2022 Generation Homme

Wow, this is divine on my skin. I was worried after my paper sampling as I was picking up that dry, slightly terpenic/alcholic note that pervades many Bonds (it's overdosed in NY Oud, NY Musk, NY Amber, Harrods Agarwood to some extent...a few others too) as well as many other brands' niche scents (one example: Colonia Intensa Oud), but thankfully while present and noticeable throughout, it always manages to smell like part of an accord. In fact, I think this note is what makes the scent not only radiant but also distinctly masculine and gives it a bit of an alpha character. So what does it smell like? It opens with a dry, almost astringent, and bitter yuzu (something like the way yuzu is rendered in L'eau d'Issey - also think Kinski/Sulphur or even Citrus Paradisi's grapefruit, which might be closest now that I think of it), immediately flanked by a spicy note that melds into the yuzu and anchors it, effectively becoming the lower register of the yuzu accord. I am quite sure that nutmeg is the prominent player in this spice accord (and I think it's nutmeg that is abused in some of the scents listed above), but as mentioned the spice really feels like lower octave of the yuzu, and it also acts as the bridge to the oud. Immediately alongside this yuzu/nutmeg accord is a very rich accord of black currant and "whipped vanilla with cinnamon" - no doubt the peru balsam at play. The olfactory hue of the accord strikes me as fluctuating between a dark and rich malbec and a royal purple, with green threads tying it together, and the 3 dimensionality of the accord allows shadows of olfactory black (the oud!) to fill in the gaps. It is quite sweet and very rich, and quite similar to the currant/sweetness accord in Xerjoff's Richwood except here it is rendered with much more lift. That aroma chem that is kind of nutmeg-like and kind of like rubbing alcohol (sounds horrible, I know, but it works) really pushes the currant/cinnamon/vanilla creme accord to the periphery of the scents olfactory space and this makes it so much more wearable and enjoyable than if it were to suffocate under its own overindulgent weight. The scent has the vivacity and almost electric like character of say, H&G Askew (or Molecule 01), but juxtaposed against a rich and classical core that could be found in a Guerlain or one of the better Xerjoffs or (ugh) a Roja Dove. The scent doesn't change much as time goes on, and given how beautiful and perfectly balanced the whole thing is, for once that doesn't bother me at all. The yuzu accord persists long after the yuzu itself has burned off thanks to the way the nutmeg/oud/sandalwood and labdanum? continue on. I always see that kind of olfactory illusion - extending an accord such that you continue to perceive the accord as the original material even though it has long since burned off - as very creative, intelligent perfumery. In the late dry down the spicy woodiness backs off even further and a surprisingly nuanced peru balsam takes center stage. It still manages to smell multi-faceted and almost 3d even 8 hours into the wearing, and that is quite a feat. The spices never disappear completely though, which keeps the scent from ever feeling like it falls apart. No, it starts out almost preternaturally rich and befitting a person in a position of power (lame description I know, sorry. it's late and I'm exhausted) but settles into something that is a fair bit softer, just as charming, but definitely more inviting, as the day wears on. Perfect to wear to the office with no need for a shower and change of scent should you have a date or something else more romantically minded immediately afterwards. Overall the primary hues of the scent I get are a rich multi-hued marigold (hints of bright yellow against a much darker and richer golden orange base), purple and dark burgundies along with some rusty reddish tones (the combination of cinnamon/nutmeg) over a backdrop of black, and a sort of ethereal, airy green thread woven throughout which is thanks to the black currant, which is definitely a nice dose of real black currant absolute. Ok, that was a long winded description that did a poor job of actually capturing the essence of the scent. I haven't written much about frags in such a long time that I've gotten very very rusty at articulating my perceptions. Projection is very good (not quite monstrous) and tapers off in a slow and wonderful fashion as the day carries on (no Journey Man foghorn to whisper here!). Longevity is excellent. A perfect blend of rich classicism and vibrant and luminous modernity.

