Stella Peony

I have a tester of this. For Stella lovers, this is basically what we know and love about our beloved Stella, but without the rose and the underlying sweetness of the amber. The peony is at the forefront (obviously), whereas with Stella original, the peony is definitely there, but the rose is way more prominent. Peony also has more of the pepperiness, and cedar and patchouli as the base. It's definitely a different vibe, but still with the Stella DNA. I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. I think I'll have to test this some more and in warmer weather to make a determination. The longevity, projection, and sillage is a joke though. After about 3 hours it's almost gone on me, just a faint remnant of a skin scent. I would consider the exorbitant prices that Stella original is going for right now because I just love it so much, but I'm not sure if I would do that for Peony. EDIT: July 4, 2023 Ok I purchased a 100ml bottle of this, as well as the rollerball and love it. I can see what people mean by the plasticky smell, but that fades away like 10-15 seconds after spraying. What settles is this spicy yet sweet peony scent. This is the spiciest of Stella's creations. To me, Stella original is beautiful, flowing, sensual, and romantic. I reach for Peony when I'm feeling spicy and more action-oriented. It's definitely the other side of the same Stella coin since it's very similar to the signature Stella scent, just with the peony cranked up and a lot of pepper sprinkled on top. A very beautiful spicy floral. It smells simultaneously fresh, yet also slightly warm and sweet (although I cannot pinpoint what kind of sweet note it is...) It is more herbaceous and woody, rather than a floral bouquet...but the flower is there, like 1 or 2 pink peonies set in the center of a zen forest garden. I think this could work in all seasons. I am currently wearing it on a very cold day, and the cedar/patchouli/pepper seems appropriately festive--reminds me of Christmas pines and spiced drinks--yet the freesia and peony could probably also do well in warm spring or hot summer days, too. There is not much development as the first hour reflects what I will smell on my clothes the next day...but there is a depth that I keep enjoying when I catch the scent. Makes me feel casually sophisticated and energized. It is most suitable as a day fragrance. I could wear this to work, but I can also see myself spritzing it before/after a workout due to its transparency.

The original Stella was my signature for a long time, until recently, when for some reason it started to project like crazy on me and was overpowering my nose (no doubt hormonal). So, I’d relegated it to a winter evening fragrance. The EDT is a go-to Summer scent for me, but I needed my old Stella back, the one that I could wear to work year round, the one that was “me” Well, along comes Stella Peony. YES. This is the Goldilocks version: just right. The peony tempers the Rose-and-amber-combo tendency to lend a sort of soapy, masculine tinge to the fragrance (which was what was popping out on me big time and giving me headaches) while retaining the classic aura of the Stella we all know and love. Over the course of the day it blooms and the rose comes through more and more. I never tried Stella In Two and I’ve heard a lot of comparisons to that one, but I will say that as far as I’m concerned, this is my new favorite Stella.

Oh I spent years trying to find this new edition of Stella’s Peony! I was so curious whether or not it would be similar to the Peony in two and guys...it’s pretty much the same scent!!! Which made me very happy...except one tiny detail: now it feels super synthetic. I will be honest with you last time I wore Peony in two was ten years ago, so I don’t know for sure if they changed the ingredients for cheaper synthetic ones or maybe it’s just that I smelled so much more other fragrances (including niches brands and boutique lines), so that my nose is more demanding now. But the scent itself hasn’t changed and I’m keeping my bottle for sure! ;) reminds me of my youth😊

This smells like the original Stella McCartney to me. I have an OLD bottle of Stella, and Peony and that liquid smell remarkably similar. Yes, there is more rose in Stella and more Peony (and geranium) in Peony, but the base is very much the same. Peony does not have the tenacity of Stella, but, like I said, I have an old bottle of Stella...before reformulations. It's the rich, gorgeous rose that launched me into fragrance-love...the One that started it all. I take out the gorgeous amethyst bottle every once in awhile to treasure the liquid, which still smells exquisite. I may buy Peony because I enjoy it very much, but it is not as special as Stella, to me.

I enjoy this one, mainly because I do like the smell of fresh peonies in the garden. They are one of my top floral scents. When I first put it on, it is spicy and woody as well. However once it dries down it tends to lose some of that complexity and mostly just smells like peonies. Personally I'm fine with that because I don't want the pepper or wood to overwhelm the peony scent. If you like the smell of peonies straight up, this is probably a safe blind buy for you. If you are expecting something more spicy/woody, you may be disappointed. It has light sillage and moderate lasting power, in my experience.

