S.T. Dupont pour Homme

A true pleasure to wear. In a world where aquatics are taking over, this one anchors you back to the ground in a simplistic 90's ideology of clean, green woodiness, showcasing a smokey rosemary buying for the lead. Men around 40 will love ST Dupont PH, though I feel it can be liked and worn by a younger crowd too. Recieved a sample of this from Fragrance Net, some years ago, and could never seem to get the smell (along with the fitting velvet packaging) out of my mind. Since purchading, I'm really starting to appreciate coriander more thanks to this offering. Perfect for early Spring and early Fall, this under the radar scent has been quickly moving up my favorites chart like a bullet. Seems the older I get, the more I enjoy powdery juices with floral backbones. If longevity and projection were better, this fragrance would be a 10/10. Still though, you can't help but not to like the 90's character presented here from ST Dupont PH. It's creamy, woody backdrop always keeps it in steady rotation when the outdoors season arrives. A "keep'em guessing" safe blind buy for GenX dudes. 9/10!

It has a very bright top note, I would say next to citric notes; within minutes I can detect very dirty, musky notes. It does not evolve much from there. It is not next to any other blend I know, be it the ones I have or the ones I tried, so it is quite unique. Bright, uplifting, the skanky notes makes it more akin to traditional fougeres. For those demanding sillage and longevity, STD demands overspraying, but I am afraid it won't deliver as expected because of the dirty accords - that would be too much. I also have the feeling it could be the right blend for hot days, light perspiration must bring it back lo life; it would be the right condition to test the complexity I cannot get from spraying it on skin. I have to admit I would get a big bottle to replace the one that I have, a 30 ml one. This is a keeper in my collection, regardless of its cons.

It took me quite some time to get used to ST Dupont pour homme but when I did I was ready for Cartier Declaration. I must say just like others have done so far tha they are almost the same, identical twins, CD being sweeter and STD spicier and more pineapple like.Even in quality terms they are in the same league, although STD costs a fraction of any Cartier. I am very happy they work for me just fine. Another good thing is that they are not so popular. One last thing STD seems to be more serious than Cartier's, not classier, just would go nicer in a more formal setting. Needles to go through notes and stuff, it is a first class fragrance done by a house I do admire. Dupont is not an inch behind.

STDPH is that type of fragrance to use when you don a suit, a nice tie and want to project some "sophistication", for lack of a better word. If STDPH was a person it would be somebody like James "Jimmy" Stewart: manly without trying, dapper, interesting personality, always composed and likable. It is indeed a refined and fresh aroma, rather complex with interwoven spice, flowers, and woods. It is similar to Cartier Declaration (I also have it) but less spicier and more floral: this one has a personality of its own and demands some attention to fully appreciate it. It lasts a good 8 hours and projects very well. Wonderful fragrance.

Update2: I read somewhere that one should at least try a scent three times before say NO. So I am trying it again, and I must confess ST pour Homme is not that bad after all, and there must be a pineapple note in there. I think it is not going to be recycled. The drydown, about 8 hours later, is subdued creamy vanilla. What a waste to have to wait that long for something so nice. But there must be people who like the coriander a lot.

The first male fragrance by ST Dupont, and their best as of today. Classic spicy/herbal/aromatic masculine. Not overly original, but delightful, for my tastes. On my to-buy list! 30+, Spring/Fall days

Every time I smell it I smile... Feels like kissing a young girl in a beautiful april day. It's bright, sunny, lovely. Brings back memories :)

The fresher version of declaration by cartier both were released in 1998! Although reformulation did tone downed this great classic scent.

