Samarcande

A boutique in my city recently launched this brand in store and had a draw for a free 50ml of choice from the brand. I was blessed to be picked at random as the winner and after testing out a few from the house, such as Eve and Cupidon, I settled on Samarcande as my final choice. Cupidon was a very close 2nd but it's very, very fresh and light and only suitable for warmer weather. Being from Montreal, Samarcande is just a better choice as it's easily worn in every season except the highest of heat days in summer. This fragrance is really unique and beautiful. The main thing you get on skin is patchouli and raspberry with a bit of spiciness from the cardamom and pepper. In the dry down, the rose and oud come out a bit but the patchouli and raspberry remain the stars of this beautiful composition from beginning to end. The raspberry comes across as fresh, tart and sweet. The patchouli is that rich and chocolatey kind with a little touch of earthiness. Longevity is great. 10+ hours. Projection and sillage were fantastic. Overall, I'm absolutely thrilled to add this fragrance to my collection. Definitely a standout for the house.

Got gifted this beauty of a fragrance recently. I didn't even know about the existence of this brand up until now but my oh my, this stuff is phenomenal. I have no idea why there's no hype behind this fragrance. So this starts out with this bergamot which I'd like to say is somewhat ripe. A beautiful ripe citrus, its not piercing, its not sour, its almost a sweet bergamot ( which I think is due to the raspberry) In a while the fragrance transitions into what I believe is what makes this extraordinary. There is an earthiness from the patchouli and some spiciness form the cardamom/pepper which blends in so well with the freshness of the rose. I can literally smell the wet rose petal. How is this possible? The ending is to die for, as the patchouli fades the Laotian oud comes to play and there's this weird equilibrium between these two notes and the rose. I cant find the words I need to describe this fragrance and I'll update my review in a year or two. Funny how the only reviews of this fragrance are Montreal based. I'd recommend this to anyone and everyone.
