Arrakis

Initial Impression- This is a very creamy citrus. To me it has a similarity to Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche. It seems this is supposed be extremely similar to Tygar which I have never smelled. I also read that Sospiro Vibrato is similar to both Tygar and Arrakis. Imo Vibrato is better in every aspect so far. However, Arrakis does smell very good. I will update later with performance. Update: So a day later wearing this it definitely develops. It starts out as a citrus cream sharing similarities to Chanel EDB. However the development does go into a nice woodsy musk. The ambroxan in this is very well done. The ambroxan gives off a very iso super e vibe if you can imagine a toned down Molecule 01. The similarities with Vibrato are still there as I am wearing one on each arm. Initially I thought Vibrato was better in every way, now I don't necessarily think so. I do think that Vibrato is brighter and fresher which I really like, but the grapefruit in Arrakis is very a authentic photorealistic grapefruit which lingers into some nice woods. Vibrato starts off stronger but Arrakis develops stronger. Longevity is about the same, Arrakis wins in Projection while Vibrato wins in Sillage. Scent: 8/10 Versatility: 8/10 Longevity 10/10 (12+ hours on my skin) Projection 8/10 Sillage: 7/10 Seasons: All seasons but really shines in the Spring and Summer Great buy for the price. I've seen as low as $120 and I've seen some people say they purchased for around $100 (which I'm sure was before the Vibrato hype). Will 100% purchase!

I own this, 1819, Tygar, and Black Panther (and have tried other ME clones like Turathi Blue and the Silver one). The opening screams grapefruit just like Tygar and Black Panther. It's a synthetic base of woods and ambroxan over what appears to be natural grapefruit (surely mixed with synth grapefruit accords). This seems true of all of those I mentioned (except 1819 which is sort of a totally different animal). Arrakis differs a bit as it's very bright but has an underlying herbalness to it that I don't pick up in Tygar but the base of ambroxan feels the same - that similar "high quality" ambroxan that some of these more expensive houses use that smells a bit less grating to me than the commonly found ones in designer releases. It's bright, clean, masculine leaning, and goes casual to formal easily. I get 6-8 hours and I can smell this coming off my skin for 2-3 hours (with the ambroxan being detectable for the life). A 9.0/10 for me. You need to like the modern style of fresh scents (like essentially everything from Louis Vuitton) to enjoy this but I find this is better than anything in LV's lineup and is about equal to me for Tygar (which I'd also rate a 9 but it's too expensive, even at the $230 USD I paid at Heathrow last year).

Spirit of Kings does it again! Wow, what a perfume! After initially being very impressed by Tabana, I know have another great perfume in my collection, and its named Arrakis! I am often times suprised when a not see-through bottle is actually a fresh fragrance. I dont know why, but somehow I associatie fresh fragrances with see-through bottles. And since the first spray this one is a spritz in the face! A spritz of grapefruit. Honestly, grapefruit should be used more often in fresh fragrances. The note breakdown for Arrakis is pretty simple. Top grapefruit, middle woody notes and base ambroxan. Its quite heavy on the ambroxan actually. The opening is freshly sour, like a bite from a grapefruit. Thanks to the ambroxan the opening stays there pretty long! The woody aspect comes lurking around after the initial hour. Up until then is fresh fresh fresh! Arrakis is a fragrance with a punch, an uplifting energizing punch. Ive read somewhere that is smells quite similar to Tygar from Bvlgari's luxury collection. Never smelled that one, but if thats so I would love Tygar aswell! Arrakis is by far a top 5 fragrance this summer!

Got this almost a year ago after smelling Bvlgari Tygar on the duty free and I'm not crazy enough yet to pay what Bvlgari is asking for a bottle (315usd on duty free or 460usd retail O_O). Basically, a very good quality clone of Tygar. So i started my internet search of alternatives (clones): i got to my collection: 1- Arrakis - Spirit Of Kings (100ml, EDP) 2- Sceptre Bronzite - Maison Alhambra (100ml EDP) 3- Enter the Tiger - The Dua Brand (30ml Extrait) sorted by quality: 1 - Arrakis 2 - Enter the Tiger 3 - Bronzite sorted by price: 1 - Bronzite 2 - Enter The Tiger 3 - Arrakis Sorted by personal preference: 1 - Enter the Tiger 2 - Arrakis 3 - Bronzite So of the three the one i liked the most is Enter the tiger by Dua, following Arrakis and then Bronzite. But, prices... Arrakis i paid something like 200usd Bronzite like 30usd Enter he tiger: 60usd To be honest, the three of them are very, very close the original tygar, and by comparing them if i didn't had any of them i would choose Bronzite... For 30 usd you are getting really really close to Tygar, and the quality is not bad at all