Almost a decade ago I bought a 10oz roller of this scent. Some spilled in my eyeglass case where it lived for some time. For so long, every time I cracked the case the pretty notes emerged like friendly fairies. It projected delicately from my rx sunnies & it was pleasantly addictive. I'd huff & I'd huff. The small bottle stuck around forever. When it finally vanished, the fragrance was way harder to come by. I hope to eternally be reminded of Stella Peony with my remaining stash.

Stella Peony is absolutely my favourite perfume! I was literally addicted and am so sad to not be able to find it ANYWHERE? I’ve searched and searched, I don’t see anything about it being discontinued or any comments made on this matter... which is confusing. I really hope it makes a comeback as this was my signature scent!!! Im dying without it, dramatic I know. But that’s truly how great it was!

I imagine this is what a supermodel on the runway smells like...she is alluring and only has seconds to hypnotize and make people want to double, triple-take. This fragrance had that effect on me when I first sampled it. I get half peony, half black pepper and it is LOUD AND STRONG. When the scent dried down hours later is became pure peony but before then it is so spicy!

Peonies are one of my favorite floral scents and Stella Peony is peony done in the most perfect way. It's spicy, but not at all sharp. The dry down is so cozy and fresh and the geranium is DIVINE. It makes me want to curl up with a cup of tea out in the garden. Stella Peony does share similarities with the og Stella, but I see Peony as the sassy younger sibling. ;)

The best peony fragrance on the market. My wife used to wear the previous version of it named "In two Peony", but now they cost a lot of money. So, for those, who's looking for that scent - I definitely suggest the new Peony! It's even a bit fresher, brighter and longer lasting. And the price is much affordable! Wow!!! This is a beautiful delicate feminine fragrance. One sniff and I want you Stella Peony. I don't just want you I have to have you. Reminds me so much of the original Stella which I adored. I absolutely love the bottle for it's gorgeous coral colour. Can't describe the scent except to say it is perfect.

This is so elegant, I sought out to buy it albeit at a high price because I believe it is discontinued. But I love it. I knew it by a sample, and boy, did I squeeze that sample. I just had to buy me a bottle.

Just got the new version EDT. Love it, love most Stella's perfumes. She's the queen of rose perfumes, the only one who manages to make it light and modern enough for my taste.

I'm disappointed that they discontinued this perfume, as well as the original Stella. It was my signature scent for YEARS. It's elegant and playful at the same time.

Bought this for my mom for Christmas. Blind buy, but she loves Stella , but loves patchouli. Huge hit. She loves it. Great lasting power. Chypre-ish

this was avaiable in Vienna Austria Douglas shops in mid September 2017, it immediately caught my attention, smells lovely.

An unbelievably gorgeous peony!

I have a sample. --- At first spray, it's a lovely, fresh peony scent with that green note of crushed stalks or leaves, plus peppery notes. As it dries, the cedar comes out, dry , mixed with the other florals, powdery watery , especially the lotus note, which for me gives it a vibe of high-end floral shower gel. The peppery notes are just right in this one, and make it more than the usual pretty peony scent. I hope this one manages to last more than one hour on my skin. If it does, it's one more scent I would wish to add to those "spring morning, wake me up with both energy, freshness and cosiness" fragrances, like Noa, Gap Close, CH212. Perfume is personal, and you may not read this one like this. It's more of a pink-ish scent than the previous ones, but still airy. I also enjoy the way the cedar is developing here. In my experience so far, this is an undulating scent, coming in waves, alternately watery soapy, then airy floral with peony, then cedar waves, then pepper. It makes me feel nice. I like it less when it goes soapy, I like it more when the peony mixes with pepper and cedar. Not a love, but a good like. UPDATE: as it dries out, the soapy note disappears on me, and I get mainly the enjoyable (for me) mix of fresh powdery peony, soft pepper notes and dry cedar. Getting more enjoyable as time passes. Waiting to see how long it lasts, maybe could become a love if it lasts long enough for me. UPDATE 2: it's been 5 hours and it's still going on, though as a skin scent. Very nice. I would like it indeed!

