STÉPHANE HUMBERT LUCAS Ô’Hira (2014) Totally unisex One of the best Amber scents with very unique SHL’s dna - this is a little bit balsamic, warming and calming, even spiritual. It’s a little bit smoky and earthy and the whole composition feels like it’s wrapped in heavenly honeyed veil. What makes this different from other SHL’s spiritual creations is the extraordinary warmth. Many of his scents has colder tones compared to this one despite of balsams and resins. I would describe for example Black Gemstone and Mortal Skin with a silvery spark and O’Hira has definitely a golden shine over it. This has as well an animalic side which some people may find intimidating. I think it just makes this more gorgeous. What comes to the notes it’s not easy to find some exact list and in many sources has been mentioned only “Fossilized layered Amber”. This is anyway quite complex scent with many different nuances and that “Layered Amber” hides inside a hefty dose of different notes. Those are changing along with the weather and warmth of the skin. •Gently leathery undertone from Labdanum •Woody notes •Pyrogenic Styrax / Tolu Balsam, dark and rich balsams and resins here are undeniable bringing that extraordinary warmth together with •Cinnamon •Tonka bean and torrefied Vanilla •Musk which turns into a little bit dirty direction (it’s subtle though) so there might be Castoreum as well. Here's my actual review of Ô Hira. The fragrance is built around “fossilized amber” and this makes perfect sense. My first impression was that of honey. This is a rich, sweet, gentle animalic fragrance. Ô Hira smells like the warm fur of something alive, like a majestic golden-furred stag with grand antlers. That being said, Ô Hira leans slightly feminine on my skin, but most certainly has the backbone of a masculine fragrance. So i'm placing this at unisex-feminine. The animalic scent to this somehow doesn’t clash with the formal, expensive vibe. This is the perfume to make people perceive power and wealth. A tailored suit, a sleek hotel room booked for two. Not the kind of thing I’d wear, to me it's a bit too much for daily wear. It’s more like something you’d expect to smell on someone charismatic, dressed to the nines. To me, it is perfect for a date, a high-stakes meeting, or a moment when you want to be remembered. It's a deeply seductive golden elixir, yet tender and calming like a warm hug. This is the scent to impress, to seduce, to close deals or open doors. Ô Hira smells expensive, but whether it’s $530 to $715 expensive is another question.

this came in the mail right on the day of eid and i wore it to the mosque, which i dont ever go to anymore. i only went because the timing of the prophet Mohammad scent arriving for the muslim holiday of the year felt like idk allah was tryna tell me something.... it was such a beautiful wearing experience. now to the scent itself. i get immortelle. its not sables or a clone or anything, but the affect of the honey from the amber and the savory marine ambergris creates this herbal seaside immortelle shrub accord. but way pulled back in its vibrancy and flavor. it is far from dull though. that restraint communicates sophistication for sure. the girls i work with were taken aback by how luxurious and sumptuous it smelt to them.. It smells high quality and full bodied and magnificently nuanced. This one’s sweetness is softer and translates as more mature imo. The best amber I own well it’s up there with the best Pro tip: the price is insane and I only own it bc of a YouTuber selling it for insanely cheap ($150 isn’t cheap but for this it is) but if I couldn’t get it for this price I’d get Uruk by Anatole Lebreton. It smells just as ancient and expensive

Might just be the best resinous fragrance I've smelled. I didn't know what to expect from Ô Hira based on its notes but I didn't expect to like it this much, this is a real masterpiece. The way the labdanum blends with the frankincense and a mineralic finish from what SHL says is saltpeter is almost entrancing. I get a honey-like smell from this, especially during the opening, most likely from the very rich and deep ambers, as well as a touch of cinnamon, which makes this quite the likeable fragrance. An absolute gem and a fragrance I'm looking forward to retrying soon, I'll explain why. I'm not sure if I'm going through another generalized nose blindness episode or if Ô Hira just naturally doesn't project much because of how heavy it is, but it didn't project much at all, I'd say this was a moderate projecting fragrance at best. Sillage was also very light but I was getting light whiffs of this consistently for several hours so that's at least good. Longevity has been good however, as you could expect from a fragrance like this. It has been 8 hours since I sprayed this on and it's still easily detectable on my skin.

