L'eau Nirique

This smell is deep and "round"; no sharp, harsh or bitter notes. It gives me a feeling of comfort and well-being. The jasmine and other flowers smell wonderful; they are not too sweet, they blend well with a clear, fresh white musk; I don't get any sweet coconut or banana either. To me it is a smell not for summer, it's not fresh enough for that. On my skin it's a very warm scent that I will be wearing on winter afternoons when I want to cuddle up with a good book.

I fully agree with what my fellow reviewers have already said. L'Eau Nirique is indeed a pleasant and tropical fragrance and, in my opinion, best suited to a night out at the beach bar while sipping cocktails and enjoying the band playing "Girl from Ipanema". On initial spray L'Eau Nirique is all about delicious lemon and lemon blossom with woody undertones and jasmine. Within the first hour I notice a shift from lemoney notes towards tuberose. The tuberose is dense and heady but is perfectly balanced with sweet and transparent jasmine aromas while the lemon and lemon blossom are slowly pushed into the background. I do not get any coconut from this fragrance and I am hard-pressed to locate bananas in this composition but I guess that banana is more of a fixative to hold the lemoney notes, the woods and the florals together. On my skin the base remains as sweet, floral and tropical as the heart, the only difference I notice is that the perfume is slowly fading. The sillage is good and the longevity (easily 6+ hours on my skin) is nothing to complain about either. L'Eau Nirique is actually a great fragrance. First thing I smell is jasmine, lots of naturalistic tropical jasmine, along with some lemon and woody notes. As it dries down, a clean white musk quickly joins the jasmine and gives it depth. Within a half hour there’s a good bit of banana, present mainly in the remote sillage rather than close-up, where the musk masks everything else. An hour into the drydown, all I smell is musk. It’s a nice, jasmine-y white musk that would be quite ordinary were it not for the tiniest touches of toasted coconut and green banana. Sillage is moderate, and the musky phase is long-lasting. Overall, this is a clean tropical musk that’s upbeat and inoffensive.

L'Eau Nirique is a pleasant and sprightly perfume. It opens with a lemon-custard note that is positively effervescent, followed by the tuberose and jasmine. As it settles into the skin, I get the coconut, mercifully not strongly enough to make me think of suntan lotion, more as a support for the tuberose accord, and just a smidgen of banana, thankfully not at all prominently, as I dislike banana. It's got a sweetness that I wouldn't normally like, but somehow it works with that sparkling lemon blossom and the heady flowers; then I notice the musk in the base coming up to add its warmth to the overall composition. That lovely top note lingers, too. It's a nice little number to have on hand for sultry summer days & evenings...Perfect for dreamy hot days when you might want to lie in the shade with some jasmine tea wearing this scent and as little else as possible. No quibbles about this perfume other than that I wish it was an eau de parfum rather than a edt for better development and longevity. I got this perfume at a bargain price, unsniffed, and honestly didn't expect to like it all that much from the notes listed; but it is a nice departure from my usual perfume leanings. Makes me want to try her Berberiades rather badly...