The fragrance I will be talking today is one of not many in my collection or amongst I've tried. 2022 Generation Homme is inspired by Qatar that has very strong heritage but also has a very vast modernity in development. Stephane Humbert Lucas wants to reflect the ancient aspects that lives hand in hand together in the futuristic modern world. If you are a fan of Marvel superhero then the capital city of Wakanda Kingdom called Birnin Zana (The Golden City) is the perfect comparison of this interpretation 😎. 2022 is a woody dominant fragrance composed from very strong traditional Cambodian Oud. The oud is mainly woody which is dark and mysterious. Contrasting fruity note of blackcurrant gives touch of sweetness. Fresh yuzu lift and prevent this fragrance from becoming too dark. These two notes surrounding the composition so harmoniously as support giving a very modern and contemporary feel resulting in a very unisex scent. This fragrance initiate serious and confident attitude for the wearer and project powerful aura for the surrounding people. For me it acts like an armor that serves it purpose to support my mood and activities. Somehow it awaken my inner warrior spirit within 🥷. I will wear this whenever I want to turn on the beast mode inside for achieving intense workouts training. It also works wonderfully for getting job done, making important decisions or closing a deal because I feel I can slay every single target when wearing it. Hopefully my description do the justice for this amazing fragrance and I highly recommend everyone to try as a workout or office scent. #vscentorientreview

While the concept isn't new (sweet and freshened up oud scent), the particular take on it is rather unique. I don't think I know another oud fragrance that paired with a strong black currant note. Also, mint freshens it up and yuzu surprises you with fruity sweetness and rosy overtones (as some people have mentioned). Very well blended and excellent performance (not too strong, not too weak). If I smelled this blind, I would assume this is a new release in MFK Oud collection (who made some excellent takes on smooth, dark yet fresher oud). Really well done, very wearable and versatile oud scent. a must try! If you like MFK Oud collection and are looking for something more unique, this could be it!!!

Best Oud scent - full stop. Super super smooth pungent oud wrapped and blown out with balsam the black currant noticeably darkening the scent even further. Super super natural. Wearing it is like being the bowling ball in a crowd of pins knocking everyone down as you walk by... I have seriously no idea how reviews below even think to suggest Rose is in the scent, even as a description - IT DOES NOT SUGGEST EVEN A MERE COMPLIMENT OF ROSE!!! 🤦♂️ This, together with the fact it’s SHL777 is why it’s so much better than average - infact take Guerlains Oud Essentiel and replace the ROSE(lol) with black currant and there you go...

Stephane Humbert Lucas has become one of my favorite perfumers. 2022 Generation Homme is just another skillful display of his master blending techniques. The fruity top notes of mint, yazu and black currant mixed in with the wood and spicy accords brings this perfume to a whole new level. It's fresh, woody and spicy nuance makes this perfume one of the most intriguing and facinating men's perfume on the market. A must have on your collection! 2022 Generation Homme (Qatar) from Stephan Humbert Lucas is in my top3 fragrances from this French House. This is unisex, cold weather fragrance absolutely opulent and seductive. It's woody heaven mixed with black current and smoothen by Peru Balsam. This was love at first sniff and recieved many compliments when wearing. It's more a formal scent that gives bold statement. It's fruity western non animalic oud with small hints of rose. Overall great longevity and performance.

A wonderfully seductive, comforting fragrance. The currant is juicy and delicious, darkened by the oud while still being freshened by the yuzu. It's a nice contrast that helps make this very wearable. I see this as a great date night fragrance or being dressed up for any nightly occasion. Not a casual scent, but easily unisex and most any season except maybe times of high heat. Another winner from SHL in my book, one I find myself liking more and more.

A lovely Oriental full of warmth, sophistication and masculine radiance. This scent combines a central note of Cambodian Oud in this one with notes of Yuzu, blackcurrant, mint, spices, and balsamic notes. The scent reflects an opulent Middle Eastern opulence transposed with modern elegant masculinity. The scent has moderate to strong projection and very good longevity. A unique, dry, almost translucent and sweet Oud based scent. Enjoy!