This fragrance is beautiful, definitely in my top 5. They were going for a fossilized amber scent here. When you think of it like that they really did a good job, it has a very old smell to it, maybe even ancient. So expect that since they don't reveal the notes. You will have a unique presence. I do think it's unisex, i beleive you need to dress up for this one, it's a very special perfume, and does amazing on special occasions. I wear it every Halloween because in my whole collection this fragrance is somehow the "scariest" and I really couldn't tell you how, but that's something special about this one, but don't let that scare you, this is 100% worth a smell. If u don't like save a alil on first testing and let it masserate a few months, beleive me. Anyways, this is some of the finest perfumery here, I wouldn't change anything about this scent which makes it a 10/10. And yes the longevity is excellent as well, you'll get all day wearing, which is kinda crazy for something I would tend to reach for at night

it is an older sister of Mona di Oreo Cuir when it dries down, completely identical although the top note is quite different and better than Mona di Oreo but later it will settle to be the same. honestly i'll never pay 800$+ for 50 ml of this one, nothing special about it and it doesn't worth it. btw Hira is the small cave name that prophet Muhammad was questioning himself inside by looking at the stars, the sky and how life is and the same place that Jibril (the angel) first shown to prophet Muhammad and recital to him the first ever script in the Holy Quran :) edit (31th dec 2014): this is completely complex and never one note only, and i can definitely sense Stephane's stamp in it which is the bitter almonds. i was wrong about it being not that special... this fragrance is amazing and truly it has similarity with Cuir by Mona di Oreo when it dries down but different in away that makes me think of it seriously. the only drawback is it's price.

O Hira is undeniably lovely and natural but smells eerily similar to a homemade Spanish labdanum tincture I made at home for $10. Of course there's more going on with this (probably some real ambergris and styrax), but it's not at all worth the price (nearly $500 for 50ml!!!). I'd think about buying it if it dropped down to Ambre Sultan or Grand Soir prices. (No disrespect meant for the talent of SHL.) Edit: I've spent some more time with O Hira, and perhaps I was too hasty in dismissing it. Yes, my labdanum tincture does smell similar, and make no mistake - this is a labdanum centric scent, but there is a lot more nuance happening here. The dark smoke note is delicious and addicting. There is a very subtle undercurrent of spice (maybe cinnamon or clove?) and perhaps some musk. Buried under the smoke is a molasses-like sweetness with a small amount of vanilla or tonka. It's still not worth the asking price, but it is a (DARK) gorgeous scent.

Neptune's amber crown... Pure simplicity and salty sweetness is what you get with this gem coming from the deepest darkness of the ocean. Neptune's hidden amber. This juice is very refined, pure and sexy. Nothing special composition wise, but what you get is nothing but perfection. Is like playing "old MacDonald had a farm" with a Stradivarius in the hands of Jascha Heifetz... you think you have smelt something similar, but you haven't. I believe the magic is coming from the ambergris and how provides to the sweetness of the ambar/labdanum the counterpoint of the saltiness and the naughtiness. Quite addictive. Due to price-tag in this one, you have to be sure if it is worthy to have something apparently so simple in your arsenal, just to own "the real thing". Uniqueness: low (in fact it is not, but it seems...) Scent: 10/10 Performance: medium-high Would I buy it: No (very low in my wish-list at the moment)

Recently blind bought this based off of reviews. On day one it smelled like a dark sweet scent with a slight medicinal touch. I like that as it has a 'refined' feel to it. Seemed like something I've smelt in Saudi Arabia on several people who graciously over sprayed (like they tend to do in the region).It does/did smell oudy and resinous (in an incense sort of way). Now it's day three of wearing it and I pick up an oakmoss note which is a bit smokey-ish. A bit less sweet and more drier in the drydown. Unfortunately I don't get the kind of performance I was expecting from it. I have the clear bottle like the one in the fragrantica picture so it makes me wonder if it's reformulated and that's why I don't get the same performance? Will have to give it more wearings to get my nose adjusted to the proper scent. Edit: In love with it! Would love to find more fragrances like this.

It's been a year since I got it and it comfortably sits in the top 3 fragrances. Something I discovered with it is that it performs differently based on the temperature and where you apply on your body. As silly as it sounds, this resinous beauty smells better in warm weather with more of the sweetness coming through and giving off a cozy feeling. It works the same way when applied to the chest rather than the neck or wrists as the warmth trapped under the layers of clothes bring out the gooey sweetness with salty animalic undertones, making it smooth and opulent. In the colder temperatures it comes off very leathery, waxy and salty with rough edges which I don't really enjoy. To counter that I spray my chest only and let the body heat trapped under the clothing, send lovely wafts of this gem.

This is the holy grail of ambers that I've been looking for. To me it is worth the cost, although I did find it for a substantial discount. Excellent sillage, lasts forever, spicy and earthy and animalic. There are far more notes in this than are listed. This is a very complex fragrance and has far more than just ambergris in it, the one listed note. I think it is the real ambergris in it that makes it so costly and so absolutely delicious, though. It does spoil some of my other ambers for me! None of them will ever compare, although when I just want a clean, simple amber for day time instead of a heavy, detailed one like this, I'd turn to something like L'Occitane's amber. But this is an evening amber beyond compare.

