Antigone

Why do I love you, Antigone? On some days, you smell unbearably fruity and cheap. On others, your sophistication astonishes me. When it's an Antigone day, I wake up knowing nothing else will do. But why? There's something behind your fruity/floral scent that I find completely satisfying, a powdery, earthy granite that reminds me of the Greek Antigone herself, damning all others to make her futile stand before being sealed into her cave. I understand why so many are unimpressed, but I've always been one to enjoy what others find challenging and unremarkable on first glance.

This is such an unusual and enchanting fragrance, I just had to give it a review. Fragrance Vault threw in a free sample with another purchase I made, and wow! It reminds me slightly of Honour Woman by Amouage or Izia Sisley, but there is a high-pitched note (maybe the Jasmine?) that creates an ethereal, otherworldly, almost eerie aura. It reminds me of fairy wings, or when an opera singer hits a note so high it shatters glass. Antigone is long-lasting and has incredible projection. This one is not for me, but it does cast a mesmerizing spell, transporting the wearer to Antigone's mythological world... I haven't been able to stop thinking about it, and now I want to try the rest of Stéphanie de Bruijn's collection! It's funny reading the other reviews below, Antigone apparently has a different effect on all those she encounters, adding to her phantom-like mystique. It's nothing like Lipstick Rose to me, which is one of my favorite fragrances. Antigone is masterfully blended, not cheap-smelling at all, however polarizing a scent she may be. I'm grateful to have had a chance to sample this one!

This is pretty for sure however, it is very very heady and a tad too much for me. Perhaps it is the blend itself, who knows? In any case, it triggered a massive headache and I will not be sampling this again for fear of getting a headache again. I love Jasmine and white florals, I love fruits and musks and woods and this perfume has it all...it’s just that this particular blend doesn’t agree with me... Definitely sample this because you may very well find it beautiful!

The mixture of Rose and Raspberry makes me feel this powdery way, it reminds me of Lipstick Rose of Frederic Malle somehow, but more fruity but not jammy way. more close to sparkling and citric. The Peach-Jasmine combo here which sharply ends reminds me of Nuit de Cellophane (Osmanthus-Jasmine in here) of Serge Lutens reminds me of shampoo-like nuance or Perm agent-like nuance.

I would recommend that before giving 3 stars people should try out this entirely adorable masterpiece. Antigone is chic, young, sparkling, modern, though very much lovable and very feminine. It is also unique. Maybe no longer after Louis Vuitton copied certain aspects of Antigone in their Attrape-Rêves. If I compare the two, Antigone sounds more authentically French, whereas AR is obviously an international crowd-pleaser. Anyway, I have both of them :-)

It is luxury and alluring. Our of all the perfumes of this Parfum eye, I chose this one.