As a fan of the original Stella In Two Peony I was excited to hear it was coming back. While it is incredibly similar, it is not the same, despite them saying the formulation hasn't changed. To me, the new Peony has a slightly plasticy note. The original was richer and smoother. It's a shame because I can't really smell this without yearning for the original. This new Peony is pretty and highly wearable day to day, I will just have to get used to it I think! Edit: the more I go back to testing this the more I get the smell of superglue. (It hasn't gone off). It really isn't pleasant. I don't know what they've done to the formula. Also, how can they claim this is the same as Stella In Two when the former and the latter have different 'noses' who created it?

Quite pretty, but not the most realistic peony fragrance I own. L'occitaine Does it better and it's longer lasting. Somewhat tacky bottle... not as nice as the Stella with the translucent purple fade with clear strips at the side. That bottle is surprisingly elegant and well thought out. This is the brightest colour in my classy collection. Stand out and not in a good way. Low spillage, poor longevity It's ok Edit: it's been a few months and I've found it lasts better than I thought, especially in the cold. The sillage is low but I keep getting whiffs of it... My nose doesn't begin to ignore it, so that's nice. Very like a light version of a Narciso musky floral. It's good enough.

I bought this as I loved, as still have a little, Peony in Two and this was marketed as a reinvention of this. Like many reformulations, this is not as good as the original and so, while pleasant enough, it always pales in comparison. I rarely wear this and still lean to my Peony in Two. The beauty and balance has been lost in the reformulation, and while all the right notes are there, it has become a rather ''samey'' perfume that has lost a lot of the original's charisma.

Fresh, green peony and geranium. It opens sourly and sharply with hints of citrus. The bitter edge rounds out slightly as it wears on. In the cold of winter, It fades quickly and only has a moderate silage with heavy spraying. The bottle has a dark orange spotted heat-shrunk plastic wrap on the bottle. While the bottle has some heft, it seems cheaply done.

humid summer test I love the stella edp in the purple bottle, plus the edt, this is much the same and lovely. its not quite as rosey and floral as original the dry down I thought was a smidge sweeter, but ive been out all day in this stinkin heat, ill bet it performs differently if I was in a cool office perfectly nice, go try, not offensive I don't think

I do like this fragrance but with my nose i found the cedar super over powering, I didnt even know the notes of the fragrance when I tested it, and it instantly reminded me of my rabbits cage wood shavings, which are cedar, its beautiful but not for me sadly

Fresh cut flowers in harmony with a light touch of patchouli. I would describe it as a tea-in-the-garden scent but without any of the Victorian cliche. It's a drier, more modern take. It's pretty but smart, well-balanced, polished. Very nice!

Lovely fragrance. Smells strongly of peony the first hours and then the cedar comes along and the peony fades away. I usually don ́t care for Stella McCartneys scents but this is both simple yet pretty. Well put together I think.

Peony is my favorite flower, but I feel that no perfume can come close to the real thing. For me, this is a boring, average floral. I feel like I've smelled it a hundred times.

First blast of super sweet freesia.... sickly sweet really, immediately followed by peppery woods. The oversweetness is still predominant a couple minutes later, very cloying, and it gets in the way of the softer florals trying desperately to get through. Luckily the sweetness fades and takes some of the peony's power with it, leaving behind a fresh soft floral that feels like it's not going to stick around for very long. I'll have to see. Ultra feminine and best for cool weather. I wouldn't want to stand next to all that saccharine headache-inducing sweetness in the heat of summer. 6+ hours later: Still faintly there if I press my nose into my skin.

Reminds me a lot of Peony&Blush Suede, which the original Stella does also even though it doesn’t have “peony” in the name. I prefer Jo Malone over this, but my very favorite peony scent is (the affordable) Peony and Peppercorn from Banana Republic. It’s softer and gentler... something in this frag (the amber note, maybe?) is a bit harsh for me. If I get my nose right up to my skin, I get more peony. Mostly though I find this perfume a bit too sharp, and also kind of boring. It’s a pass for me, but not a “hate.” This is a basic perfume in the best sense. Worth a sniff if you get a chance!

