Woah! Let us take pause, as I collect myself after reaching dizzying heights of excitement over this one. There comes a point in every perfume fanatic, where the usual perfume purchases have lost their excitement, and one begins delving into the back alley ways of "vintage", "discontinued" fragrances. What a game we spin ourselves, reaching for products that the public has already deemed inessential, hoping dark turn after dark turn, will lead eventually to a precious gem. Your heart's racing, mouth is dry, ripping into packaging like a kid on Christmas. So often, I find myself agreeing with the market. Sometimes it's interesting; sometimes it's retched...but every once in a while, you win big! What a rush, perfume junky as I am, to roll those dice. So, now that my feet are planted again, and I'm done swooning (for the moment - wink!), may I now introduce..... Canturi! This slammed me right out of the gate. Overwhelmed with its instant alchemy, my senses are set afire to an intense patchouli, whose spicy darkness seats Oakmoss and Vanille as co-pilots. Basenotes boasts white pepper and cardamom as well, and this seems perfectly inline with the opening. This begins on the skin very subtle, and crescendos the more it is heated. Absolutely sublime additions of vetiver, rose and cedar move in slowly, and at a pace most would not even recognize their entrance. They simply become present without pomp or circumstance, and integrate seamlessly. Neroli, bergamot, and Mandarin homogenize with an almost tea-time pungency. This is a kind of assertion that would be wonderful despite gender-role mentality. Even the dry down is angular and rigid; white florals mingle with amber and musk, like a campfire surrounded with snow. An unbelievable find for a poke into the ether. You will smell this on your clothes the next day, and wonder why there are so few that have sought this experience. It is one of the strongest demonstrable chypres I have tried in a very long time, and easily goes toe to toe with the greats, like Chloe's Nomade, Chypre Rouge from Serge Lutens, or Aromatics Elixir by Clinique. But, and this is the loveliest point, at a fraction of the cost! So, if you are feeling benumbed lately, by the humdrum of commercial replication, and are looking for a little action, look no further than the world wide web. With all its small shops and virtual flea markets, who knows, maybe you'll be the next to find greatness where you'd least expect it!

I just got this based on the notes that are my favorite- cedar and oakmoss- being a female, its hard to find these notes so that they are prominent but not too masculine. I love the aged feel to this- like an old Victorian trunk that held fragrant herbs. Could definitely be worn by both sexes with no confusion. Even though the note isn't there, I get a bit of tobacco. I bought this hoping it would be close to any of the naomi goodsir fragrances and I was not dissapointed. This is definitely not for someone who enjoys a sweet cotton candy type scent, but more for those who enjoy the smell of something aged by memories. The price was amazing, the sillage is great and the lonegvity so far is spectacular.Think of a cedar box that once held dried flowers, herbs and spices. It's been carefully stored for many decades but was exposed to moisture in the air that it absorbed into its contents.It strikes some memory in me that I can't put my finger on from my childhood- a very deep resonant fragrance.As you can see to the left- the scents people may like in addition to this are all expensive brands. This is a way to get that deep expensive experience at a fraction of the price. update- forgot to add that I owned encre noir hoping for this, but the vetiver in that is just way too organic and somewhat "human" in a bad way. This balances out so that everything just blends wonderfully.

Oh goodness this is a beautiful cypre. I'm going to need more time with it but I just had to say that I love it. For the notes it has im gonna guess the longevity is going to be great but not huge sillage but I'm not positive yet, it's just the guesses I have because of the bit of time I've had with it so far. So I've had her for a few weeks now and... I use it weekly. It has become a comforting scent, which are my favorite kinds. Idk why this doesn't get more love but I'm ok with that. It is an absolute gem. imo. It's just as beautiful as the bottle it comes in. It has a vintage feel to it but not a "grandma" vintage, not that fragrance has age limits. I was pleasantly surprised that I can smell the vanilla alot more than I thought I would, also it isn't as dry as I had originally thought it would be. I have fallen in love with her for sure. It's sweeter than I expected as well. All of my expectations that were incorrect I'm happy about. I grabbed this at the last minute and I am so glad I did. The rose here is beautiful and everything comes together wonderfully. I don't get much white florals but imo the wood notes rose, vanilla and patch are the stars. If you're like me and trying to find a fragrance gem around every corner, give this gal a try. I seriously doubt it will be a regret. 🌹

