Soleil de Jeddah - Afterglow

My Fable: It begins in a tranquil coniferous forest bathed in the aroma of incense, where you awaken with your head gently resting against a sturdy rock. A warm, inviting light filters through the verdant canopy, coaxing you to rise and explore. As you venture forth, the forest gives way to vast fields of chamomile, the scent of which is as intoxicating as the ever-intensifying warm light. You stay in the fields for hours, never have you felt so alive. And then, just as the sun begins to dip, you are drawn back into the comforting serenity of the forest. As you return to your rocky refuge and lay your head to rest, sweet dreams envelop you, shaped by the mystifying dance between the incense, the warmth of the sun, and the chamomile fields. Rating: I personally really like Soleil de Jeddah - Afterglow. Overall, the scent definitely is a unique experience! The chamomile notes were a highlight, creating a refreshing, ideal spring-summer fragrance. The fresh bergamot provided an invigorating dimension that was well complemented by the amber-myrrh-benzoin combination. The scent was rounded off beautifully with a delicate vanilla and iris butter note, adding a versatile wearability to the fragrance. My favorite from SHL after Taklamakan (which has since become one of my signature scents). Dominant Notes: Orchid, Chamomile, Myrrh Secondary Notes: Orris Butter, Vanilla, Incense Subtle Notes: Vetiver, Benzoin, Amber, Styrax Absent Notes: Bergamot This is an ancient balm, and when I say balm, I don't mean Saudi Arabia, but rather Ancient Egypt and its embalming rituals. It opens with camphorous chamomile, myrrh oil, and a green, herbaceous orchid accord. It's deep, resinous, almost medicinal. The Egyptians used several resins imported from the Levant, such as myrrh (valued for its antiseptic, aromatic, and preservative properties) in their mummification rites. I also detect a ghostly trace of beeswax and mandarin, cinnamon oil, and other exotic gums brought from Lebanon, Somalia, Eritrea, perhaps even Asia. Yet whether at dawn or at dusk, the sun remains feverish and vibrant, lingering with a persistent glow, its residual frantic radiance. At the heart of the fragrance lies the arid breath of the desert, its contours etched by a feverish light that burns through the adhan. Then, suddenly, everything turns cold. The fire dies out, and Jeddah trembles in a diffuse warmth, swallowed and dissolved into the hum of the city. A floral accord, crystallized within the sap... I wear it when I want to feel like a deity among men. 8.5/10

If I dared to have a signature scent, this might be it. At least for now. A beguiling, aromatic chamomile, emboldened by incense, delivers an energizing introduction to the star of the show; a dense and buttery iris. The iris has an evolving facet throughout the life of the scent, sometimes sticky, sometimes mildly sweet, sometimes almost a hint of caramel, but always delicious and remains through the dry down. The combination of the chamomile and incense at the opening with the dry down notes lend to an ever present balsamic and layered character. Like a pot of brown butter slow simmering with lots of iris, a bit of vanilla, pinch of brown sugar, and chamomile flowers sprinkled on top. This is uplifting and energizing, while comforting at the same time. This is warm and sometimes powdery. Used up my sample and ordered a full bottle at a good discount. This must be tested on skin. I wore this while gardening in 90 degree weather and my nose adored the scent so much, I could smell it the next day. All genders and all seasons! Unique and unlike anything in my collection.

Underrated. This is excellent and high quality. Medium projection & stellar longevity. Picture an executive longhair brunette wearing Laboutin heels a perfectly tailored suit sitting at the top of the table and owning her sh... She has no time to waste and has heard it all. She got up at 5am, did her cold plunge, glanced through the notifications while sipping coffee and slipped into her business attire. Starts off very balsamic and woody, resins drenched in camomile oil...setts down into an amber vanilla butter at the end of the day, just in time when her teenage twins get back from practice and give her a big loud kiss on the cheek.

I already have SHL Soleil de Jeddah mango kiss and they are very similar. I definitely get a mango note in this even though it’s not listed as a note. Tone down the mango, amp up the amber and benzoin and add a decent amount of incense and myrrh, you get this. I think it’s outstanding and you can definitely wear it all year round. Maybe not during hot summer days but definitely summer nights.

Am I the only one getting mango notes in this? I have smelled God of Fire and Mango kiss as well. I love all 3 they are all unique in their own way but I felt that Mango was the thing that tied the 3 together. The other 2 list mango as notes. I consider this one part of a trio of beautiful and unique "mango type" fragrances from SHL.

A very classic, masculine and elegant fragrance. Soleil de Jeddah Afterglow is absolutely non-linear, it evolves and transforms as it goes from the top to the base notes. Rich and balsamic, with a fruity note (á la TL). I really like it; great for all seasons. Great longevity and good sillage.

