Signature for Men

S.T. Dupont Signature Pour Homme, the EDT in the square block bottle, not to be confused with the round bottle Signature Pour Femme EDP, is to my nose an almost exact dupe of Carven Pour Homme. I do not see this comparison made often enough, because once both are on skin and have moved past the opening, they become remarkably close. Signature shares that same dry woody structure of cedar, sandalwood, and gentle spice, with a smooth polished masculine character that feels easy and satisfying to wear. Compared side by side, Carven Pour Homme has a slightly enhanced lavender note and a little more aromatic brightness, while Signature comes across as a touch more refined in its powdery scent. But these differences are very small, and in the drydown they are nearly indistinguishable to me. Both also resemble my scent memory of the revered Gucci Envy for Men. They do not copy it exactly, but they capture a very similar refined woody-spicy masculine feeling that clearly lives in the same family to my nose. What makes Signature so appealing is the same thing that makes Carven so good: a soft, elegant woody-spicy masculine profile with warmth, polish, and ease. I love them both, and anyone who enjoys Carven Pour Homme should absolutely try Signature.

I don’t where to find it. I have a 30ml bottle. It’s a strange story how i had it. One of my rich, close relative passed away in 2023. He had no child and someone to do all the things after he passed. I took all the responsibility. I was cleaning his house when i found this. A full bottle in a drawer. When i first took a sniff i almost passed out. It didn’t smelled good. Good is not the word to explain this fragrance. It smells divine. Divine is the right word. I still keep the fragrance. I will use this for my wedding in the future. Just something that has a story. That is what this fragrance is.

I will not go into scent analysis here. I will just say, I love it, I absolutely love it. Signature is not my everyday or work frag. It's for PM, it's great for special occasions, including that when you need to indulge your senses. I would say it is more of a cold season fragrance, but it work well for every season, at least for me. It's said to be balsamic, maybe so... but I would also call it gourmand/ spicy / almost-Oriental. It's probably not part of Fragrantica Arabica (sweet-oud-ish, kind of frags), but it's halfway there, between the 1800's France and Near East.

Most magical, intriguing, seductive and mysterious scent I ever experienced. Pure pleasure to wear by myself and absolute indulgence to smell it on a man you care for. It has specific intelligence and aristocracy of old Dupont's house. Signature ticks all my boxes– smokiness and masculine flowers, birchwood and incense, warm ambery-peppery drydown. A prince among orientals. And just the one in the world of men fragrances if to consider how smoothly its been made. Some ppl compare it with Gucci Envy for men, some with Opium pour Homme, - nope. Its better. 20/10 from me

If it were not for Givenchy PI and Boucheron Jaipur being released 2 years earlier this would be a mega hit! Too bad St. Dupont is not a well known brand but this is the best oriental I have smelled. I have had it for about 6 or 7 years but rarely reach for it. It is rather sweet but the spices tame it it so it never becomes cloying like the other 2 can be at times. Very unisex and a crowd pleaser during cooler weather. It's still available via Ebay and can be found at reasonable prices if you have patience. At least pick up a mini and you will not regret it!

I bought this in 2000 and kept in on the shelf, now and then trying it. I think I bought it cause it also reminded me of Gucci Envy which I loved. Signature has the same warm feel but misses the ginger which to me makes this less sweet. The vanilla is a bit harsh - pointy - dunno how to discribe. The dry down however is very good. Less sharp and more patchuli (?) After 19 years enjoying it for what it is

Well I can say it's very similar to Gucci Envy, difference I get off the bat is that instead of Ginger it's vanilla. I'd say it's very good it's just missing that certain je ne sais quoi that Gucci Envy has,if only this had less vanilla, while this is similar in it's dry down, it's missing that freshness the ginger imparts on Gucci, it's not the replacement for Gucci Envy anyone would hope it to be.

this is very romantic scent..its really good for winter scent or going on a special date..its sweet and i can smell the insense on it and touch of vanilla, cinnamon to soften them up.. i didnt find out about this fragrance until today.. and its been around for 10 years now. this fragrance has a beautiful notes.i wish i found this a long time ago..very nice relaxing romantic scent..

