(Alexander the Great) Samarkand is a city over 2,750 years old, roughly the same as Rome and Athens. The ancient Greeks and Romans knew the city under the name "Marakanda". Samarkand was already a well-developed urban conglomerate during the campaign of Alexander the Great. After Alexander's Hellenization and due to its location right in the centre of the old Silk Trade Route, it served as a bridge between east and west. The city served as an important vehicle for commerce between the ancient empires of China, India, Persia, and Rome. The route dates back to 100 BC. and was a contact channel between people and cultures. It inspired the exchange of dialogue, art, religion, ideas and technology and, of course, fabrics, spices and perfumes. In the early Middle Ages, Samarkand was inhabited by scientists and artists from all over the world. All the prerequisites for the development of science, education and culture have been created in the city. All the magic that surrounded medieval Samarkand can be imagined through Amin Maalouf's novel "Samarkand". The story revolves around the 11th-century Persian poet Omar Khayyám and his Rubaiyat poetry collection. Today Samarkand is a beautiful and culturally rich city and has not lost its originality and unique appearance. During its existence, it has repeatedly surprised the neighbouring regions with craft, skill and creativity. Samarkand is considered an inestimable cultural treasure of the Central Asian region, and deserves its nickname "Pearl of the Orient and garden of the soul". From the moment I first experienced Noble Wood by S.T. Dupont, I have associated it with the smells of the old town of Samarkand, its historical monuments, countless narrow streets, thousands of shops, old private houses and precious woods used in temples, palaces, cafes, as well as exhibited in the workshops of countless woodworkers. It is easy to make an association with the scent of Kalemat الكلمات by Arabian Oud, but the STDupont accords are somewhat richer in the variety of woody notes proposed, like heavenly sandalwood blended with very creamy agarwood amidst other exotic woods and resins. It is a truly ambery and woody precious perfume gem. ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ Overall rating: 8.77 / 10.00 Opinion: A bottle filled with seductive amber and precious woods. If you like this type of scent don't miss this one. As far as I am concerned, I share the same type of feeling described by Alexander the Great: (this perfume) was more beautiful than I could have imagined. Don't buy it blindly. Out of the 4 I have from this line, Noble Woods is by far my favorite. Royal Amber- Leather Vanilla & Perfect tobacco are the other 3 I own. For Xmas I finally bought Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and I was pretty disappointed in it. Don't get much Tobacco nor Vanille, it is in fact a Cinnamon bomb. That is the note that dominates the entire lifespan of the fragrance for me. I have quite a few tobacco based fragrances, but non of them comes to mind while wearing Tobacco Vanille. What comes to mind are all the S.T. Dupont fragrances in this line that I own. Not identical to any of them but it is the same vibe as the 4 I own. The same Scent Group. Dense, sweet, slightly gourmand. What's more, Noble Wood and 1 or 2 other Duponts outperform Tom Fords most popular fragrance. And that for a fraction of the price. I don't care much about so called natural notes. In the end what counts is the combo: scent, longevity, sillage and radiance. All other is perception. A justification for excessive pricing. Golden Wood will be my next.

In 2019, I had the pleasure of buying Royal Amber and even tho' I love it, I wasn't too fascinated about 6wearing it. I left it in my Dresser. Fast forward to 2020! And with me is an "Amber bomb" with really potent woody oriental facets and this slightly chocolatey sweetness (strangely reminding me of Roja Dove's Amber Extrait). Noble Wood is definitely a noble (and worthy) competitor to Black Kalemat with the former having its Ambery tones more amped up! May I also add that Noble Wood would definitely fit colder months. Its fragrant beauty lies in the sillage and projection as you walk past friends and frenemies. A unisex fragrance that leaning towards masculinity. Hopefully, my next targets would be: Golden Wood, Oud & Rose, Perfect Tobacco and of course Vanilla & Leather (for my babe). S. T. I have lot of experience with amber/oud (wood) arabic fragrances. Noble Wood is one of smoothest perfume from this category I ever smelled.. so elegant composition. Amber is super realistic and dominant ingredient of perfume, followed by smooth dark wood. I think it's not primary imitation of oud wood. I can smell also balsamic sweetness from benzoe. After some time stronf earthy patchouli and powdery sandalwood are more prominent. For me, very nice blindbuy and perfect choice for cold weather. Perfume of half way of arabic perfume and paris elegantion. I prefer to wearing in on clothes, than skin. I don't like comparsion with Raghba, because R. is more sugary sweet and smell definitely cheaper + hedeache included.