This is the first fragrance released from the Australian jewellery design house of Canturi. It comes in perhaps the most exquisite bottle I have seen, a work of art in itself evoking an oriental/art deco feel. This would be a beautiful adornment on any dresser for sure! Although classified here as a chypre floral, to my nose it is more a classic oriental. Opening for me begins with a medley of citrus and spices although I note no spices are listed. The floral notes are well balanced with the amber and patchouli. The oriental feel I believe is mainly attributed to the cedar/oak moss base. I like this offering from Canturi enormously. It has been released here in the Australian summer, and I would happily wear it during the hotter months, but ideally would suit winter. It keeps drawing me back to test it mainly because the staying power is not great so I can't be with it long enough to fully appreciate it. Still, this is the only draw back as far as I can see.

This perfume!!! It makes me feel like a woman with presence. Like... my shoulders feel a little taller and broader when I wear this. The opening is kind of strange but it quickly changes into this green, woody, mossy, watery, beauty of a scent. Like, dampened wood with some moss on it. The moss has some pink roses and Iris growing on it. Then sprinkle with a little clove. It has just the slightest hint of vanilla that adds a subtle creaminess to it. It’s beautiful and very unique. I do think a man could pull it off. I will say that one day I was spraying and one of the black lines started to peel. I went to take it off and ALL the rest of the black lining came off with it...LOL! But who cares! At this price... this is a steal! I wore it hot weather it is was fine, I’d imagine it shines the most in fall and winter. But I think you could wear this any season.

This is a very nice spicy woody warm fragrance. I've had this scent for several years & it just gets more fragrant. I was interested in the man Stefano Canturi himself. A jewelry designer that is inspired by geometric design, cubism. There is an excellent You Tube video of an interview with him (Canturi Jewels Channel). He made this fragrance to create as he described a magical potion representative of the cubism era ...a mood of confidence, a rich spicy feeling, boldness, mystical & meditative. I wanted that bottle mainly at first...it is a piece of art. Thank you Stefano Canturi it's beautiful & I love it. *He also designed a necklace & ring for a "jeweled" Barbie...The most expensive Barbie in the world at the time...it was auctioned for charity🩷

The spicy top notes are a bit overpowering the first hour or so after spraying but let it settle and it softens into a beautiful, sophisticated floral. You'll literally fall in love with your skin. When I have it on I can't stop sniffing my arm! Longevity is amazing at 10+ hours! It really won't suit everyone but don't let the pungent top notes scare you, under the surface... it is magic.

@Yes Malena’s review is the only one that resonates with my experience of this scent. As for the spicy note of clove: have you ever wanted a perfume that smells of Tiger Balm? This is it. It starts with a clovey, camphorous blast for me but then settles down into something smoother and a little sweeter. I love it and the bottle is gorgeous.

This may well be the most complex, compelling fragrance I have purchased to date. Or it could be that I am new to chypres and don’t completely understand them yet. Admittedly, I was initially drawn in by the gorgeous, Cubist design of the bottle. It’s really beautiful and very fitting being that this is the sole fragrance release of a jewelry designer who seems to have an affinity toward Art Deco design. Canturi transports me back in time to a Jazz Age apothecary. I think the roaring 20’s not merely based on the visual cues, but also because the feeling I get is an herbal medicinal vibe, before anything extremely synthetic would have been around - so not what people in modern times may consider medicinal. Have you ever had a Moxie Soda? Setting aside the pervasive animalic sort of history of perfume, for the layman that I am, this feels to modern perfumery what Moxie is to modern sodas - more herbal, more natural, and it cures the common cold! Okay, it may not be a tonic, but this is awesome. And at the time of this review, a 100 ml Bottle can be had for less than $20 on eBay. It’s not going to be a crowd pleaser, and in fact isn’t anywhere near being a daily wear for me. Canturi actually took a little living with and getting used to, but to me it has become the kind of hidden gem that doesn’t come around very often. It’s unique, and I’m betting on discontinued. Additionally, I am grateful to the previous reviewers for easily convincing me this should not be marketed solely to women.