I was so excited when this was released as I loved the original Stella in Two Peony. But I was disappointed by this fragrance. It was different from the original but it still did smell really nice. My issue is that it did not last long at all and was way too expensive for something I couldn't smell even an hour later. I finished the entire bottle and only received a compliment ONE time. I always had people stopping me when I wore the original. I know it's not all about compliments but I couldn't smell it either! Oh well, I'm glad I tried it.

So interesting this one is for me. I LOVE peonies- fresh cut, in perfume, I'll take 'em however I can get 'em! When I first sprayed this on, I was blasted by the white floral citrus combination which at first whiff was like dead flowers left in icky water too long then cleaning the vase with lemon scented Dawn. But I let it settle, ever hopeful, and it did mellow out. The peony came through but is muddled by the white florals and the geranium which I think is a note that needs to be very judiciously used. I do not think the geranium adds anything here. Disappointingly, on my skin, I never got any pepper, amber or patchouli accords so something about my chemistry is causing me to miss out on what might be the balancing elements to this fragrance. The drydown only accentuated the floral and amped up the cedar. To me, it was just 'perfumey'- sort of like the Clean Reserve Amber & Warm Cotton makes me smell like a Bounce Dryer Sheet. It's just not distinctive or interesting and certainly doesn't hit my Peony spot

I bought a roller ball version of a new Stella Peony to compare it to my beloved Stella In Two Peony. I still have and treasure a bottle of the original Jacques Cavallier's masterpiece. While there is a similarity between two, they are different perfumes to my nose. The peony note is turned down in the new Stella Peony and it is less pleasant, feels more synthetic. What I can smell the most is the base of cedar, pepper and patchouli. I wanted to get rid of the roller ball bottle, but decided to keep it and try layering with other floral perfumes. So far I quite like Elizabeth Taylor Gardenia sprayed on top of Stella Peony.

Well my search for a peony scent continues. Sadly this isn't it (for me). On my skin this is a slightly sour rose. No peony at all. It didn't last long either, just a couple hours and was gone. I'm jealous of the folks who get peony from this!

Flowery, clean and fresh. Very pretty until the sour note kicks in and makes it quite unpleasant on me. Then on top of it, after an hour, I detect almost nothing. So sad..

I'm sorry, but this is more Rose than Peony. I do not like it at all. Headache inducing scrubber.

It's a no for me but will revisit again in the Spring and Summer next year

IMO, the bottle is not as pretty in person as in the ads. Its completely opaque and more... orange. This beautiful ombre effect is, alas, completely lost in real life. You know how Stella original bottle is ombre glass? Well this one is ombre film, not as pretty as glass would look. A bit clownish for my taste, reminded those hideous Stella Summer bottle from 2013. Anyhow, as for the scent itself.. I am not familiar with the Stella 2 in peony, so I cannot tell if the new offering, indeed, is the old formula. For me, it was very very similar to the Stella EDT - the earthy green note, you know what I mean, right? For me Stella Peony is rather earthy and aromatic and green than airy fresh and light. I liked it but I did not love it enough to buy it right on the spot. However, it is very very very (yay!) long lasting and is there - not loud but very elegantly and calmly so for a long long time. The dry down is where its at. I am debating which size to get but I will be getting a bottle. Very curious to know if this one is old formula of Stella in 2 peony. I tried Stella Peony at the SM store in SOHO, NYC.

Since converting to veganism i have been desperate to replace my beloved perfumes which may be tested on animals due to global brands selling in China etc. YES I am aware that Stella Mccartney fragrances are produced under license, but they are not available in China and therefore none of the ingredients are derived from animals or have been tested on them! This is a lovely light floral suitable for spring. A very authentic peony with some warmth and spice, it lasted much longer than I expected - close to 12 hours. The sillage was soft but I kept getting gentle breezes of this even the next day! The fragrance is office friendly and hard to dislike, if a little 'middle of road'. If someone gifted me this, I would be happy!

As a great lover of Stella I bought this at a very low price just for the curiosity. Well, I have to say this wasn't a bad bargain at all! At first this was quite strong and I thought that oh no... but after an hour it turned lovely, girlish floral and wasn't I relieved! This resembles a lot the original Stella, but still they have their differences. Some reviewers have mentioned Kate Moss and yes, I agree with them. And some have mentioned Miracle, which I disagree.This is a sort of mixup of Kate Moss and Stella . Freesia is one of my favourite flowers but sadly I do not detect it here. Rosy this definately is and Peony is there too. Pachouli and cedar comes forth after 30 minutes. One spritz goes a long way!

