Emerald Mirage

Apr 21: I got a sample of this. Its really strong the first 5 minutes then settles down into what I smell is a sugary almost sweet limey scent which doesnt make sense but the only thing I can compare it to is Aquatica and how it has a sugary lime snell.. its like that but toned down. Maybe thats just the banana.. Who knows lol. Its ever so slightly powdery. It has a good smell. I really enjoy it honestly and im buying a full bottle. It'll be great for the summer. I picture myself on vacation with a fruity drink/cocktail in hand, sand beneath me and waves crashing. I think this will perform great in high heat and im expecting the sweat to kinda reactivate it.. cause after about 20 min it stops projecting as much.. not bad though. But in the summer heat and all sweaty I feel like itll do really well. Im sure on clothes it lasts a lifetime. People say spring but id never wear this in the spring. This to me is strictly a warmer weather scent and that to me is gonna be in the summer. Update - May 15: purchased a bottle. It smells even better than the sample. Really good stuff. This cracks top 10 of my all time favorite fragrances that I own and I have quite a bit. Everything I said still stands with the exception that it does last decently longer than expected. I feel like its okay to overspray this one a bit, I do about 6-8 between skin and clothes and it lasts about a good 7 hours.. it doesnt create a huge scent bubble but for anyone getting closer to you after about 3 or 4 hours theyll smell you.. or when that wind hits just right itll blow that smell on over to the next person. Works well in high heat and the warmth and sweat on skin do reactive it a bit. Truly a beautiful fragrance for Summer.. you can wear it for a day date, the beach, early afternoon dinners by the water on vacation. Its very good.

I ordered the Egyptian sugar and i LOOOVE it, and they sent me a sample of this scent! This reminds me of Las Vegas hotels (if you know you know), and it brings back good memories from my vacations when i was there. I think it’s a unisex fragrance, and i think this is gonna be my next purchase! i want it rn!!!

Summer fruit bomb. Smells great. Good longevity and Sillage! received a sample for f this with my last purchase. This smells absolutely AMAZING! It’s fresh and fruity. I will definitely be purchasing this in the future. It’s unisex too.

Broken noses scored this fragrance low, it’s beautiful. A candy tropical fruity fragrance with a nice amber touch on the dry down. I haven’t smelled a miss from the house yet. YouTube: Sirgarythe1st

Up for review today is Emerald Mirage from Sphinx Fragrances. Yesterday's wear, Sphinx Elixir, turned out to be an unexpectedly dark and animalic fragrance that scored a perfect 10/10 from me. That's a tough act to follow, so Emerald Mirage better bring its A game. Sphinx Fragrances has been pretty on point with their naming conventions, so with a name like Emerald Mirage, I'm expecting something very green and fresh. Let's get into it and see what we're working with. Scent: The opening is sweet, fruity, and floral. The primary notes I get are passionfruit, strawberry, nectarine, and orange. The strongest of the notes are the passionfruit and strawberry. The passionfruit is what stands out the most to me in the opening, with a sweet and tangy fruity profile. It is reminiscent of the passionfruit note I get from Maison Crivelli's Oud Maracuja, but lighter. The strawberry comes in behind the passionfruit to add more fruity sweetness, but is distinguishable from the passionfruit by its familiar strawberry accord. It's also accompanied by a marked green, almost dusty accord as well, like the stems or leaves on a strawberry. Up next is the nectarine and orange. The nectarine adds, you guessed it, more fruitiness but with a distinctly floral and almost honeyed undertone. Lastly, the orange adds some juicy and tangy citrus in the background as a supporting note. The dry down is sweet, fruity, and balsamic. The primary notes I get are passionfruit, strawberry, vanillin, and amber. The strongest of the notes are still the passionfruit and strawberry. Both notes are very similar to how they came across in the opening; fruity and sweet with that same accompanying green dustiness from the strawberry. They do somehow feel "fuller" though. This is followed by the vanillin and amber. The vanillin gives the dry down a, well, vanilla accord. It's sweet and creamy, but being that it's an aroma-chemical, it's not a photorealistic type of vanilla accord, but it isn't overly synthetic either. Lastly, the amber gives the dry down a bed of warm, rich, balsamic sweetness for the other notes to rest upon. There's also a bit of supporting freshness from the musk, as well. Performance: Initial projection within the first hour is very strong and can easily fill a room. Sillage matches that intensity with a sweet, heavy scent trail. After about 4 hours, the projection was still at least 6 feet and the scent trail, while lighter, was still easily noticeable. At around the 7-hour mark, the projection was around 3-4 feet and the scent trail had grown a bit lighter but was still noticeable. The fragrance became a skin scent around the 9-10 hour mark. When to wear: Emerald Mirage is what I would consider a spring/summer fragrance that's suitable for both daytime and evening wear. The intense fruitiness of the fragrance lends itself well to the warmer months, but the sweetness, particularly in the dry down, is a good fit for evenings. This is definitely a casual-wear fragrance, and would pair well with shorts and t-shirts, or perhaps a casual date. I wouldn't wear it for anything formal or to the office. Blind buy: There's nothing in my collection that I can adequately compare this to. However, if you're familiar with Oud Maracuja, take the oud out and leave only the fruity sweetness, and that's basically what you have here. If that sounds good to you, or if you're just a fan of fruity and sweet fragrances in general, this is probably a safe blind buy for you. Final verdict: I went into this fragrance expecting something fresh and green, and boy, were my expectations shattered. An enormously sweet fruit bomb is what I got instead. Now, there's nothing inherently wrong with that; fruity fragrances can be very nice, but they're typically a bit too feminine-leaning for me, and unfortunately, that was the case with Emerald Mirage. The fruit in this fragrance is so dominant, it doesn't leave much room for any of the other notes. Performance, as I've come to expect with Sphinx Fragrances, was respectable. Massive projection and sillage for the first few hours, then slowly tapering off to a skin scent at around the 9-10 hour mark. Versatility for fragrances like Emerald Mirage is limited. It's sweet and fruity, so it's mostly relegated to being a casual, warm weather fragrance. It has enough versatility to be worn during the day or evening, though. Mass-appealing could be a term used to describe this fragrance. There's nothing inherently challenging about it, and most people enjoy sweet and fruity accords, meaning it will most likely get compliments when worn. To wrap this up, I feel Emerald Mirage continued the trend of well-made fragrance from Sphinx, but it's just too feminine for me, and as such, is not something I will be adding to my collection. However, for what it's worth, my wife loved it and said she would absolutely wear it. Scent: 7/10 Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 8/10