I picked this up on eBay for a price I couldn't resist. I'd read all the reviews and thought there was a good chance I wouldn't like it. There are notes in this I desperately want to like, but that have so often disappointed me in other perfumes. Fingers crossed, I sprayed, leaned in for a sniff, and...mmmmm. I agree that this has masculine elements, but for some reason, I can't stop leaning in to smell it on myself. It just smells clean, fresh, and natural. I'm reminded of my husband's soap, but not exactly. It's far better than that. I'm three hours into my first wear, and I've enjoyed every stage thus far. I've smelled a lot of perfumes, and have found a bunch that take a while before they reach their sweet spot. I understand that sometimes I'll need to exercise patience before judging a fragrance. That gets tiresome, though, and there are moments I want instant gratification. Canturi provides that gift. I have no idea what impression this would give to someone else smelling it on me. It's definitely unexpected. EDIT: I've worn this twice now. It's quite strong and can be overwhelming. I plan to dilute it a bit to see if that helps. I still enjoy it, but at this strength I imagine I wouldn't be able to wear it often. SECOND EDIT: My husband caught a whiff of this and loved it. It has since moved into his scent collection. One spray in the morning and I can still smell it on him when he comes home. A great value if you like strong fragrances.

Got a 100ml bottle at an almost criminal price from Fragrance Rack. The bottle is truly gorgeous; it has value as a piece of artistry. I took a spritz and the alcohol dried off leaving an oily tint. I am not familiar with using perfumery terminology, but this is a through-and-through chypre with some warm spicy oriental facets. In the opening, a few elegant citruses and white florals shimmer above a vanilla-ey chypre base. Rather quickly, most of the top and middle notes recede back into the base to create a sweet rooibos accord. The aged cedar, heavy oakmoss, enveloping vanilla, and ripening rose give the rooibos a rich structure, while the patchouli and vetiver gives it an acrid tint. The color of the rooibos is a dark red. I think the particular choice of cedar in this composition makes for this feel. The fragrance also has a backdrop of cloves(eugenol).The perfume stays like this until it dissipates. Just to note, I do not smell actual rooibos, but the notes smell a way that constantly reminds me of it. Also, the perfume seems to react negatively with my skin and throat. I will have to see if this irritation persists. The fragrance never feels sweet, and its sillage is modest, longetivity quite decent. It will grow better with time. And thus ends my 1st impression of Canturi edp.

I bought this totally blind. I have become a chypre lover ...and this does not disapoint. The bottle is awesome and the scent is fantastic as well. It does lean masculine/unisex. I get greenness fore sure...a vintage vibe. Woody/cedary...yes...underlying "citrus" somehow. Smoothness. It changes on my skin upon different wearings. Sometimes the sillage is BIG, other times more subtle...???...very interesting. Overall, I am happy to own this..and enjoying it more and more. Like I always say: " Be patient, get to know the fragrance, and let it get to know you...". Spend "time" with the scent. This one is becoming a favorite friend to me.

Wow, I could smell tobacco in this. I was handed a test ribbon, i thought it was a bit eucalyptus as first but I decided to let it dry before I tried it again. The drydown is of very powdery, floral chypre, musky and elegant. Although it reminded me of White Diamonds at first, it still had it's youth. It wasn't cursed with an old lady, toilet spray smell, it was still very pleasant, to put it simply. I would give as a gift to a mature minded woman, not necessarily of any age, as a 'new' thing to enjoy, something out of their comfort zone.