I was so impressed by black gem stone I had to add this one. It's impressive and very black tie or special event worthy. I do agree it lean more on a feminine side. That said this develop so much and project immensely. I'm not a big fan of anything that not sweet but there always room for improvement :) yuzu kicks like Bruce Lee/ it's sharp / and dry down powdery. Heads up please don't blind buy lol :)

Definitively not a safe blind buy It’s not your typical oudy fruity fragrance, but rather a very sophisticated perfume with masterfully well blended real oud and dark fruits. Very masculine, and more for a mature successful man, not a young teenager or student Elegant fruits and the oud is in the background but present at the same time Please smell this before buying Peace

Yelp. Now I'm gonna be down a new rabbit hole of obsession with this house. This is simply fabulous in my opinion. Unlike any Oud I've ever had. There is real mature sweetness here, roundness, creamy, and something dark and cool. It's divine. 9/10

Luxurious. Gem-like. Persian Royalty. This is what Darius the Great might have worn. Regal. Perfectly sweetened. I assume that a lot of time and work went into this brew. More about mood than function. Alchemical. Dank. Craftwork!

This is a beautifully blended and intoxicating perfume. It's sophisticated, elegant and seductive. My 3 P's - Projection 7/10 - Performance 7/10 - Price 6/10

This stuff is on a whole different type of level! Amazing

My experience will be based with the black bottle version that does not have the golden yellow front edges and has stamped on the front: 2022 GENERATION -With the usual tiny gem in the middle of the bottle logo. -Very yellow glowing (almost a touch of fluorescence) metallic zamac cap. I am quite surprised that nobody mentions ISO E Super as the key component of this perfume! It has a ton of it from the beginning to the end. There is a subtle vanillin opening followed right away by a short-lived fruity undertone, but the composition flattens right away in its Oud+Iso E Super final form. I wrote oud, though the right word should be: patchouli-woods accord, or perhaps a recreation by Firmenich or Givco. Something is telling me that this is more the case with most reformulated oud fragrances. I have used it probably 3 times so far, so I will allow the fragrance to macerate and hope it gets more complex although I don't have high hopes for it. Back in 2016 I remember the wow factor it had on me while I was in Harrods, where I did experience a more balsamic and fruity opening with a sharp citrus introduction and an oud-vanilla dusted perpetual dry down. The oud at the time was more on the middle eastern side with more animalic nuances and king like presence (regal). The reason I bring back a comparison is because I suspect this fragrance has been reformulated throughout the years as well as rebottled/remerchandised differently (my bottle is 13J280). On a positive note, I have to say that in the dry down, it manifests an absolute elegance and exudes confidence, sexiness and a black suit and tie characteristic. If you liked Straight to Heaven by Kilian you will have no issues overall with this one. It is still a good fragrance if bought on a bargain (mine was £65 XD), however it is not worth £250+ here in the UK. The reason I like it overall is that I wanted an easy western-oud fragrance to wear year around for any occasion. In my research I did find Francis Kurkdjian oud lines too powdery and vanilla heavy (too bi-dimensional). Luckily, I have a good chemistry with ISO E Super and this surely contributed to garner a lot of compliments in the few times I wore G2022. Blind Buy? No. Retail Price worthy? Of course, no. It is an ok fragrance with a strong woody skeleton. Perhaps way too much ISO E Super and lacking an engaging evolution. Once my bottle runs out, I will resume my research for an oud non-boring fragrance once again. EDIT 19/09/22 During a walk by the riverside, my wife kept commenting how strong it was (3 sprays from the bottle). Without knowing the palette, she described it as a very masculine, oudy, balsamic (she imagined the tree resins) and sweet night fragrance. Fun fact: I thought it completely vanished, while actually it was leaving a heavy sillage for hours. Be advised. :D

This is 1:1 with Arabian Oud Kashmir. I own Kashmir, and comparing the two side by side, I literally detect next to no difference in scent profile or quality. The opening bouquet of fruits, smooth woodiness, and creamy vanilla and rose vibe is present in both fragrances. I would say that 2022 Generation Homme is slightly, only SLIGHTLY fresher. Kashmir transitions more quickly to the base of oud/rose/vanilla, whereas the top notes linger for a little bit longer in Generation Homme. The oud is also a bit more readily detectable in Kashmir, and the overall aroma is a bit heavier. Still, the differences are miniscule at best. It is a great smell for sure, kind of like a fruitier and denser Silver Mountain Water with oud. And of course, the Stephane Humbert Lucas came first (2013), while the Arabian Oud is from 2019. But the value proposition is clearly in favor of Kashmir here. You get no loss of quality or really even presentation, since the bottle, box, and sprayer for Kashmir are superb. This is a nice fragrance, no doubt about that. My advice, though? Spring for the Arabian Oud. 7.5/10

