Vanilla Azure

This is the best sphynx release besides MAYBE black Anubis, its also #2 in my collection currently, its a really good fragrance, unisex but opens leaning feminine. Its just masculine enough to not be a feminine scent. Its not the most complex fragrance but its got some character to it, haven't really smelled anything that's actually that close to it aside from angels share, besides that this is definitely a safe buy, If you aren't sure youll like it get a tester but I would say at least for me this is right under blind buy, something like smelling it on an acquaintance and pulling the trigger after asking what it is. It opens up with a prominent toffee note and milk, after about 10 minutes you really get a good whiff of the coconut with subtle musk and praline, at this point the toffee starts becoming a little boozy. A while later you start getting that oud and tonka, and around 6 hours later it'll have dried down to projecting a good mix of the base notes maybe 5 inches from the skin. Scent: 10/10 excellent date night fragrance only topped in my collection by hypnotizing fire Sillage & Longevity: 10/10 (If your dates outlast this fragrance you're doing something wrong) 3+ feet for about 2 hrs 1+ feet 2-4 hrs after that, <1 foot for another 3-4 hrs The bottle: 7/10 doesn't have the pressurized sprayer and I've seen a complaint or two about a leaky bottle on other sphynx fragrances but a nice heavy cap Overall value: 9/10 a no brainer date night fragrance and doesn't smell out of place when its warmer out

opens with sweet vanilla and a caramel-y note upon first spray for me, on the test strip it stays subtly sweet and heady, but with hints of licorice and something slightly acidic. on my skin (wrists), the acidity intensifies. smells like eating warm pastries filled with vanilla custard somewhere on a stone balcony by the mediterranean sea, shadowed by ivy, with the scent of lemon trees hanging in the air. a few minutes after spraying it on my neck, i get a whiff of tonka bean upon tilting my head down, mixed now with definite marshmallow notes. on my wrists though, it stays acidic and quite lactonic also, a private, domestic, natural scent (i do think of a mother breastfeeding her baby). i also get a bit of leather there, like taking off a leather wristband after a night out, when the leather's warm and soft and a bit sweaty and still smells like the sweetness of the seaside cocktail bar. yum. occasionally, i get hints of something alcoholic when smelling the scent on the paper strip, like a sweet, rich, milky cocktail with rum in it. definitely a multifaceted, really yummy scent.

Khamrah, but make it niche. This is like Lattafa Khamrah / Khamrah Qahwa, but less sweet and with a more prominent coconut, musk, & wood/oud note. I would say this is the most unisex out of the 3, as it's less dessert-like and Christmas-y than the others. I can also see a little similarity to Angel's Share in this one too (more than I ever could with either of the Khamrahs), but it's by no means a dupe. For me, this scent is like the elevated mix of Khamrah & Angel's Share that works for warmer weather, preferably for a night out. I personally really like this, and I also really like the Khamrahs and Angel's Share too. Even tho this is very similar to the Khamrahs, I will still hold onto this one bc I got it for a great deal (less than 50% of normal price), and it's different enough for me to have all 3. But if you're getting it normally and already have the Khamrahs, I would say to try to get a sample of this first before committing to a whole bottle. It might not be different enough for you. Performance is great -- about the same, if not a little better, than the Khamrahs.

I see some of the reviews trying to compare this to Khamrah and though it may have a slight similarity to Khamrah at very first sniff, it immediately dry downs closer to Kayali's Vanilla Oud. Where Khamrah has a more boozy, syrupy vibe to it, this is a softer vanilla where the marshmallow and milk take center stage. To my nose, the woody notes are faint and a bit in the background. This is an easy to wear vanilla that I know will also be great to layer with.

I was gifted a decant of this to try by a friend and I picked a cold winters night for it - it suited perfectly. There’s a lot going on with this fragrance and a lot of notes battling for supremacy but the boozy vanilla seems to come out on top. It’s almost like a powdery boozy vanilla bomb even though powder isn’t a note. I like it - perfect for a night curled up in front of a fire with a good book or a pub with a real fireplace and a baileys with ice. I’d definitely consider this is a bigger size

This smells nothing like the original Khamrah. It’s definitely very similar to vanilla oud by Kayali. Smells awesome!

Very interesting take on expensive unisex and complex vanilla. A lot of notes and complexity, it smells luxurious to the point it leans somewhat mature. It is lovely for a night at some classy event, like concert or theatre (please don't judge). I would say for me it is too unisex and mature/expensive, thus not keeping the bottle anymore.

Doesn't smell like khamrah to me at all. On my skin all I can smell is the tuberose and ylag ylang and maybe a hint of nutmeg. Doesn't smell bad just not what I like to wear probably just my skin chemistry

On my skin this is not Khamrah, this is a strong incensey gasoline fragrance, more like Rifaqaat to my nose. Not sweet at all and definitely masculine leaning.