First 10min is super strong. This needs to settle down. It's not that the opening is not nice it's just soo loud that it's hard to sniff up close. A really creamy rich lush scent that just goes for hours with lots of development. I get lots of benzoin and olibanum backed up by the sandalwood. A touch of amber sweetness but it is not overtly sweet, just right. This is like a half brother of a Amouage that has a french dad. Not as refined as a Amouage but VERY close. Performance is stellar. The sprayer is horrible, spits out a thin stream. This could last a long time as it is pretty strong.

Love it in winter, especially around Cristmas. Cold weather and warm skin make it fabulous and the first couple of hours are my favourite: rich and resinous, heady amber evokes an image of thick maple sirup slowly flowing from a sandalwood cask. As the booziness evaporates it takes the delicious sweetness with it and we are left with a slightly sweet woody scent that sits very naturally and close to the skin. The bottle is tall, slender and gorgeously golden. At 50$ for a 100ml this gem is an absolute steal. I wonder how it would behave in summer.

Very nice amber with a touch of sweetness and a touch of an animalic note but a very tame animalic note. This is very similar to kalemat Black.I have both on 1 on each hand they are very similar, definitely same vibe. Their is a slight difference which is that the Amber in Noble Wood stands out more. St Dupont Noble Wood is niche quality and for the price and smell it definitly is full bottle worthy. Noble Wood is a great scent it gets my stamp of approval and if you like this kind of scents it is a hidden gem!!

I got a lot of sweet ambery incense, a lot of vanilla, a little bit of florals a little bit of wood. It is a top notch fragrance. It was my favorite fragrance in my collection for a long time and it still holds a special place in my heart. It would fit great in a beginners collection and a more seasoned collector would enjoy this fragrance a lot too.

Smooth amber bomb with woody scent to support. It's an assertive and commanding fragrance, best worn in formal events with suit and tie. Beware of over spraying. 2-3 is quite a lot. I admit, I don't have too many fragrance collection, but this is the most prominent frag I have.

I love love love this perfume! I can smell on me wood, with smoky accords. Not sweet. Not annoying everyday wear perfume for work. Well, it is one of the nicest woody perfumes for me. Woody and earthy smell. For cold weather perfect choice.

One of the best amber/oud scents I have in my collection. An exquisitely well blended and rich scent. Noble indeed. With its exceptional longevity and silage as well, Noble Wood is a great fall/winter perfume.

Noble Wood is all about sweet amber and resins, so some might find the name a bit misleading. Opening is a honeyed, almost syrupy sweet amber/benzoin blend where I can understand the comparison to Raghba or even Raghba Wood Intense (minus that weird burnt plastic accord), as others have pointed out. But where Noble Wood differs is that fairly bombastic layer of olibanum/frankincense that just punches you in the nose from the get-go -- it straddles that line between ritualistic incense and urinal cake, leaning slightly depending on your chemistry. Honestly, I think this is where NW is most likely to get written off. But give it time and you will be rewarded. After 30 minutes to an hour, the olibanum calms down into its smokier version and brings with it just a touch of lightly scorched wood, along with a more balanced honeyed sweetness from the opening. From there on out, NW punches well above its price point in terms of both quality and longevity, giving you an easy 6-8 hours at least. I hate talking about projection, as I don't really shoot for that -- but I can see any more than 2-3 sprays easily announcing your presence well before you enter a room, with a beastly sillage to match. You do you, but I don't want to be "that guy." Less is more. Strong like, definitely a grower. Test sprayed it today, thinking I was going to sell my bottle, but I find myself liking it now much more than I did when the bottle was new. This should also layering well -- for when that sweetness is just a bit too much, spritz it under/over something similar but less sweet -- I can see it really popping with the likes of Halston Man Amber, Kilian Incense Oud, RP Bois Noir, etc. Good stuff!

Maybe Kilian got some inspiration from ST Dupont? Angels' Share and this one smell quite similar to my nose, although Noble Wood doesn't have any booze and it's a lot heavier. Even though there's no oud listed, I get a funky and slight plasticky quality from this, which puts me off a little bit. Very strong performer, lasts all day and projects far for at least 4-5 hours, if not more. I've had this for a couple of years, but just never reach for it, I guess I'll just sell it.