Interesting Oud scent - not only does 2022 contain an Oud accord, I'd say the whole scent has been cleverly constructed to resemble meta Oud. What do I smell? Top: Black currant fruit, a hint of rose, lychee, yuzu without sourness. Heart: Fresh, smooth Oud, vanilla cream, cinnamon. Dry: Iso E cedar, tree resin, sweet balsam, chai. The first hour of 2022 is beautiful - fresh, fruity, slightly green and rosey. However, this scent begins to experience some trouble in hiding its woody aromachemicals after the first hour, as they begin to powerfully project on my skin during a warm night. It remains a linear but pleasant scent for hours to come. Performance is great. 2022 has good projection & fantastic durability (~8 hrs). This is fairly concentrated & potent juice. Overall, 2022 has a top of fresh fruits and a bottom of spiced woods, being a clean take on approachable young Oud which performs well. Best worn in cold weather to reign in the woody base. A great smell, and would be an easy recommendation if not for the moderately overvalued price tag.

بوی چرم و زعفران بعلاوه نوعی عود که جدیدا مد شده شروع کننده استفان هامبرت 2022 هست . این نوع عود، حالتی چرب و خامه ای و کمی شیرین داره این عطر مقدار بسیار کمی فضاش من رو یاد سانتال رویال میندازه . حالت دودی و تندی نسبی که در اوایل عمر عطر وجود داره، انقدر خوب بالانس و نرمال هست که شما به راحتی می تونید نفس عمیق بکشید بدون اینکه حالت خفگی بهتون دست بده . کمی که از عمر عطر میگذره دیگه اون لطافت نسبی هم که در اوایل عمرش حس می کردید، ناپدید میشه و عطر فوق العاده تلخ، و دودی میشه . یه ترشی نسبی در عطر وجود داره. و در نهایت عطر بیشتر تلخ و دودی میشه که با نوت های اسپایسی که دقیقا معلوم نیست چیه، ترکیب میشه و اون حالت چرب و خامه ای مانندش تبدیل به حالت خشک تر میشه . انگار یه چوب سوخته رو بو میکنید یه همچین حالت خشکی داره . قیمت عطر با کیفیت عطر همچنین همخوانی درستی نداره ولی کار ارزنده ای هست مناسب زمستان و استایل پوششی رسمی هست به خاطر قوی بودن عطر، توصیه میکنم اگر به محیط های بسته میرید کمتر اسپری کنیدش تا خود و دیگران رو در این محیط ها اذیت نکنید .

Just got the blind buy bottle, I would say average. Too expensive for the price, was looking for real natural barnyardy oud this one is not. Opens with a cleaner, laundry scent, it’s like walking pass by a dry cleaners with the dryers running hot. Black currant is there, Yuzu is mix in there with them creates a Ribena black currant juice with lemon vibes. Dry down is more about vanilla. To me there’s almost no oud in here. Maybe a bit of but always not sure. Unisex all the way not masculine nor feminine right in the middle. The ingredients here are top notch the longevity is about 8-10h and silage is strong but not nuclear. I would rather go with ADP oud intense. Extremely pricey for the scent, need sometime with it.

Dark woody-fruity. It is very tart and seems fit for the spring and fall. I will say I enjoy the smell of ISO E Super and black currant in the opening. A balsamic-vanillic sweetness comes in later to counteract the synthetic woody oudy base. The woods can come across a bit sharp here. But I think the ideas presented here are likable. At $110-$140 at discounters, this is a solid fragrance worth sampling. Absolutely not worth retail prices. 7.8/10

I actually love wearing this one to the gym 😄 It smells super clean and easygoing on my skin, nothing heavy or overwhelming. Sometimes I even get this cool fountain pen ink vibe, mixed with a really soft, classy woody touch. Projection and longevity are just right too, noticeable enough for me, but not gonna bother anyone around. Perfect gym buddy!

A good enough fruity oud that starts of tart with a hint of sweetness and real oud that's not animalic or challenging at all imo. Sadly the performance especially the projection is pretty bad. It lasts a while on my skin but barely projects at all. It is more versatile than most strong oud's tho and fresh enough to wear year-round

All I get from this is Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa Oud, which is great, but I would be remiss if I didn't address the price difference: Acqua di Parma is $210 for 100ml vs 2022 Generation Homme, which is $340 for 50ml.