Might just be the pinnacle of ambers for me. Attempt at filling my soul #uncountable. I smelled the cap in a store, in passing, then sprayed it on my wrist, took a whiff, and I knew I was in trouble. Googled for price later (the store only had testers displayed, and I shy away from the SAs), said ofc, ofc it's the most expensive one. I guess Destiny intervened, or Universe, or perhaps the Devil, in any case, a Temptation was put before me at half the price. I took the bite off that apple like I was Snow White. I bathed my salivating mouth in fig juices like Adam with no concept of punishments to follow. I plunged into the deep waters of Bosphorus with no regard if I'll ever surface. This scent does something to me.

this smells good. yes it does. if someone gave it to me I would wear it. but the thing that bothers me is the price for what it is. for 800 dollars I want glamour and originality not something that is already out there. to me this has that 'niche' smell that has been done by others. I cannot remember exactly which ones right now but I have had this experience. I smell amber some cinnamon and a little dusty vanilla and yeah maybe labdanum. if I want labdanum I'm gonna get some paste for 10 dollars. maybe it is april aromatics that has something similar now I am going to have to go through my samples. I would buy it for 200. it was worth the sample and I will meditate on it some more.

In my opinion the gold standard of the fantasy note "stone amber" (as opposed to ambergris. Layers upon layers of glowing and nuanced labdanum amber reveal themselves during an olfactory tour de force metarmorphosing from resinous to honeyed to toffeed to caramel to almost like liquorice to leather to woody and back. Pretty much the antithesis to the loveless, dense, non-dynamic and synthetic ebanol-style sandalwood bases of Signore Gualtieri that he applies like layers of paint. Ô Hira is authoritative, meditative and spiritual. Insanely priced, yes, but a work of art that is wearable and stands for something. Outstanding longevity, initially strong then moderate projection.

The most evocative amber fragrance available in the market, this crowning jewel in the SHL collection is mostly resinous, salty, marine ambergris and labdanum with a bit of fossilized amber and oud. Absolutely resplendent and stunning, its beauty is subtle but oh so breathtaking. The juice is rich, warm, powdery, sweet, salty, animalic and smoky. This sensual perfume just wore me down into submission upon first sniff. This is the stuff of exotic Arabian Nights tales. Amber lovers and those into Orientals, this is a diamond that belongs in your collection.

This is all about ambergris! It's smokey honey like accord is everything to me. This is my favorite scent I have had the pleasure to smell and I'm over 1k niche scents tried. It's spiritual to me, takes me to my happy place. Some won't get it but that's OK, they are wrong, but that's OK ha. If you look at my collection, there's a reason it's my signature scent. It's just that good. Though I don't wear it that often. Maybe something I wear more often should be my signature. But I put it there because it's my favorite! Try it, if you don't like it @me

O'Hira. This is my second experience with this house and I can tell you that his scents are expertly blended and smooth. O'Hira shares that aesthetic..and with labadnum leading the way of this traditional amber soliflore. AMbergris surfaces as well as darker resins. I do have to agree this is the definitive modern amber. Its one of the best modern fragrances Ive encountered. Worth a sample or a safe blind buy.

Wow to say this fragrance is not about ambergris, some people really need to smell ingredients by themselves. Trying to put other people, most likely more educated in perfume then him down. Trust I've smelled pure white ambergris oil and this Def has it in there. Hence the animalistic qualities. However, to be very, labdanum and spices Def play a big role as well. But 100 percent white ambergris is the star!

Well, I love it... Absolutely well balanced. Whatever additional notes besides labdanum (perhaps some cinnamon and spice, honey, some animal notes, tobacco, leather) really round the fragrance out. I think it's unbelievably beautiful. Resinous, rich and indulgent. The price is the only thing standing between me and this bottle. 9.5/10

As much as i love this, im pissed about 3 things: 1 - salesperson pointed this to me as a “contains real ambergris” scent. 2 - the original imperial oud by al haramain with ambrarome is a 1:1 of this - only 2x stronger 3 - the price is insane Other than that: really nice ambrarome + labdanum fragrance.

Best dark amber available?. It’s warm, smoky, balsamic, resinous and even salty in some way. All of this is perfectly balanced and is accompanied by a slight sweetness in the base. Price tag is a bit hefty but you can find this for almost 50% off sometimes and for that price it’s a no brainer.

Say what you want but this perfume is ONE OF THE BEST in my collection. I agree with all those you mentioned "Honey", "Smokey Honey" ... in their description of this juice. It's sweet but not the vanilla kind of sweetness, more like the Mamluk kind of sweetness. Great stuff !

I came to check if people came to their senses, nope, it's expensive because white ambergris is one of the most expensive ingredients in all of fragrance. But I can see why it's not a favorite of everyone. It is for me though, it's amber heaven

I thought I was averse to ambergris until I smelled this...heavens, I want to nuzzle my arm where I dabbed it. I get spices, resins, and a touch of rose and powder. O Hira is absolutely gorgeous and, in my mind, an ideal balmy balsamic scent.

I am in love with this one! Very powerful and makes me feel very feminine and sexy! Great for the night out and it’s a tad cool or windy, not for every day because it’s such a unique fragrance!