This is what I imagine a well dressed middle aged woman under sunglasses and scarf would smell like. She walks past you with moderate pace yet determined steps in her 4 inch heels, with no hint of doubt as to her destination. Canturi opens with the smell of lipstick. Excellent perfumery btw, ingredients are all singing in harmony. Projects moderately. But that lipstick scent lingers on for the first hour or two - then it becomes a total skin scent by then. As a man who wears anything, I think I will pass on this. Too much lipsticky sweetness to endure.

Rose, moss, patchouli, vanilla and a subtle mandarin is what I mostly get out of it. In the base, the patchouliesque mandarin still lingers, supported by a woody benzoin. It might be marketed to women, but results totally unisex in my opinion, because of the strong moss note and a hint of freshness. Average performance. It's a beautiful chypre, and the low price tagon ebay (~$20/100ml) allows for generous spraying. The beautiful bottle design doesn't hurt either. A love for me. Colder days, women 20+, men 30+

I am really disappointed that I can't smell this the way everyone else seems to be able to. I don't get any spice. It's almost entirely an extremely camphoraceous patchouli undergirded by cedar. I can't even smell oakmoss--at least not in the say I'm used to getting it. The citrus combined with the patchouli and some sort of clean floral note ends up making Irish Spring on my skin. So sad. I keep coming back to it ever so often, but so far I don't get it.

Beautiful and balanced, Canturi opens with a sparkling, translucent mandarin with an immediate foreshadowing of the rose-patchouli accord that intensifies in the heart. The perfumer, Kevin Verspoor, shows admirable restraint in this composition, allowing elements to breathe and have space, demonstrating a true appreciation for nuance. The accords show evidence that he draws from history, with a nod to the great Chanels, Guerlains, and their brethren; a classical approach. We find the floral heart notes seamlessly transition into woodier elements: an impressive crossfade into vetiver and cedar, the latter of which is polished and smooth. The cedar note alone is really lovely; not a splinter to be found. There is the accent of vanilla as well, a mere glaze, an icing, not a whole cake. It really is that good. And it can be had as of this review for under $40 US.

Canturi, on me at least, is spicier than the notes here reflect. I have trouble noticing the white floral aspect. Canturi is sweeter with more citrus, and Zino is muskier, richer, and more herbal, but they do remind me of each other. Both seem to me complex woody patchouli fragrances with a dark floral side--plus a lofty, ambient type of vanilla. Maybe they make a nice romantic pair? A strong, woody, oriental perfume, with hints of clove or some penetrating spice, but then it's also delicate and sweet. Performance seems varied, like it has its own moods or something--not really one I can count on to even smell the same from time to time. The bottle in person looks clunky, unfortunately, though the graphic lines are striking. Just wanted to add-- it's nice, the balance between warm spice and reserved coolness.

I bought this as a blind buy based on a review by a gentleman that gave it glowing marks, and he said this was his signature. His review, sadly, is no longer posted. I was intrigued by the cedar, as I love cedar. This being said, it is an okay scent but it is very manly. I gave it to my husband not mentioning it is intended as a woman's perfume and he loves it. This definitely a man's perfume.

Very interesting and extremely pleasant fragrance. It’s been a shape shifter on me. Each time I wear it I get a whole new experience. For instance, I’m getting a beautiful clove waft, and I absolutely hate clove. But this is addicting. Yesterday, was more of a neroli/vanilla/wood vibe, which I liked as well. All in all, a fairly safe, non-offensive, pleasant perfume.

I just adore this, elegance in a bottle. It is very similar to Coco Chanel on me, slightly more modern. Has lasted beautifully after 8 hours and my shower.warm and spicy, just divine.

I enjoy the bottle design but not quite sure if I like it. I'm new to the cypre scene so I'm going to have to sit with it and come back to this.
