy with this purchase.

This is a package of Swiss Miss hot chocolate in a paper bag, very powdery. This has a dry chocolate note that smells synthetic. The dry drown is very good, it smelled like a sweet almond chocolate cookie. Longevity is between moderate and poor. Projection and Silage was moderate. While out on vacation in a casino I kept getting whiffs of the perfume which is always a feature that I like. I still did not get any orange but that just could be my body chemistry. I wore my entire travel spray in two days so I had to over spray this to get the moderate performance. This is a pleasant scent, but I prefer my chocolate scents to be creamier. This does not wear heavy and could be worn year round. I did enjoy the toasted hazelnut and biscuit notes. I feel that the positives and negatives even out and that overall this perfume is okay. I also have a personal preference for creamy chocolate scents. 5/10

A TERRY'S Dark Chocolate Orange exactly 🍊🍫 for maybe 30 min, sadly. I can't budget respraying incessantly.

This is the only chocolate that smells OK to me, others just don’t smell good to me

To me this is liquid tootsie roll. I received as a sample in my order. I didn’t wash it off but I would not wear this normally. The hazelnut for me stands out and I don’t love that note.

My partner said it smells like a graham cracker or gingerbread cookie. I agree. For me, it was pretty spicy. It also made me sneeze when trying it, which usually means I'm sensitive to the fragrance. It's a decent chocolate fragrance, but not for me. It's complex and incense like, not milky chocolate. I'd put this in unisex territory. And it's a more mature scent. Sphinx was kind enough to gift me two travel size bottles of their strawberry fragrances since I wasn't happy with the chocolate. Thought that was very generous of them!!

This fragrance is EXTREMELY gourmand to the point where is seems unbearable. It just smell straight up like a biscuit covered in chocolate, caramel,nuts, and orange. Even though at first I thought it was unbearable the drydown was much more tame and I feel it could possibly be attractive because people will be intrigued or want to eat you.

This reminds me of Aquolina's Chocolovers, which I adore, but can no longer find. The problem is what other reviewers have stated--this fragrance lasts on your skin for 30 seconds and disappears. It is way too expensive for what it is.

Opening smells like a straight up chocolate orange, as it dries down the orange fades and it’s more of a vaguely citrusy cocoa. Very nice!

Smells like a chocolate wafer to me but I think it's the biscuit note doing that. It's quite nice.