- Let's get this out of way first: the note pyramid here is not entirely accurate or up to date. According to the official website of Stephane Humbert Lucas 777, the soul of the scent is Fossilized Amber , "aims to express a primitive and noble odour" (ambergris?), and it's layered with amber, leather, styrax and cinnamon , built on the solid base of tonka, vanilla, and musk . For some of those notes mentioned above, I don't really know what they should smell like. Here is my personal take on this perfume. Main Notes - sweet balsamics - bitter incense - nutty-spicy leather - labdanum - burnt ash Scent Description A crisp olibanum-like note lights up the opening, then we dive into a chaotic sea of unrecognizable balsamic sweetness. But the dried, fiberous-roots-like bitter shadow of incense has infiltrated and tainted the whole system, you can sense its grey finger on the neck of sweet balsamics from time to time. The sweetness turns "flat"-er for one split sec, probably the regular vanilla tonka combo? Viewing from a different angle, a labdanum base with dirty anima tone (Ambrarome?) gives a toothy grin. But neither of them is the rightful heir at the time: steadily, this scent turns nutty, with a salty spicy hint —— perhaps it's the leather step up on the stage? Finally, the labdanum shoved his way up, along with other resinous entourage: myrrh? mayhaps benzoin too? I slept thru the latter half of the show and woke up to catch the end: the more typical sour-sweet date-pit-like labdanum won at last.

This is an old church amber, balsam, olibanum (frankincense resin) scent with a hint of oud, warm spicy and labdanum accord. And the resinous balsam in here is intresting. It smells like most monks and church fathers that live in my country, they use balsams, incenses and oud for religious purposes everyday and they always smell like this. I never thought someone would encapsulate this in a fragrance but here we are. Personally i like it for nostalgic purposes but will not own this unless i have succumbed to my death-chambers or something. Unisex and warm/ soft spicey. Very mature/ wise, old, ancient and niche but near artisan category. Not for everyone. Plus, if you want a wearable version of this you can get Dark Rebel Rider by John Varvatos (it's discontinued but some bottles still exist in some random perfume stores with less cost compared to this one). You can also think of Grand soir or it's dupe Eternal oud as a more wearable amber & oud prominent perfume that is in the same catagory. Edit: i read the story that inspired this fragrance: "Evokes the story of the Prophet Muhammad seeking refuge in a cave upon Mount Hira". Says it all. What a work of art, and an intresting Narrative masterpiece.

So this is what pure fossilized amber resin smells like? I had been eyeing the essential oil listed with my online EO supplier and it reports that the aromatic profile is "smoky, resinous, leathery, tar-like, woody-dry notes and hints of pine and balsamic overtones." Indeed! This also smells like musky, ambery labdanum with a smoky incense-like character, paired with a little oud showing its darker face of leather and wood pulp -- tons of great texture. I don't get any marine-like ambergris, but perhaps a sexy brush of salty skin. Is O Hira worth the current retail price of $715 for 50 ml? By comparison, the pure oil is ticketed at $722 for 4 oz. With O Hira you're also presented with a masterful, proprietary blend in a gold-crowned bottle sporting a dainty Swarovski crystal, beautiful packaging and bragging rights to owning this piece. Me personally, I would not pay this much for any perfume, not because I don't believe there is value (real or perceived) here, but because I like creating my own experiments. Those who would, I assume have a well-cultivated appreciation for products with integrity. I would assure that you are buying a very high quality, beautiful fragrance in O Hira.

O Hira is an amazing, chewy, dark amber, a bit like Ambre Loup but even darker and more multifaceted. it’s got toffee, leathery, and smoky facets; we’re in a deeply satisfying labdanum zone, probably complemented with other resins. This is amber the way I like it; not overly sweet, very dark, and almost salty, with a chewy dense texture. Its savoriness also reminds me of Serge Lutens’ Ambre Sultan without the herbs, or like a more aggro Papillon Anubis. By an hour or two in, it’s gotten darker; dark brown rather than golden or toffee. 4 hours in, it’s even darker still, and has a deep, soft vanilla quality along with an almost animalic twang. Despite its potency, it doesn’t feel sticky or heavy, even in August. It’s just dense and solid. O Hira is a brawny, magnificent dark amber; it might be my favorite amber yet. A Minotaur of a fragrance.

O Hira is a strange beast. I have heard that this is one of the most hefty amber fragrances, but on my skin it purrs like a kitten. From my sample, I get labdanum completely drenched in cinnamon; In fact, cinnamon is the strongest note on my skin throughout this fragrance. For me it dries down to nothing but cinnamon, and it dries down quickly in a couple of hours, where at that point it is a barely detectable skin scent. I just don't understand why my skin is not playing nice with this fragrance, I almost feel like my personal experience is unlike anyone else's who has tried this. I want to LOVE this, but as much as I love cinnamon, I can't justify that amount of money for such low longevity. I will continue to use my sample and edit this review if it ever changes.