Literally all I smell is sweet Oud here. What a kitchen sink of notes that in the end just fall flat on their face. 😅

At the same time, the presence of oud, myrrh, and warm spices hints at a deeper structure beneath that sweetness, giving it the potential to evolve beyond a simple dessert-like fragrance. It feels like a composition that aims to balance comfort with complexity, taking a familiar gourmand direction and adding just enough dimension to keep it interesting. Let’s dive in and see how this creamy composition unfolds once it meets the skin. Opening: The opening is sweet, fruity, and boozy. The primary notes I get are vanilla, dates, rum, and milk, with the vanilla and dates leading. True to the name, the vanilla is the first thing that comes through, delivering a familiar creamy sweetness that immediately sets a gourmand tone. The dates follow closely behind, bringing a dense, syrupy fruitiness that feels rich and slightly sticky, very reminiscent of the dates note found in The One Luminous Night by Dolce & Gabbana. The rum sits just beneath, adding a subtle boozy warmth with a faint alcoholic edge that gives the opening a bit more depth and maturity. Lastly, the milk rounds everything out with a smooth, lactonic quality, giving the composition a soft, creamy texture that helps blend the sweetness together rather than adding weight to it. Supporting this core, there are touches of marshmallow adding extra sugary softness, cinnamon contributing a gentle warmth, and toffee and praline reinforcing that caramelized sweetness. There is even the faintest hint of oud in the background, introducing a trace of animalic woodiness that adds depth without disrupting the overall smoothness. The result is a rich, edible opening that leans fully into its gourmand identity while maintaining a sense of warmth and dimension. Dry Down: The dry down is sweet, powdery, and balsamic. The primary notes I get are vanilla, tonka bean, toffee, and benzoin, with the vanilla and toffee leading. The vanilla remains the dominant force, carrying over that same creamy, sweet profile from the opening, but now feeling more settled and cohesive. The tonka bean emerges clearly, adding a warm, slightly nutty sweetness with a pronounced powdery texture that helps to temper and balance the richness of the vanilla. The toffee grows in prominence as well, moving out of the background and introducing a deeper, caramelized sweetness that calls to mind the toffee note in Armani's Stronger With You Intensely, adding both density and familiarity. The benzoin rounds out the composition with a smooth, resinous warmth, giving the dry down a glowing, ambery quality similar to what you’d find in MFK's Grand Soir. In the background, there are subtle woody nuances from the mahogany and oud, with the mahogany providing a polished, slightly refined woodiness, and the oud contributing a darker, more grounded earthiness. The result is a warm, enveloping dry down that leans into a refined, powdery vanilla sweetness supported by resinous and woody depth. Performance: Projection in the opening is very strong and easily capable of filling a small room, giving the fragrance an immediate and noticeable presence. Sillage follows closely with a dense, heavy scent trail that carries the sweet, gourmand profile effectively. After about four hours, the projection remains strong, still reaching out to around six feet, while the scent trail softens slightly but remains clearly noticeable. As the fragrance continues to develop into the seven to eight hour range, the projection begins to settle to around three feet, and the scent trail becomes lighter but still present enough to be picked up in your wake. It transitions into a skin scent at around the ten hour mark, maintaining a soft, sweet warmth up close. Overall, this is a solid performer with respectable longevity and a steady, gradual taper that suits its rich profile. When to Wear: Vanilla Azure fits best in fall and winter, where its warmth and sweetness feel most natural and balanced. It works comfortably in both daytime and evening settings, offering enough softness to be worn casually while still having enough presence to hold its own in more intentional moments. It shines particularly well in settings like date nights, where its cozy, inviting sweetness can come across as approachable and appealing, but it is just as easy to reach for in more relaxed situations when you want something comforting and familiar. That said, it does not align well with more formal environments, and its sweetness and density make it unsuitable for office wear. Blind Buy: For those who enjoy vanilla-centric fragrances, Vanilla Azure leans toward being a relatively safe blind buy. The vanilla remains the focal point throughout the entire wear, supported by other familiar and widely appealing notes that keep the composition approachable. Even elements that could be more polarizing on paper, such as milk or oud, are blended in a way that keeps them subtle and easy to wear rather than challenging. However, for those who are not already comfortable with this style of fragrance, or who are looking for something more distinctive, sampling is still the safest route to ensure it aligns with personal preference. Final Verdict: Vanilla Azure ultimately lands as a very safe and easy-to-wear interpretation of a vanilla fragrance. It introduces a few interesting nuances through notes like dates, marshmallow, and a restrained touch of oud, but it never strays far from its core identity. For many, that consistency will be a strength, offering a dependable and comforting vanilla experience from start to finish. For me, however, it highlights the challenge of standing out within such a saturated category. Having experienced a wide range of vanilla-focused fragrances, I find myself looking for something that pushes the profile in a more distinctive or memorable direction. While this is undoubtedly a well-composed and enjoyable scent, it does not quite reach that level of uniqueness for my taste. It is a fragrance I can appreciate for its smoothness and wearability, but not one I feel compelled to add to my collection. That said, for those who are drawn to vanilla and want something approachable with solid performance, it is certainly worth experiencing. I don't have the original kamrah but I do have kamrah quahwa-- and it's the first thing I thought about when I sprayed this, so definitely some similarities there. However, I find that this dries down a little less spicy and more creamy.. and just feels like something you could wear all year instead of just the colder months. I like it.. but don't know if i need it since I have kamrah quahwa.

I've had high hopes for sphinx fragrances, I've bought both horchata de Vanille and creme de pistache and was so disappointed both have been spicy cinnamon bombs. I see this one has cinnamon in the base notes and I'm almost certain that it will be a dominant note. I will wait for reviews before I buy this. Been burned twice now.

Received this as a sample and Im not a fan of vanilla forward fragrances BUT THIS IS THE EXCEPTION TO THE RULE... I was blown away by the sweet slightly gourmandy scent it was love at first sniff and layers well with a lot of my frags especially CHANEL Coromandel, its definitely full bottle worthy!!!

If you’re thinking of buying Khamrah, buy Vanilla Azure instead. If you already own Khamrah, don’t buy Vanilla Azure. They are exactly the same.

I got a sample of this when i order cairo nights, i think i like this one better, so might crab a bottle of this soon 9/10 🦋

If you like Khamrah you will love the opening of this. But the base is fluffy and marshmallowy.