I wasn't too sure about how high I would rate this little gem and wanted to be a bit serious about performance, smell etc. so I decided to pospone this review. But the result nontheless is about the same. As said below, it is a really complex blend where none of the elements particulary stands out, plus it's smoothness makes it even more difficult to dissect the fragrance. Starts a bit acidic and peppery, with a pronounced smokyness (although incense is listed in the base). Soon arrives the lavender and some clean floral notes which continue till the drydown. That first minutes might be a little odd but once the citric note is tamed what you get is a beautiful, elegant, smooth blend of floral (iris, carnation) woody (sandal mostly) and aromatic/oriental (rosemary, coriander, incense) notes. Comparisons between Declaration aside, what it really reminds me of is sort of a pre Dior Homme release (older brother maybe?), not only in its ambigious gender label but in terms of composition and even quality. The only downside is that it may fall a bit "flat" and performance sure could be better, but for the price asked... can't get a better deal. 9/10 ----------------------------------------- No estaba muy seguro de cuan alto calificaría esta pequeña joya y quería ser un poco serio sobre el rendimiento, el olor, etc., así que decidí posponer unas semanas esta crítica. Pero el resultado en sí terminó siendo el mismo. Como se menciona más abajo, se trata de una mezcla realmente compleja en la que se no destaca especialmente ningún elemento, además de su suavidad que dificulta aún más la disección de la fragancia. Comienza un poco ácido y picante, con una nota ahumada pronunciada (aunque el incienso se lista recien en la base). Pronto llega la lavanda y algunas notas florales limpias que continúan hasta el secado. Los primeros minutos pueden ser un poco extraños, pero una vez que la nota cítrica se domestica, lo que obtienes es una mezcla hermosa, elegante y suave de notas florales (lirio, clavel) de madera (sándalo principalmente) y aromáticas / orientales (romero, cilantro, incienso) . Dejando a un lado las comparaciones con Declaration, lo que realmente me recuerda es a una especie de versión anterior de Dior Homme (¿quizás un hermano mayor?), No solo en su ambigua etiqueta de género sino en términos de composición e incluso calidad. El único inconveniente es que en gral. puede quedar un poco "chata" y el rendimiento seguro podría ser mejor, pero por el precio en el mercado ... no se puede obtener una mejor oferta. 9/10

***Note - this review is for the Eau de Parfum Bottling of S.T. Dupont Pour Homme*** I received this a while ago from a great seller, but knowing the note pyramid of S.T. Dupont Pour Homme EDP, I was hoping for warmer weather before a full wearing (it has been cold here in Northern CA where I am at). However, I have been really wanting to try it, reading reviews of the EDT, etc. and opened up the nice box and classy bottle tonight - perfect condition! I am really impressed! Terrific fragrance - classy, very clean and refined. I get a wonderful top, some have mentioned of well-integrated florals (jasmine and carnation) along with some nice fig leaf (a note that I love) - I fully agree Nattonline! There is not much info on the Eau de Parfum bottling, but this is very rich and classy!! I noticed rich & nice green artemisia and rosemary blended with a refreshing cypress note that is also in the EDT, but the coconut note is not present at all (gladly - as it can be an off-note in fragrances for me). Coriander is nicely integrated to create a warm spiciness. Sandalwood, cedar, fir and white musk make up most of the base notes for me...again, more great clean and fresh notes - but with depth. This is a slightly spicy, floral, green and clean "all-business" office scent. I think it would be suitable for those in suits - I get a New York/Wall Street/trader-vibe from this...money. It is a daytime scent - you will stay fresh all day long. Very inoffensive, but more importantly...it smells sophisticated and clean. A lot of people compare this to Cartier's Declaration (in the EDT bottling), but I believe what I got is far superior to both S.T. Dupont Pour Homme EDT and, especially, Cartier Declaration. A lot of "off-notes" for me in there - a rather polarizing scent and one that I have discussed with highly-regarded reviewers/aficionados of fragrance. Cartier Declaration is not for me - Dupont Pour Homme EDP is fantastic. Also, as a true EDP, it goes on rich, has great longevity but remains a well-integrated skin scent for a long time. This is not too loud - it exudes sophistication, class and taste (as previously mentioned). I don't know how often I will reach for it, as it is a shirt & tie scent, but it smells damn good. Final score: 8.5/10, two thumbs up (with a strong "Like" rating) and a genuine thank you to the seller I got this from. A wonderful bottle of scent...!