It’s an amber. The house DNA runs strong through this and it easily reminds me of other 777 perfumes. Do I like it? Yes. It shares that familiar amber vibe many of us enjoy. Its hallowed incense is immediately detectable (which is perfect for this Easter weekend). It also gives off a light sweetness without being sweet. It wears lighter than Grand Soir, Ambra Aurea, Ambre Loup, or Ambre Sultan which I appreciate for versatility. Is it standout enough to add to an already ridiculous amber collection considering its high price? All I can say is it’s in my shopping cart, but I haven’t yet hit purchase.

I much prefer the drydwon to the opening. That said, there is much more than just ambergris in this one. I can spot resins, rose... It's good, but I was expecting more given the hype. That, added to a laughable price tag, makes a purchase of this one unlikely, even remotely. In the whole SHL line-up, only Oumma and Black Gemstone retained some of my attention tbh. Very overhyped house.

Wearing my Lucky Scent sample for the second time. First of all, absolutely not a safe blind buy. Second, I can’t imagine paying what they ask for it. I don’t exactly know what I expected from this fragrance, but not at all what I smell. Definitely labdanum. And something else, smoky, leathery, and rubbery. I don’t like this combination, not on a woman.

I have a rum and cola start. Labdanum, cinnamon, cloves¿ and animalic amber that raises the hair in a velvety way. It remains animalic but pleasant and sweet. It fades warmer, smoother and smokier than ¿choy loban? in the drydown, but never changes. Which for this price is a... brake. Straight, long-lived, summary and nice.

To me it smells mostly labdanum (rockrose) with florals. There might be ambergris also, but I can't tell. It is a pleasant fragrance, projecting an 'amber' feeling. But I won't be getting a bottle as the price is stratospheric.

Can't help but feel this is overrated. It's a straight up amber scent with a slightly animalic side to it. It is very nice don't get me wrong but I was expecting it to be more unique/mind blowing

On my skin, this smells precisely like a warm fresh cinnamon bun. Rather gourmand. Moderate silage and excellent longevity.

I’ve noticed a few comparisons to ‘O’Hira’ here, so I’d argue that April Aromatics ‘Calling All Angels’ is much more spicy, less sweet, more aromatic and more incense smoky rather than ashy smoky and Perris ‘Ambre Gris’ is dryer, saltier and without any sweetness or smoke. ‘O’Hira’ has a sweet honey-cake base with a chewy amber-caramel middle with gentle edges of cold smoke.

I am sorry but I don't get the hype... It's not BAD but... Let's start with the fact that it's VERY linear... Long-lasting, yes... But considering its refusal to transform at all over time, I'd call it.. relentless. It smells good... But even on his own website he never mentions Ambergris (let's get it together fragrantica) so I'm just wondering how anyone is justifying the price? I'm not opposed to taking a second mortgage to buy perfume... I own a few eyebrow-raising perfumes that ALSO might not be worth the price but.. this one really takes the cake... It's a spicy, earthy, very labdanum (love!) forward scent that has almost nothing in it to give it an inch of lift off the ground (just a pinch of an aromatic would have done wonders), and no thesaurus full of clever ways to describe "burned" can hide the fact that this smells a little bit like the bottle of perfume you grabbed as you escaped a burning building... It just ISN'T the best amber... It's good, but not great and nowhere near worth the price. really hate to say it but if this fragrance was $120 for a 1.7oz... and I mean... Had it been RELEASED at that price (which I'm absolutely sure would still yield a small profit!) ... it wouldn't be that popular.... The price has driven this frenzy... Without a doubt. *P.S. for those of you yelling at me about the price of ambergris.... You can email Stephane directly just as I did... There's none in this fragrance. ZERO. don't believe everything you read on fragrantica... There was a glitch for YEARS that put COCONUT In the notes listings instead of CASTOREUM... some of you who have been long time, fragrantica users are very well aware of this... the mistake is very obvious since coconut and castoreum have nothing to do with each other.. but that doesn’t stop dozens of reviewers from commenting on how beautiful the coconut note is in these completely animalic fragrances lol... The power of suggestion is very real.

Got a sample from Lucky Scent, spent a few days with it and here are my thoughts: Shares similarities with TF Amber Absolute and Ambre Sultan from Serge Lutens. I also get labandum and cumin which reminds me of a popular Amouage perfume. If i were to smell this blindly I'd guess its an Amouage. I like it and the bottle is gorgeous. Its resinous, sticky and bitter. I do think there are better offerings at this price point though and therefore I won't be purchasing a fb