Signature is also a good name because it can be a signature scent..also alot of of people dont own this..Its not very popular around but its the best romantic scent out there.Ill definitely keep this a secret fragrance.. Very romantic and special fragrance... this fragrance is under the radar (it hides its wonderful scent, unless you search for it)

Almond, almond and more almond... This is a very sweet fragrance. I love it, but I have to be in the mood for it. I am astonished about the comparisons to Envy for Men. It's nothing like it. It's closer to Pi from Givenchy and Rochas Man, (pink/ phallus bottle). They all share that almond/tonka accord. I think this is the best of the genre.

This is gorgeous I have managed to get my hands on 5 bottles for great prices! Rare to come by but sometimes people are getting rid of this for dirt cheap.this is a timeless scent for me. And you will stand out wearing this! And this is not a known scent. You will get compliments!

Givenchy pi fresh is the best comparison to this fragrance. The woody, benzoin, and amber combo hit so different in this and fresh. Both have a powdery vibe to them. I’m lucky enough to have bottles of this and pi fresh.

I can't forget that look on the face of everyone smelled this perfume on me. Its long lasting stunning . Where can i buy it again , it's vanished from market , if any one can help me.

Very rich and elegant plus inexpensive. Better than many popular perfumes.

An Indian meeting in New York Every time I smell or apply S.T. Dupont Signature Pour Homme, it reminds me of westernized Indians who live, work or study in the united states or European countries. It has a decidedly oriental aura which is seen, felt and depicted through a western nose viewpoint of Richard Herpin. It is indeed a western interpretation of indian-oriental ambience. S.T. Dupont Signature Pour Homme is a rich and dense priental woody spicy perfume with pivotal notes of vanilla, cinnamon, birch, benzoin and insence with a soft peppery layer beneath it. I can discern most of the notes throughout the evolution of the perfume though its development is not too much complex. A compilation of notes crowded like a party where your eyes lose what they glance. I think this complexity is what had made Collin Maillard a bit confused to call it an odd perfume. It takes some time to understand this perfume completely. The combination of heliotrope and benzoin reminds some people of Givenchy Pi or Boucheron Jaipur Homme, though there is not that much similarity among them with the exception of being oriental (Indian here) in their general aura. It also remind me a little bit of Gucci Envy for Men specially in the top notes but Envy is lighter and greener. I enjoy this perfume despite the fact that sometimes it seems heavy to me and may cause light headaches. It is almost a strong perfume, so if you're faint-hearted somehow like me, be careful with application. It lasts a good time and projects well for a few hours and the sits close to skin like a soft, warm and red velvety mantle.

Signature for Men by S.T. Dupont can be considered part of the Gucci Envy for Men orbit, despite some reviewers not agreeing. The accord stack is very similar, just differing mainly in the prominence of a few of the accords, mainly Amber and Vanilla. The vanilla and tonka are jacked up in Signature for Men compared to Envy for Men. The heliotrope note imparts a slight powderiness to Signature. Maybe Signature for Men is a bit closer in profile to another Envy orbiter, Carven Homme. Homme is sweeter than Envy, and so is Signature. Maybe Signature is somewhere between Envy for Men and another that gets compared to it, Givenchy Pi, on the scent profile spectrum. I would need to wear my Givenchy Pi again to compare, but it seems Envy is the closest. I have full bottles of all three of these fragrances, and wore Envy for Men on one wrist to compare during my Signature test wear. Differences are definitely detectable. Neither are good performers, but the performance of Signature seems worse. The performance of Signature really undermines my enjoyment of it, and I'm not even a "performance bro".

Another bottle I’ve had for 25 years probably and never really used it after the first couple of years and now it’s just sitting with all the others. It’s a great scent overall but my tastes have changed to more citrusy and herbal scents, so it’ll likely continue to sit with the others, unless I eventually get around to listing them for sale or trades. I didn’t know or pay attention to anything or what anyone had to say about things back then and of course I likely didn’t have a PC or internet back then to do any research either! lol I’d just go to Macy’s where my friends mom worked the frag counter and I’d smell around and buy a few bottles a year of what I liked at the time. I have a full bottle and can share batch code if anyone has to have it since apparently it’s been discounted a few years.