Same strong woody note in the base as Aventus for her, this time paired to a rosey blackcurrent note. Feels unfinished. The first 30 minutes are nice, but then you reach a sign saying "under construction".

It's fresh, juicy (fruity), sweet, and creamy; it actually reminded me of Ajmal Silver Shade (which is much cheaper)

Starts with warm, light florals before settling down into a soft woody blackcurrant emanation. The lingering base notes smelt like sweet musk. Overall, a very smooth and velvety lasting presence. Would recommend this for getting attention around the office, after work drinks and semi-casual affairs.

So this opens with a blast of oud and something that smells like Ink. I’d consider the opening to be moderately unpleasant. As it dries down, it enters the black afgano territory - but without hints of sweetness. This is only my second experience with Stephane Humbert Lucas - with the first being mortal skin - and to this point, the quality of the bottle has far exceeded the quality of the juice. I can see this being worn by a middle eastern gentleman, but I find it hard to pull off in the United States. If I’m being honest, I would consider this to be borderline horrible. Like mortal skin - the inky note with the oud just seems really offputting, strange and unwearable. I think I’ll stop testing this brand now.

Synth generation, in the swollen wake of the renowned Terroni, Boccanera etc. but with a "lighter" hand. It is a bit spicy, fruity, woody, metallic, chlorinated, citrusy, ambroxed and tinged with tolu balm in the finish. Step.

This is a fragrance for those who have an appreciation for oud base fragrances and probably wouldn't appeal to the average person who likes the oh so common and boring citrus and mainstream synthetics that are all so common place today. I happen to develop over time an appreciation for such things as this and spend a lot of time creating similar scents so with that being said I really like this and have a hard time deciding if I should where this or Erba Pura by Sospiro so when I'm in the mood for a more formal scent I reach for this but just to proove I can shut you down ill grab my Erba Pura by Sospiro. These are not that similar due to different citrus notes and spice but both are very crisp and complex. Longevity is measured in days and silage is great. Projection varies (big opening and lays average until body heat brings it back full blown) never dies though, it stays present. If you got it, get it worth the buck to me.

This is terrible! Right off the spritz, I smelt sweet rose, although rose is not in the list of ingredients. It smells like an Indian Pan shop, or Indian Saree shop. Where its cloyingly sweet, and smells of sweet cloying rose petals and some spices. Very Indian / Asian smell. I hate oud it smells of damp wood, I don't know how people like damp wood smell. You wouldnt go into a house full of rotting wood and say ahh what a lovely smell, you would say open the window and get the dehumidifier out. Rotting wood, cloying rose, and damp, hemp sacks and an cheap incense stick burning in some corner with spices which are known carcinogens. I was so looking forward to this, and wow lucky I bought the sample, that was £10! Im just glad I didn't shell out the £235 they want for this. I can go down to the Indian Panwala and smell like this for 50p. YUK! I think this should have been named 666 instead of 777.

As a big fan of SHL and owner of 9 bottles from the house now, this is the first one that's been a resounding "meh". I only vaguely pick up on a non-specific fruitiness in the top that I guess is the black currant and yuzu, with basically none of the mint. Fades quickly into a natural smelling but unadventurous and flat oud that isn't bold enough to be noteworthy and isn't smooth and done-up enough to smell like a thoughtful or appealing oud accord. Performance is abysmal for the type of scent this is - almost zero projection from the moment of application, no longer even present as a faint skin scent later into the day. It isn't terrible and it doesn't smell bad or anything, there's just no reason to own this. Judging by basically every other review I'm actually kind of wondering if my bottle is spoiled or something.

You wanna Hawaiian Punch? Well, this opens as if I spilled a pitchers worth and its filling my nostrils. This does settle down, Beavis, not to worry, falling into place with a black currant and mint and foreshadowing of the "oud." The falling into place eventually turns into a falling apart at the seams and the only thing holding this tragedy is a shoddy stitch of Iso E Super. The oud base feels much like the pre-made ones I've examined from IFF, Firmenich, Givco, and the like, overdone and overbearing, but mercifully not too loud. It matches the aesthetic of the house, down to their ghastly, garish bottles. This one is taking a one way ticket out of town on the "nope" train.

