Soleil de Jeddah

I love SHL’s exceptional style of combining notes and creating something very unique and artistic. It’s not just about the notes, there is something magical in the way he uses ingredients. Soleil de Jeddah is herbal and earthy yet soft and opulent. There is a hint of peachy sweetness from Osmanthus and very realistic herbal scent of Chamomile. It reminds me of running on the fields during summertime when I was a kid. It might feel even soapy during the first wearings but that is not an accord which comes to my mind anymore - like I wouldn’t call this scent fruity at all. As I’m not a fan of citruses it doesn’t bother me at all like is the case when it’s just used as one of the top notes. One of my favorite flowers, Iris, matches unexpectedly yet perfectly with Chamomile like with indulgent mellow Vanilla and ultra smooth leather. Iris and leather is very common combination though but here it’s totally different than it is in other scents which I know. Vanilla never gets sweet and leather never gets brash here. The concoction is absolutely intoxicating and totally unisex. For me this works best during summertime and the hotter the better. All the notes blends so beautifully and it's melting on my skin. It's utterly polished in hot and so classy. If it's too cold this is performing quite sharply and all the notes are like separated. [2] - THE SCENT VIBE: As if I really was there in Jeddah city, walking near one of its beaches among the cool and gentle breezes, I was in Jeddah city for many times, I believe everyone who lives in a city by the sea, will admire this fragrance. [3] - WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL: - The scent have many transitions to the real dry down, which make wearing it more enjoyable. - The composition of the scent is somewhat unusual. - No matter how old you are, as long as you looking for something unique; definitely, it will be an appropriate choice to add to your perfume collection. - If there was a fairy tale about this perfume, and I was told that one of its ingredients came from a plant found in a cave at the top of the Alps, then it would be easy for me to believe it, because the quality. - Artistic, expressive, for all occasions and all seasons, which means: when you wear this perfume, you do not need anyone's opinion or admiration. - I do not think anyone who came here to read my simple review is someone who is a newbie in fragrance world, or prefers to go with the wave of the crowd, but perhaps taste and impression may differ.

A really wonderful, bitter green, dusty citrus scent. I own So Oud Nur, also by Stephane Humbert Lucas, but I like this one better. True, both have the same DNA, but Soleil de Jeddah smells more natural and less synthetic... and combined with a stronger, more pungent apricot note. Nur goes into a powdery direction on my skin in the dry down, Soleil de Jeddah feels more aromatic. And I completely disagree with the suggestion of any similarity to Beach Hut Man, another one of my all time favorite “Top 40” scents. If they share any similarity it’s that they are both an acquired taste, sitting far outside the mainstream conveyer belt of perfume releases. I find both Soleil de Jeddah and Nur hard to explain. With both perfumes, I get to a point where I cannot define what I’m smelling, or identify notes, leading me to the conclusion that Lucas works best in the avant garde. I happen to enjoy this creation. But even if I didn’t like the scent, I could not argue that this perfume is not a work of art.

Think of golden sunshine melting over fresh green stems and thick yellow flowers. It's bright and zesty, almost lemony, blending with something green and slightly herbal, like crushed leaves. There is rich honey, a touch of sugar, and a warm, glowing depth that feels smooth and luxurious. It’s bold but effortlessly likable, the kind of scent that catches attention and leaves an addictive trail... It's linear like most SHL perfumes and it's no issue to me personally Piensa en un sol dorado derritiéndose sobre tallos verdes frescos y flores amarillas densas. Es brillante y cítrico, casi con un toque de limón, mezclado con algo verde y ligeramente herbal, como hojas trituradas. Hay miel rica, un toque de azúcar y una profundidad cálida y resplandeciente que se siente suave y lujosa. Es audaz pero fácil de amar, el tipo de aroma que llama la atención y deja un rastro adictivo. Es lineal, como la mayoría de los perfumes de SHL,y personalmente, no me parece un problema.