S.T. Dupont Pour Homme was released in 1998 but is little known, despite being created by a House that exists since 1872, manufacturing luxury goods like pens, briefcases, travel bags, etc. In this case, the cologne demonstrates its luxury since the box – in a blue suede paper – with silver embossed texts. The bottle is also different because the lid doesn't come off as one piece. It hides the spray function and gives the idea of sophistication, like in the female version. Now, speaking of the fragrance, I will make a note in the first place: generalizations are dangerous in the world of perfumery! There is a real aromatic abyss between statements like: "they are equal" or "they are similar". And this is another one of those cases in which such claims can be harmful (or not, depending on what you expect). Most of the reviews that I've read, immediately equaled this one to Déclaration, by Cartier, what concerned me, because I already had a bottle of this in my hands and, at the time, I could not overcome the barrier of experimentation. May have been my mood, may have been many things, but I did not like it! I could only understand the complexity of this one some years later. However, it is impossible not to admit the similarity between them. There are so many equal notes in their compositions (iris, rosemary, coriander, cinnamon, jasmine, cedar, and vetiver). But, as I mentioned before, between "resemblance" and "copy", there is a huge difference. While in Cartier, putting aside the shared notes, we have notes of birch (in output), cardamom, ginger, and juniper, in the heart, and notes of cedar, moss, and leather, in the base; here we have galbanum and rosemary, in the output, geranium and lavender floral tones, allied to cypress, in the heart, and in the base, sandalwood, patchouli, musk, and fir, along with incense and coconut notes. The difference, in my point of view, is the creaminess that this fragrance has in its evolution, keeping the output that makes them so alike, due to coriander and the iris, but calming and getting less uncomfortable on my skin, due to what I believe to be the junction of sandalwood with coconut notes. The projection is median, but the lasting is very good. S.T. Dupont Pour Homme is a scent that I would recommend to the office, without fear of making mistakes.

I've been using Cartier Declaration for almost twenty years, it has grown into my identity over the time. That said, I cannot but love S. T. Dupont Pour Homme, it is a softer variant of Declaration, distinct birch and bergamot notes are missing, but at the same time Declaration's presence is obvious. On my skin it is quite intense, my wife feels it is very strong, but longevity is somewhat reduced compared to Declaration. I took almost twenty years to try it and now it seems it is going to become regular in my wardrobe, a worthy reliever to my Declaration especially during late spring, summer and early autumn mornings. A nice addition to any gentleman's collection. Update: I guess I was initially too optimistic. After using S.T.Dupont Pour Homme for some time I tried Declaration and now I understand how different they are. Initially they seem very similar but after some time Cartier Declaration starts demonstrating it's complexity and lasts long on my skin. S.T.Dupont Pour Homme, however, develops an oily diluted feeling, a kind of Declaration dilution with some unspecified petroleum component. Overall, it is acceptable, but I don't think I'll be getting it again soon. I like the bottle best, it is really nice and very practical when traveling.

S.T. Dupont. 1998 - Gerard Anthony’s child. For last ten years I used seven bottles and going for number eight. The story of my life. I never had Declaration, but I tried it (lol what a strange confession from a woman) and - despite my love to Jean-Claude Ellena why would I? I have got all I want in S. T. Dupont - cypress that I could only dream for, coriander and cardamom, birch and - lavender with iris on the bed of powder and musk. Or I have got a beautiful dry forest where birch-trees somehow grow together with cypresses, white cedars and firs and grass full of rosemary and artemisia - whichever miracle you prefer Ericrico, omervervaiz and Eros got it right in their reviews, those - who are still comparing S.T.Dupont with Declaration - didn’t get the essence of this fantastic fragrance. Unfortunately for them and - for the both named perfumes. Unfair - I would say. If I wanted more spices I would go for Yatagan, not for Declaration. If I would want to be snobby- bossy - Declaration then. If you want to be elegant, chic and - relaxed - money-maker - then it is S.T. Dupont. Smell of positive creative aristocracy. Someone who has got a beautiful story of life by himself and history of generations behind. Enjoy.