Relatively pleasant unisex fragrance which for me leans heavily to the feminine with what smells like rose to me. In fact the more it settles some of the spice burns off and the rose gets heavier. So it goes from a , hmmmm this could be quite a nice fresh day time fragrance with some interesting depth to a : phew not heavy on the rose again thank God I did not spend money on a sample and instead went to Harrods and covered my arm in it. Now all i have to do is wash it off! Fragrance: 6/10 --8 if you like rose or you are a woman. Projection: 8/10 Longevity: 8/10

So far I’m very disappointed with this one. My review is based on the black bottle with gold edges and a diamond on. The smell of this fragrance is just AMAZING, but talking about the performance I really don’t get it. Please help me understand it better: Does it last? Yes and no Does it project: NO None around you will notice it This is really frustrating, especially after spending 250 euro for 50ML Are we paying the bottle here? I’m used to wear Nishane perfume and the performance here are not at the same level. Anyone feeling the same?

It opens with a fruity burst bubbly camphor with the dark sweetness of blackcurrant, with the light and bright acidity of yuzu as if this mixture is fermenting and warming the fragrance; with this warmth it goes to a balsamic center permeated by a slightly smoky woody fruity 'oud, there is nothing fecal here; culminating with the arrival at the base of an amber/vanilla aspect. Fruity, woody, balsamic, amber perfume. Very good, another SHL that I liked.

This is the best representation of Cambodian oud I've ever come across. There is a underlying powderiness about it that makes it a little sweet for the first few hours, but the mid is all about the fruity Cambodian oud with at touch of spice and suede, smelling it too close might be a little strong and sharp, but when you catch an unexpected whiff from its sillage you will be in awe of how beautiful it is. So remember to give it some time to develop.

Laid back, smooth, detect fruity bonbon in the opening bground, humble somber, firm but balanced, balsams, Ouds and spices are not loud or pushy. Refreshing dry, an everyday pick for the few years in genre collectors and wearers, love hate for tenderfoots. Great casual, personally consider it the third musthave, less special/unique from amongst Blackstone Gem and Mortal Skin and so makes for a perfect spectrum cover trio.

If all the roses used in fragrances smell like this I want them all. This put a smile on my face after a tiny spritz from my brand new bottle. What a terrific blind buy. It's creamy, and on me I get a gourmand vibe veering on chocolate paired with oud. I do not know about longevity and sillage yet, but by me repeatedly smelling my wrist, it sure is a keeper.

It's a bit citrusy in the opening , totally get the yuzu and the black currant ! in the dry-down, it gets a little bit more balsamic and warm ! it's inviting and it really lasts (on my skin ) ! i get more then 8 hours with it !

I'm a woman who wears men's scents from time to time, and this one smells absolutely incredible on me (I actually get more compliments when I wear men's scents!). It's not overly masculine but smells fresh, clean and spicy without being overly oudy/animalistic. I'm in love!!

Fruity yet "dusty" and peppery scent, a little like a fruitier Eucris springs to mind, much more refined and rounded than that though and the opening is quite different (very juicy sweet yuzu). Somewhat linear and not the best performer in the world but a nice scent.

یک کار ملایم، تلخ و مرموز با رایحه فوق عالی. اونایی که با بوی یوزو آشنا هستند می توانند بوی اونو در این اثر کاملا استشمام کنند. یک بوی تصفیه شده و زلال از یوزو و انگور سیاه. در مجموع کار تلخ، مرموز و باکلاسی هست. پخش بو و مونگاریش خوب به بالاست.

This one was good, but wasn't for me and I ultimately sold it. I had a decant before buying a bottle too... I think the berry note here uses a fixative of some sort and it just wasn't for my palette. Very high quality perfume.

Fragranza ottima e davvero particolare dato che non è una profumazione che si sente comunemente. Perfetta per abbigliamento elegante. Peccato solo per le prestazioni non eccellenti

Love this. Interesting. Unique. Lovely. This is def unisex tho. The “for men” advert and packaging is confusing. 100% unisex. Ladies, don’t snooze on this. 10/10