Something different. Something from the past. Elegant and respectable. This perfume takes me back to when I was a child, my late grandfather used iris soap and had a hunting hat with a leather brim. I remember when I was little I always loved wearing his hat and I remember exactly that smell of hat, leather and iris soap. This perfume is smooth, masculine, earthy and serious. It is more for men than women. It goes perfectly with a suit, but I put it on when I'm working at the computer, because I have to smell my hand a little bit, this perfume is simply tempting. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ 9/10 Perfume performance - this perfume lasts and lasts and lasts. It doesn't suffocate and feels strong enough. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 9/10 Perfume rating - my personal opinion is that this perfume is wonderful. It reminds me of my childhood. It brings me back to be with my grandfather again. Beautiful, rounded, elegant, protective. It restores my mood.

#1749 in my “Tour de Fragrance” This one’s a winner. Got this spray sample from luckyscent.com. Really nice iris forward scent, a scent type in which SHL has few serious rivals. I wish it had some olibanum or incense or myrrh, but not so much that I don’t want this, though for that reason it would come in behind “Mortal Skin”, right up there with “Panthea”and “Panthea Iris”, “Khol de Bahrain”, “Taklamakan.” No relation whatever to the “Soleil de Jeddah Mango Kiss” which didn’t impress me at all but a girlfriend thought went perfectly with her bikini. I put this right up there with Amouage “Interlude Black Iris” my favorite iris scent. Long lasting on the skin, arm’s length silage. Might be a little daring for the office, but definitely date wear. Wish somebody would do a low cost clone, but none out there now that I know of. Sigh. May have to bite the bullet on this one. Good Luck and Good Hunting!

I remember years ago when I started my fragrance journey I didn't like this at all. Years later my nose must have matured because I fell head over heels in love with this absolute masterpiece. I bought a second back up 100ml bottle immediately. I can't get enough of this stunning fragrance. I could literally bathe in this. There's no way I could describe this fragrance only to say I get endless compliments when wearing this from all walks of life. My 33 year old girlfriend to my 74 year old father & everyone in between loves this fragrance on me. All I can say to anyone trying this for the first time, is do not judge right away. The magic is in the dry down! Give this work of art time to do its thing. This will always be a staple in my collection!

I wanted something unusual and I found it :D The way I discovered this perfume house was accidental, but I think destined to be. The first perfume from SHL I tried Black gemstone, I liked it right from the first sniff and this was the entering point into abyss. Jokes aside, I became obsessed with this house. Of course I love Soleil de Jeddah. Opening is fruity, mango like, more like pineapple. Fruity note fast fade away and you are left with chamomile pushing strong pairing with smoky leather. Chamomile leaves you too :) What is left, beautiful tasty vanilla leaver and iris. I bought 100 ml, this how my spring will smell :D I get only positive emotions from this one!!

The opening is green leathery As it dries for a bit i can tell apart the green floral slightly funky note of chamomile along with the fruity fresh notes of lemon and osmanthus The osmanthus note also contributes to the floral and funky animalic qualities of the fragrance As it driess the chamomile and osmanthus become more sweet floral and less fruity and funky They are laid on a base of softly brushed suede or very subtle leather It feels as if the fragrance has a soft aura to it or a kind of a blur around the "edges", definitely not sharp but the kind of scent that projects a soft type of aura around you

This is an absolutely stunning powerhouse and, in my opinion, the best and most authentic orris forward fragrance ever formulated. I smelled orris butter raw material about a year ago and have been searching for a realistic perfume with that smell. This is the one. To make it even more stunning, there is a perfect osmanthus note that balances out the darkness of the orris butter and makes it shine. The gold bottle is a perfect color for the juice in this bottle. It literally smells like I would imagine gold should smell like. I am currently testing from a decent and plan to pick up a FB soon.

I was recently introduced to Soleil de Jeddah by a friend and Im astonished at its more-than-a-passing-resemblance to Amouage Beach Hut Man. Could Christopher Chong have taken "inspiration" from this exceptional scent that came some 4 years before? I'll ask you to be the judge. Soleil de Jeddah is opulent, long-lasting, bold and totally commanding... its also completely gender-neutral. If it weren't for Chong's plaigarised effort which I happened to sniff first, Id have whole heartedly named Soleil de Jeddah a masterstroke and quite unlike anything Ive ever smelled before.