Not worth anywhere close the ridicilous price tag. I dont find it very unique nor blind buy worthy. It's pretty obvious to me that the reviewer who over hype thos fragrance (rvmvadati) is as fake as his instagram followers (90% bot accounts), so guys don't fall for these tricks and be careful from this shiller. While the note breakdown for Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777's Ô Hira has been kept veiled, it's not too difficult to pull out the main player in this earthy, resinous blend: labdanum. The fragrance itself is quite sparse, inviting deep concentration on the resins at hand and instantly pegging Ô Hira as a high-brow, complicated affair. Pitched as an oriental, Ô Hira is really more of a reference labdanum and I’d even place it as a touchstone of dark, resinous perfumery. For all its simplicity, the materials are captivating and the scent might be described best as a showcase of sorts. There are really just a couple of things going on here. First, and most prominent, is the labdanum that dominates. It's pristine and three dimensional—chiseled down from the more unwieldy raw material into something polite and tasteful on its own. Much of the grit of labdanum’s bottom end and the shrill turpenic nuances of the top have been equalized, rendering the note as smooth and somewhat ghostly. I'm certain that there's ambergris in this—and quite a lot of it as well. This sits alongside the labdanum and can be identified by a subtle marine aspect—almost brine-like, but quite tame. It's rich and prominent, so either the perfume is using a generous amount of the good stuff, or there are some nifty new synths being deployed as to perhaps support a more holistic amount. When placed against the labdanum, it adds a musky sweetness that counters the resin perfectly. Apparently, there's fossilized amber in this, but I don't pick up on much of it if it's there. This material is essentially the resin of ancient conifers and is often known as a terpenoid. While rarely used in perfumery (and never used in commercial perfumery), fossilized amber bears no resemblance to the warm fantasy note common in oriental perfumes. Yet it's a material that's readily available for about $200 per ounce and is best described as smoky, leathery, and a bit rubbery too. I have a small amount of this material myself and it's far from pleasant, but it's certainly evocative. Really, the only other perceptible items are some other resins (myrrh, styrax, perhaps) and some spices (mainly cinnamon, from what I can gather). It's all intertwined and really does require some analytical sniffing to make out the individual components. Consequently, Ô Hira wears like a clean, refined labdanum with turpenic undertones. It's both subtly sweet and subtly smoky with trace amounts of sappy green too, but much of this comes from the labdanum itself. These facets are incredibly delicate and hard to detect, reaffirming that the scent is more of a meditation than a fully-fledged perfume. Also, there are sour and bitter aspects that conjure up the kind of feeling you get when you lick a battery or perhaps a copper penny. It's ever so slightly metallic, bringing up, for me, images of metal gates covered in creeping ivy and branches, or perhaps those beautiful deco wrought iron entrances to the Paris subway. It doesn't transition much, but it does seem to smooth over any residual harshness from the resins, spending the remainder of its life as a smooth, crystalline labdanum. It's engaging and beautiful, but it's really not a traditional amber oriental and there's not a lot to it. This retails for $825 for a 50ml bottle. Is it worth it? Well, that's relative, but I'd harbor that even though it does use a few exceptional materials, this pricing is outlandish. While not quite as obnoxiously priced (per ml) as another recent oriental Dead of Night, Ô Hira just doesn't offer enough to warrant its price tag. This is a really a scent for those who adore resins and have the patience to spend some time getting to know them a little more. It's a very good representation of labdanum, but even at half the current retail, it'd already be an imposition.