#1005 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant. My first Spirit of Kings scents were "Tabana" and "Matar" both fantastic. So is this. This is not similar in any way to Tiziana Tirenzi's "Arrakis." But it does smell more like something a desert warrior on a distant planet might wear. Both this, Woods Collection "Panorama" and several others get compared to Bvlgari "Tygar", which I have but seldom wear. I don't smell Bvlgari Tygar here. Tygar is most definitely a white grapefruit. I will note the Spirit of Kings website shows Ruby Red Grapefruit, not white Grapefruit, and this does have that sweeter, less dry and less sour note of a Ruby Red. They don't specify the mix of woods in the "woody notes" but it's a good, warm and inviting mix. Nice ambroxan. Acceptable longevity and projection. Masculine. I don't think this will offend anyone in any setting. Business and romance appropriate. I'll probably a buyer for this one after I get all the Christmas giving out of the way.

Right now I'm comparing Tygar and Arrakis on my skin. Waw very close, I would say maybe 90% close in the opening and the mid but after 2 hours Arrakis stays linear when Tygar changed to woody creamy Ambroxan bomb. Tygar shines in the drydown after 1-2 hours when Arrakis linear with equal amount of grapefruit and Ambroxan. With that being said, if you are a collector then you have to get samples of the two and compare by your self. Personally as a collector I see Tygar superior and Arrakis has better value. I recommend Arrakis to anyone just want to smell good and Tygar to those who wants to smell superior. Arrakis Rating 8/10 Tygar Rating 8.5/10 ( Defiantly has better drydown smell and better performance)

Initial spritz, a burst of bright fresh citrus matched with some wood. It’s a tangy woodsy fresh aromatic scent. As it stays longer, the woodier and heavier it gets as it leaves trails of muskiness all around. I feel like Arrakis is like an oasis in the middle of the desert under the blazing heat of the sun. A breath of freshness while still manages to stay bold. Now, most citrus-y scents usually stay around for 2 hours at most. Arrakis on the other hand is very long lasting especially in warmer climates. Projection and sillage performs really great as well. This is one of my go to freshies because of its different take and great performance.

I like this more than vibrato. Vibrato get a little too floral pushing it unisex slightly feminine to my nose. Arrakis is very juicy, with a nice woody ambroxan mix that makes this simply delightful. Both are nice spinoffs to tygar which i would say is definitely the spiciest of the three, but for the price i think Arrakis is a winner. I got pretty good performance from a sample, lasts 4-6 hours on skin depending on how much you saturate the spot you spray

The scent profile is goated as everyone says , stays long on skin , not the best projector but you can overspray this easily without bothering other people ( it's very likable ) . 9/10

Similar scent profile with Tygar. It does have it's difference especially at the opening. Does cost as much as Tygar but still a bit pricey.

Fresh,nice smelling citrus,not complexed, casual,smell rich,price tag ok. Overall 9/10

Incredible fresh strong smell. For me it smelt like freshly squeezed orange.

A sweeter version of Bvlgari Tygar.

I tried Tygar a few years ago and it didn't do anything for me. I can't remember if this is similar, but I like this quite a bit. In a nutshell, it has a photorealistic grapefruit (not the cloying, overripe grapefruit note that ruins a number of good fragrances) that fades within 30 minutes, which is gradually replaced by accords of mahogany wood and black tea. Along the way there are a large number of things that come and go, including pepper, clove, rosemary, dry vanilla, leather, cumin, rose, camphoric varnish and oud. Mind you, these are not published notes, just what I get. My staffer walked into my office and said she got black tea and tobacco. She gave it a rare thumbs up. Taken together, this skirts the line between eastern and western fragrance styles. The ingredients are of high quality. It brings to mind Terre De Hermes - not that it smells like it, but it evokes the same mood, works in the same settings, and features a strongly woody drydown. I personally prefer the TdH due to the vetiver therein, but this is a really solid fragrance. Over my budget, but if someone gifted me a bottle, I would use and enjoy it. Leans masculine, but a confident woman could easily pull this off. This projects quiet confidence and strength, so it wouldn't be my choice for casual wear, but great for office, decent for dates and formal occasions. Best for cooler weather.