این دیدگاه دوم من در مورد این عطر هست که با دیدگاه قبلی فرق داره بتازگی من صاحب بطری 50 میل این عطر شدم. بوی اون با اونی که قبلا تست کردم فرق داره دیگه خبری از اون بوی ترش و تند و پیرمردی نیست. اونطور که متوجه شدم بعضی ادکلن ها، برخی از سری تولیداتشون بد از آب در میاد. کاربر Redbeard هم شاید یکی از همون نمونه های بد یا شاید منقضی رو تست کرده بود. در هر صورت رایحه این ادکلن بمانند برند داپونت رایحه ای لوکس است. برندی که لوازم شخصی ملکه الیزابت رو تولید می کرده البته قبل از ملکه شدن. برندی که فندک های طلایی اون قیمت های سرسام آوری داره. همچنین رایحه این عطر بمانند جعبۀ اون مخملی است. مخملی بودن و لافت رایحه از ترکیب بوی گل زنبق با نارگیل و گالبانوم حاصل شده. کیفیت کار بسیار بالا بنظر میرسه. رایحه این کار بسیار ملایم هست و از نظر دوام و پخش هم متوسطه البته فکر می کنم در بهار و تابستان بهتر خودشو نشون میده در واقع کاری چوبی گلی و معطر هست. نمره من به این کار 7.5/10 هست. اگر پخش و دوامش بیتشر بود 9.5/10

A herbal-floral scent. At first it's herbal then dries down to a floral scent. There are traces of woody notes in its evolution as well. I almost like it but I hesitated to buy it because there is something in it which gives me a sense of oldmen perfumes... I don't know maybe it is rosemary? Longevity is very good regarding its price. Sillage is moderate and acceptable. I think it can be used in all seasons. سلام دوستان بوی گیاهی و گلی و کمی چوبی بوی مطبوع و ملایمی داره و فقط دقیقه اولش بخاطر الکل یا چیز دیگه کمی تنده و الا عطر ملایمی محسوب میشه و برای چهارفصل مناسبه. ازش خوشم اومد اما نخریدمش چون یه چیزی توش بود که یه حس پیرمردی به من داد، باید دوباره تست کنم شاید بوی رزماری بوده؟؟؟ دوامش خیلی خوبه، پخشش هم متوسط و قابل قبوله. خلاصه کار کمیاب و خاصی هست و برای کسانی که مثل من دنبال ادکلن های تک و خاص می گردند انتخاب خوبیه ولی حتما قبل از خرید تست کنید. نکته: نظر دومم رو حتما بخونید که فرق داره

A la Recherche de l'Homme perdu Senteur 5/10 Achat aveugle en promotion. Que faire avec ce parfum de coriandre aux fleurs ? J'avais l'habitude de le porter par journée printanière ensoleillée, c'est peut-être une erreur... il en arrive à sentir les billets de banques. Parfum de banquier ? Convient assez pour un usage au bureau en tout cas ! Longévité 1/2 Ce parfum n'est pas très tenace, moyen. D'ailleurs, il est plutôt moyen en tout. Sillage 2/2 Modéré, ce qui lui est ici clairement un avantage pour un usage quotidien. Masculinité 0.5/2 Ce n'est pas avec ce parfum que vous allez pouvoir exprimer votre virilité. Usage unisexe possible à mon sens. Evolution 1.5/4 C'est un parfum plutôt ennuyeux qui ne s'améliore, ni ne se détériore avec le temps. TOTAL 10/20

The notes indicated here is very different from the notes on the tester bottle. Notes on a tester bottle of S.T Dupont Pour Homme: Top Notes: Rosemary-Coriander-Cardamom Heart Notes: Orris-Cedar-Birch Wood Base Notes: Heliotrope-Gaiac Wood-Musk Basenotes.net doesn't include pyramid of notes for this frag. Parfumo.net pyramid is different too. Dupont website again presents different notes formulation. So which one is more authentic??? Personally I think this frag has been reformulated at least twice and the current juice ingredients are more closer to the notes stated on the tester bottle.

