Cathedralis

tried 3 ml decant, bright amber, light smoky, mild sweet, fizzy but believe me the scentwise is soo good. Remind me a bit of Profumum Roma Battito D'ali just the vibes.

This would be my first review for the new account, I lost my old account which linked to my old email which I using 10 years ago. Just having a fragmeet with fellow Fraghead. Once I smell this, I knew I had to share a review about this perfume from my country Malaysia, Sabah which is the neighbour state of my hometown, Sarawak. When I first seeing Cathedralis, will immediately associated with High Church smell, the scent of frankincense & myrrh, warm, spicy, smoky & balsamic-sweet with slightly citrus nuaces. I think Mr Morris had captured the scent really well. It's opened with the combination of citrus, spices & incense (frankincense & myrrh). Instead of capturing the scent of smelling directly the burning of incense, it's more towards you inhaling the lingering air inside the cathedral after the service. The notes sound heavy but it's hitting me with airy & transparent vibe. I like how he played with the accord, incense could be cold & dark; pungent & smoky, but the way he enhance the incense accord with spices & citrus, liven up the scent that it becoming warm, inviting & uplifting. Spices were somehow underrated in incense theme fragrances, I felt cathedralis have right portion of spices which adding the flavour & depth to the composition. It's not as dull as some incense on the market. Floral soon joined in the incense which I find it was sublime on my skin, floral did make the scent become more powdery & also "lighten" the overall experience. Imagine the spices & incense & powdery notes blended seamingly together, complement each other instead of dominate each other. You definitely can capture the transition between the notes. Floral notes somehow mellowed down the incense to avoid this scent become overly spiritual and meditative. I can clearly detect cedar on drydown, as I also an avid leather boot lover which love to smell my red cedar shoe trees. Cedar wood if you're sniff it, it's have a very distinct camphorous & piney smell. Fun fact, cedar also been used for incense purpose. I would said the cedar provide very good woody backbone to pair with amber incense accord with hint of sweet vanillic nuances. The sweetness was just hitting the right amount, honestly I'm really hate those sickening sweet amber scent like Grand soir which really makes me nauseous. In my view, balance and harmony are the key for an objectively high quality perfume and Mr Morris did it. I would highly recommend to people who prefer light and airy type of amber, overall it is a top-notched scent with very solid construction. PS: I really hoped to secure a bottle of Cathedralis.