Got a small (30ml) bottle a week before Christmas, due to its good price and the reviews read all over. An elegant oriental fragrance that features (on my skin) mostly its flowery spicy-balsamic-ambery notes, in this order. Less vanilic/flowery than Jaipur PH and more spicy-ambery than Jacomo for Men. Heliotrope, birch, incense and benzoin are also present but more in the background, giving to the whole a nice sweet-balsamic support. Pretty linear from the spicy semi-aromatic top to the creamy-ambery drydown, good for close encounters and cold weather on special occasions. My rank 7.7/10 ☣☣☣

It's a shame and a sad fact that this excellent perfume is discontinued. While it is warm and balsamic despite S.t Dupont pour homme, they have a common soul. I mean there is a trail of luxury and smoothness in these two which seems it is the signature of this luxurious house. Both smell velvety like their boxes. If I were in place of Dupont decision makers, I would not discontinue this perfume, maybe I would put one of the Dupont Passengers frags aside.

I blind bought a sample of this hoping that it would be like Lanvin's discontinued Arpège for men. Signature is equally powerful with good projection and longevity. However, the similarities stop there. This is smoky/incense juice, which is great for anyone who likes that. But I find it too pungent and aggressive a scent. Removing the cap was a struggle.

got a 5 mil bottle to try , just curious. pleasantly surprised how nice fragrance this is. has all the quality of some of the finer fragrances I have tried. the price point made me curious to try this one. I would wear this. worth a sniff. surprised that I have not run across this one before, I am sure there are many scents that smell along these lines. very nice and a worthwhile scent to try. got it very inexpensively. may consider a purchase. just need to compare it to some others that I have , but if I was just going off of whether or not I like it after sniffing it. then yes I like it. aromatic warm fragrance a bit spicy but in a good way. I would say masculine type , hairy chested ..lol.. would have been great for the macho disco dude. good stuff. still on the fence as to whether I need it.. I have these types already but if you don't have something along these notes it seems to be available reasonably on line.. I was complimented on it, I think would be a great fall winter type or a night out would bode well for this scent. I got excellent projection from it and my wife like it so that is always a bonus.. try one of the many minis I saw listed on line.. quality seems to be there..it does smell natural to me and pretty well blended.

@Mohammad Don't worry about what some single-minded witch says about the language you speak :) I myself speak three languages, and I don't care in what tongue someone chooses to express themself on the internet (we have Google translate for a reason lol) In all honestly nobody here, that's actually of any worth, really cares about your reviews being posted in another language. So that analogy was pretty dumb XD Don't be so narrow, let go of the fact that people post in whatever language they choose to. It doesn't do you any harm. AS FAR AS THE SCENT- can't say anything that hasn't already been said. Pretty sexy scent, I'll have to say. From an outside point of view, I smelled this on my friend years ago and it was SOOOO good. I never figured out what it was until I smelled it on another guy years later and finally asked him what it was. I bought a bottle ASAP.

Similar to Envy for Men, Devotion for Men, and somewhat similar to Carven Homme. There are a few others in this same range that I can't even remember at the moment (one of the Floris line?), but to me they can get cloying if you aren't in the mood for them. Take out the animalic/musky element in fragrances like vintage Brut and jack up the wood notes and sweetness, and you get something like these. Keep going with the sweetness but remove the lavender and you get Pi by Givenchy. They all tend to be quite strong.

@Arida: And why do you suppose that I read english..;) Just kidding:) Well you know some of the feeings or words can not be well expressed except in your mother tongue; just wanted to clarify..:) Anyhow; back to Dupont Signature review above; the smell is just like the smell of old herbal or spice shop with wooden shelfs and a lot of spices that I used to pass by when I was a child. So after several wearings, i can defenitely tell, that it smells almost identical to Cacharel Nemo! It's the same spicy vanilla scent as the Cacharel masterpiece. If you can get it for a low price, grab it - you will not regret it believe me guys. Sadly I think it's also discontinued :/

This is a very traditional male frag. When I bought it; it was a little to mature for me, but now I find it great to wear for winter evenings out. Cedar and Amber are evident as is incense. Really a good one to own. Not for everyday, but still highly recommended

This is a true signature scent, simple as this words, the best smoky indulgence, if you don't like it you must be weird!...