At first sniff I hated it and put it away. It was way too strong earthy and incense-y, but after a while and trying it a second time it revealed itself to me. She’s dark, she’s sexy, she’s seductive, she could be the girl in your dreams. This fragrance opens with curls of Incense and earthy notes from chamomile. Right at the beginning it smells black from all the earthiness and incense, but once it settles down it turns into a really gorgeous voluptuous dark amber. The best way to describe it after the opening in the heart to me would be calling it a seductive dark purple color or maybe a dark smoked brown color. I definitely get a little bit of mango too even though it’s not listed as a note. It smells like the night, like an enchantress. It literally smells like the goddess eris in the sinbad movie. Seductive, dark, mysterious, alluring, witchy. 10/10 fragrance. definitely give it a try. it’s not for everyone as it’s quite bold and niche smelling but it’s fantastic if you’re on the hunt for a dark heavy strong unique smelling fragrance or if everything I described is exactly what you like! Perfect for a night out. It’s kinda a gothic fragrance imo but with an edge of mango to make it even more unique and addictive the mango also cuts the sharpness and depth of everything else

Luminous, smoke-velvet aura that gives me a sensual golden-hour resort vibe. Creamy, powdery camomile on a resinous base that never gets cloying or syrupy. The resins and vetiver keep the vanilla from getting overly gourmand. Wonderful fragrance.

Luxury in a bottle. I tend to like my amber scents a little more incense forward and gothic, but this is very pleasing and safe. You will see in many of my reviews that I do not like florals. I am a masculine male in my 30’s, I wear unisex fragrances, but ones that lean a little more masculine. Floral notes come off on my skin too strong. This smells very high end, very expensive, very good, just not for me. If the floral notes were more tamed and incense was stronger, I would buy a bottle. Perhaps it will show up differently for you. Def buy a sample if you like the notes listed.

Старый батюшка из глухого храма где то в египте после службы пошел собирать ромашки в ирисовое поле. Нота ладана и бензоин очень отдает церковью (лично для меня), а так запашок не плохой. Хорошая стойкость (Иза концентрации масел и ингредиентов которые сами по себе держутся долго) и большой шлейф. Если хотите недопонимающего внимания окружающих: Смело берите его.

One of the most unique fragrances i have ever smelt, deffo get your nose on this.

Mmmm...not sure what i think of it just yet. This is definately a unisex fragrance. Touches of both male and female notes as it evolves and dries down. But I'd lean more feminine if I had to choose. My husband thought it more feminine also. To each their own. Very citrusy in the beginning, then soft floral then incense then soft floral again. Definately slightly powdery and softens as it evolves. It's well blended and complex. Not an immediate love so far, but I'm intrigued. So I'll keep trying from time to time and see if it grows on me with time and macerating. Gorgeous packaging, but way overpriced. Edit: Having given it a few days of wear, even trying a few layering ideas with other fragrances, my conclusion is this won't stay in my collection. The incense component and overpowering base notes (once it's been on the skin for a while) just don't do it for me. Its very middle eastern, very pungent after an hour or so of wear, and it just got too repellent. This is not a pretty, or sexy perfume. It's hard work. The citrus and flowery components just disappear to soon. At one stage it did make me think of Tom Fords Black Orchid and I was excited then, but even that went away. Definitely out of my collection. Edit: Tried this again a few months later after it had macerated for a while...yuck. Even more repulsive than previously smelt. This is a definate hate for me. Repulsive fragrance. Makes me think of a dirty barnyard, or piggery. Gross. 🤮

