Spirit of Cashmere Musk

In short; wonderful dupe. And also for a ridiculously tiny price. A little bit less anise, whose absence makes Cashmere seem slightly sweeter - but it is a minor difference, that only comes out from beginning to early-mid-stage for me. Starts a tiny bit less smooth but with more intensity, again minor difference, for two minutes. It's at least equal in sillage and lasting power to my Hypnotic Poison EdT (made 2022, + mini pre-2009), high-medium. I cherish my Dior bottles. But the contents don't differ all that much. Funnily enough. If you can, and don't mind the meh packaging with pink juice (well, handbag option?), do give it a try! Quick comparison addendum: La Rive Sweet Hope is to me equally great in smell with a way more fitting, pretty bottle. And/but it is light, meaning low to low-medium sillage and lasting power - which can be good, and actually made me like HP for the first time ever. Guipure Silk seems to vary in production, and mine is half HP half powder-musk; interesting, but would not even bother buying as an alternative. Not tried the popular Tesori d'Oriente, and probably won't as so far I've found my favourites, in Cashmere and Sweet Hope.

This perfume is a great example of trust the process. I sprayed it on my wrist thinking it will be a dupe of Hypnotic Poison. But I didn't smell it so much at first - only harsh almond with a bit of vanilla. Decided to give it a bit more time and there it was, a beautiful rich sweet floral explosion with almond and some creaminess. It stayed on my wrist for about 5 hours now and it's not disappearing. I can say that it smells like Hypnotic Poison since I tested it before but never bought it, therefore I cannot say if it's an exact exact dupe but I definitely remember the crazy similarity. The only difference is that this one is not as blended as HP. It won't bother me much now but to hide the 'harsh' notes of Cashmere musk, I will layer it with Zara femme- also a light version of HP that will blend the notes smoothly. This is an intense fragrance, so definitely recommend it in the winter and nighttime. Since I love it so much, I will probably use it in the summer as well but only 1 spray is enough.

such a pretty fragrance, i think it smells really high quality and has good sillage. flowery, sweet and vanilla. cant go wrong with this.

I think this smells really really good for the price (I got it for 7 something euros). I like how it is a bit oldschool-ish in a way.

Spirit of Cashmere Musk is a good Hypnotic Poision edt dupe for me, It smells stronger and longer than La Rives Sweet Hope but without the early Play Doh note, but less sweet. This Dupe lasts longer than the Hypnotic Poison edt with greater sillage. But the OG smell is of higher quality and much rounder.

This one is very nice. At first spray i get a deep, rich sweetness. Later on i can smell some flowers, but no tuberose ( this fact actually disappointed me). It is a very good perfume for this price range, and sillage and longevity really impressed me.

where is the newest and most beautiful one - Spirit Of Blooming Deligt? I got it yesterday and so interested whats in, because its smell and performance are awesoeme!!

what a perfect dupe for Just Cavalli Just! I own them both and cannot say which is which - they are so similar, even in longevity & projection

It’s definitely a weaker dupe for Dior Hypnotic Poison!!

