Golden Wood

Golden Wood does not have any wood notes. Even its name does not make any sense. Also, this perfume does not lean to the feminine side. It should be classified at least as a unisex fragrance, although to me it seems to be a quite masculine blending. The marketing executives at S. T. Dupont were probably totally drunk when this perfume was released. The notes listed in Fragrantica are all wrong as well. Having said that, from the quality, blending, performance and presentation point of view, this fragrance is quite remarkable. It reveals a very heavy leather composition, quite similar to Tom Ford Tuscan Leather although less sweet (or not sweet at all). To my nose, Golden Wood seems to be even closer to Rasasi La Yuqawam. Lovers of very well-achieved and non-sweet true leather scents may become unconditional addicts of this perfume. It is quite strange how Dupont's marketing people are fooling woody fragrance lovers with this name and notes breakdown. At the same time, they chase away the true leather notes enthusiasts that probably would be very happy to purchase this perfume. It is not a surprise that this perfume is a sales disaster. The good news is that if you find it in any store, it will have a low price. My bottle cost me 23 Euros. It's the cheapest Tuscan Leather look-alike that I own, and probably the best one. The correct notes of S. T. Dupont Golden Wood are: Top: juniper berries, cypress oil Heart: saffron, vetiver oil Base: leather, benzoin.

It ́s definitelly variation of La Yuqawam Homme Rasasi for men. I owned Rasasi, but I sold it, because some strange note I didn ́t like. Golden Wood has same dark chocolate leather vibe as Yuqawam. Y. Oregano is replaced by Juniper which turns Golden wood more mediterranean feeling for me. Saffron is excitingly sparking around. Raspberry from Y. is missing, but sweet vetiver do almost same note in more herbal/woody way. I imagine cedar garden lightned by strong hot sun. On old wood bench someone forgot gloves from genuine soft leather (but no suede), near them is bowl with juniper seads and bay leaves (not listed). Really nice perfume with own personality, for me wereable for all year seasions. Certainly unisex. On skin are more prominent soft sweet leather notes, on cloth I sniff more herbal/woody notes. Edit: Sillage is really soft, I need overspray each 1-2 hours. Edit II. - Sillage is probably great, I ́m little bit anosmatic to this perfume. :D

The note breakdown is all wrong and so is the name! There's nothing woody about this one. It smells like a smoky leather fragrance with a dry spice kick, might be saffron! It has a hint of dry earthy notes, smoky vetiver and some green note?. Juniper is beautiful here, it gives the brightness and balance to the dense and dark composition. It does remind me of Tuscan Leather at the very first moment but changes quite quickly to its own direction. It does remind me more of Nishane's Suéde et Safran on a drydown. It's not a loud but it definitely lasts a very long time, 9h on skin, on clothes... eternity XD How can they make this insanely great quality juice with that price tag?! It's phenomenal!

An amazing fragrance, giving out dark forrest vibes, and a specific scent, taking me back 30 years in the past. I can see someone in olive suit with brown details wearing this on a night out or casual lunch.. P.S. most of the times i layer it over “tesori d’oriente forest ritual” and works perfect! 5/5

similar to secret woods from costume national..the mix of leather and the woods gives a vibe of smoky woodds / incense... very classy

There are a lot of things wrong about this fragrance, honestly. Firstly, I have to say that there's nothing wrong about loving or hating a fragrance since it is an entirely subjective topic, even when we're talking about who should wear it... but, here goes nothing. I didn't pay any attention to what this fragrance smelled like or what notes it has, since I got a sample of it for free with my fragrance purchase. So, St. Dupont Golden Wood is a good fragrance, but I think it smells like Tuscan Leather, Godolphin, La Yuqawam, and other similar fruity-leather fragrances. The problems are: 1. Despite being marketed for women, I think it is a very masculine fragrance to me, even though it's not as masculine as other fragrances I mentioned before. 2. I was very surprised to see the notes after taking a sniff of it the first time. It is not woody at all, not that spicy, and does not have that sandalwood characteristic. What I can smell are leather, berries and fruity notes, some citrus, vetiver and saffron.

A frish bitter and little rough western oud with a little leather.. It develops until it becomes soft in the dry down.. This is what I smell if I'm not mistaken !.. currently in the fall nights its good performance that lasts for eight hours on my skin.. I think it is the latest Dupont release .. very attractive.. You will fall in love with it after 15 minutes of spraying .. in my opinion its more suitable for men .. don't hesitate..

Really Nice Patchouli Amber Sandalwood Fragrance & Lasting very good

Incorrectly listed as a women’s fragrance but unisex.

I feel this is a sort of perfumery inside joke. Firstly, how is this a perfume for women when it’s downright masculine? I use many perfumes for men btw as well as unisex, but this is way too masculine for me. Also, the notes are wrong. I can only sense sour old leather, with a hint of cigarettes and patchouli. It is similar to Tuscan leather but less sweet ( although TL is only a hint of sweetness) . To me it smells like an old leather sofa in an old pub where in the past there was cigarette smoke allowed. The silage and staying power are impressive, beyond 12 hours, like a top range perfume. I recommend it for a man who wears an old leather jacket, and is heading to a pub for a pint with mates after work.

Pencil shavings type of wood, leather, citrus/fruit and some floras. Easily unisex. I'd say it'd suit women, more so. Leather evokes a thick, heavy smell association but, this is light, pleasant, clean and well formulated. Excellent longevity and silage is perfect.

Smooth, seductive & quietly confident. Think soft leather kissed by citrus & florals. Clean, warm, addictive. A gentler, sexier cousin of TF Tuscan Leather. On skin: sweet & intimate. On clothes: woody & magnetic. Unisex, but chef’s kiss on women.