Is pretty strong at first spray, projects good and i keep smelling it around me for about 8 hours. After that for 4 hours as a skinscent. Silage I do not know, can not test it yet. This smells of sweet amber from the beginning...not very much development. I think it is in the same vein as Trussardi Amber Oud as far I can compare now...but not that oudish. Stays for days on clothes. Very good performance. Certainly not an office scent. Just for winter time too.

I agree very much with most of the things other reviewers have said. This is the kind of fragrance I generally like and wear a lot, but the opening is just a tad too sweet for me/on me. There is a brief moment in the beginning where amber and benzoin merge (on my skin) in a way that makes me catch a whiff of vomit. After this everything is pleasant again. Unisex in a way oriental or amber-woody scents often are. I would love this fragrance on a man.

warm ambery sweet patchouli, with occasional whiff of resinous benzoin. as with most patchouli forward fragrance, this is long lasting and big on sillage. if you are expecting woody fragrance, get a decant first, this might not be for you.

Very nice and good quality scent. Smell a little similar to Lancome Oud Bouquet, but less sweet and has a cool vibe. I like it a lot.

Kind of powdery, dry, yet likeable and a bit sweet. Heavy on the woody notes, pretty unisex.

This is ok. I expected it to be a sillage bomb based on reviews here-- on me it is not. Doesn't smell like much at all honestly, a vaguely woody ambery fragrance, nothing special, nothing innovative or even interesting or even particularly well blended. It lasts maybe a couple of hours as a skin scent. It's a 5 out of 10 for me, pretty much forgettable. Smells good enough, just boring, and with terrible performance. Spend a little more and get something better.

This is bit too similar to Kalemat Black ( and a few other Arab parfums) Kalemat outperforms this in every area. Price is better on this but owning both is redundant imo.Arab houses always accused to making clones of western houses. This is an example of it happens other way around aswell.

Like smelling a piece of wood that has been exposed to intense, continuous sunlight for 300 years, extremely dry, so dry you're gonna want a sip of water after you smell it. Woody is good, but this is just too much.

This is incredibly similar to Sotoor Waaw Rasasi to me, except despite hardly being able to tell them apart I love that one and feel kind of meh about this one for reasons unknown. It's not as complex.

it ́s a good quality... balanced smooth oriental sweetness, more into winter and fall weather ... yea, similar to raghba lattafa but as the people here said before (and these people have very good nose here) it ́s more pleasant, not sickly sweet, very mild and not crazy ... but i have 10 ml decant, no need to have whole bottle (although it ́s super fancy), i have sniffed lots of similar smellls (similar to all those sweet montales and manceras)

I feel like I got played. The bottle says Noble Wood but it smells like sickly sweet rose and oud. Maybe it's mislabeled.

Warm, soft spices, warm rich resin, strong wood notes, hint of the screamy wood alcohol aroma chemical I hate. The main bit is lovely and almost like dried tobacco, but the woody yell is a bit much. It's worse on my sister, where the scream was pitched, loud and incessant. We both are women who wear men's fragrances and unisex fragrances, but there's too much of that modern 'woody amber' aroma chemical in this one that reads as rubbing alcohol and screams all day long in synthetic cacaphony. Hate that part. The rest would be great without it.

I never into the St Dupont perfume line. but I'm crazy about this line. The golden bottle attracts me when I was testing other brands. It represents the vibe delivered from the very 1st spray. I love the simple and sexy blend this perfume brings whenever my husband uses it. the wood and amber complement each other and my husband decides to make it his one of favourites for every day beside the vanilla leather. This perfume is more manly so USD80/IDR1,1 per bottle is a great price.

Received this today. First impressions. Initial blast is deceiving....so wait for it to develope. Yes, in the vibe of Kalamat Black...not a clone per se. Rich smell...sweet/woody amber. IMO, better than their Royal Amber one. Very very nice scent...classy. Great bottle too. I do not "see" the comparison to Ragdba...only in the "type" of scent..not the actual "smell".Nor do I see the comparion to the Halston Woman Amber...except for the amber feel.

Bought a decant to test it, I wanted to sniff it for ages. Semi-sweet and pleasant, but a bit generic woody amber. Above designer, below niche. Long lasting with a good sillage. Overall, it's a nice scent.

Could someone chechk if this one uses ambroxan or cashmere to create the amber accord? Thanks!

Its the cheap version of kalemat black.