عطر حراء من ماركة O Hira Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777 #SLH777 لأ اخفيكم سراً اني سبق ووقفت على مجموعة من عطور هذه الدار وكانت تجربة غير مشجعة ربما لان العطور لم تعجبني او اني لم اعطها حقها في التجربة لا اعتقد ابداً اني جربت عطر حراء ضمن تلك التجربة لان هذا العطر غير وجهة نظري تماما حول المصمم وعطور هذا الدار. عطر حراء عطر من تصميم الانف سيتفن همبرت لوكاس اعتمد على قصة غار حراء على صاحبه افضل صلاة وازكى تسليم كمصدر الهام عند تصميم العطر،اختار المصمم احد المكونات العنبرية المشهورة وهو اللابدانوم لتجسيد الفكرة التي يريدها وبالفعل اخرج عطراً شرقياً عنبرياً بخوري بامتياز اعجبني بحق، عطر أجد فيه ميزة تعجبني كثيراً وهو ذلك الاحساس بالقدم تشعر انه عطر لجيل عاش قبلنا مئات السنين والاجمل عندما تكون تلك الرائحة مرتطبة بثقافتك. اللابدانوم هو مكون راتنجي ينتمي لعائلة العنبر والبلسميات وهو قريب نوعا ما بالعنبر الحيواني و المتحجر او الكهرماني الا انه يفرق عن الكهرمان في النوتة السويتيه ورائحة الانيمالك الحسية فيه مع تلميحات ليذرية حلوه، الحقيقة مكون معقد ويحمل ملامح متعدده، ولهذا نجد اللابدانوم كثيرا الاستخدام في عطور اليوم وخاصة العطور العنبرية او تلك العطور التي ترتكز غلى الجلود والبخور، المكون هذا بارز ويمكن التعرف عليه في عطر صحارى نوار من توم فورد وعطرنا هذا ايضا عطر حراء يرتكز كما قلت على اللابدانوم وقدمه المصمم بقالب شرقي عتيق مع مكونات عريقة مثل اللبان والتوابل والاخشاب والجلود. "الوصف المختصر عطر يرتكز على اللابدانوم السويتي مع بداية للتوابل الجافة قريبة في شكلها بعطور امواج، وقلب عنبري ممزوج برائحة اللبان والجلود المدخنة اقرب لعطور مثل عطر كيور من مونا دي اوريو وتربيوت من امواج ونهاية بعد فترة طويلة اكثر نظارة برائحة خشبية مسكية عنبرية قريب لعطر ديب عنبر اتمنى تكون الامثلة من العطور التي ذكرت قد جربتها." الوصف المطول الذي احبه واعتذر مقدما على الاطالة. :) بداية العطر رائحة من التوابل الدافئة الجافة الحامضة ! لا اريد ذكر تخميناتي حول تلك التوابل حتى لاتعطي انطباع لا اريده ...، تلك التوابل الجافة يشاركها بروز تدريجي متصاعد لرائحة اللابدانوم واللبان والاخشاب المدخنه. البداية ذكرتني بعطور امواج او بتوابل امواج الرائعه، وذكرتني ايضا بعطر هواء الصحراء المغربية وكذلك بتلك اللمحة التابلية الجافة في عطر بلاك افقانو،مع احتافظ العطر بشخصيته المميزة والرائعه. المرحلة التالية تفرز لنا راتنج اللابدانوم بوضوح والذي يفوح من أعماقة رائحة بخورية من اللبان وروائح الاخشاب الجافة التي امتزجت مع الجلود لتعطي رائحو دخانية بخورية جلدية تشعر معها انك امامك مدخنه تفوح منها تلك الرائحة اللبانيه العميقة وتشعر معها بحرارة ودفئ الجمر! هذه المرحلة هي جوهر العطر ومن وجهة نظري ان لم تعجبك فلن يروق لك العطر هذا الجميل للاسف. هذا المرحلة موجة لمحبي الجلود واللبان والعنبر المحاط بتلك النوتات. باسلوب شرقي عتيق. وذكرتني ببعض ملامح النوته اللليذرية ملامح وليس تطابق بعطر كيور من مونا دي اوريو مع الفارق في اجواء العطر وكذلك عطر تربيوت من امواج. الملامح البخورية هنا لك ان تصفها انها قريبة من رائحة اللبان، المعمول،الجلود المدخنه. قاعدة العطر هي استمرار لخطى اللابدانوم ولكن بعد ان تبتعد عنه تلك التوابل واللمحات البخورية وبعد ان يفقد بعض من ملامحه الرئيسة بحيث تكون الرائحة اكثر نظارة مع لمحات مسكية ناعمة ليست بتلك الرائحة المسكبة الرخيصة القادمه من احد مكونات المسك الشائعه الاستخدام وانما القادمة من اللابندوم نفسه وربما بعض المكونات الاخرى التي وضفها المصمم ولم يفصح عنها. قاعدة العطر تذكرني نوعاً بعطر بعطر ديب عنبر. خلاصة القول تريد عطر عنبري بقالب بخوري ليذري يعطيك الاحساس بالفخامة والقِدم جرب هذا العطر بالنسبة لي من اجمل العطور الشرقية التي جربتها وربما يكون الأسوء بالنسبة لك. النقطة السلبية في هذا العطر هي سعر . # هذا مالدي رطب لسانك بذكر والله وصل على النبي. تحياتي سعد. A little disappointed to write this, not for the scent, but more for the sense of let down. Honestly ... blind bought this based on what I've read about it, impossible to find local samples. I was expecting amber ... what ever that is and not expecting ambergris as implied in the notes here on Fragrantica. On first spray, I got a sharp chemical citrus which very quickly settled to a sweet tobacco radiance. Strange I thought, this reminds me of Tom Ford's Tobacco Oud Intense (TOI) version which is sweeter than the standard Tobacco Oud (TO). Yes, it is that sweet smokey plump dried raisin accord that is supposed to pass for tobacco in (TOI). Now don't get me wrong, I quite like Tobacco Oud's 2 versions, but Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777 O Hira, on me, smells exactly like (TOI) minus the Oud in there. A sweet dark raisin scent, slightly smokey. Quite nice, not ground braking or as sweet compared to TF's TOI, but subtle differences, enough to demand further examination. Fast forward 6 hours and a female friend sprayed it on her self during a conversation about the perfume on the drive home. Again I got wafts of the (TOI) and couldn't move beyond that scent, my friend liked the scent, but it was a little strong for her, she commented that perhaps it will be softer later,.... little chance I thought to my self, this is very linear in performance and mono phase (unshifting) profile over the scent life. This evening I've reapplied, subtle difference in the opening, now more alive in the opening which still very quickly gets smothered in the smokey sweet raisin cloud. Yes, raising my wrist and smelling deeply I get incense and other vapours that warm, caress and add an intoxication with every deep inhale. My conclusion, a well blended fragrance, strong and powerful with a delicious cloud which remains around your senses for hours on end. Projection is good but over spraying, by any more than one spray it will become sickly sweet. In the right situation, evening, well dressed, formal occasion, this is warm and inviting. I prefer it to TF's (TOI) or (TO) as I think it would be more acceptable. But for daytime or any other situation, save your money, a €160 bottle of Tobacco Oud gives you 95% of what is. The other 5% is nuanced enough to wonder if it's worth the extra €400, Time will tell ....