Im the happiest person on earth when i know that stella reproduce stella peony as im the biggest fan of stella in two peony and i wanted to buy the latest stella peony but im still contemplating as i did my research here some said that the new stella peony is 100% similar to the old stella in two peony and some said its not similar at all. So i kinda need opinion and maybe more review about this new stella cuz i have to buy it online cuz its not available in my country. I want it to be worth buying of its really has the same exact smell like the old one. Helpppp. Xoxo

Sampled this from Sephora as it smelled very nice from the bottle. Got it home, spritzed it on and mmmmmm....yummy peony with some spiciness from patchouli. A few minutes later I smell my wrist and wait a minute...I know this scent. I can't place it at first, but then it strikes me that it smells very much like my Narciso Rodriguez For Her L'Eau. Not an exact dupe as L'Eau has a definite LOTV note, but beyond that difference they're extremely close. Stella Peony is fairly linear, never changing much from the musky peony-patchouli opening (I don't pick up any cedar).

This is 100 percent my spirit fragrance right now and I have been so meta lately...I feel like this fragrance perfectly captures the random and positive bursts of creativity along with professional success I've been having in my life recently so now I own it :) I love how i feel everything Stella set out to illustrate in this fragrance, as described in the fragrance's description above. On an olfactory geeking-out note: It is as accurate to the designer's described vision and therefore the most elaborately artistic scent has that I have yet to encounter.

I usually like peony fragrances so I was expecting to like this one but meh... I'm not sure why they decided to name it Peony since this is absolutely not what this perfume is about... There is peony notes in it dont get me wrong you can smell it, but let's say it is absolutely not the star of show... it's burried under peppery and woody notes that makes this perfume on the edge of being masculine, when usually peony perfumes are quite feminine and delicate... at least that's my experience... it is not a bad perfume it's just not what you would expect...

I like the regular Stella, but Peony is all cedar and pepper on me unfortunately. I really want to like it (I blind bought a rollerball set with this and normal Stella) but I have tried several times and it’s not for me. At first spray it is really sharp, and it stays really woody and almost masculine on my skin. I get no fruit or freesia, no smooth amber. I don’t sense the patch, but if it’s there it is the sharp medicinal kind. There is the barest hint of peony but overwhelmingly cedar, cedar, cedar and a little more cedar.

I received a sample of this from Sephora I think and I cannot get enough of it! It is strong, which i love about it, and smells like pure peonies on my skin. Doesn't last very long though and I am having a hard time bringing myself to pay full price for it. They don't carry it on fragrancenet.com so I am trying to wait until I find someone that wants to sell their used bottle perhaps. I am not working so funds limited. Great smell that I hope to own someday.

This was my signature scent for a year. It smells formal and incensy. The sandal drew me to it, and the heady dark rose Peony opening made it so uplifting. It smells similar to rosary beads in a cathedral where incense are burning. There’s even a waxy smell like candle wax. It becomes a skin scent pretty quickly, so perfect for tight quarters. I adore it but I think I’ve become a loud fragrance girl so I’m seeking something like it but with more silage.

I have the Stella duo rollerballs and I am quite impressed with this one, being a lover of peony. The black pepper note listed almost scared me off, but so far on my skin it doesn't translate as pepper thankfully. It's floral and woody, kind of sharp but also sweet, totally a professional fragrance. I'm impressed. If it lasts in the summer heat I will probably blow through this rollerball and get the FB. Projects more on me than Stella edp does.

I'm hunting for a predominantly Peony fragrance, so I got a sample of this one. I love Stella McCartney's Rose fragrances, so I though I would like her Peony fragrance. I was very wrong lol, so glad I didn't blind buy it. It has a strange rubbery smell on my skin, and I don't detect Peony at all! The cedar and pepper overtake it I think. What a shame.

The pepper, wood, and patchouli notes suffocate the delicate peony in this perfume. It softens on the drydown, but the peppery opening is not my jam. I'm glad I purchased a sample before buying a pricey bottle of this discontinued scent. I love Stella, but this is too harsh to be a replacement. Buy a sample before taking the full bottle plunge.
