Oceanic Symphony

Today I'm continuing my journey with the house of Sphinx Fragrances and taking a look at Oceanic Symphony. The bottle itself is rather unassuming and doesn't give an "on the water" vibe, but the name certainly does. So, based solely on the name, I'm expecting a fresh and aquatic experience. Let's get into it and find out what we're working with. Scent: The opening is citrusy, fresh, and aquatic. The primary notes I get are orange, salt, musk, and ambergris. The strongest of the notes are the orange and salt. The orange starts off the fragrance with a blast of fruity, citrusy orange accord. It's a very realistic depiction of orange, sweet and juicy, and reminds me of the orange note used in Louis Vuitton's Afternoon Swim. Situated a fair distance behind the orange is the salt, giving the fragrance a fresh and, well, salty vibe. Up next is the musk and ambergris. The musk is what I interpret as a white musk accord; fresh and airy. Not quite as "fresh laundry" as white musk can get, but approaching it. Lastly, the ambergris lingers in the background to give the opening a sensual, skin-like warmth coupled with an aquatic undertone. The ambergris and salt together do give the opening a distinctly oceanic tone, again reminiscent of what I find in Afternoon Swim or even Light Blue Eau Intense. The dry down is still citrusy, aquatic, and fresh. The primary notes I get are orange, lemon, ambergris, and salt. The strongest of the notes are the ambergris and salt. As they did in the opening, both the notes meld together to create a fresh, ocean water note. However, they are boosted into the spotlight in the dry down to provide a more intense version of it. This is followed by the orange and lemon. The orange still gives the same juicy, fruity accord from the opening, but it is joined in equal part by the lemon note, giving the dry down a sharp and zesty citric accord. As opposed to the opening that reminded me of Afternoon Swim, the dry down is much more similar to Light Blue Eau Intense. Performance: The initial projection is very strong and can fill a room. Sillage matches that strength with an intense scent trail. After a few hours, the projection was still at least 6 feet, and the scent trail was a bit lighter but still easily noticeable. At the 7-8 hour mark, the projection was about 3-4 feet, and the scent trail was lighter, but still noticeable. The fragrance held on until about the 10-hour mark when it became a skin scent. When to wear: Oceanic Symphony, as you may have expected, is a spring/summer fragrance made to be worn in the daytime. This fragrance gives off very casual vibes and would work perfectly as an accessory to shorts and a t-shirt. For that same reason, this is not what I would wear for special/formal occasions or to the office. It would work great as a gym fragrance, though. Blind buy: If you like fresh and aquatic fragrances like Afternoon Swim or Light Blue Eau Intense, Oceanic Symphony is a safe blind buy for you. Final verdict: Oceanic Symphony turned out to be what I can best describe as the child of Afternoon Swim and Light Blue Eau Intense. It started out very citrus forward with the orange note, then true to its name, it got more and more oceanic over time. When it comes to aquatic scent profiles, this is how I feel they should be done. Performance was surprisingly strong for such a fresh fragrance; very strong projection and sillage for the first few hours, and lasting until around the 10-hour mark before becoming a skin scent. Versatility is limited for a fragrance like Oceanic Symphony. It's great for casual wear during the warmer months, or to wear to the gym, but that's about it. Mass appeal, however, ranks high as most people enjoy fresh and invigorating scent profiles like this. In conclusion, of the Sphinx Fragrances I've reviewed so far, Oceanic Symphony is by far my favorite. Afternoon Swim and Light Blue Eau Intense are some of my favorite fragrances, and while I would never have thought to put them together, Sphinx Fragrances did a beautiful job making that happen. Since I already have both of them, though, it would be redundant for me to purchase this. However, if I didn't, I would absolutely be adding this to my collection. If you need a good "freshie" for the summer months, definitely check this one out. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 8/10 Sillage: 9/10

I mean, it's probably okay to compare it to Vibrato. This is, in no way, redundant with the latter. Salt, oceanic, definitely masculine, and easier to pull off in hotter weather, this fragrance is definitely one that garners the compliments from guys and girls. Please, don't take offense, but it would smell weird on a girl. Performance is pretty good ~7-8h mark with great projection in the first 1-2 hours and moderate scent bubble all around for the remaining of its life on skin. Like I've said before, this fragrance is super pleasant to pretty much anyone around me. A friend even bought it after smelling on me. As an extrait, however, I expected it to stay heavier on the skin up close, but will wear easily as a signature in any occasion (dressed up or down). Price of ~$100 is what I'd go for, while I paid a little over $95. The house is pretty under the radar, and if I were to pick any other fragrances from them, I'd go with Black Anubis and Cairo Nights, in that order, with OS being the best from the house.

This right here is in my Top 2 favorite fragrance out of my current collection and out of all the fragrances I’ve sampled as well. If I didn’t want to use all of my perfume up I would wear it everyday. This is my signature scent!! If you’re a fan of aquatic, oceanic, fresh but last long type of fragrances. You have to try this. The amount of compliments I get when I wear this is crazy. I’m a gym head and most of my fragrances are worn to the gym, except any overly strong, date night type of fragrances. Two women complimented me at the same time and wanted the name of it. (I’m a female btw) nowhere near girly and I’m fit (pretty muscular 💪🏽) . So my go to fragrances are Unisex for the most part. Both men and woman can rock this for sure.

Oceanic Symphony is a vibrant aquatic citrus fragrance that blends juicy orange, salty marine notes, airy musk, and smooth ambergris into a refreshing ocean-inspired experience. It opens bright and energetic, then evolves into a deeper salty-ambergris accord reminiscent of ocean air and sea water. Performance is impressive for a fresh scent, projecting strongly with noticeable sillage and lasting around 10 hours. Best suited for spring and summer daytime wear, casual outings, and the gym. If you enjoy fragrances like Afternoon Swim and Light Blue Eau Intense, Oceanic Symphony is an easy recommendation and one of Sphinx Fragrances’ standout fresh releases.

This is so good. I think the name encapsulates this scent perfect. A beautiful aquatic symphony that doesn't feel dated and is quite unique. You get the burst of citrus and the saltiness of the ocean grounded in ambergris for depth. It's the kind of clean feeling scent that doesn't fade into the background but rather leaps into the forefront. To my nose, it leans masculine but I think it can easily be unisex.