So I was interested to try this having tried and liked Tygar last year but passing on a bottle due to the price. I just didn't think something that essentially smelt like a high end designer was worth that sort of outlay despite how attractive the bottle and presentation was. So when this comes along at a price point I can work with I was eager to try it and I've worn it for the last two days. So for those unfamiliar with Tygar you will have to put up with my rather simplistic description which is a fairly linear grapefruit and ambroxan crowd pleaser with some woody notes in the dry down. What are the differences between the two? Tygar wins on presentation and appearance. I accept this is subjective but to me its no contest. Tygar has better projection, I found Tygar projected for around 2-3 hours. Arakis does not project as much. However Arakis lasts around 8-9 hours + on skin to Tygars 5-6. The differences in scent are perceptible but subtle. Tygar is heavier on the ambroxan, where in Arakis the grapefruit note is more perceptible. Thats pretty much it in a nutshell. Arakis lasts longer but less projection and less than half the price in a less attractive package than Tygar. The scents themselves are 95% the same with my personal preference favouring Arakis.

I'm one of those people who still hasn't tried the original Tygar, but I've now tried or owned three different clones of it (Afnan Turathi Blue, Lattafa Al Qiam Silver, and this). I found the Afnan to be by far the strongest, but also the least pleasant, and the Lattafa was a little more smooth, but had moderate performance at best. Neither impressed me as a scent, whatsoever. Arrakis, however, is a much better scent entirely. The opening, especially, didn't smell like the other two at all to me. This one opens with a much less sharp grapefruit note, less spice, and a creaminess that I didn't pick up at all in the others. As it dries down, it starts to be much more comparable, but still the least spice of the three, in my opinion. This isn't my typical style of fragrance, so I can't see myself picking up a bottle of this, but if I wore more citruses and freshies this would absolutely be on my want list. Very good quality, can't comment on performance yet since I just sprayed it about an hour ago, but it seeks like it'll perform at least as good as Al Qiam Silver, but definitely not as strong as Turathi Blue. I can't see how anyone would dislike this fragrance. Not all clones are created equal.

It’s a great fragrance! The opening is more sour and gingery than Tygar, which is almost a candied grapefruit to me. The sweet citrus hangs around longer in Arrakis, whereas Tygar goes to dry/woody fairly quick. Once in the drydown, Tygar kicks it. Maybe it’s patchouli, or ambrette, but there is a certain magic in Tygar that makes it slightly more addicting than Arrakis. In extensive testing of both I find that performance is pretty similar between them. EDIT: Unfortunately, arrakis has a deep drydown that smells of mosquito spray. Especially on clothes. I had this same problem with Black Panther by AF. Tygar has something else surrounding the ambroxan in the drydown that just makes it goooood. Or maybe it's just a different level of ambroxan? No idea. My man Jacques makes some magical drydowns between Tygar and LV Imagination.

Got a sample, this and Afnan Turathi Blue. Each on one hand. Opening is grapefruit which is preferable for me, instead of citruses from Turathi. In drydown I feel like its very close (my gf prefered Arrakis all the way - I was like both are decent). The biggest difference was for me that after like 3-4h, Arrakis was no longer there, while Turathi got stronger and stronger - crazy if you compare the price difference of each. I like it overall, especially for grapefruit start, but would choose rather Turathi for its price. Sad but being honest.

The opening is a beautiful citrus...and I mean beautiful. I thought this would be a great Summer office or casual fragrance....smart and clean. But then the citrus faded greatly and the Ambroxan completely took over. Very synthetic and mall mainstream. I really didn't care for the dry-down and I don't believe it is worth the price. I suggest you sample first.

Tygar is sweet and juicy, while Arrakis is sour and juicy. Tygar has a muskier, more "in your face" ambroxan, while Arrakis' has a smoother one. This is not a 100:100 copy, as they differ in vibe and composition. I would say however, this is a great fragrance that is just as sexy and unique as Tygar. 9/10