In my view it is a great perfume from S.T dupont, i personally like it very much. It is sharp classic and mature. Gives a feeling of freshness and elegance simultaneously, different from most of the men's perfumes, opens with blast of lime and spices, then dries down into very calm floral woody tones. Perfect for summers and spring season. somewhat it reminds me of another great perfume i.e. Boucheron pour homme. Box is good but bottle is rather simple. Nice silage and average longevity! I give it 8 out of 10.

IS ok..I like it, I get the immediate similarity to Cartier Declaration, but with lesser sillage and short longevity, I have read comments in reviews here favoring this one instead of Declaration, but I will do the opposite and stick with Declaration de Cartier. Although this one was a steal since I got in on clearance online for $15 for a 1.7 OZ bottle. But well at the end is a good fragrance, nice bottle design, and the box is so elegant, I love the velvet navy blue paper.

I bought S.T.Dupont during the first year in college.I remember I bought because it smelled so fresh and at the same time so warming, bottle lasted for more than a year and I was getting nice compliments every single day.I am very thankful -'Bbjr' brought all of my college memories back by sending me a full bottle!!! It's 2015,15 years passed and I still recognize every single note in this scent,I didn't change at all!

I like the scent it’s clean and crisp and doesn’t smell too old man, however it would do so much better if it packed a bit more punch... don’t think anyone will get too many compliments/ wearing this but I enjoy getting the odd whift of myself and it’s very pleasant. A good cheap filler that adds to my collection without being remarkable

This is same Cartier Declaration line but not same. It's different character. S.T.Dupont pour homme is easy to wear than Cartier you can wear every where every time that you want it.Long lasting is average not bad and the price is cheaper than cartier. If you're love Cartier Declaration,you're will love S.T.Dupont pour homme too.

Bright, clean, effervescent, timeless, and inoffensive. Easy dumb reach. It’s short lived and not a great projector, which is fine for a quick refresher. A good cheap alternative to the Cartier and similar frags. Not a suit-and-tie fragrance, it’s more business casual at most.

S.T. Dupont pour homme.... It is similar to Cartier Declaration but not identical. STDPH is lighter, fresher, less spicy and slightly more floral. CD is a bit spicier and less floral. Both are excellent scents.

This is a summertime Cartier Declaration with 90% similarity. It has a lighter profile, cheaper and coconuty 🥥 supporting the summer vibes. I kinda like it. But smells a bit cheap. I mean it’s all right...

My mother and my older brother consider it as a female fragrance. Personally I consider this frag atleast as a UNISEX fragrance for sure. So you girls and women! Don't lose it!

yes yes, it's that cartier, as we already know. but actually this one's longevity and sillage is not that bad as some say. and it's stronger than rodriguez bleu noir. 7/10

Vintage mini. Very natural smelling woody scent. calming and refreshing at the same time. Getting mostly cypress, sandalwood and cedar.

S.T. Dupont pour Homme it's a very good perfume, long lasting scent, and very unique.

first of all, I can't see any similarities with the Declaration as many claim. You cannot compare its distinctive, notorious cumin/cardamom/tea combination with this. Dupont PH is not as bold as any Declaration flanker. It's a rather inoffensive, aromatic, easy-reach spring fragrance. has a pleasant green/floral smell. I can't detect the iris, but that classic chypre-ish aroma is there.o ridiculously weak longevity (2-3 hours) and minimal projection, therefore, requires overspraying and frequent reapplying. blind buy safe. may evoke nostalgic feelings for its release date, yet, doesn't worth the overpriced sales. nice bottle, horrible plastic lid. I would say the velvet box is much better than the scent itself. however, one good thing about it is that you should let it grow on you. maybe it's about the maceration/maturation thing, but after some time, you get to like it more than before. I will keep it in the fridge to test that. 6/10

Notes according to S.T Dupont website: top notes : coriander,cardmom,pepper middle notes:birch essence,iris,cedar wood base notes: heliotrope,musk,amber,gaiac wood I love this scent , it is sophisticated , woody , spicy ,green ,herbal ,little bit flowery, but its staying power and projection are so bad, have a big similarity with declaration, but declaration is more spicy , less floral.