Soleil De Jeddah Afterglow from the French House of Haute Luxury Niche Perfumery Stephane Humbert Lucas 777 is a unisex floral aromatic ambery oriental perfume. It was launched in 2022 and the nose behind this fragrance is Stéphane Humbert Lucas also owner of the brand. This exquisite fragrance combines resinous incensed depth, floral elegance and creamy sweetness in a refined and relaxing experience that radiates sophistication and refinement; a radiant fusion of iris, incense, amber, and vanilla that shines like the last light of the sun on the horizon of the Red Sea in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. On my skin, my sense of smell, I perceive an aromatic, refreshing, delicious chamomile exit, with an ambery, fruity footprint that does not exist in the Traditional and that reminded me mainly of mango, although the flanker with mango is officially the Mango Kiss [which does not interest me] and not the Afterglow; But it is certainly present here as well. And the styrax brings the super elegant leather from the drying of the Soleil De Jeddah Traditional although in less evidence and its floral part was also well softened. But it is already evident that it is a delicious fragrance. This fruity amber accord starts to get smoky by myrrh resins and a steamy dark incense, moving away from its brother Mango Kiss [which I don't know yet] but from what I've researched it's much more fruity and sweet. The famous iris of the Traditional, which for me is a masterpiece of niche perfumery, was greatly reduced in this version and giving it a smooth and slightly powdery texture. It does not have the earthy facet of the orris root of Soleil De Jeddah. But there is vetiver with its earthy and woody character giving it a dimension of depth. I liked it a lot; Soleil De Jeddah Afterglow is a Delicious Perfume! In summary it is a complex and multifaceted fragrance, which reveals itself in a really interesting way. Its aroma is unique, not because it is "strange", but because of the way it moves between different chords and combines different facets. With acidic citrus, with a relaxing herbal touch of chamomile and an exotic sensuality of sweet and musky orchid, powdery and soft iris butter, an incensed mist, with a dark amber, styrax referring to leather, balsamic and resinous myrrh, finishing with the smoky sweetness of benzoin with vanilla. An interesting, unique and high quality perfume. And it also has a good performance!

fave Jeddah out of the three versions. compared to the original one, this one is stripped of that acidic/tart accord and is far less floral, but you get more chamomile and herbs here. instead of a leather base, it has a warm, mellow resinous background, but not too prominent though (amber/resin lovers won’t find much of that here). I get a very subtle but recognizable iris butter, which brings an actual buttery-creamy illusion with a soft floral touch. unlike the prominent lemon in the original, here it’s more of a lemon-yoghurt smell, almost milky and very gentle. the chamomile smells exactly the same but a bit louder: dry, apothecary, more herbal or tea-like rather than floral. it’s also noticeably more powdery, something I don’t get in the original. in the base though they almost fully align, smelling nearly identical. Afterglow sits a bit quieter due to the resins and less lemon, while the original Jeddah is more lemony, floral, and definitely louder thanks to the leather accord. but overall very similar. I own the original SDJ, but honestly, I prefer Afterglow much more; it feels somehow even more original, yet more versatile.

I must specify that this perfume must be tried on skin because it is completely different on the blotter. At least that was my experience with Afterglow; on the blotter it seemed wonderful, while on skin I found it quite unpleasant. It has a very spicy and pungent opening, probably from the chamomile, even though I personally have never found chamomile to be so "intense" and I actually have other fragrances featuring this note. After this pungent smell starts to fade, you can perceive the note of incense, but very discreet. Slowly it settles into an ambery perfume, so a lot of resins and a slightly sweet smell of vanilla. I could also smell something earthy similar to the original Soleil de Jeddah that I own. I did not smell any iris or orchid, but maybe my nose wasn't able to perceive them. As a final opinion, I would not buy this fragrance because it is not to my liking and I prefer the original anyway.

The first sniff gave me an impression this is from a different olfactory territory, a middle-eastern / oriental, I'm unfamiliar with. And then in less than two days it grew on me, to become a delight. The earthy facet of Soleil de Jeddah is a very different interpretation of citrus-floral, with the wild chamomile & the osmanthus. Afterglow is very similar to the original Soleil de Jeddah, with a slight variation of an added incense at the top. This probably makes it an evening version of the original. Once past the slightly incensey opening, Afterglow is in the same veins as the original, the same DNA with the iris butter, the styrax & the madagascar vanilla. What makes both the Soleil de Jeddah versions unique is the way they evolve throughout the wear. It constantly changes & I love this transformation. It's an immersive wear experience. Well...I had an interesting experience with this fragrance. Ive been sampling SHL' because I would love add one of the snake bottles to my collection, nothing yet. And this one was another unmemorable scent. I sampled it a few days ago and was going to video a review and I could not remember what it smelled like. I think fragrances should spark a memory, evoke a feeling, create a mindful experience. I look at the full bottles in my collection and I know each one. I know which one I want to wear for a specific day or event. If there is nothing - then there is nothing. :( . I did look over the fragrance notes here and vaguely remembered the chamomile and incense but clearly not enough to bring this back for a repeat performance.

Gosh if this is not blind buy safe. I like it, but its not for every kitty. Its quite resinous and incensy, but what makes it more rounded up is the herbal note from chamomile. It has a cozy effect, but its very warm... perhaps too much. My partner hates it, probably because it feels very middle eastern. Performance is definitely there with these heavy ingredients. You can literally spray it before bed, sleep 10h, and still smell it when you wake up. Sample it, you might find a hidden gem. The price point is what one would expect from this house ig. Might get a full bottle at some point.