Strangely compelling, but I wouldn't buy it. I do think it's a unique balance of notes, and no element dominates, although the chamomile is quite pissy/rotting-fruity, and noticeable. It's kind of like a Xerjoff but with more restraint and less saccharine. I'm sure someone loves this perfume, but it's not for me. ... Now I've worn my decant a few more times, I really don't like it. It's nauseating and relentless. I get a sort of rotting peach/bin juice vibe from it. Really horrible.

I think I just found my signature fragrance! This is a wonderful blend of scents that encompass lemon, smoke, woodiness, spice and something gourmand. It is bright at first - very bright! But then dries down to smell like a library full of old leather books, tobacco and something I can't put my finger on, but it is both exciting and comforting. It is truly a unisex fragrance - I am female and feel very comfortable in it, but I can easily see my boyfriend wearing it well. Fabulous!

One of a handful of perfumes that blew me away by its originality. Chamomile, freshly plastered walls in a new building, a bit of iris so your mind wanders back and forth trying to decide if this is soapy or not, with some sweetness that isn't cloying. After 4-5h has nothing in common with that theme and is one of the most realistic sandy beaches I've ever come across. Like Silence the Sea only not off putting as much. Ordered a full bottle the same day...

Stephan Humbert Lucas is a conjurer, who's medium happens to be perfume. Love it, own it. Pianomelody's review describes it well. Like all of shl perfumes, it is so evocative that it feels of having been somewhere, and come back with the smell on you, rather than having spritzed a perfume. Therefore, you smell good, rather than your perfume smelling good. The end result, being the effect of wearing luxurious perfume in an exotic locale.

Bright, sophisticated .. a scent that tells a story surprising since the beginning. The opening of chamomile and osmanthus is very beautiful reinforced by a joyful and bright lemon! the drydown becomes a little "smoky" the sillage and projection remains fairly good. incredibly unique! too weird for designer, too wearable for a niche, so its perfect for me! soft chamomile opening, which makes it green, herbal, soft, osmanthus is also there which adds a slight, very slight sweetness. then the depth of the leather and ambergris comes - clean leather. the full scent is smooth, herbal, i also smell a borderline balsamic note there. insanely unique.

The scent of gold dusted apricots, ripe grapes and chamomile. I am in a Van Gogh painting next to a sunflower with leather gloves. It is warm, and sunny, and calm. Soleil is a special experience, very addictive and mighty evocative. Synesthetic it is. Besides the above to my nose it also stimulates a roasted effect like walking on hot sand but without having my feet burnt up. *****

Anyone vaguely familiar with Middle Eastern perfumery, even the no name cheapies, must have smelled something like this before. I'm currently wearing this next to a 20euro Hamidi Elixir and the similarities are definitely there. While I don't mind wearing the affordable options, I don't feel like forking out the hefty retail price for a sweet fruity- soapy concoction like this.

@greatswiftscent I’m sampling from a Luckyscent vial dauber and I would anticipate a spray behaving differently. Not as strong as Nur, which in my opinion is a plus. A couple of hours (2-3) of light projection, then a longer dry down of several more hours. So really good, as I tend to absorb perfume. I prefer this one, but I already own Nur.

I wasn’t expecting this to be so similar to Mango Kiss. Basically Mango Kiss without the mango and slightly more soapy and robust from a touch of leather. Great option if you want to experience this DNA in the fall & winter. Very middle eastern; I find it so delightful and rich. Great juice!