Update !!! This is so weak! It lasts on me for half and hour - tops .......Not worth your hard earned money. Not even an aftershave strength. It's going in the bin and that's the first one ever to do so!

This is a subtle scent,not a strong 1 , and its subtleness is from the floral notes, recommended for office wear.

As someone having owned Cartier Declaration, I can honestly say that S.T. Dupont Pour Homme is a little closer to what I was expecting of it. With Declaration on me, the fragrance character turns to a sharp cumin/coriander aroma that... while interesting in its own way is NOT what I want to smell like. You can see my review of it for more details. Like Declaration, SDPH is complex. It starts off rather citrusy with coriander accompanying it, but then as it dries down you pick up lavender, iris, jasmine, patchouli, vetiver, musk, pine, and wood. They're all there, just waiting for you to focus on finding them. But just relax and you get this strong fresh citrus-floral accord. While this is marketed for men, it's much more unisex in character, where it should be called "St. Dupont Pour Homme et Femme." Well, after wearing this a few more times I'm feeling like this is more on the feminine side of unisex. The floral quality is actually stronger than I'd prefer. Now I'm wondering if I might try layering Cartier Declaration with this. ;-) Sillage is pretty strong. I gave myself two neck sprays and after 30 mins, I got into a car with several people. They instantly smelled it. It stayed this way for a good 2-3 hours more before backing down. Nice to discover this. I'm glad to have found this fragrance and can honestly say SDPH reminds me a lot of Declaration for the fleeting citrus quality it possesses. It is just a tad more feminine than I'd like, so I think this will be an infrequent fragrance for me. Sillage seems good and so is longevity. 7/10.

This opens with light but acrid herbal grasses, and it takes a while for the alcohol to dissipate. It starts to get a bit greener and sharper with maybe a little patchouli, and doesn't have the slightest amount of sweetness at all. While it doesn't actually smell like cigarette smoke, it accomplishes the same effect with dirty florals and tobacco leaves. For practical purposes, it's way too likely to come across as sweaty; the musty herbal barrage is unrelenting, and fetid wood develops later on to join it. I honestly wonder if my sample vial had gone bad.