This fragrance was launched in 2014 and the perfumer who signs this fragrance is Stephane Humbert Lucas. Ô Hira evokes the story of the Prophet Muhammad seeking refuge in a cave on Mount Hira at the top of Mecca. The perfume is an ode to Amber; built on '3 Amber Pillars' natural layered tone on tone by Ambergris the best known, natural Wood Amber increasingly difficult to extract and commonly replaced by synthetics such as AmberXtreme for example, and finally Fossilized Amber (Copal) its central pillar, the main support of the fragrance, which is actually a semi-fossilized Amber used in perfumery, a "mass" before the final petrified state. Using precious ingredients, the 'Diamond of the Collection' as stated by Stephane Humbert Lucas himself, is the result of years of dedicated work. Ô Hira already opens dark, smoky and with a dark amber that reveals a salty and sweet mixture at the same time and a spicy, sweet, striking and delicious cinnamon. The leather appears in a timid and fleeting way, which for me already completely removes the similarity with Oud 777 compared by some. It continues with its own personality bringing a toasted vanilla of the first line. And it doesn't take long for more amber veneers to appear: woody resinous animalic. A Spectacular Delicious Woody Dark Amber Drying! Hey Hira it's not easy to describe and feel more separate featured notes with just first impressions, I'll probably need more uses to understand it better and maybe a milder temperature. But without a doubt a rich perfume, a beautiful creation with superior quality, it is no wonder that it is in the upper price range of the House next to Oumma. Top Notes: Ambergris, Leather, Woody Notes, Styrax. Middle Notes: Fossilized Amber, Saltpeter, Cinnamon, Earthy Notes. Base Notes: Woody Amber Resin, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Musk.

I have a few of the Stephane Humbert Lucas line and they all do smell like an Indian bazaar spice market, it is like resinous woods, Myrrh Frankincense and spices. All things which to European noses they claim are offensive. Many frags, that have Indian spices, like cardamom, Cinnamon, Bay, Black Pepper, seem to offend English noses. The English allegde that they like more sophisticated scents, like Lime, Lemon, Synthetic aldehydes and mints, ozonic elements, so if you are certainly in England, you do get some very negative comments if your are a male wearer of the fragrance, assuming the frag is unisex and generally they seem to be nowadays. But I guess that the darker your skin tone is and also the more ethnic your accent is,the worse the chemistry must be, as the exact same fragrance on a white skinned person gets a totally different reaction, to the point where women will swoon or say I could eat you alive. So what actually gives? Is it the melanin which reacts with constituents found in Indian spices which makes the smell unacceptable or horrid, or is it the fact that like most things it is about what society that deems the fragrance palatable based on the looks of the wearer or is the look and appeal of the fragrance related to how society portrays the wearer of the fragrance? I can guarantee if an Indian male wore a fragrance and Indian female wore it, it would provoke a different response from the audience. Always negative in the case of a male wearing it, and always positive from a female wearing it, unless she happened to be a black woman with an Afro. How sad!

This is it... Fossil amber (or ambergris??) is the only note disclosed, even though there's more to it (and maybe no fossil amber at all). This is it, meaning, this is THE perfume in my modest opinion. But I do not say that from a subjective perspective: i claim this as a masterpiece. Sweet/Spicy/balsamic/aromatic/dry/animalic. You can touch it, it is solid, it never bothers you though it is always there. It never abandons you, it lasts and you never want it to end. I learned it took 2 years to the perfume to sort this out, to find the pure natural ingredient mix that got to this point and I must say I believe him. When I read the price I believed him even more. He doesn't give a damn to put this out at 580€ (Italy), whereas all other perfumes of his are way much cheaper (apart a few of them). If you buy it it is because you really got hooked. You'd never want to spend so much for a bottle of 50 ml dark liquid unless you really think this is made for you. Only for you, regardless of how many bottles were sold (I do not think it has flown off the shelves). Let me get myself together and I will put my hands on it soon, very soon... I got myself together and bought it. This is a beast, an animal,. Again: THE perfume. Have worn it for 2 months and words cannot express. I think SHL invented a scent that didn't exist, one should find a new name-category and link it to this wonder.
