If no one mentioned the similarities with Egoiste I wouldn't recognize! I have old Egoiste and this, wore both surprisingly and didn't tell ! I agree Stephanie perfume is not that INNOCENT or feminine kind of scent, but comparing it to Egoiste makes it so, as the latter is “harsher” and gives me headach unlike Stephanie. If you have more than one bottle of this consider yourself a lucky object, this perfume hase almost evaporated from earth, what remains now is scarce. I just love it, I didn't do so when it was released and I wore it (1991), it wasn't my cup-of-tea then, but now, I really enjoy spraying it. The genius thing about its formula is that it goes with any season/time of day! In summer it is super citrusy and fresh, in winter it is dark and mysterious and very oriental, early morning it is gentle and school/office friendly, and at night it will be so romantic and sexy for a party or wedding or even intimate times! I really applaud Polge and Demachy for this artistic creative and genius formula. I found on a blog that after it has been officially released in 1989, a little bit later - withdrawn and discontinued by the designer! Maybe she is still enjoying it till now, I bet she is in love with its amazing smell, it is really a precious liquid..

This perfume is the best example of "gender change" in fragrance. In 1989 my mother wore it and it was anything but feminine and now 30 years later i wear it and it is a classy masculine just like EGOISTE de chanel was when it came out! Gorgeous and much better than the current CHANEL one.

These were my first scent. I chose it to myself on present from my mother :) after first important examinations ,as I was 18 years old. There are very ethereal, exotic and oriental. Incredibly as very present. Remind to me Shalimar initial.

Does this smell at all like Quom Chlom by Stéphane Humbert? I received a sample of Stephanie and I LOVE IT. I couldn't read the small sampler label. There is something floral about this scent. But, I smell a slight warm, dark, cherry scent that might be the carnation mixing with the lilac which is why I thought I had a sampler of Quom Chlom. They are both described as oriental and androgynous. I don't think Stephanie smells like Egoiste. Everyone wore Egoiste at the clubs in the 90s which is why I chose the less heard of Chanel Antaeus to wear out. I suppose the scent of Egoiste kept the heard of gay zebras together as a unified scent. Maybe it was the amount of Egoiste I'm used to smelling. But clubs were almost offensively drenched with Egoiste in the early 90s. I'd leave with the smell still in my nose and if I was sensitive at all to cologne—I would have had a migraine.

I can't believe the comments which state that this smells masculine. I used to own and use a few bottles of it and to me this is one of the most beautiful feminine scents {obviously 90s era) out there. Amber-y, cinnamon-y, deliciously beautiful, I remember a colleague of mine asked me about it, she wanted to get it for her daughter's graduation evening, her words were: 'Gosh you smell delicious! I could spray this fragrance on a slice of bread and eat it!' Really, really sad it was discontinued! Please, bring it back! By the way I have recently tried one Penhaligon's perfume (The Ruthless countess Dorothea and to my surprise something rang the bell, it does share some similarities with Stephanie). I should sample it again).

I ordered a vintage parfum from a guy in Saudi Arabia. To my surprise he included a 10 ml bottle of unmarked juice! I sprayed it a made a rookie mistake by putting my nose close to it. It came across too strong and almost gave me that headache from making that mistake. I contacted him and asked what it was which he told me a rare perfume called Stephanie. I gave it another shot, this time allowing it to do its thing. Wow! I’m a man and I consider this perfume a masculine scent. Very nice fragrance like a dark oriental floral niche fragrance. I will sparingly used this stretching it out for special occasions.

THE CHERRY SCENT IS THE TONKA BEAN I would also like to say that I LOVE THIS SCENT. Someone compared it to Egoiste, but actually the scent profile is closer to Chanel Anteaus. Although I don't smell cherry at all in Anteaus just the citrus mixing with rose which gives off this fruity carnation scent. Stephanie has a lot more base notes and something is mixing with the rose and citrus and giving more of a smokey dark cherry smell that dissipates into incense. Oh, IT IS THE TONKA BEAN. If you are a fan of Chanel Antaeus this is your SUMMER EVENING scent.

I am lucky to have this beauty . It is almost disappeared . The splash bottle i own is cheap looking but the scent is out if this world . I think this perfume must come back again with a beautiful bottle ,please make this favor to humanity !!!!! Update Smells similiar to Parfum initial guerlain

I am glad to try this perfume. The bottle is understatement to the scent which is so beautiful. Oriental balmy, would easily fit in a collection of niche collectors for its diverse smell.

It was beautiful ! So sad ... just memories ! Demachy and Polge ! Two maestri ! Impossible to find this perfume today.