LEATHER-JACKETED MEN AND HEAVILY MADE-UP WOMEN [Short Review of the vintage version] Dupont Pour Homme is a warm perfume and a fantastic time machine for travelling back to the first half of the 80s. When I smell this perfume, I immediately remember seeing Porsche 911s everywhere, trying out the first mobile phone, reading about the Cold War daily, going to the cinema to watch 007 films and watching in awe as the first PCs, Walkmans and VCRs hit the market (all of which have now disappeared). In the newspapers, I began to read the word Perestroika. John Lenon released the album Double Fantasy and was murdered a few months later. The radio stations filled our ears with Alphaville, Depeche Mode, A-ha, Blondie, Tears for Fears, Duran Duran and Pet Shop Boys. On any night out, all I saw were men in leather jackets and heavily made-up women. I don't know the perfumer of Dupont Pour Homme, but several sources indicate that it was Guy Robert, the father of Monsieur Rochas Eau de Toilette Concentrée (in 1969) and the first Gucci Pour Homme (in 1976). These are two unforgettable woody chypres with a similar olfactory line. I know of no other way to buy Dupont Pour Homme than by searching on eBay. As with some of the discontinued men's perfumes from the 1970s, its price has skyrocketed. However, remember that we can hardly smell many of the ingredients used in today's perfumes. Mysore sandalwood has long been a protected species and non-synthetic oak moss is heavily regulated by the IFRA. Many experts still claim that "Richard Dupont" is one of the best perfumes of all time. It's a conceptual masterpiece from a golden age, in the form of a woody Chypre. This perfume stands out for its elegance. It's full of herbal, woody, floral, soapy, spicy, mossy and slightly green and smoky accords. They all coexist in total harmony and the result is intense, full-bodied, clean and well-performing. I can hardly name a better combination of sandalwood and oak moss than I find in this fragrance. It has a vintage "Je ne sais quoi" feel to it, but it never smells old-fashioned. I'd like to mention that one of the nuances is a slight smokiness that reminds me of the smell of tobacco leaves. Perhaps this is the result of the love affair between oak moss and vetiver. I couldn't find a list of notes anywhere. I can only comment on what my nose finds. Forgive any mistakes, as it's intoxicated with so much richness. I sense a soft, warm leather base, some musk, prominent sandalwood, some amber, lots of oak moss, lots of lavender, the inevitable spicy citrus and elegant florals. In the florals, as well as the dominant lavender, there's green jasmine, earthy geranium and iris. There are also green spices scattered throughout the evolution. However, no note is blunt or dominant. As if its charm wasn't enough, this perfume is also an example of an extraordinarily balanced fragrance. It's a fantastic perfume for spring, autumn and summer afternoons and evenings. You'll be able to feel this fragrance in all its strength and richness. Who could have worn this perfume? Men like Bryan Ferry, John Travolta and Ayrton Senna... That would be my bet. My opinion: If you find a bottle for less than 100 euros, don't miss out. Music: "More Than This" by Roxy Music

I bought S.T Dupont pour Homme as an alternative to Cartier Declaration, which has been my favorite fragrance since early 2000s, I know all Cartier Decaration flanks, but L'eau, the Cologne and the original Declaration are my all time favorites. S.T. Dupont is not exactly similar to Cartier Declaration, it has some similarities, but one cannot take one for another. Although pleasant, S.T Dupont is sharper and unrefined, it has something piercing and soapy which can be a headache inducer to me. Declaration is a much more COMPLEX and well blended/ balanced fragrance. Cartier Declaration has an awfully harsh opening, but it lasts only about 5 minutes, then the lovely citrus blast takes de front stage and lingers for a while, until the spices bloom graciously for a good time, later, transitioning to the woodsy character with some light smokiness. S.T Dupont is a floral soapy fragrance with some spices. Cartier Declaration is a citrusy, spicy, woodsy fragrance it's the Masterpiece of Jean-Claude Ellena, it can be FLANKED, but it hardly will be cloned or satisfactorily duplicated. NOTHING available in the market for the past 25 years came close to Cartier Declaration. One can find similar notes here and there, but NO fragrance has the same complexity, the same quality ingredients and brings the same refinement of Cartier Declaration.

Very rich scent, very complex, multi-floored, BUT not depressing. Like a musical accord of a GOOD symphonic orchestra, playing mezzo-forte, meaning "moderately loud". Indeed, it has symphonic sound: loud razor-sharp (but not aggresive) attack, very wide well-balanced spectra of a middle tonality, and a green calm thin (not thick) final sound. Meanwhile it sounds like ... dollar looks like. Yes, printed dollar: sharp curvative b/w picture on the face side (main part) and a green, light picture on the back side (final note). This is for business man, for his work hours in office, to make right decisions in extreeme situations. Probably *not* for the opera or night show, not for seducing women (but who knows?...). This is perfume for busy style of making money. It is "money boss" or "chief broker". It helps to concentrate brain, while the main long note is a bit sweet. It's complexity can be a minus - sometimes it is difficult to wear it. Very easy to overdose. Advice: wear it only on odd or only on even days of month. Nearest analogue - Cartier "Declaration" (very close, less complex, without sharp start and green tail). If you dont need complexity and "snob-boss-image" you can also consider Paco Rabanne XS from the same creator Gerard Anthony - it is less complex and ... has a better bottle.