Soleil de Jeddah opens lemony, aldehydic, and musky; it's a fine Frenchified hissy perfume, lots of civet and a high-handed air. It's really not that far from the 70s woody chypres of my heart, like Aromatics Elixir. Whip-sharp, elegant and earthy at the same time. A few minutes in, Soleil de Jeddah has a lot of chamomile, which in perfume is a bitter, brownish, dried-herb note, key to the tweedy earth-toned palette and uncompromising crispness of those vintage chypres. Like all the breed, Soleil de Jeddah evokes an Amazon: fierce, intelligent, athletic, impatient. Civilized enough to triumph at an office or dinner party, but totally unfussy about a little mud or sweat. Just like a classic 70s chypre, Soleil de Jeddah has oakmossy, leathery, pitch-black depths under the pale-gold aldehydes and loden-brown herbs. I don't get any of the fruit some reviewers notice; on me it's just a straight retro woody chypre, simpler and cruder than the actual classics but still effective. Despite the Orientalist art direction, there's nothing remotely Arab-inflected about this scent. It's a perfectly normal Western perfume. While chypres are traditionally a feminine genre, Soleil de Jeddah is marketed as unisex, and it might be interesting on a man; it's stark and striking, without a lot of ornament, almost the minimum viable woody chypre, and certainly has a stronger personality than most masculines.

Soleil De Jeddah is a uniquely stunning, sweet earthy, herbal-citrus fragrance with a touch of floral; completely unisex. Two sprays is plenty, the strength and projection are strong. At first I really had no idea what was going on with this fragrance, it goes on strong and with some kind of old timey vibe I couldn't put my finger on. But leave it for 15 minutes to settle, and it will have you going back for more and more like an addiction. Sweet wet earth and chamomile, with mild lemon citrus and soft iris. A fraghead friend introduced me to this fragrance saying it was the best thing he'd ever smelt, that it smells like heaven on Earth. It kind of creates an air around the wearer of comfortable decadence and class. I think the trick with this fragrance is to let it naturally waft around you and take it in that way, rather than directly smelling the point of contact where you sprayed it. This would be a perfect scent for formal events or special occasions. It's quite unique, I wouldn't recommend blind buying. When it hits right it is really something magical though, so please do get your nose on it if you have the chance.

Soleil de Jeddah is an interesting scent of contrasts, and so very beautiful. The opening is bright with sour fruits & chamomile, opposed by earthy warmth. Osmanthus beautifies the scent, with contrast from a smooth leather. There are soft woods and flowers in the heart, floated by the butter of orris. The flowers are purple but not too dark, balanced by fragrant osmanthus. The scent sweetens ever so slightly as zest fades. For me, this iris/orris presentation is the soul of Soleil de Jeddah. Altogether a very unique and pretty smell. Well blended, complex in its layering and so many facets to discover. Performs well, with good projection and longevity. All the while remaining very natural in its profile. Overall, a beautiful and versatile scent. Soleil de Jeddah would smell fantastic on an elegant lady. Perhaps slightly too feminine for my own wearing, but a real joy to experience nonetheless. This is a scent for fans of orris - a leathery, non-powdery presentation of this root. Well worth sampling!

That lemon is quite dominant and fruity rather than citrusy, so it amplifies the fruitiness of osmanthus, making the scent too lemony fruity overall that the beauty of the floral note is almost ruined. The 'soapiness' some comments mentioned comes from the quality of balmy osmanthus, so this combo with lemon isn't quite a good choice, in my opinion. Damp chamomile gives an aromatic edge, making me assume for a sec that it was blackcurrant cassis or maybe patch before looking at the notes. I also detect some airy spices like pink pepper. Leather and ambergris are so refined and seamless, which shine more after the scent settles. Very skilful blend - I just don't like the scent profile; however, if it's right up your alley, this is far superior to many other fruity+leathery frags. Very unisex. I'm curious as to how this scent would be associated with Jeddah, though.