When I bought this perfume I had no idea it was supposed to be a dupe for Hypnotic Poison - it was recommended in a circle of Arabic perfume users as a layering scent. Because it was so inexpensive (I paid just under 7 euro and have now found it for 4) I added it to my cart when I was buying sth off Amazon anyway. My 1st experience was terrible: "blegh !" A huge alcohol cloud, and barely any perfume scent apart from some screechy faux vanilla and a bit of nasty jasmine. I'm used to more of an alcohol blast in cheapies, either because maceration barely happened or the alcohol used is of bad quality. But this made me cough up a long! My experiences with online orders, particularly those coming from abroad (as products in my own country are generally much more expensive than other EU members I tend to order the majority of my perfume across the border), and especially if fragrances are under €40/100ml, have taught me that I should let a new arrival have some "maceration & chill" time, as I've dubbed it now ;). So I sprayed a few more times to empty the atomiser and left the -by the way super handy travelsize - bottle alone for 3 weeks. After that the alcohol in the opening was still very strong, but less so. And with each extra week it became less. While the alcohol opening never fully disappeared it remained bound to the first 10 seconds. After that a boozy, bitter almond scent appeared (from the tonka I assume). The almond was directly accompanied by a creamy vanilla and a soft jasmine-tuberose mix. And that's when I thought: what the hey hey...I KNOW this fragrance! Unfortunately the heart is flighty and loses the strength of the almond- vanilla-floral accord quickly in the pushy musk of the base. The dry down ends in a strong musk that has very soft accents of sandalwood and a barely recognisable white flower or what I considered bitter almonds. I can see the resemblance with Dior’s popular baby, but mostly in the heart. The dry down is too musky - at least on my skin. That's a shame because in the heart (again: on my skin) it comes very close to the original. As a fan of Hypnotic Poison, but with a small wallet, I've tested several dupes already (Jeanne Arthes Guipure and Silk, Pascal Morabito- Lady In Red, La Rive's Sweet Hope, Zara Femme, or Poison Noir by an Arab brand). Like this Spirit none of them reach 100% scent wise, as in giving the rich, full fragrance that HP delivers, but for their prices they're acceptable. If you keep the fragrance that blossoms in the heart in the dry down as well, Cashmere is one of the better duplicates. Alas, there's good reason why I won't be repurchasing Cashmere in the future. First off projection, sillage and longevity are rather disappointing. To say they're all limited is an understatement. I always spray the fragrance in question on my hand when I'm reviewing, in case I need a reminder. In the time I've written text this the perfume has walked all its pyramid steps, gotten to the dry down and already lost pretty much all projection- what little is there to begin with. It's now a very soft skin- scent, only perceivable when nose hits skin. You'll then get mostly musk, some vanilla and a hint of almond. I think this is why it was recommended as layering by certain fellow fragantophiles. It's a nice smell that'll quite likely strengthen a vanillic base or bitter almond note in another perfume. However, as a standalone it isn't good enough. Now, I do have perfume eating skin, but this is bad performance - even for me. If I douse myself in the stuff - at least 30 sprays - I expect to get an hour at minimum from a bodymist. As this is sold as an eau de parfum I would expect three hours for this price. But...I get maybe half an hour of intimate projection and then approximately 20min of barely there skin scent.... and then poof! (EDIT OCTOBER 2023). What's more: the quality also lacks in another department. Shelf life. Literal shelf life. We're usually promised around 3 years before we need to shuck our perfumes. We all know those with strong, heavy notes can sometimes last half a lifetime with good care, where citrusy and other lighter fragrances might start to change, losing topnotes, becoming less strong. And based on my experiences most freshies (except for DKNY's apples! About 14yrs old and still exactly the same!) need to say goodbye around 3yrs after opening. I keep all my perfumes in their own boxes, in a dark closet during their "off seasons", and otherwise on a place in my bedroom where the sun never hits if my room would be bathed in light (But as my very thick UV blocking curtains are always closed - since I have a creepy neighbour across the street - they're basically in a dark room too then.) That's why my freshies have not gone off or changed since I got them (pre 2020 or IN 2020). That's not the case for Cashmere. The fragrance has turned pinkish and nowadays smells like vinegar with a vague hint of almond and tuberose. Barf. Another edp of theirs (White Vanilla, very lovely) lost all strength it had... and today I noticed the off-smell is slowly creeping in. Seeing as they're about 11 and 9 months old respectively, and were treated well, that's just not okay. Even when they're the epitome of the word 'cheapie'. If you're on a tight budget, are looking for A. A dupe of Hypnotic Poison or a nice vanilla smell with white floral/ musk/ almond accents, and B. don't have a large collection: definitely go for it. It's not a huge loss of money and if you don't have 50 or 100, or even more fragrances competing for attention, you might likely finish this 30ml before its untimely demise. Besides, even the majority of the best of perfumes perform atrocious on my skin, so it might do better on yours. Don't expect miracles, though.

Yes it is comparable to Hypnotic Poison but this is very muted and a skin fragrance. I barely smell it on myself and it doesn't last very long, but for around €5 nothing to complain about!

This smells like an old lipstick

Well, this just goes to show how personal perfumes are. I love hunting for good affordable perfumes and pride myself on a total lack of snobbery. I don’t care for brands or price tags and will spend lots or little if and when a scent convinces and pleases me. Here comes the kicker: because of several rave reviews on Fragrantica and because Spirit scents are readily available in Germany, I tried them all. And NONE worked for me. NONE. I had high hopes for this one as I am usually very keen on all things cashmere-y / musky but the Spirit - effect, yet again, sprang into action: within minutes a promising start of tart orange blossom overlaid with buttery tonka turned rancid on me. Too bad. It made me nauseous. Whelp. The hunt continues.

idk what it is about this one but it just doesn't do it for me. i don't get vanilla or jasmine at all unfortunately, and minimal sandalwood which is a bit unpleasant. i didn't really expect much jasmine from a 4 euro scent, but very disappointed at the lack of vanilla. on application it smells quite strongly of alcohol (and strong in general) but quickly fades. on me it is just kind of musky and there is something about it i don't like. maybe it's the tuberose?

Very synthetic vanilla but the silage and staying power is ENORMOUS! Maybe it could be used in layering with some more sophisticated smell. Worth trying.