This does have something to it that's very similar to Declaration, but as others have said, it's softer and more "rounded." I also don't get a "synthetic" quality, as I did from Declaration (I sampled it a few years ago). What's really odd is that I sampled this first on the ankle and then on fabric. Both times I got such a sweet and powdery quality that I thought I might have the women's version (since the bottle does not say Homme on it). When I sprayed to the chest, though, I immediately thought of Declaration. It's almost like there are two fragrances in one here, the Declaration type and the sweet/powdery one. I like the contrast between the two, though of course not everyone might feel that way. I don't get any strong iso e super or irritating synthetic musks but I do think there is some soft/"laundry" musk in here, though not enough to bother me. Overall, a more wearable version of Declaration for me. What I'd like to know is how two perfumers created scents with the exact same key accord during the same year. Were they friends? Did one of them get "inspired" by the other's creation? Inquiring minds...

I'm very sorry that I made the same mistake again (Cartier Declaration smells like an exact copy of this! and it totally turned me off)! I'm very disappointed at what I thought would be my signature perfume brand (S. T. Dupont).. This is just too damn spicy, while the accords describing it here on Fragrantica says it's only half that... good thing I ordered Essence as well, that one compensated me for sure. Technically; while it's Razor-sharp at first, it really wears off really fast, and BTW, this is not unique, there are so many similar copies to it out there...I am so disappointed.. Sorry ppl that this is more of a complaint than a professional review but I'm just not happy with my favourite brand!!

A la francaise pour homme by S.T. Dupont Top notes rosemary, artemisia, coriander, galbanum and lemon middle notes carnation, cypress, iris, cinnamon, lavender and jasmine base notes sandalwood, fir, amber, patchouli, musk, coconut, vetiver, incense and cedar I enjoy A la francaise pour homme by S.T. Dupont, it has that dry, slightly sweet vetiver and woodsy smell of versace man. It seems to be the formal version of S.T. Dupont pour Homme. I only received my bottle 5 days ago, so I will wait to review.

Am I the only one that thinks this scent smells like fig and green?! Well, it was all figgy and green at the beginning like Ferragamo Homme. Then it becames cinnamony and curry-like spices (like Cartier Declaration perhaps?!). The base was a bit incensey tho, which was nice. There were absolutly no coconut. Overall is nicely sweet, quite rich and somewhat heavy. I would classify this as Oriental.

@ RobbieX, could it be that you got a bad bottle? I would rate mine moderate to long lasting, maybe even long lasting to moderate. The other day, I tested ST Dupont against Aramis 900 on the backside of my hands and it seemed to me that they lasted about the same, the edge going to Aramis 900 for sure, but not by much... Such a lovely fragrance, sorry it went this bad for you...

Reliable,Quality elements for Dupont Pour Homme.Not bad surprising and syntetich notes. But sillage and Longevity?Sorry but poor.This parfum's one negative element longevity and sillage. Nığt time short time using(3 hour maximum) very performance. As a result; try it ,good and cheap parfum,but not special and high performance excpectetion.

This one actually caught me by surprise. I really wasn't expecting much from this one as it was just a free sample vial I received with an order. But boy did this turn out to be a treat. A citrusy, soft floral aromatic backed up with creamy elegant woods. Absolutely classy and fantastic for late summer evenings and spring.

I have the special edition, I don't know if there are many changes, besides the bottle which is totally different. It's a nice, flowery scent, could easily be unisex. Don't see the resemblance with declaration, to be honest. It's a safe, spring or summer, office safe scent, although quite boring. Will not rebuy.

wow what an opening blast...artemesia is it??? who cares ,the opening is multidimensional and yes it does lose its way down to its base notes which to me seems a bit burn out metal....overall its a bang to a whimper fragrance