نت های عطر در ترکیب باهم یه رایحه گرد شده و نرم تشکیل میدن هیچ رایحه ای درحال سرکوب بقیه نیست و همگی در یک هارمونی منظم در تکامل رایحه کلی عطر باهم شراکت میکنن شروع کار ترکیبی از گل بابونه و اسمانتوس در کنار لیمو که یه بابونه نرم و پودری رو تحویل شما میده. احتمالا زنبق هم درش دخالت داره و تقریبا در تمام طول عمر عطر این حالت پودری با شدت و ضعف حضور داره. همونطور که بابونه هم نقشش در کل طول عطر برجسته است. در کنار زیبایی و جدید بودن رایحه برای من یه حس آدامسی رو هم بهمراه داره. هرچه زمان میگذره یه حالت شوری دریایی کم و یه چرم نرم و بی ازار هم به رایحه اضافه میشه و در مرحله پایانی تقریبا نت چرمی خود نمایی خواهد کرد. سویل د جده یه کار تقریبا چهار فصل با ماندگاری و پخش عالی هست و در یونیسکس بودن بی شک کفه ترازو به سمت زنانه بودن سنگینتره برای خانم های بالای سی سال یه عطر رسمی یا نیمه رسمی بسته به موقعیت میتونه محسوب بشه. *همیشه معطر باشید*

Beautiful lemony burst at the start that reminds me of the scent of a hotel I started at in Abu Dhabi. Thankfully this lemon was not synthetic and far more refreshing. It quickly warms up and I start getting the osmanthus and then leather and vanilla. After half an hour it smells exactly like Emiro by Moresque. The only similarities both fragrances have are the lemon in the top notes and leather in the base. I haven't noticed anyone else having a similar experience so it must just be my skin chemistry. To me the dry down, despite the dreaded vanilla, is superior to Emiro. Sillage is big on my skin so definitely a cooler climate choice but well worth it.

Another gorgeous "Arabian Nights" perfume from Stephane Humbert Lucas, this shimmering Oriental starts off with a beautiful whiff of osmanthus, chamomile and a hint of citrus. It begins to dry down to reveal a more animalic side with ambergris and leather on one side and some vanilla, iris, and an earthy note I can't ascertain for sure on the other. Unisex feminine leaning scent with moderate to strong projection and very good longevity. Nicely evokes an exotic imagery of the Arabian peninsula. Enjoy!

Nose Note #283 I had Special Oud Al Wataniah and loved it, but didn't know it was a dupe of Soleil de Jeddah. I bought this and was overwhelmed by it's strengh and projection. I can barely stomach it. You have to spray moderatly and further away from the head, otherwise you are asking for a headache. I may even like Special Oud better. They are basically the same, but OG is too strong for me. One of the most potent fragrances I had. This and possibly Megamare.

This went from 0 - 10 in a heartbeat for me. The opening is very fruity, citrusy and sweet, almost cloying. But the sweetness and fruits tame down and lend themselves very nicely to the warm and animalic dry down. Very unique. Very addictive. It’s def not for everybody and wouldn’t recommend as a blind buy, but give it a shot. And be patient for the dry down. It’s a journey with this one.

It begins very bright as Pigletia said, and bath clean like a lemon spicy soap. Reminds me of my grandma's bath a bit. Becomes warm, sweet and heavy slowly. The light and bright scent of floral-lemony part attends vanilla switness, leather and animalic smoky part. I can smell some spicy notes too, but warm and sweet part is dominant.

I really like the "dirty lemon" smell I get from the citrus and the ambergris: it's much more natural and exotic than so many citrus scents that just smell of cheap kitchen cleaners. Long lasting and good projection. My favourite of this line.

I really want to like this one but i don't get much florals or sweetness from it. Initially i get a citrusy, salty floral note. It's rather hard to explain the vibe. Fresh, lemony, tea-like, with an earthy and leathery backdrop. I honestly don't pick up any vanilla here. I can't say i dislike this fragrance but it definitely is not sweet enough to be something i'd consider grabbing a full bottle of. I expected the vanilla and osmanthus to be a lot sweeter than they are in this composition. It's dirty leather with some dry flower petals, some tea, and some lemon zest. Certainly unique and interesting but simply not my cup of tea. Sample first, this one is an oddball. I disagree with the unisex assessment on this one... I think it leans a bit masculine. A woman can definitely rock this but i'd definitely find it more appealing on a man.

