Promenons-Nous Dans Les Bois

I got a sample of this fragrance with my MAXAROMA order. On MAXAROMA's website, this fragrance is described as "A sensual fragrance that is sweet and spicy like a walk in the forest at dawn of an autumn day... The deliciously fresh mint titillates the senses awakened by lemon and sage while shaking with joy in the arms of heliotrope and vanilla on deep notes of amber and white musk." Top Notes: Lemon, Bergamot, Lavender and Green Notes Middle Notes: Mint, Artemisia, Anise, Nutmeg, Heliotrope and Sage Base Notes: Cedar, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Amber and White Musk I honestly did not enjoy this fragrance and I'm glad I tested it on a strip before spraying it on myself. The opening was way too citrusy for my liking. I had to let the strip sit a while before putting it back to my nose. The middle notes reminded me of this herbal Chinese medicine, which I also did not enjoy smelling. I had high hopes for the dry down because it seems like a combo I would like, BUT for some reason, the dry down smelled really dirty to me. The woody notes seemed too peaty and the musk was a dirty musk. I could only smell a tiny hint of vanilla, but it's extremely faint. Overall, I did not enjoy this fragrance. I have not heard about this fragrance house either, so I can't say anything about their other fragrances. I'm sure they're high quality, but this one is a definite no for me.

When I picked up Promenons-nous Dans Les Bois from MaxAroma during a clearance sale, I honestly didn’t expect much. The notes sounded like something I’d enjoy, and the price was fantastic — as a collector, I figured, why not? A new house is always a welcome addition to the shelf. I actually purchased two other fragrances alongside this one, and on first sniff, Walk in the Woods was the least impressive of the trio. It gave off a strong early-2000s vibe and leaned quite heavily into the feminine direction, which surprised me, considering it’s marketed toward men. But something shifted. I gave it a full week of wear, and it slowly grew on me — in a big way. It still doesn’t strike me as a traditional fougère or green fragrance, so the name is a bit misleading. To my nose, it’s a sweet scent with a gentle minty thread running throughout. As it develops, it warms up beautifully, revealing cozy woods and soft touches of vanilla in the drydown (Sandalwood is very prominent). It’s elegant and refined — but what I enjoy most is the overall wearing experience, not necessarily any specific note or phase. This is the kind of fragrance that unfolds over time and rewards patience. It’s not a love-at-first-spray scent, but it finds its rhythm with you. Performance is moderate — not a beast, but it projects well enough to be noticed. If I had to nitpick, I’d say the bottle design feels a bit on the cheaper side, especially compared to the scent’s actual character. I’m genuinely curious to explore more from this house, especially those leaning masculine or unisex. If you’re someone who enjoys discovering hidden gems that don’t scream for attention but reveal their charm slowly and intimately, Promenons-nous Dans Les Bois might surprise you — just like it did me.

I'm surprised there is no Geranium note here. Mint, Laveder, Nutmeg, Sage are strong to me.