Seeing the love this gets on here, I was excited to get my nose on it. Needless to say, I don't get it at all. Herbal, stuffy florals wrapped up in an incredibly sharp leather. Performance was moderate - any more and it would have been headache inducing. Don't get me wrong, its quite interesting and incredibly unique (I haven't smelled anything quite like it), but not me or to my tastes whatsoever. I don't hate it once it's settled down, but would never wear it, and thus never buy it. Dislike (dislike/indifferent/like, but not BW/like a lot, potentially BW/love, definitely BW/masterpiece)

The citrus and chamomile paired with the leather gives off a really weird accord that does not work, in my opinion... It's just really acidic and animalic and, well, it doesn't work for me AT ALL. Probably needed a bit more floral in the mix to tone done the animalic levels... Not a fan...

90% similar to Porto Bello, by Le Couvent des Minimes. Porto Bello is slightly sweeter, and less challenging. SDJ has better longevity and projection, and smells more niche.

I was so excited to finally try this and I'm very sorry to say it is awful. I get a very sour incense/floral vibe. I can't imagine this is unisex??? It is so feminine but I would never want a woman to smell like it. I don't think it's my chemistry either because I get the same scent off the bottle. I don't really like writing negative reviews but this time I felt it was necessary. Also it smells very much like L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Intense, so much so that I would say if you really like the smell save your money and just buy that instead.

ok so this is too herbal and earthy... it smells like wet dirt right after rain but with hints of citrus, yet somehow its still very dry... I think you might enjoy this if you like earthy, medicinal, citrusy and powdery notes

I really tried to make friendly with Jeddah but just couldn't. This always smelled like a freshly opened bag of diapers to me. I did not get any dry down goodness and the opening was to disconcertingly sweet.

The open smells like dragons blood incense or a shop that sells it. Not for me

This was the sample I looked forward to the most but the top notes smell like vinegar/balsamico. Such an offensive smell. Then it morphes into a lemony leather smell. I find it offensive. Did I mention yet that I find this offensive? lol

It's a no from me. This odd combo is like a sour Motel 6.

This starts off very green, which I cant stand, however it does have the bitter lemon, floral undercurrent. It has an inky blackcurrant smell The projection and smell is huge.It is a very acquired taste. You can tell this is a very well built quality perfume and so it should be given the stupid price! Given time it is really unique, and you know no one else will smell like this. This is one of those scents, that people will ask what are you wearing and where they can get it from, the next question is how much does it cost? I guess people do denote this sort of scent is expensive, however when you tell the price they say its good but no way that good! However I do like it, as not many perfumes if any smell like this. Your run of the mill dept stores frags and this are wholly different entities. I would urge anyone to try before they buy. I got lucky and blind bought this and thought this is a signature frag for me. I think this is the best from Lucas 777 and I will soon write on how I find the Mortal Skin which sounds promising. But all of these fragrance descriptions are like political manifestos, promise and sound this is the new Utopia and soon you realise that they could not deliver on their vision of Utopia and have failed all and miserably.

This might be one of the few leathers that can be worn in summer. Ultimately a sliced green mango, apricot skin, with lemon squeezed over it, dipped in salt. Very green fruity and fresh but avoids being too tart with the underlying herbal chamomile, and other herbs maybe like thyme, that isn’t harsh in its greenness but relaxing. Grounding this further is an earthy Iris with a leather which I get from the beginning, except they appear and then run away then appear again. The constant drifting is a good thing for hotter weather, because it allows for the freshness to shine more. The leather, similar to that in FDB Milano which is also very unique but more “dirty” and paired with herbs, does a good job at controlling the Iris because this isn’t powdery at all, which would also be cloying in hotter weather. I think this fragrance is linear because I really get everything from first spray. Projection is great and longevity is just as. I’m curious to test Soleil de Jeddah Mango Kiss because I already get a “Tiziana Terenzi Vele” green mango, more than osthmanthus/apricot in this. *I finally tested Mango Kiss but it’s not available on here yet. It’s similar to this with a riper mango, still tart, herbal but more sweet.*
